Weird Ghost "highlight" box

Ive created a nice little training module for my company. Its
nearly done and I added a highlight box to one of the slides.
Suddenly that highlight box is showing up on two other slides. I
cant delete it and I cant move it. It just sits there. Wnen I view
it in the web browser its there too! Any suggestions/explanations
for whats going on?

Rick;
I ended up having to delete all the highlight boxes in the
module. I thought perhaps deleting the one I added that caused the
problem would fix it but that wasnt the case. Luckily, it didnt
take me long to recreate the highlight boxes after deleting. Weird
thing to have happen tho.

  • Highlighted box on my screen, why does this happen

Why do I have a highlighted box around everything I tab to or move my mouse over? Also on my start page (when you click on the apple in the top left corner) it list all items on that page twice ie two shutdowns, two restart, and two of the log out. Weird.

    You've enabled VoiceOver.

I have a weird 5 language box that appeared and froze my macbook. It wants me to reboot.  I don't want to launch it. How do I get around it??

It's a kernel panic. See: OS X- How to log a kernel panic and post your log here. Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Diagnosing Kernel Panics.

  • Iphone 5 Issue.  When I touch an app, email, etc to open I get a highlighted box but no response.  Please help.

Also, I cannot unlock the phone to receive a call.

No, actually this is likely "Voiceover" got turned on by mistake.
It should be "reading back to you" what you selected (which is the highlighted box around the app)
Try triple-clicking the home button to turn Voiceover off.
If that doesn't work you're going to have to go into Settings to do it.
Tap the app so the box shows up around it- then double-tap the same app.  It will then open.  You have to use three fingers to swipe upward to get it to scroll down a page.

  • Change default length of highlight boxes?

Highlight boxes default to three seconds. On shorter slides where I still want a highlight, this stretches the slide length and disrupts my workflow with a few extra clicks. Is there any way to change the default length of highlights permanently?

Another option is to change the default duration for highlight boxes to Rest of Slide instead of a number of seconds.  That way, no matter how long or short your slide was, the Highlight Box would not change the slide duration.

  • Selected photos do not have highlight box

I am having difficulty with iPhoto 11 on a Mac Mini in 10.7.2 Lion. This problem has been around since day 1 with this computer (late July)
When I select photos it displays in the top right of iPhoto "x photos selected", it however does not surround the picture with the yellow highlight box. As soon as I either scroll the window down and back up, or click on the scroll bar the yellow highlight box appears.
If I have photos highlighted without the box, I can still move/delete/etc the photos that are selected, but it is quite inconvenient not being able to see the yellow highlight box around which photos I have selected.
I have tried deleting the preferences, copied over a different copy of iPhoto from another Mac, performed all software updates, and have looked through the preferences in the application for anything that might be causing this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Problem translating click/highlight boxes when copy and pasting slides from another project

I'm baffled by this problem as it doesn't seem to make sense. I opened up a new project to record a simulation in and when I was done, I copy and pasted all the slides into the appropriate section in my "Master Project" if you will. After the paste, I noticed that all the clickboxes and highlight boxes I had taken the time to carefully resize were all out of wack in terms of position. Here's the kicker, I opened up a blank project and copy/pasted the same slides...this time the click and highlight boxes were in the correct position. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Neel

Oh, 'in terms of position'... I see...
Is the one project larger than the other? For example, the original perhaps at 800x600 and the new at 850x650?
Positioning may then be off relatively....
Pick a couple sample elements and note their x/y positions from the Properties panel in the first project (under 'Transform' in CP 5.5).
After pasting into the new, note those same x/y positions.
    Is there a noticable factor?
If this is the issue, be sure the sizes are the same, do the paste, then expand the project later (and maybe everything will retain its anchors?)
I've not seen this occur in newer versions of CP.
You could try checking the 'Constrain Proportions' option in the properties of the original, just in case that helps 'constrain the position' too...total guess...

  • Highlight boxes on "mistakes" in training simulation

    Hello,
I use CP5 for creating training simulation.
I am looking for a solution that a highlight box only appears when the user does a mistake (sorry, using the german CP version, don't know how the term is called in CP).
So when the user does not click onto the right field, a mistake-message box appears. Additionally I want that a highlight box appears on this event.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Julian

    Hey Lilybiri,
At the clickbox properties, I find the action for on success but not on failure. See the screenshot attached, enjoy the german language
Do I have to activate this action on failure somewhere?
I left the the recording preferences on default, there are no highlight boxes in the training simulation automatically.
    Cheers,
    Julian

  • Moving a highlight box

I can create a highlight box, and set it to "Fill outer area."
Then I want to move the box using effects.  Unfortunately, the backgound stays the same size, so that when it is moved, gaps appear where the background has shifted away from the edges of the slide.
How can I make the background of the highlight area continue to cover the entire slide throughout the move?
    Help!  And thanks.

I had thought of adding a second box to mask the hole made by moving the highlight box, but it IS very fiddly.  Lining it up so that it doesn't overlap, and making sure both move as one.
Can you attach/link/group a highlight box and a regular box to move and act as a single entity?
I think I have found a workaround.  Using Photoshop, create a mask that is larger than the stage in Captivate.  Set its opacity to less-than 100%.  Cut a hole in the middle, then save it as a PSD.  This can be imported into Cap, and it maintains the transparency.  Stick a motion path onto that and you are in business.  Of course, getting the hole the right size is the tricky part, but it does work.
I shouldn't have said that, as it gives Adobe less incentive to fix it.  Oh well, for all those interested...

  • Green highlight box appearing on the quiz submit button

    Hi all,
There is an unusual green highlight box appearing on my quiz slide when I roll my mouse over the 'submit' button (on the published version). This has never happened before, please help!
    Screenshot below
    Thanks for your help.
    Waterbottle1

    Hi,
When you move button on a Question slide then please make sure you move button parent area don't move internal  content of the button.
So, when we hover mouse on button then "Green background color" is used to depict OnFocus. Now if you move button content then hover area will be complete parent button area.
Please see attached screenshot to better understand.
So, in present question slide please move internal content of button in correct position or delete this Question slide and ad new question slide and move parent button area to change button position.
Let me know if this solve the problem.
    Thanks

  • Zoom Area Doesnt Work with Highlight Boxes, Etc...

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to Captivate 6 from version 5. I've noticed the the Zoom Area does not work in the Preview Mode with video recordings or with Highlight Boxes. The area will zoom, but any actions that are happening behind the Zoom Area box will not show. The Hihglight Boxes will appear but will not exit. Is this a known bug? It makes the Zoom Area worthless.
    Any assistance is appreciated.
    PC Specs:
    Windows 7 (32 bit) - SP1
    Dell Optiplex 780
    Processor- Intel Duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz/ 2.93Ghz

    Thanks

Are you looking for Zoom Area to display the action you showcased while recording?
I thing it would zoom the static content from the stage that you plan to zoom.
Can you check the Highlight box properties and their palcement, do they not work standalone or in co-ordination with Zoom?

  • Highlight Boxes

Is there a way to change the default color of the highlight
boxes? I know how to change the caption boxes but haven't located a
way to change the hightlight boxes.

    Welcome to our community, Diana!
Typically the highlight box *should* remain at the last
selected color. So if you inserted one and changed the color to
Red, the next one you insert should be Red.
However, I've also seen where this doesn't seem to hold true.
Another thing you can try is to configure the colors you wish, then
use the "Apply to all" function. This is a check box you find in
the lower left corner of the dialog.
Keep in mind that the Apply to all may not always apply to
all. Sometimes it may be a bit of hit and miss.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Captivate 5.5 - Change default highlight box settings before recording

Hi, I'm trying to change the color of the default highlight box added to recordings. I need to change this at the global settings level and not project and before recording starts. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Could you explain this 'at the global settings level and not project....'? What did you change? Normally you'll have to change the object style of the highlight box:
If you do this without opening the first CP-file, the style will be applied to all your new projects while recording.

  • How do I stop Captivate adding in text/highlight boxes when I film a project?

    Morning/Afternoon,
Whenever I film a new project Captivate 4 always adds in additional text boxes with "Click OK button" and "Opens Parameter Window" and also adds in it's own highlight boxes.  How do I turn this off?  It's not that much of a problem as I have to go in and edit every screen anyway but I was wondering if there was a way to stop them appearing in the first place.
Thank you very much for your help,
    Michelle

    Hi there
You do this by changing the Recording preferences.
Click Edit > Preferences... > Recording > Modes and choose one of the modes. Demonstration seems a likely choice.
Select or clear the desired options.
Click the image below for full size view.

  • Captivate 4 and highlight box

I have this project where a slide shows a button in my application the
    user should press.
I have this caption with the text "Clique no botão Entregar" and a highlight box with the option Fill outer area checked.
I want to know WHY the highligth box is always going to the upper level, even when my caption is placed over all objects.
    This is what I want:
And this is what I got when I preview the current slide.
This is what I got after publishing:
    Any clues?

    Hi there
What you posted seems to imply that you just looked at the timeline and ensured the Caption is the top layer. That is totally different than adding a totally new element to the slide.
The thing is, somehow, internally the application has become confused with which object is the top layer. And by introducing a totally new object, it should reshuffle the layering. Then you can delete the original caption.
Now if that's what you did and things aren't working, my guess is that you will need to re-create the slide and ensure things are added in the appropriate order. Perhaps the slide has become corrupt.
    Cheers... Rick
