Weird Files Generated with Attachments when Sent to Windows

When I attach a file to an email message and send it to a windows user, a file like "ATT341087.htm" is generated and appears below the file I attach.
"Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments" is checked.
Any idea what this is?

Are you using RTF for message composition along with a signature?
Try using Plain Text for message composition the next time you are sending an attachment to this recipient to see if the same occurs.

  • Problem with Mail with attachments when sent to PC's

    I am having problems when I send mail from Apple Mail with an attachment from my machine to a PC machine. I use the attach tab at the top, and I choose Windows friendly attachments. But for some reason when my recipient gets my message there is no attachment attached to the message. Is there something I am doing wrong? My recipients have there mail application set up all right, but for some reason they have issues with my messages which are meant to have attachments.

    I also have this problem, when sending jpg's to a PC who is running outlook, and have their own MS mail server in-house.
    When my mail arrives in her inbox, the attachments are embedded in the email, and when she right clicks they are called "Untitled" even though when I sent them, then had file names with .jpg extension.
    And yes I have windows friendly on.
    Any ideas anyone?

    LR 5.6 doesn't support the new Nikon D750. You have to wait to the next update.
    You con also install the release candidate of the DNG converter and convert your NEF files to dng.

  • Inter-book links not working files generated with Acrobat 9 Pro

    Dear All,
    We're using TCS 2.5 and generating PDF using Acrobat Pro Extended 9 from our FM 9 guides. We have many links between guides and these links no longer work. Now only the xrefs within a guide work.
    We have the same relative paths for the FM guides and PDF and keep all the guides open when generating them and when generating the PDFs.
    The links appear active (acrobat displays the little hand) but when you click the link nothing happens.
    We have no problems using FM 9 with Distiller 7, but we've upgraded to TCS on some machines and this is where we're having this problem (on machines with Acrobat Pro Extended 9). Does anyone know if this is a bug? or a conversion setting that we don't know about?
    Thank you for any help or suggestions you can provide!
    Regards,
    Susanne

    I've found that down loading the PDF file to the Nook and using Acrobat  reader allows the links to work, however this is way cumbersome, any way to work on files directly on Acorbat.com?

  • Receiver file adapter with attachments.

    Hi
    I would like to pass a file receiver an attachment from a proxy. I have seen bits and pieces with attachments. I have read that its similar to the mail adapter.
    In the module
    localejbs/AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean
    module configuration:
    Parameter Name: swap.keyName
    Parameter Value: payload-name
    Has anyone succeeded and would you explain the details?
    Thanks in advance
    Ian

    Hi,
    As far as I know, receiver file adapters do not supprt attachments.
    You can use the payloadSwapBean to swap the attachment and the actual proxy payload and then send it to the file adapter.
    Don't think it will be possible to send both the attachment and the payload to the receiver  file adapter though.

  • Downloading attachments when using a Windows XP computer

    I use a MAC at home but when I am working or traveling then I have to use a Windows XP laptop. I can read my E-mail messages from www.mac.com but I can not view any of the attachments. Is there something that I can do that will allow me to view these attachments when using my work laptop?

    Your question will be easier to answer if you provide the following information:
    1. What email client are you using on the Windows XP laptop? Or are you using .Mac's webmail <http://webmail.mac.com>?
    2. What are the attachments you're trying to view? Do you have the correct applications on the XP machine to view them?
    3. What are you seeing when you try to download and view attachments?

    In my document I have a button that point to url (this url is html file of a second Indesign swf + html).
    When I click on button, the url was find an open in another window.
    Is it possible to open this second url in the same window?
    If yes How.
    I think this information is in the swf file and not in html.(How modify the swf code?)
    2)
    How to clean the cache when you reload the url? (in the html generate file)
    I'will very please if somebody of you could help me. it's Important for me.
    Regards
    Philippe

    Okay, I found the code but I can't get it to work locally.  If you have a web server maybe you can upload the files (swf and html) after you Publish them:
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("http://www.google.com");
    testlink.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickText);
    function clickText(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
    navigateToURL(myURL, "_self");
    you have to have on the stage a link element called "testlink" (see the code above) which would be a Movie Clip with the label testlink.  It can be anything from InDesign:  a button, a rectangle, a circle, a graphic, you get the idea.  Just select that object in Flash and label it testlink or anything you choose but if you change the name from testlink also change the name in the code snippet where the line "addEventListener" is.

  • In adf,how to delete a file generated on server,when the webpage is closed

    Hi,
    I have an application consisting of 2 pages. in the 1st page i will give some input details and when i click on submit, some java code is getting executed in the back. That java code generates a csv file in the server location. after succesful execution of java code, i was redirected to 2nd page. In 2nd page, i am giving option to download and when the user clicked on download button and after the file is downloaded -- in the backend i am deleting the file from the server. Till this point everything is fine. But if the user didnt click on the Download button and instead if he closes the browser, the csv file gets remained on the server itself. This is the issue i am facing .. I am not able to get an idea in ADF Framework, how to delete a file when the browser is closed. Please help me out in this.
    Thanks in advance !!!

    ADF has nothing to do with tracking browser close buttons. What you can do is call a JS function and call the method which deletes the file from within the JS function. ADF has a component for calling java code from JS call.

  • Damaged attachments when sent as Cc

    Hi everyone,
    I figured that this question might better be asked in the server forum, so please bear with me. The situation is as follows:
    There are some Macs running 10.4 and Apple Mail. They connect to the company's Exchange server via IMAP (enabled on the server). A new message with an attachment is created and sent to a business partner. In the message's Cc field there's a coworker inside the company (i.e. it does not leave the LAN).
    The business partner (To:) receives the attachment without problems. The coworker (Cc:) gets a damaged attachment, where damaged ranges from coloured distortion in PDFs to ZIPs which won't open anymore!
    If the same coworker is a recipient (To:) instead of using Cc all is fine. Does anyone have an explanation for this and/or a solution? The users would like to keep Apple Mail, so I'd like to avoid switching mail clients to something like Thunderbird or Entourage...
    Thanks
    Björn

    The shot-gun answer....
    Start with a review of the raw MIME-encoded SMTP message text (looking for differences and looking for any clues that might be left there), and work from there. Between local Antivirus (AV) software and gateway AV tools and Adobe PDF and all the other spinning wheels here, wacky stuff in these configurations is fairly normal.
    Here is some related reading: [(1)|http://groups.google.com/group/Is-Something-Broken/browse_thread/thread/ab 8fa8742e48eaf/1672ba889f1ef538], [(2)|http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/ServerSoftware/Email_Servers/Exchange/Q22943443.html], [(3)|http://forums.kerio.com/index.php?t=msg&th=2678&start=0&S=b9a4b998c22510f7 32cf4c0122e98d79]; these are various other folks that have similar errors with various mail clients and mail servers. This is not the first time there have been differences between to and cc.
    After that review, I'd probably look to use Outlook Express or Thunderbird on the Windows XP box, and see if that got better results. And I'd look to shut off AV and shut off any mail filtering rules for the testing with Microsoft Outlook, too.
    AV tools tend to get squirrelly around PDF and zip files, too.
    Also ensure Apple Mail is set to send the appropriate file format; Menu > Edit > Attachments > Always Send Windows-Friendly can potentially get involved here, too.

    I have looked in Preferences and cannot find anything that seems to address these added-in headers and footers.
    Aha! There is no Create from Web menu in Acrobat. But there is a Create menu, with the item Create PDF from Web Page, which opens a small deceptively simple dialog. It has a URL field and a few buttons, one of which is Settings. Settings opens a two-tab dialog. On the General page, there is a "PDF settings called Place headers and footers on new page." It was selected. I deselected it, and that did the trick.
    I would have thought to find a setting like this instead on the Page Layout page. And, either way, this is a deeply buried setting. It ought to have been in Preferences.
    Thanks!

  • Reducing file sizes with symbols when it's already too late

    Is it possible to turn something into a symbol when you have already placed it multiple times on the artboard? I have created very complex artwork that my client is very happy with, but I haven't shown her the file sizes! Ultimately this has to be uploaded to a webpage so it can be downloaded and printed by many people. I think I should have used symbols rather than cutting and pasting bits of art but now it's done and I don't want to redo it if it can be avoided.
    Other ways of reducing file sizes would also be helpful.
    Thanks for any help!

    And what does "downloaded from a website" mean? As PDF? If so, it doesn't matter. You would simply flatten and optimize the PDF. Symbols are AI specific and don't carry over to foreign formats, so it would be wasted effort trying to replace anything. if you still must, try this: http://www.illustrationetc.com/AI_Javascripts/ReplaceScripts.htm

  • Encoding issue in properties files generated with l10n tooling

    Hello,
    I recently try to alter my encoding settings as follows :
    * UTF-8 as workbench default, and for all content types
    * one exception : ISO-8859-1 for *.properties files (in order to conform to the specs of this format).
    Now this gives me an issue when using the l10n tooling: apparently, all the generated properties files are encoded in UTF-8 (the new workbench default), ignoring the content type specific settings.
    The sad result : hieroglyps.
    Isn't there any way for me to specify the generated properties files should be encoded in ISO-8859-1... ?
    Thomas

    please file a bug we need generate those files in 8859-1 all time
    because this is what the spec says.

  • Cannot open zip file generated with java

    Hello everybody !
    I work on a web application ( servlet, JSP... ).
    I generate a zip file containing only one file corresponding to a JSP page but when I try to open it thanks to Winzip 8.0, I have the following message :
    Error : invalid compressed data to inflate.
    The zipped file is not empty, does anybody know what is the problem, here is the source code of my servlet :
    public void trt (HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)     throws ServletException, IOException
    URL l_JspPage;
    String temp;
    ByteArrayOutputStream l_ByteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    ZipOutputStream l_ZipOutputStream = new ZipOutputStream(l_ByteArrayOutputStream);
    l_ZipOutputStream.setMethod(ZipOutputStream.DEFLATED);
    ServletOutputStream out = res.getOutputStream();
    ServletContext servletContext = getServletContext();
    if ((temp=req.getParameter("url"))!=null)
    try
    l_JspPage = new URL(temp);
    DataInputStream l_DataInputStream = new DataInputStream(l_JspPage.openStream());
    int l_iBufferSize = l_DataInputStream.available();
    byte l_byJspPageData[] = new byte[l_iBufferSize];
    l_DataInputStream.read(l_byJspPageData, 0, l_iBufferSize);
    l_ZipOutputStream.putNextEntry(new ZipEntry("file.html"));
    l_ZipOutputStream.write(l_byJspPageData,0,l_iBufferSize);
    l_ZipOutputStream.closeEntry();
    l_ZipOutputStream.finish();
    String zip=l_ByteArrayOutputStream.toString();
    res.setContentType("application/zip");
    res.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline; filename=output.zip;");
    out.println(zip);
    out.flush();
    Thanks for your help.

    Your code is somewhat obscure, but it appears that you are writing a zip file to a byte array, converting the byte array to a string, and writing the string to "out" - whatever that is.
    I'm not sure why you are going through all this, but in any case the string conversion is probably a wrong step. Zipping results in binary data, and string conversion will probably result in changes to the binary values.

  • PSD file problem with lighrooom  when editing under CS3

    Hi - Lets assume i am editing (invoked via LR) a copy of a jpg file under CS3 , say my copy file is now layered (with .PSD) and i hit file save..This PSD file is not automatically imported in LR and stacked with the other jpeg picture..I am doing something wrong here ? Cos this seems to work when saving a copied version of a jpg..

    Hmm not sure i have explained thinsg properly.
    I am in lightroom
    I select a Jpeg picture
    I hit Ctrl-e, i then have the choice to either use original or a copy
    I select the copy option
    the file is loaded in photoshop as filename-edit.jpg
    lets say I add layers for example to this picture , the filename i will then be saving is filename-edit.psd
    when i close photoshop i was expecting that this psd is stacked along with jpeg and this is not happening...
