Weird glitch in Reconnect Files windows.

Hello there,
Have any of you encountered this glitch in FCP? It's impossible to Cancel, Open or Connect to anything and you must force quit and re-start FCP.

(Mmm? How do i get this picture thing to work?)

Yes, trashed prefs etc.
It's really weird, I've had it happen before and just cut my loses and force-quit. This time I thought I'd flag it up.
It's not just me, I worked at another studio a while ago and a guy there was pulling his hair out as he was 'trapped' in the Reconnect stage, had to force quit. Also, my work colleague here has experienced it.
I've tried to re-create the exact circumstances of the glitch, but can't get it to work, so maybe it's completely random? Who knows.

  • Weird glitch in Viewer window Retina Display

I've been successfully running Final Cut Studio in Mountain Lion on my 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display for over a week now with no major problems. I am however noticing a weird glitch in the Viewer window in FCP7 playback. It's like a glitch where like a digital band sort of buzzes on the screen randomly when playing back. It doesn't always happen, but just sometimes.
The footage is rendered and doesn't have any 3rd party plug ins or filters on it. Just color correct 3 way and it is rendered.
The footage is ProResLT from a Canon 5DMKII playing off of a LaCie Rugged 500GB hard drive connected via USB 3.0.
The original footage is fine if I look at it on another computer or another monitor so this leads me to believe it is due to the Retina display since this is the first time I have ever experienced it. Has anyone else encountered this?

can't help you directly since I don't have the same equipment configuration, but...
Have you tried recompressing the material as a different kind of prores?  What are the pixel dimensions on the footage?
Have you tried hooking up an external monitor?
You say this just occurs in the viewer, but do you really mean just the viewer (which with the standard screen configuration is the left monitor) or does this happen with video playing on either the viewer of canvas.  Do you see this when you play full screen?

  • Weird glitches since the last Leopard upgrade to 10.5.5

Since I upgraded to 10.5.5 on my mac pro about a week and a half ago, I've been experiencing some weird glitches. Here's a list...if you have any ideas I'm open to suggestions.
    - computer not always waking from sleep mode (have to shut down manually and reboot)
    - one of my games, Soldier of Fortune II Double Helix with Gold Patch crashes after every change to a new map - it's not related to the server I'm connecting to because I play on multiple servers and it does them in all, it just started doing this since the upgrade...I even reinstalled my game
    - another game I played last night - Unreal Tournament 2004, I played on a local LAN with my husband and my video froze...my screen went completely black although for a few seconds I could still heard the sounds of the game and then completely black and no sound, I had to manually shut down my system to get out of it
    - tonight, as I was logged into msn messenger chatting, I noticed that when I had the program maximized (it nests on the right hand side of my monitor) that all of my files on the desktop, including my mounted disks looked like they had scooted over to the left...so I minimized it and then maximized it again and the files and mounted disks were underneath the window as they should be
As I sit and describe these, it's obvious to me that all of these instances are video related somehow, or appear to be. If anyone knows specifically if there was a video update of some kind in the 10.5.5 update, that might explain it. The only other thing I can think of that might be attributing to this is that I have enabled time machine to do backups. That is the only other thing that is different than before aside from the update to 10.5.5. Actually, I just looked at my settings for time machine and I turned it off the other day. Thanks Jen

Absolutely. Let me just clarify here. I love my mac and have never been more satisfied with a product the way I have been with my macs (iMac G5 & Mac Pro). The reason I made the investment in 2005 was because of Windows crashing on me on almost a weekly basis, with me finally ending up loosing very important data. There is no contest - to me - between the stability of the Mac OS versus Windows. I could never see myself going back to Windows. I am very impressed with the support I receive through Apple Care and overall find it comprehensive. With that said, I would have to say that with both my G5 and my Mac Pro, both computers have ended up having bad hard drives and had to be replaced. Now, after getting my computer back, I am more inclined to believe that 99% of my problems had to do with a bad hard drive than anything else. I cannot believe how quiet my machine is now versus when I took it in. Perhaps the upgrade to 10.5.5. pushed it in limits that finally revealed it's problems, who knows. I personally will not be rolling back to an earlier version at this point because so far all of the problems I was experiencing are gone. Thanks to all of you for a very enlightening discussion. Thanks Jen

  • File window not updating modif. dates – and mysterious parallel universe discovered

The day started innocently enough when I tried to edit some <meta> content on a site I'm building and then saved my work. Little did I know...
DW's "File" window refused to update the "Modified" column of the files I worked on.  Open and closing the files shows that my changes have been recognized and incorporated into the HTML, and the files show up with correct modification dates in Finder (I'm on a Mac). They just won't change date in DW.
When I upload the modified-but-not-redated-in-DreamWeaver files to my remote site, they appear with the incorrect dates on the server, but a text comparison in DW shows that my local and remote files are synched.
Now for the truly weird part: when I run the site in Safari (after flushing its cache), a Source check shows the old code is still operational.  (I also changed the titles of the pages in question to quickly confirm which version was being displayed. This check shows the old title displayed.)
    Here's the site address:  http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html
Now for the truly, truly wierd part.  I have a parallel site ( http://www.queen-of-the-northern-mines.com/index.html ) which contains copies of the bearriverbooks.com files. These files, too, show the wrong modification dates in DW's "Files" window and on the remote server – but they display correctly. Anyone who wants to check can compare page titles, which are longer in the later pages with correct code.
I checked the remote site addresses in the "Manage Sites..." center.  I have not crossed my wires there (though I can smell a few arcing badly in my brain.).
    The players:  2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 27" iMac running Mac OSX 10.6.7  /  Dreamweaver CS5 v.11.0 Build 4964
    Thanks in advance,
    Richard Hurley
    Grass Valley MultiMedia

I am having the same issue on a Mac 3.4Ghz i7 running Mac OS 10.7.  I have Dreamweaver CS 5.5 v.11.5 Build 5344.
I have a linux webserver, running ProFTPD v.1.3.1
Both my mac and my linux server are set to the correct date and time.
And ls on the linux servers tells me the files have the correct modified date and time, but this is getting lost in translation to dreamweaver when I view the remove server in the File tab.
    Any help appreciated.

  • PSE 7 reconnect file bug?

I have copied the following from a 2008 message which appears to address my problem, but I cannot figure out how to get to the advised thread. I tried searching on the apparent title words, but the result was always this same message.
COPIED FROM 19 OCT 2008 MESSAGE FROM JOHN ELLIS:
"If you reconnect a file and get the message <old file> was not connected to <new file> or The file already exists in the catalog, then youve stumbled over a PSE bug for which there are workarounds.   See this thread:<br /><br /><a href="/webx?14@@.59b66777/5">John Rolfe Ellis, "Cannot Reconnect; File already exists" #6, 17 Sep 2008 2:49 pm</a><br /><br"
My husband put a new, larger hard drive into my computer and transferred all my files to the new one which is now the master C: drive. I have tried and tried to reconnect my files, individually and as a group, but I always receive the error message listed below in John Ellis's message. Has anything been done to correct this bug, if that's what it is? I cannot simply move everything back to the old F: drive, because now there are new photos mixed in and I've reorganized the folders. I can find the pictures manually, but can't get the program to accept my choices. I'm really beginning to regret spending the money to upgrade to PSE 7, especially as the program crashes or freezes up, too, but I'll deal with one problem at a time! BTW, I'm usiing Windows XP, service pack 3.
    Thanks for any help possible.

    Kathy,
Hmm, the output is still truncated.  I've attached an example of what it should look like below -- after "PSE Volume Table" should be many lines.
    1. Did you reply via email, or did you reply by coming back to the forum in your Web browser?  (You need to do the latter -- email replies don't always work.)
    2. In the Notepad that "psedbtool" popped up with the contents of "output.log", is it possible that some of the output wasn't showing (scrolled out of view)?  Do Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy, and then paste.
Here's what it should look like:

  • Problems trying to reconnect files in PE10 organizer

I have PE10 on a Windows 7 computer.  I have a library of 11,000 images.  Somehow last weekend, the Catalog converted the drive letter on all the paths of all the image files to the wrong letter.  Otherwise, the paths and filenames are fine.
So I'm trying to Reconnect files.  Being cautious, I am starting with selecting a few files and doing File-->Reconnect-->Missing File.  However, it doesn't work.  I've done about 10-15 groups at this point. It starts a laborious search thru my directory files.  About 25-30% of the time, PE10 fails.  I get a pop-up error dialog that says "Elements 10 Organizer has stopped working." with only one button that says "Close Program".  When it doesn't fail, it goes to the end of the search (I presume), and then pops up the window to manually search for a file.  So it fails to find the right file(s), but in the manual window I can easily find the right file and it reconnects right away.
I am reluctant to try File-->Reconnect-->All Missing Files.  Reason: On the third group I did above, I got cocky and tried to do 1000 files at once.  That was the first time it bombed, and it trashed the assigned dates on some of my files.
So this is a nightmare.  I could manually reconnect, but I have 11,000 files in 100's of folders - it would take a long time.  How can I get Reconnect to work properly?
I don't have a backup that is recent enough to just do a restore.
    Thank you,
    Bill

After conversion, things match.  So the drive letters in the catalog database are correct (except the C: drive, but that doesn't matter here.)  Here are the contents of my volume_table:
    id
    description
    serial
    drive_path_if_builtin
    type
    104
    C:
    2765733514
    C:
    builtin_drive
    80453
    P:
    3969101216
    P:
    builtin_drive
    184869
    E:
    680486029
    E:
    builtin_drive
    420438
    database relative
    amoc:database_relative_volume
    database_relative_drive
And here are the volume_id entries in my media_table:
    volume_id
    count(volume_id)
    80453
    10302
    184869
    1559
These numbers are about right.  I have about 11,800 images.  When my failure occured, they all had the bogus "P:" in their pathnames.  Since then I've reconnected about 1500 files to the E: drive.
So at this point I'm thinking I'll try your idea of remapping my E: drive to P: in Windows.  But I'll wait until you respond, in case you have a better idea.
    Thanks again,
    Bill

  • "Files" Window issue

OK, I'm green. This is probably a "duh" moment. DW CS6 on a Mac.
    I had this problem:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3980330
...and when I applied the fix, that worked, but now when I open my "Files" window, I don't know how to reconnect to my ftp. All the settings are there in "Manage sites/edit". The button is grayed out. Thanks.

It's because you have selected the icon for the repository server. The one you should select is shown in the following screen shot.

  • Getting Weird Glitches After Rendering

I'm doing a big project with a lot of Motion files that we render in FCP. I had to have them as motion files versus QT because... long story, but after much trial and error it was the best solution.
Maybe a ten to twenty percent of the time, when I render these bits of the sequence, they get weird glitches. Sometimes lines across the non-alpha section of the motion file. Sometimes flashes of color across part of the video. When I simple copy the clip, delete the bad one, drop the copy in, and then rerender, it works fine. We were rendering to an external eSata drive. We're now rendering to an internal eSata drive-- just to see if that makes a difference.
Anybody ever seen this problem before?
    Thank you,
    Alex

NTSC, started as Digibeta. The Motion files however were created from image sequences that were starting as PAL. We converted them and have had good results, except for this 10-20% with glitches on rendering.
    Thank you,
    Alex

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

  • "Save Pdf File" window

    Hi,
I have an Access 2000 aplication which works fine with Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro
    -you select a product name
-a PDF file is generated from this product's "Report"
    -and it's sent by mail
It is a VBA code which stores: folder name, file name, printer name into Windows Registry
I have migrated the file to Access 2007 and now there is a problem.
It opens a "Save Pdf file" window and asks me to select a folder and to enter a file name.
Seems that name and folder retrieve from the registry is not working.
What is it? What can I do to resolve the problem? Any idea?
    Thanks,

I searched without success ...How to find it?
    I have this:
' Put the output filename where Acrobat could find it
    bSetRegValue HKEY_CURRENT_USER, _
                     "Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl", _
                     Find_Exe_Name("application", "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\MSACCESS.EXE"), _

  • Two file windows disappear if I use extend screen to compare 2 lessons

I use a laptop and an extra screen in "Extended" mode. I drag out one file window from Captivate and maximise it to the full screen size. I drag out the other file window, and make it as large as possible on the laptop.
When I move to another app (e.g. Outlook) , I lose both these file windows and can't find them again without closing them and reopening them. Usually, if Word is in the extra screen, it still shows as a window in the task bar. This does not happen for the Captivate file windows despite having the standard functionality window controls.
My question is where in Captivate can you bring back these files when they disappear? I checked the windows menu but to no avail.

  • How to Back Up User Files (Windows 7 64-bit ) in HP laptop?

    He everybody!
    I have a HP laptop
    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex
    Product Number : LM610EA#A2N
I have  read 'How to Back Up User Files (Windows Vista or XP)'
Back up files with the HP Recovery Manager
The HP Recovery Manager is used to back up user files to an external USB storage device.
1-Boot to the recovery partition 1. by pressing F11 .
    2. Click Advanced Options .
    3. Click Backup computer files .
4-Select the type of files you need to back up from the list and then click Next . It will take several
minutes to locate all of the files, no matter where they are on the hard drive.
    5. Select the destination device (external USB hard drive or a USB flash drive/Memory Stick).
    6. Click Next to start the backup.
New files will be backed up. Depending on the number of files located, it could take an hour or more to backup
    the file.
However, When I have done those steps I encountered these:
First: I didn't see any option to save the files in an external hard disk or even another partition other than Windows partition.
Second: I haven't find any option to back up my files in other partition other than Windows partition, I have let Recovery manager proceed to save at any place it prefers. After that, I found that Recovery Manager gave me an error during copying the files :
Recovery Manager failed in finishing backup files, error: FFFFFF14, although the percentage of progress was %67
Also, I have enough free space on Windows partition.

Would it be quite good if anyone could take some time out to reply me?

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1.  The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • How to arrange files in the files window?

    Hello,
I just finished doing the cut of a movie in Premiere Pro and hit the the "edit in Audition" button to do the music and audio. And now the problem: when Audition opened I just saw the hundreds of audio files in the file window (2 for every scene) and until now I didn't find out any possibility to arrange them in subfolders or anything else like you do it in AE or Premiere.
So right now Audition is more or less useless as I have to spend minutes to find my music files within the other files...
    Thanks for any proposals...

What option did you use to send your files over?  There's two "paradigms" for editing in Audition from within Premiere.  The first is editing of specific assets or clips.  In this case, you select one or more clips and choose Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition > Edit Clip which will perform a render & replace operation, then open the new, linked files in Audition.  Any change you make to these files in Audition will be reflected in the corresponding Premiere clip.  This is generally the mode used when you want to perform Noise Reduction or add effects to specific clips.
The other paradigm is editing the entirety of the sequence.  This method creates a new session in Audition that mirrors your current Premiere timeline, even rendering a preview video.  Here, you can apply edits to any clip in the timeline within Audition, re-record portions, add new audio, and mix and master the session, sending back rendered stems to Premiere.
Audition doesn't emulate the "project" format of Premiere, so the Files panel is less of an organizational tool than a collection of the raw assets in a timeline.  We are exploring how the "bin" concept that Pr and AE use might be applied, but historically there is a definite distinction between the two workflows.
