Weird Green Line

In the Time Line where I edit video there is a thin green line between the time listed in the Time Line and all the video footage I'm working on below it. It *does not* go all the way to the end, AND all of my video stops at that point and starts up again at the beginning, audio and all.
What is this green line and how can I make it go away?

As Rick says, the green bars show the RAM cache. For more information, see the
"RAM and disk caches" section of After Effects Help.

Hey, The display on my iBook "G4 1.2 Ghz" keeps having these green lines appearing on it.... at first i feared that it might need a new monitor but after connecting an external display to it i found that the lines still remained because of this i am now assuming that it is a software problem? I have tried rebooting but still the error remains..

  • I am getting a weird green line at the bottom of my screen...

I am trying to burn a DVD in iDVD.
I keep getting a green line at the bottom of the screen. I tried "squaring" the pixels before outputting the project, but I didn't render the project this way in FCP before trying that.
    Could that be the problem?
I also tried buring at 1x.
    Any help would help!
    Thank you,
    Evan Jacobs

Well to answer the questions. This artifact is in fact a physical one because you can see it when you boot the Mac and sign in with a different profile. I decided to test my luck at the local Apple Store just to see what they said. They looked at the display for about 3 minutes and then said that it would be nearly 700 bucks for parts and labor to basically put a new display on my laptop. He said that since its a TFT screen chances are on of the layers within the screen are messed up hence I see this black line. I decided Im going to look elsewhere and see if I can't find a solution here. If worse comes to worse, then I'll live with it till the Pro Book is out and get that with Apple care.

  • Satellite L350D-216: Green lines, dots and shadows.

    Hello all.
About three days ago, I purchased a laptop (Toshiba L350D, released about July '09 I believe) second hand on a good deal.
I turn it on today, to discover a series of weird green lines, dots and shadows, most of which make areas of text hard to read.
You can see them to the right of words and if you look close enough, also surrounding various letters in the Google logo.
Not especially clear here (sorry), but the greyed out words in the address bar are very ghosted.
Also, it appears to have replaced solid areas of colours like grey, with a 'dotty' green colour.
It appears this issue has also spread onto video, where areas of green are now appearing at random points.
I have updated the display drivers with the latest ones available from here, which sadly made no difference.
Any advice on why this suddenly decided to happen and how to get rid of it would be appreciated, I use the laptop for Photoshop and as you can imagine, having areas of green and shadows is rather off-putting when i'm trying to work.

If an external display (a monitor plugged into the laptop) shows no sign of the fault you can presume the the graphics chip is not at fault, after all it's working fine on the external monitor! If this is the case you don't need a new motherboard. I have repaired many graphic chip faults on laptop motherboards, and find that toshiba are usually quite good at not getting this type of fault.
I would suggest that the problem is more likely to be related to the cable that connects your screen to the laptops board (this is if the lines are vertical). Try moving the screen about on it's hinge and see if the problem goes, you can also slightly twist the screen and see if the problem goes. If you are not confidant to do the job yourself take it to a confident repair shop and they will be able to diagnose the problem. If the lines are horizontal it may well point to a capacitor problem which once again is not a new motherboard, just a decent repair centre which can identify the fault and repair it by replacing new capacitors on your board.
    Hope this helps.

  • Green lines on the edge of my video

    Hello,
I have a problem with premiere pro cs6 every time I export my video I get weird green lines on the left and bottom sides of my video. Does anyone know what might be the problem? I'm working with different aspect ratios and frame rates in my timeline but I heard thats ok. This has been a pain since every thing is ok only the green lines on the edge of my video ruin my viewing experience. Thanks for anyone that can shine the light on this little problem I'm having.

    I'm having the same problem.
I have been editing a single interview into four separate videos. Of those videos, only one doesn't have the green line at the bottom of the screen. I'm exporting it as:
    Format: H.264, HD 1080i 29.97 preset
Video (changes): 480x270, target bitrate 2, max bitrate 3
    Audio (changes): bitrate 160
Sequence was preset for HD 1080i 29.97, but I changed the frame size to 640x360. I've done this all before and never had any problems and I don't know what to do. I've tried re-editing the footage, but it still ends up with the same result. Any ideas?

  • Quicktime BUG Green line appears at bottom of movs on MAC not WINDOWS

    HELP!
I've started to notice that a bright green line appears at the bottom of my movies. I import them into Macromedia Director and they still show, but after publising my projector for windows and viewing on a PC they disapear.
Problems mainly on MAC but not i've had reports of problems of the weird green line on another PC.
    can anybody help?
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Open the movie in QuickTime Player. Pull down the Window menu and select "Show Movie Info". What is listed in the "Format" field?
In that same window, is there a difference between "Normal Size" and "Current Size"? (You might also compare that size to the size shown on the Windows computer which does not display the green line.)
What is the extension on the filename (.mov, .avi, .mpg etc.) ?
Pull down the Window menu and select "Show Movie Properties" what tracks do you see listed?

  • Import glitch green lines/green screen

When I import a .mov file it ends up importing it with strange colored lines and areas of green (among other weirdness) - See above.
Some video files seem fine, but others have had this. This represents the first time running into this, but someone before me experienced this at least one other time. The .mov file plays just fine when I open it by itself.
    Any ideas?

Yes... it could be the graphics hardware (probably getting too hot). Normally, lines throughout an LCD matrix indicate that electricity is not flowing though rows or columns of the pixel arrays - ground traces. However, it can also happen on the signal procesing and delivery end as well. Normally though, when adapter is overheating or failing it will cause multicolored lines ans artifacts.
My opinion is that you have a flaky connection point between the mobo and the display. When things get hot - contact might be better and the lines go away. Things cool down, trace opens and green lines appear.... or vice/versa. Hard to say without looking at it. If the lines go away after things heat up, and you can live with it, no harm is being done. I wouldn't worry about it.

Please post rather than send me a Message. It's good for the community and I might not be able to get back quickly. - Thank you.

  • Strange green lines with ATI 4850 iMac in Aperture, then crash.

Well, I have been running my iMac, 3GHZ, ATI 4850 for about a week now. I have had 2 lockups in OSX, 1 in boot camp and 1 graphics crash.
In OSX, all the crashes/lock-ups happen after I get these strange green lines, artifacts, that run across part of my screen. They change in length but generally always run horizontal. I can seem to find a way to post pictures here, but I have a couple screen grabs here:
    http://atothe420k.blogspot.com/
Since I have to power off in the middle of Aperture, I am also getting corrupt databases, which take forever to rebuild.

Well, I called into Apple Care, after my machine crashed again twice today, once in a web browser and once under EveOnline. The person said to download and use some fan control software. It installed, but didn't do much, couldn't get it to change fan speed or anything else.
I installed iStatPro, which is great, and kept checking the temp of the ATI card, it would crash when the temp was up around 65-70 degrees C. Not sure if that is high or not.

  • 24" iMac displaying small green lines

I'm having a big problem with my iMac 24" when I'm using Aperture or iTunes music videos in full screen mode.
I am getting groups of little green lines about an inch long and a pixel or two deep, stacked in groups of five or six on top of each other like a small wavey flag. These little "flags" are spread all over the display and make for one annoying interuption of either the video I'm watching or the photos I'm editing in Aperture.
Sometimes when I'm scrolling through my shots quickly in Aperture the lines become much larger and then red and blue blocks of lines appear, they disappear again when I give the scrolling a rest for a minute or so.
I'm using 2Gb RAM, the 9600 graphics card and all my software is bang up to date.
    Any ideas any one?
    John
    Cheers
    iMac 24'   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2GB RAM, 256Mb,

Clean erase and reinstall to factory conditions did not help with the graphic corruption/glitches.
Here are the actions I've performed so far:
•Got iMac on Tuesday (three days ago) and proceeded to immediately install all updates, including the EFI 1.1 firmware update
•Installed Aperture, the problem started showing itself sporadically
•As I imported more and more Aperture projects the problem started getting more widespread, it started showing up in Dashboard (problem is equal on both internal and external monitors)
•World of Warcraft started showing the flags/squares/lines in the menus, as well as major geometrical corruption in the 3d views (planes intersecting the world, characters warping, etc.)
•Reset SMC (unplug all cables, wait 15 seconds, plug back in without holding power button)
    •Reset PRAM/NVRAM (several times)
•Ran without any software in background
•Ran Memtest (5-pass, single user mode for max available RAM) all tests passed
•Ran Apple Hardware Test three times, once the standard test, twice the extended, none show any errors
•Wipe drive, reinstall from restore discs, no updates installed whatsoever, no additional software installed, and it still exhibits the error inside of PhotoBooth, just as it did before, and just as it did for Janet in the post I link to above. PhotoBooth seems to show the most artifacting when the effects are turned on.
I'm taking it in tonight, we'll see what they say. I will keep this thread updated with my actions and any responses I receive.
One thing I feel I should mention is that I don't think it's Aperture's fault. It's just the main indicator for us since we all use it and it makes heavy use of the GPU.
Also, my problem started out small and got bigger over the 2/3 days I was using the machine, indicative of a developing hardware issue. If it was a software glitch, it would be less likely to behave that way.

  • My macbook pro keeps flashing green lines across the screen then freezing, can anyone help?

Back in December my macbook started doing this thing quite regularly where it would flash black or green lines all across the screen, for maybe half a second, then the screen would freeze, so I would power it down manually then back on again. I took it into a store and paid a lot of money for them to "fix" it, but when I got it back it was still doing it. I just recently took it in to a different store and the guy said he couldn't reproduce the problem, but replaced the RAM and gave it back to me. Within a day of having it back the same thing happened, twice. At this point I'm not sure what to do, the money I spent on "fixing" it could almost have bought me a new one. The most recent time I shut it off, when it was turning back on it stopped on the grey screen with the apple and started making a continuous beeping sound, which I took a video of. Does anybody know why any of this is happening??

Hi Were you using the apple store for the repairs you had done? As to the point of taking in to a store to have it repaired and getting it back with the same problem. It should have been taken back to the same store as they have to stand behind what they do. You do not say what they repaired. The store replacing ram without knowing what the problem is ,is questionable. If you are going to change ram for the original apple installed ram, you need to make sure it is compatible with your MBP. One of the best sources for this is  Macsales.com. As to the Beeping sounds here is a link on it. You do not say if this is one continuing beep or more than one repeating itself.http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202768

  • Laserjet 2605dn color printing problem, Blue/green line on page.

I have an HP color laserjet 2605dn that has started to print a faint, thin  blue/green line from top to bottom about 3 inches in from the entire right edge of every page. I ran the cleaning cycle with no change. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

I have very similar problem on my 2600n which is printing 2 vertical green lines very close together about 1.5 inches from left edge. All toners are in supply override mode with black toner reading: Estimated Pages Remaining 0
Color cartridges contain toner with 329 pp remaining according to supply status page.
Is this problem likely to disappear when toner cartridge(s) are replaced?

You have not supplied enough information for us to help you with your specific assumed Premiere Elements issue.
Top of the list...what version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" problem?
When are you seeing these indexing messages and where?
    a. When you first import the media into the project and see this activity in the progress bar at the bottom left or right of the workspace?
What is the specific message - indexing, conforming of rendered files, conforming of audio files, or other?
    or
    b. When you are in the share area of the program and the burn to disc is in progress or other in this area?
    c. Where are your source media stored?
Do you run into this problem when you are opening a project created in one version in a later a later version?
Details of the project(s) involved would help
    a. properties of source media
    b. project preset
    c. definition of burn to disc - is that burn to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, AVCHD on DVD disc, or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc?
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next.
    Thank you.

Add On...in your details, please explain what you mean by no green line...when, where, and what are you doing?

  • My 27" iMac displays vertical green lines when turned on and then will not boot up

Can anyone tell me why my 27" iMac displays vertical green lines when it is turned on and then will not boot up?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The display or graphic card are damaged. The only thing you can do is to take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get your computer repaired.
If you use an external display with your Mac, connect it to your computer and see if these lines appear on the external display. If so, it's a graphic card problem

  • My MacPro 10.6.8 has a thin green line on the screen.

My MacPro is just over a year old now and I have a thin green line on the screen. I hooked it up to my TV and on the second window (the TV) the green line wasn't there. Whats the issue? How do I fix it?

From what you are saying, sounds like a line of pixels out on the display.
Did the TV use the same connector on the computer? If not, swap the display with the TV. If you still have the line, it is one of the items that you swapped across.
Have you tried connecting the display to another computer? If so, is the line still there?
What kind of display is it? Can you swap the data cable and try a different cable, could be a cable issue.
Any adapters in use? If so, try swapping those to rule them out as a problem.
Did the TV use the same connector on the computer? If not, swap the display with the TV. If you still have the line, it is one of the items that you swapped across.
