Weird Graphics Performance Issue

Whenever I do something graphics intensive at all, my MBP performs fine, showing 60FPS+ all the time, however after about 5 or 10 minutes, it'll start chugging, shown in this video: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/4013/dr3szozhspixisyrfhgjoz.mp4
I've tried everything, resetting PRAM, Reinstalling OSX and formatting everything, deleting all running apps and putting each one back to see if any were causing the problem...
I'm a CIS major so I should know what's wrong here, but I just can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Copy the text on the line below:
smcHandleInterruptEvent
and paste it in the Filter text field. You may see some messages like this:
SMC::smcHandleInterruptEvent WARNING status=0x0 (0x40 not set) notif=0x0
The timestamps of those messages (if any) indicate the times, since the log was last cleared, when the processor was being throttled because of high temperature.

  • Graphics performance issues as virtualbox guest

    Hi everyone,
I've been running arch natively on my 2013 macbook pro retina for a while but recently decided to run it in virtualbox hosted in OSX. I've got arch installed and am running gnome shell in the virtual machine, the problem I'm having is that the graphics performance is terrible, windows judder and lag when moving them around the desktop and scrolling is extremely jerky. Things i have done:
    - I have installed the guest additions and made sure the guest modules are loaded.
    - I have checked the 'enable 3D acceleration' box in virtualbox settings
    - I have also checked that DRI is enabled using glxinfo.
One possible complication is that i am running virtualbox beta 5 but I have also tried with the stable edition and experienced the same issues.
I have no idea how to diagnose this and don't even know if acceptable performance is possible with this set up so any help is very welcome.
    Thanks
    Alex

Does your glxinfo show "Gallium" or "Chromium" as the renderer (not related to the browser)?  If it shows Gallium, 3D acceleration is not working.
You mention running Gnome; If you're using GDM as your desktop manager, that's likely to be your issue.  Gnome itself is fine, but GDM 3.16 breaks 3d acceleration in virtualbox guests. There's a bug open on the Gnome Bugzilla about it: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749390
Try switching to LightDM; that fixes it for me.  If that solves your problem you might want to add to the bug report.

  • IMac 27 mid 2010 graphics performance issue

    Hi all
my iMac has a strange problem and I need to understand how to fix it.
First of all, this my configuration:
    iMac 27'' - 2.8 ghz - 12 Gb RAM - ATI 5750 1GB GDDR5, Mountain Lion 10.8.2
The problem is simple. After a while, the graphic performance slows down quickly with fluctuant speed (fast then slow, then fast...). I've noticed that in 3D games, in Photoshop and in other applications that uses GPU or intense graphics operations (also Finder animation like window animations)...
I can't understand if it's a hardware failure (but note that Apple made me an AHT just a couple of days ago, during the 1 Tb Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program and nothing was found) or a Software problem... But OSX is a fresh install, for example...
Is there a way to check GPU deeply?
Please help me, i'm really hopeless

It certainly sounds possible that your video card is failing.  You might want to reboot from your Original Installation Disk and run the AHT (Apple Hardware Test) or the Extended Apple Hardware Test to check for hardware failiure.. Other than that, time for a trip to the Apple Store for a check up.
    Hope this helps

  • Major graphics performance issues suddenly. (Retina 15")

I've been getting back into playing World of Warcraft in the last few weeks. I love that my 15" Retina MBP with the high-end processor and 16GB of RAM can run it as smooth as silk on High graphics settings.
Suddenly, however, it's stopped doing just that.
Last night it was working fine. Today, I fired up the machine and frame rates in WoW are almost unplayable. I thought it might be a problem with the game client so I tried every troubleshooting method I could. Nothing made an impact. Then I realized that the familiar sound of the laptop fans spinning up to help keep things cool didn't exist. The fans aren't running at all while I play.
That led me to start thinking it's a hardware issue. So I launched a few other games (Starcraft 2, Diablo 3) and they both had very similar frame rate issues.
So now I'm wondering if there's a solution to this problem that won't have me booking a visit to the Genius Bar at my local Apple store. Is there some way I can diagnose, via software, that my video cards are working properly. I've already verified that the machine is using the Nvidia 650M card while the game is running.
    Running OS 10.8.2

According to the "System Information" app it was using the NVIDIA card. However, I think it was confused. I suspect that it *thought* it was using the NVIDIA card when it was actually using the on-board graphics.
During my troubleshooting I did go into Energy Saver control panel and force it to always use "high performance" graphics. I did this and then ran a benchmarking tool that I found online - "NovaBench" - and when it ran the GPU test it said it was using the on-board graphics despite the System Information telling me it was using the NVIDIA card.
Regardless, everything is back to normal now.

  • Sprite.graphics performance issue...

    Hello,
I have been working on a pretty big project in flash. To
start with, I designed my components in the authoring tool (mostly
because I did not have an idea on how I wanted them to look). Once
I got my story straight, I put everything together and I had a good
look at my application. It was great. It was moving so fast that I
    couldn't believe it was flash...
Then, I started replacing the pre-drawn components with
Sprites and Shapes drawn in AS3 via Sprite/Shape.graphics and
adding them as child with Sprite.addChild.
I absolutely DID NOT change anything else.
By the time I was finished, I noticed that my great
performance was not there anymore... For example: I have a
scrolling feature (when I click a sprite a few other sprites move
up a few lines). It used to be instantaneous. Now there is a delay
of about 1 second or more between the release of the mouse button
and the actual scrolling. (Also, I have the previous version of the
project and I can clearly see the time difference. So I am not
    imagining things :)).
I have backtracked my work several times and there is no "one
thing" that causes this... it just ads up as I convert from
pre-drawn components to dynamically drawn ones.
Also, I should mention that all my pre-drawn components were
sprites with "Instance Names" (not shapes with no name).
So, my question is: is there a performance difference between
using Sprites pre-drawn in the authoring tool versus Sprites
    created in AS3?
Appreciate all the help. Thank you.
    Tony
PS: I can not go back to pre-drawn components because that
will take away from the flexibility of the application.

  • Weird little performance issue

    Greetings,
Some of my applications show history plots (like in the MS Windows
taskmanager CPU load plot). Everything works fine except for one little
    anomaly on just one machine:
In certain situations I cant use the Graphics.drawPolyline method,
so I draw little line segments from point (x, y) to point (x+1, y') where y
and y' can be different values.
Here's the silly thing I noticed on that single machine: if y == y'' everything
runs at top speed, i.e. effectively one single horizontal line is drawn, but
if y != y'' for at least one sample point, the thing shows hiccups and
    slows down tremendously.
I just can't understand why this nasty little phenomenon roars its ugly
little head. I do realise this is a vague question, I do realise that this
happens on only one machine, but still I'm wondering ...
There are no excessive repaints, no complicated calculations going on,
no threads eating up performance etc. It's just that one single machine
that slows down pathetically when it has to draw little line segments
that are not horizontal line segments. FYI if I use the drawPolyline (and
end up with the wrong stuff), everything keeps on driving full speed.
    Any relevant comments anyone?
    kind regards,
    Jos

    A stab in the dark:
If it's Windows, could it be a direct draw problem?
See: docs/guide/2d/flags.htmlI've tried almost all possible flag combinations to no avail: drawing
non-vertical or non-horizontal single lines is hopeless on that single
machine. Using a drawPolyline goes as fast as on all the
other machines ... (drawing single lines on the other machines runs
fast too). Unfortunately I can't use drawPolyline here, because
a lot of little line segments need to be coloured differently ...
Oh well, I guess it's hacking time again ;-)
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • Graphics performance issues

Hello. I have a late 2013 retina macbook pro. I also have windows 7 installed using bootcamp and parallels to run the bootcamp if i want. Usually i only use windows for a sim game that i play. The game seems to get "hung up" and my fps goes down to nothing then all of a sudden it starts working again. The game will freeze for very quick moment then go back to normal. I have the latest nvidia driver installed on the bootcamp partition but this still hasn't solved my problems. What can i do?

  • 30EA3- 2.*: Weird performance issues for editing objects

    Hi,
I noticed weird performance issues for editing objects: when right-clicking on them in the navigator tree and selecting Edit, you get the old progress dialog "Connected to database XXX". This stays on screen a lot longer than it ever did (last sequence I edited over 30 seconds!).
Cancelling displays a "Error retrieving schemas" dialog, but then opens the Edit dialog correctly. No further side effects noticed, so I think sqldev is adding useless overhead here.
If confirmed, can this be bugged and/or fixed by production?
    Thanks,
    K.

Yes, I mean in context of other hangs reported. This one is a nasty performance issue, but IMO the others are real show stoppers.
Atomic steps are easy; any* Edit (object) action inside the context menu of the navigator or the Edit button of the object viewer.
I took a lot of dumps (every second or so) and came to these findings:

  • All kinds of weird graphical issues

Out of the blue I've had all kinds of weird graphical glitches happening on my macbook.
-The check-mark that shows what network I'm using under the airport menu bar is upside-down
-The spotlight menu background is now light gray instead of blue
-Some icons for applications I'm running on the dock keep growing bigger, cutting off the image
-Some buttons have graphical glitches when clicked on
-The r/y/g buttons at the top left of windows have a sharp top-right corner
I'm sure there's more stuff happening with all this going crazy, but that's what I've noticed so far. I'd post pictures here if I could.
    Any ideas?

I would run the AHT "Apple Hardware Test". It is included with your system restore discs. There could be graphics chip errors (voltage etc) or it could be software based. I am betting it is SW based as I have had this issue before with hard corners on the windows and general graphic anomalies.
Also try booting to MAC OS on your machine from different source. Disc or Hard Disk.
Failing all that I think I fixed my issue a few years ago with an Archive and Install. It will replace your System Folder but keep all your user data. Then patch with the combo update to 10.6.6.

  • Y50-70 (432200) performance issue

    Hello!
    I have a Y50-70 (432200) and I have a weird performance issue.
In a normal usage the notebook works excellently, but just as I start any kind of games the phenomenon appears.
It's like an FPS lag. It last for about 2 seconds and at this time the FPS rates drops down dramatically. In this 2 seconds it can be detected that the temperature of the CPU increases, the CPU takes back from performance and the cooling fan also lowers it's speed. And just as suddenly as this appears it disappears to. And after a few seconds 2-5) it start all over again.
I tried it with several games on different graphic setting from the lowest to the highest, but it happent all the time.
I also tried to update all the drivers and set all the possible performance setting to performance mode, but it doesn't helped. I also use a notebook cooler.
    I'm using a Win8.1
Does anyone have any knowledge about this kind of phenomenon? Or any idea how I can get rid of it?

    Hi,
I don't think that would be the problem because I have a Western Digital WDC WD10SPCX-24HWST1 in it which isn't a poor one I think. On other hand this notebook is about 3 weeks old, and I don't want to lose my warranty with disassembling it.

  • Apple DVI to Video Adapter performance issues in Lion

I'm an active Apple DVI to Video Adapter user for a couple of years already and everything worked perfectly well until I've upgraded to Lion.
Everything on my TV screen is lagging now, even mouse pointer, and there is no change to watch any movie like that.
Does anyone have the same issue? Maybe someone could give me an advice of what could I do in order to improve graphics performance on TV screen using Apple DVI to Video Adapter? I'm using late 2007 MBP with 8600M GT video adapter.

I am having the exact same problem.  I have a late 2007 MBP. I use it everyday where I teach.  I use the adapter to project on a large white screen using S-Video.  SInce the Lion update, it is very slow and has even completely crashed my computer a few times.  I realize the MBP is getting a bit dated, but the difference between Snow Leopard & Lion is remarkable.

After many days of tests, I wanna share my results with community and comment them.
    CPU Introduction
I tested my cpu and pushed it at maximum speed to understand where is the limit, can I reach this limit and I've logged precisely all result in graph (See pictures 1).
Intro : I tested my E5-XEON 2687W (8 Cores Hyperthread - 16 threads) to know if programs can use the maximum of it.  I used Prime 95 to get the result.  // I know this seem to be ordinary, but you will understand soon...
The result : Yes, I can get 100% of my CPU with 1 program using 20 threads in parallel.  The CPU gives everything it can !
Comment : I put 3 IO (cpu, disk, ram) on the graph of my computer during the test...
    (picture 1)
    Disk Introduction
I tested my disk and pushed it at maximum speed to understand where is the limit and I've logged precisely all result in graph (See pictures 2).
Intro : I tested my RAID 0 556GB (LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i SATA3 6GB/s 5 disks with Fastpath Chip Installed) to know if I can reach the maximum % disk usage (0% idle Time)
The result : As you can see in picture 2, yes, I can get the max of my drive at ~ 1.2 Gb/sec read/write steady !
Comment : I put 3 IO (cpu, disk, ram) on the graph of my computer during the test to see the impact of transfering many Go of data during ~10 sec...
    (picture 2)
Now, I know my limits !  It's time to enter deeper in the subject !
    PPBM5 (H.264) Result
I rendered the sequence (H.264) using Adobe Media Encoder.
    The result :
My CPU is not used at 100%, the turn around 50%
My Disk is totally idle !
All the process usage are idle except process of (Adobe Media Encoder)
The transfert rate seem to be a wave (up and down).  Probably caused by (Encrypt time....  write.... Encrypt time.... write...)  // It's ok, ~5Mb/sec during transfert rate !
CPU Power management give 100% of clock to CPU during the encoding process (it's ok, the clock is stable during process).
RAM, more than enough !  39 Go RAM free after the test !  // Excellent
~65 thread opened by Adobe Media Encoder (Good, thread is the sign that program try to using many cores !)
GPU Load on card seem to be a wave also ! (up and down)  ~40% usage of GPU during the process of encoding.
GPU Ram get 1.2Go of RAM (But with GTX 680, no problem and Quadro 6000 with 6 GB RAM, no problem !)
Comment/Question : CPU is free (50%), disks are free (99%), GPU is free (60%), RAM is free (62%), my computer is not pushed at limit during the encoding process.  Why ????  Is there some time delay in the encoding process ?
    Other : Quadro 6000 & GTX 680 gives the same result !
    (picture 3)
PPBM5 (Disk Test) Result (RAID LSI)
I rendered the sequence (Disk Test) using Adobe Media Encoder on my RAID 0 LSI disk.
    The result :
My CPU is not used at 100%
My Disk wave and wave again, but far far from the limit !
All the process usage are idle except process of (Adobe Media Encoder)
The transfert rate wave and wave again (up and down).  Probably caused by (Buffering time....  write.... Buffering time.... write...)  // It's ok, ~375Mb/sec peak during transfert rate !  Easy !
CPU Power management give 100% of clock to CPU during the encoding process (it's ok, the clock is stable during process).
RAM, more than enough !  40.5 Go RAM free after the test !  // Excellent
~48 thread opened by Adobe Media Encoder (Good, thread is the sign that program try to using many cores !)
GPU Load on card = 0 (This kind of encoding is GPU irrelevant)
GPU Ram get 400Mb of RAM (No usage for encoding)
Comment/Question : CPU is free (65%), disks are free (60%), GPU is free (100%), RAM is free (63%), my computer is not pushed at limit during the encoding process.  Why ????  Is there some time delay in the encoding process ?
    (picture 4)
PPBM5 (Disk Test) Result (Direct in RAMDrive)
I rendered the same sequence (Disk Test) using Adobe Media Encoder directly in my RamDrive
Comment/Question : Look at the transfert rate under (picture 5).  It's exactly the same speed than with my RAID 0 LSI controller.  Impossible !  Look in the same picture the transfert rate I can reach with the ramdrive (> 3.0 Gb/sec steady) and I don't go under 30% of disk usage.  CPU is idle (70%), Disk is idle (100%), GPU is idle (100%) and RAM is free (63%).  // This kind of results let me REALLY confused.  It's smell bug and big problem with hardware and IO usage in CS6 !
    (picture 5)
    PPBM5 (MPEG-DVD) Result
I rendered the sequence (MPEG-DVD) using Adobe Media Encoder.
    The result :
My CPU is not used at 100%
My Disk is totally idle !
All the process usage are idle except process of (Adobe Media Encoder)
The transfert rate wave and wave again (up and down).  Probably caused by (Encoding time....  write.... Encoding time.... write...)  // It's ok, ~2Mb/sec during transfert rate !  Real Joke !
CPU Power management give 100% of clock to CPU during the encoding process (it's ok, the clock is stable during process).
RAM, more than enough !  40 Go RAM free after the test !  // Excellent
~80 thread opened by Adobe Media Encoder (Lot of thread, but it's ok in multi-thread apps!)
GPU Load on card = 100 (This use the maximum of my GPU)
GPU Ram get 1Gb of RAM
Comment/Question : CPU is free (70%), disks are free (98%), GPU is loaded (MAX), RAM is free (63%), my computer is pushed at limit during the encoding process for GPU only.  Now, for this kind of encoding, the speed limit is affected by the slower IO (Video Card GPU)
Other : Quadro 6000 is slower than GTX 680 for this kind of encoding (~20 s slower than GTX).
    (picture 6)
Encoding single clip FULL HD AVCHD to H.264 Result (Premiere Pro CS6)
You can look the result in the picture.
Comment/Question : CPU is free (55%), disks are free (99%), GPU is free (90%), RAM is free (65%), my computer is not pushed at limit during the encoding process.  Why ????   Adobe Premiere seem to have some bug with thread management.  My hardware is idle !  I understand AVCHD can be very difficult to decode, but where is the waste ?  My computer want, but the software not !
    (picture 7)
Render composition using 3D Raytracer in After Effects CS6
You can look the result in the picture.
Comment : GPU seems to be the bottle neck when using After Effects.  CPU is free (99%), Disks are free (98%), Memory is free (60%) and it depend of the setting and type of project.
Other : Quadro 6000 & GTX 680 gives the same result in time for rendering the composition.

    Conclusion
There is nothing you can do (I thing) with CS6 to get better performance actually.  GTX 680 is the best (Consumer grade card) and the Quadro 6000 is the best (Profressional card).  Both of card give really similar result (I will probably return my GTX 680 since I not really get any better performance).  I not used Tesla card with my Quadro, but actually, both, Premiere Pro & After Effects doesn't use multi GPU.  I tried to used both card together (GTX & Quadro), but After Effects gives priority to the slower card (In this case, the GTX 680)
Premiere Pro, I'm speechless !  Premiere Pro is not able to get max performance of my computer.  Not just 10% or 20%, but average 60%.  I'm a programmor, multi-threadling apps are difficult to manage and I can understand Adobe's programmor.  But actually, if anybody have comment about this post, tricks or any kind of solution, you can comment this post.  It's seem to be a bug...
    Thank you.

    Patrick,
I can't explain everything, but let me give you some background as I understand it.
The first issue is that CS6 has a far less efficient internal buffering or caching system than CS5/5.5. That is why the MPEG encoding in CS6 is roughly 2-3 times slower than the same test with CS5. There is some 'under-the-hood' processing going on that causes this significant performance loss.
The second issue is that AME does not handle regular memory and inter-process memory very well. I have described this here: Latest News
As to your test results, there are some other noteworthy things to mention. 3D Ray tracing in AE is not very good in using all CUDA cores. In fact it is lousy, it only uses very few cores and the threading is pretty bad and does not use the video card's capabilities effectively. Whether that is a driver issue with nVidia or an Adobe issue, I don't know, but whichever way you turn it, the end result is disappointing.
The overhead AME carries in our tests is something we are looking into and the next test will only use direct export and no longer the AME queue, to avoid some of the problems you saw. That entails other problems for us, since we lose the capability to check encoding logs, but a solution is in the works.
You see very low GPU usage during the H.264 test, since there are only very few accelerated parts in the timeline, in contrast to the MPEG2-DVD test, where there is rescaling going on and that is CUDA accelerated. The disk I/O test suffers from the problems mentioned above and is the reason that my own Disk I/O results are only 33 seconds with the current test, but when I extend the duration of that timeline to 3 hours, the direct export method gives me 22 seconds, although the amount of data to be written, 37,092 MB has increased threefold. An effective write speed of 1,686 MB/s.
There are a number of performance issues with CS6 that Adobe is aware of, but whether they can be solved and in what time, I haven't the faintest idea.

  • Non NVidia graphics card issues with Adobe and Mountain Lion

It took me a while to figure it out, but now I am certain. If using a Mac with a non nvidia graphics card there will be issues in Mountain Lion while using Adobe products. I tested this with Illustrator CS6 for over a year on 5 different Mac computers.
    Here is what happens
As soon as I open Illustrator on a Mac without a NVidia graphics card and I attend to apply an shadow effect, Illustrator crashes. If I do this procedure on a Mac with a NVidia inside, all works well.
I tested this on the following Macs
MacBook Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia 9600M GT - it works
MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Radeon 6750M - doesn't work
Mac Pro (Early 2009) with Radeo HD 5770 - doesn't work
The same Mac Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia GT120 - it works
MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with Intel HD 4000 - doesn't work
iMac (Late 2012) with NVidia 680MX - it works
Since I owned all these Macs, I could test it several times with different kind of software updates. 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 did deliver the same result. Everytime the same result.
Already got in touch with Adobe
With Illustrator CS5 it worked like a charme, so I assumed it could be an Adobe issue. But Adobe support told me, it's Apple's fault since 10.8 uses different processes for the graphics performance.
What can be done, to resolve this issue? I cannot buy only Macs with NVidia inside, since the small portable front of Macs is only coming with Intel graphics cards. And is there anybody out there, having this issue? I cannot be the only one, using shadows in Illustrator.

A typical response.  IMO it's most likely a combination of Adobe's reluctance to fix the issue combined with Apple's desire for advancement and change.  I've personally experienced several things that've become broken owing to Apple changing fundamental aspects of the OS, and the developers of the third-party software in question have either never fixed their software, or are taking their sweet time.  WireTap Studio and Snapz Pro from Ambrosia are a case in point, though they eventually fixed Snapz Pro.  Eventually…
Frankly, good luck getting either side to do anything about this.  Your best bet is probably getting in touch with AppleCare and seeing if you can get this escalated to Engineering, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix from either party.  Or perhaps one of the Apple mailing lists will prove useful.

  • Performance Issues with Photoshop CS6 64-Bit

    Hello -
Issue at hand: over the course of the last few weeks, I have noticed significant issues with performance since the last update to PS CS6 via the Adobe Application Manager, ranging from unexpected shut downs to bringing my workstation to a crawl (literally, my cursor seems to crawl across my displays). I'm curious as to if anyone else is experiencing these issues, or if there is a solution I have not yet tried. Here is a list of actions that result in these performance issues - there are likely more that I have either not experienced due to my frustration, or have not documented as occuring multiple times:
Opening files - results in hanging process, takes 3-10 seconds to resolve
Pasting from clipboard - results in hanging process, takes 3-10 seconds to resolve
Saving files - takes 3-10 seconds to open the dialog, another 3-10 seconds to return to normal window (saving a compressed PNG)
Eyedropper tool - will either crash Photoshop to desktop, or take 5-15 seconds to load
Attempting to navigate any menu - will either crash Photoshop to desktop, or take 5-15 seconds to load
Attempts I've taken to resolve this matter, which have failed:
Uninstalled all fonts that I have added since the last update (this was a pain in the ***, thank you Windows explorer for being glitchy)
    Uninstall application and reinstall application
    Use 32-bit edition
Changing process priority to Above Normal
Confirm process affinity to all available CPU cores
Change configuration of Photoshop performance options
61% of memory is available to Photoshop to use (8969 MB)
History states: 20; Cache levels: 6; Cache tile size: 1024K
Scratch disks: active on production SSD, ~10GB space available
Dedicated graphics processor is selected (2x nVidia cards in SLI)
    System Information:
    Intel i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
    16GB DDR3, Dual Channel RAM
2x nVidia GeForce GTS 450 cards, 1GB each
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Adobe Creative Cloud
This issue is costing me time I could be working every day, and I'm about ready to begin searching for alternatives and cancel my membership if I can't get this resolved.

  • Performance issues with Motion (position, scale, rotate) and GTX 590

I'm experiencing performance issues with my Premiere Pro CC when I scale, position or rotate a clip in the program monitor.
I have no performance issues with playback! It's only, when i move something with the mouse or by changing the x,y-values of Position in the Motion-Dialog in video effects.
Premiere then lags terribly and updates the program monitor only about once per second - this makes it very difficult and cumbersome to work and position things.
On a second Premiere installation on my laptop, performance is fine and fluid - allthough it doesn't have GPU support and is a much slower computer.
I'm pretty sure this has somehow to do with my graphic card, which is a Nvidia GTX 590.
I was told by the support, that it is actually a dual graphic card, which is not supported/liked by Premiere.
The thing is, until the latest Premiere update, I did not have performance issues at all with this card.
I also read on the forum that others with the GTX 590 did not experience any problems with it
So where does this come from?
There is no change in performance whether or not I activate Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
I also tried deactivating one of the 2 gpus, but there also was no change.
Does anyone else know this problem and has anyone a solution?
I'm running Premiere CC on a Win 7 64bit engine, Nvidia GTX 590, latest driver (of today),

I am suffering from the same phenomenon since I updated just before christmas, I think.
I am hardly able to do scaling, rotating and translating in the program monitor itslef - whil motion has been highlighted in teh effect controls.
In the effect controls I can scale, rotate etc however.
Also I have noticed there is a yellow box with handles in teh program monitor. I remember it was white before.
I cannot figure out what to change in my preferences. What has happened?
    best,
    Hans Wessels
