Weird google calendar issue on iPhone 5/iOS 6.1

Hey all,
So I just noticed an issue on my new iPhone 5 w/ iOS 6.1:
I use a google calendar with several shared calendars from co-workers. In the past, to set this up, all I did was add a gmail account as an Exchange account, go to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect, and select all the shared calendars I want synced to my iPhone.
Now when I do that, the shared calendars do NOT show up. In fact, the only way I can get them to show up is to add the gmail account as a GMAIL account - NOT as an Exchange account - and then go to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect and select the shared calendars I want synced to my iPhone. The only problem here, though, is that then I don't have push email.
Thus the solution seems to add the email part of my google account as an Exchange account, and the calendar part as a Gmail account. This seems like a really inelegant solution. Anybody experienced similar issues and figure out how to make it all work from one account?
Thanks!

I don't know for certain as I'm not having this problem and have multiple Google calendars syncing through Exchange. However, Google has dropped support for Exchange except on the paid accounts (I think) at the end of January. If you were already using it, it will continue to work. I wonder if, because you're trying to add new calendars, it won't let you.
Except for having two entries in your settings, I'm not sure what the problem is with adding the calendars separately. It should end up looking just the same. I agree, not perfect, but, how often do you look at that part of settings?
Best of luck.

  • Using Google Calendar with my Iphone.

I use Google Calendar with my Iphone. When I delete a recurring event it gets deleted from Google Calendar but not from my Iphone.

Try: Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Select your Gmail Account>Change the Calendar tab from "on" to "off".  It will alert you that your calendar account will be deleted.  That's ok.  Delete the Calendar account. Wait about ten seconds and then turn the Calendar tab back "on". See if doing this fixes things.

  • IPhone and Google Calendar issue

I'm going mental trying to figure something out here and I hope that someone can help me.
My wife and I both have an iphone, and, gmail accounts and wanted to have a calendar used by both of us so we can update different reminders and events and have them sync over the air. easy enough. Right ?
I created my calender under gmail. Set it up on my iphone, and, all is working fine. If I create an event on the gmail calendar, it gets pushed to my phone, and, it happens the other way around also. perfect. that part is good.
Now, I get my wife's phone and set hers up to "subscribe" to my calendar. All seems to work fine, but, for some reason, she isn't getting pop-up alerts on her phone when an event happens.
If I update something on my calendar, and, she opens up my calendar on her iphone, she can see that there is a new event, but, it doesn't pop-up a reminder on her phone when it's time. It kinda defeats the purpose of this utility.
I made sure on her gmail page that she has pop-up reminders on. am I missing something?
I've been subscribing and unsubscribing to my calender (with her phone for hours now) trying to figure out what Im doing wrong, and Im about to go mad.
    Any ideas?

I got it figured out. Thanks for your quick and detailed help "Randy Fast"

  • Google Calendars not showing up on iOS 7 after deletion and re-entering of information

This issue started when I was trying to get a shared Google calendar on my device. When I deleted the Gmail account completely and re-entered information, none of the Google calendars would show up. The calendar sharing is enabled from the Google account. I know that for sure because I can see them on Calendar on my mac. CalDAV does not work.
    iPhone 5c
    iOS 7.1.2

I had a similar problem as you and went through the different suggestions with no success. What did it for me in the end was a simple "reset all settings" under Settings app -> General -> Reset. You will have to reconfigure a few things e.g. wifi password, wallpaper setting, ringtone etc; but you will regain access to your calendar sync.
(I updated from iPad 2 with iOS 6.1 to iPad Air, used the back up and restore option. The old gmail calendar (which used the exchange protocol) appeared but I soon realised that all the new events I added since then were not synced to the iPad air, i.e. the iPad Air is only displaying all the calendar items that were already there in the iPad 2 but it's not actually synced to the Google server. I then deleted the exchange account altogether (as I realised Google stopped supporting the exchange protocol in new devices), and tried to set up a new CalDAV account via the instructions by Google, and this is how I ran into "no calendar showing" situation)

  • Google calendar in ical iPhone

So I made a google calendar with my work email. I have it synced with my mac but I can't get it to show up on my iphone.
In Ical on my mac, I added the calendar in preferences but on my phone it won't accept a non-google email.
I am hoping i am missing something simple.
    thoughts?

Peter, what did you finally do? I have similar issue trying to solve. I have Google Apps for work, Google Apps personal along with iphone, Mac Address book. I appreciated your outline of options and what they do.
Did you decide on an approach that works?

  • Why am I getting double popup alerts for Google Calendar events on iPhone?

This is happening on both mine and my wife's iPhones (mine is a 4 and hers is a 3GS) which are both on the latest iOS (6.0.1).  This is what I've figured out:
On iPhones: Default is to set no alerts/reminder for calendar events
On Google Calendar: Default is to set a popup alert 1 hour before event & email 1 hour before event
When I create a new event on my iPhone: It saves with no alerts set, then after uploading to google calendar it shows as having two alerts 1 hour before the event.  If I go into Google Calendar, it shows that 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event.
When I create a new event on in Google Calendar: It saves with 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event per the default settings.  If I go to my iPhone, it shows that I have 2 alerts, both for 1 hour before the event.
So it seems that the iPhone is seeing both the popup and email alerts and creating two popup alerts on my phone!
Is there anyway to fix this?  I've tried setting up the calendar on my iPhone through Gmail account, Exchange account and CalDav account and it's all the same.

I figured it out.  It has to do with which calendars you want displayed.  Duplications come from multiple calender selections.

  • My google calendar on my PC will no longer sync to my google calendar in my iPhone! Help

So, I've had my iPhone since September of 2011--and it has synced beautifully with my Google calendar, until very recently!  Now, I will put an event in my google calendar when I'm on my PC, and the event will show-up only on my Google calendar on my computer and NOT sync with my iPhone whereas it WOULD in the past.  Same issue when I put an event in my iPhone's google calendar--it will show-up on there and send me reminders, but it will not show-up in my Google calendar on my computer.  Weirdest of all---I will get push notifications of events from my iPhone for events that I put in my Google calendar from my PC; however, it will not show the event actually in my calendar when I view it.  It's driving me nuts!  I live by my calendar so this is causing all kinds of frustrations!
    PLEASE HELP.

    Try this
Settings>Mail Contacts and Calendars >tap the mail account - delete account - re-add the gmail account
Or Export your calendar and use iCloud

  • A very weird Google Calendar problem

I have two Google Calendar accounts.  Let's call them A and B.  I have them both connected to my iPhone through CalDAV.  Account A works perfectly.  Account B works perfectly except for one thing: if I make a change in calendar B, then those changes don't show up on my iPhone UNLESS I go onto Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calendars->Sync and change the setting.  After I do that, the next time I go into Calendar, both calendars will update, but then calendar B will not update again until I make another change to the sync setting.  Both accounts are configured identically as far as I can tell.  I'm running a fairly ancient version of iOS (3.1.3 on an iPhone 3G).  Any suggestions for how to proceed (short of buying a new phone) would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Synced Google Calendar issue

I have my iPhone4 synced to my Google account to pull Google calendars.  I have 3 calendars.  One of them I DO NOT want to be connected.  I repeatedly uncheck it from the Calendars list and after a seemingly random amount of time, my iPhone re-checks the calendar.  I also get push notifications from this calendar, which I do not want.  Is there any way to keep this calendar unchecked for good (without unsyncing my Google account) or stop having just that calendar send push notifications?
Hope I was clear with this.
    Basically:
3 calendars from 1 Google account are synced.
I only want 2 of these calendars.
    I uncheck the 3rd one.
iPhone rechecks the 3rd one by itself.
I also receive push notifications from the 3rd calendar, even when unchecked. I do not want this.

Nuevasync bloged about the issue (the app have to make a full resync)

  • WiFi issues with iPhone 4S & ios 6 update

    Okay here is my issue...
I've been reading alot of issues that people have with connecting to WiFi with their new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or other devices but I have no trouble connecting to WiFi at all. My problem is that WiFi wont 'work'. The WiFi I'm hooked up to at home doesn't let me do basically anything that requires internet.
I can get on the Facebook app fine and my newsfeed loads but I can't see Facebook notifications, upload photos or videos, read inboxes, look at photos, its very slow etc.
I can't get into the App Store or iTunes at all. It says it 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store' when I try.
I can't upload photos onto Instagram
Currently I'm into the Simpsons Tapped Out game and I can't go onto it at all.
And there are a few other minor issues I am having.
All these things I can do with my Telstra 3G network however and it ***** because I want to use and do all these things but I have to use my 3G and I've just recently gone over my data monthly usage and been charged extra which I'm not happy about.
So is anyone else having these issues or is it just me and I'm stuffed? I'd REALLY love some help.
I've been lost with what to do because as some are having WiFi issues as well, mine isnt the same and it's hard to find answers or just other discussions.
    Please Help!
    Thankyou.

I am having the same issue since updating to iOS 6.  It has been noticeable on my iPhone 4S and a little less noticeable on my iPad 3 but I think it is happening on the iPad too.  Very annoying problem.  One way to get it to work better is to re-boot your phone.  It will work for awhile then and then eventually not be working anymore and you will need to re-boot again.
Just to be clear with everyone - the iPhone looks like it is connected to the wireless, it gets an IP address but can't transmit any data.  Device:  iPhone 4S, OS:  iOS6

  • How do I sync the calendar on my Mavericks driven iMac with the calendar on my iPhone 4 IOS 7.0.4?

I want to sync my calendar from my Mavericks driven iMac to my iPhone 4 iOs 7.0.4. I used to do this easily through itunes but I have been informed I now have to use icloud to do so. I did not want to complicate my "mac" life by using icloud but have reluctantly tried to use it through both my phone and computer. Although I have been told that events will automatically update on both calendars, I am yet to see any evidence of this.
I feel unceratin about this whole process.
    Can anybody help?

This should work if you have the same settings for iCloud on the mac and the iphone and have the right things enabled:
    on your mac:
Check Applications > System Preferences > iCloud
in account details, make sure you have the same apple ID as on the iPhone.
make sure the checkbox is checked next to Calendars
check system preferences > Internet accountsmake sure there is an iCloud account enabled and that Calendars is checked.
    on your phone
    check settings > icloud
make sure the apple ID is the same as on the mac
make sure the little green switch for calendars is on
check settings > mail, contacts, calendarsmake sure there is an icloud account, that it has the same apple ID listed for "account" , and that the little green switch for "calendars" is on
Then it should work. If all that is set properly and it still doesn't work, then report back-

  • Problems syncing new google calendar delegates to iPhone 3

I got a iPhone 3 a few months ago and had no problem setting up calendar so that all of my google calendar delegates are visible in both iCal and on my iPhone. I haven't had any problems with getting events to update on all of my calendars regardless of which program I use to create/ edit the event, until now. I recently created a new google calendar delegate. I can access the delegate in both iCal and on google but for some reason I can't get the new delegate to sync to my iPhone. I've tried to edit the settings in all of the programs, i've edited events on the new calendar on google on my iPhone, on my computer and on iCal but I still can't get it to show up in calendar on my iPhone. Any suggestions on fixing this problem?

I didn't know it was possible. How do I find an option to subscribe to a new calendar from within the iPhone? I've always subscribed via synching.
