Weird folder behavior in iTunes 8.02

Before I updated iTunes - I have a folder called "The Beatles", when i selected the folder in list view it showed all the songs that were listed in every playlist in that folder. When i next selected the playlist it showed only the songs from that playlist.
Now when I click on the "The Beatles" folder it shows every song in Itunes as it is shown in "Music" under "Library" at the top of the left-hand side menu.
Any ideas anyone? This is a fresh install of 10.5.6 and 8.02. TIA

Fridge 74, I am having exact same problem (and have always been a Mac user) I can copy the playlist manually and when I do I get the m4a and the CD will not play. When I do a burn by hitting the burn button on iTunes, I get the message of "cannot record." I have no burn label in my preference file. How do I get rid of the m4a tag as I have tried other playlist and they all now have the m4a tag. I have recorded these playlists before with no problem, now it's a problem. Hope someone answers your email.

  • IPhone 6 Plus weird screen behavior

I recently started noticing some erratic touch behavior on my screen, it's as if I have a possessed phone such as taps that I did not make, or swipes (up/down/left/right) as well. The spotlight randomly swipes down, or the notification center (it seems like a consistent swipe down behavior but at different locations). I couldn't swipe left yesterday to unlock my phone, and sometimes hangs and only locking/unlocking can fix the unresponsiveness.
Moreover, random tappings affect games and apps such as whatsapp, where it goes to the previous page due to a top left page tap, and then again on the edit button, then starts randomly scrolling up and down and tapping random parts of the screen.
This is quite frustrating, I tried formatting and starting the phone as a new one and only installed Whatsapp, but the problem persisted, albeit at fewer occurrences.
Now I noticed the problem again even though I'm on iOS 8.1, with only apps, music, and photos synced back from iTunes. What is happening ? How can I get this fixed ?
    Summary
    Issue :
Erratic touch behavior which cannot be produced on demand
Rare screen unresponsiveness following the weird touch behavior
    What I've tried :
Reset and start phone as New
    Reset all Settings
    Hard Reset
Currently using a sketching app to see how the screen taps randomly (for proof as well).

    Hello zazu90,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your touchscreen is behaving erradically on your iPhone, please follow the steps below.
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.

i have missing songs that i purchased on my old iphone. they are not in my purchased folder. but in itunes store when i look the song up, it has the purchased logo next to it.... but no way to download it

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

How do you remove a folder from an itunes library once it's been added?

When you delete the song, a menu will come up and ask you if you want to trash or keep the file. Select "keep file."   It will no longer be in your song list but it will remain on your harddrive. To add it back in use the --"add to library"--  command in the  drop down "File" Menu (you have to navigagte to where the song is stored on your hard drive and select it-- to add it back in.
Re: it ended up in the wrong album
If your songs are going in the wrong place go to the "Get Info" command and check the information under all the tabs (look at a song that's in the right album to see how it's listed) -- one or more of the boxes is incorrect or empty.  Just put  in the right information and close the info window. That should put it back in the right spot for you.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

They share many of the same titles, although some duplicates may be mp3 and m4a. Confusingly, neither format seems to be exclusive to the AppleReceive or iTunes Media folder.

No idea what this folder is. Sounds like it is something you created & named.
    •My Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music
This is the default folder iTunes uses for music.

  • After adding a folder to my iTunes Library

    I have iTunes 7.
I added a folder to my iTunes Library, and all the songs in the folder are already in the music library.
My question is this: I keep downloading and putting more songs very often in the folder in my pc that I already added but when i open iTunes and sync my iPod, iTunes does not add the most recent songs. I have to keep adding the whole folder again or adding individual files in order to have the most recent songs in my iPod.
Is there a way to update all the songs automatically from the folder you already added to the music library to iTunes?

Itunes doesn't monitor folders for additions, so you have to do it yourself or go for a thirdparty solution such as iTunes Library Updater

I understood how to import the music in the media library but i dont want to creat hundreds of playlists by hand.
    Maybe someone has a tip?
    Thank to all
    Andy

iTunes doesn't take any notice of your folder structure or provide any automatic way to use any information that might be coded in the path. Can you describe the current layout in a bit more detail and explain what you hope to achieve. It may be possible to use tools in other program's such as MediaMonkey or custom scripts to get the data from the file paths into something that iTunes can work with. The most important thing at this stage is not to import media to iTunes without first making sure under Edit > Preferences > Advanced that Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy to iTunes Media folder when adding to library are turned off otherwise iTunes may destroy your existing structure.

  • Weird duplicates situation in iTunes

So a few hundred of my songs have duplicates. When I check the info, I find that the duplicates are "located" in other folders in my music folder. When I click "show in Windows Explorer" for the duplicate song, the correct folder opens (i.e. the folder in which the song is supposed to be) but the file is not highlighted (which it is if I do the same with the "proper" song.)
For example, I have two instances of Aaliyah - Try Again. In the summary tab for the proper instance, next to "Where" it has the correct file path "D:\Music\Pitchfork\Try Again.mp3". When I look at the same for the duplicate, the file path is "D:\Music\Break - Shaolin Soul\..\Pitchfork\Try Again.mp3".
I moved the "Break - Shaolin Soul" folder to my desktop and checked to see if I could still play the duplicate track. I could. (All the duplicates are playable.)
This is utterly perplexing, and I would greatly appreciate any help.

I don't know - it may depend on how you choose to add files to your library. There will be more than one path you can choose using the iTunes Add folder to library option or when "dragging & dropping" onto the iTunes window. If you use a different path from the one used previously then you will get duplicates. Using one of the following tools could help make sure you use a consistent path.
    *Adding new items/removing orphans*
Try iTunes Folder Watch or iTunes Library Updater. Folder Watch is much faster on the adding files front, can be set to run in the background and includes a useful exclusion feature, however it’s really slow at removing orphans. iTLU is better for this although doing it manually after looking at a list of proposed removals generated by Folder Watch is probably faster still. iTLU can also be set to update iTunes when you've used 3rd party tools to change tag info.
If I recall iTLU also has an option (syncroclean) to remove tracks that are not in it's watch folders, which might provide a way to detect & remove the duplicates though it's not a feature I ever tested.

Hi mterry1723, one solution that might be worth trying is this:
    - Close iTunes, if it's open
    - Open Safari and got to 'Preferences'
    - Select 'Security' on the top
    - Untick all the security options in the menu
    - Click the 'Show Cookies' button and look for all the 'apple' entries in the left-hand column.
    - Highlight them (select them collectively) and press 'Remove'
    - Now open iTunes and buy the song as usual.
    - You may be asked to do the same security process as before, so do as asked.
    - Hopefully, the security check will now have accepted your answers and start downloading the song as normal.
Remember to re-tick all the required security options you had just un-ticked in Safari preferences. You don't need to bother about opening the cookies again.
I hope this has worked for you and my profoundest apologies if it has not. Worth a go, though!

  • Folder Structure in iTunes

In Finder, the folders are structured:
Music > iTunes (which has about a thousand folders under the artists names, a folder named iTunes Music and a few .itdb, .xml and .itl files)
inside the iTunes Music folder are over 800 folders named after different artists not contained in the iTunes folder.
Should all of the folders named for the artists be in the same folder? Either iTunes or iTunes Music? What about the .itdb, .xml and .itl files? I have 20,000 songs in my library and am using Tuneup to clean it up. The program is having a hard time finding files and when I looked, I realized I have some music in one folder and some in anaother. It seems to me that they should all be in the same folder.
    Thanks in advance.
