Weird hissing bug in Premiere Pro CS6

I'm having a very strange problem with audio in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Whenever I make a cut in an audio clip, a few seconds of broadband hiss is introduced into it after the cut. The hiss is only there in the exported video. It does not appear after every cut but about 10% of them.
The hiss is equally there when I export into different video/audio formats. It is there when I used different editing codecs. It might only be there for clips I recorded using some not so good microphones on a Canon 5D II, but the hiss only shows up after I make an audio edit and export the video/audio or just the audio. Sometimes though it shows up right away in PP before export. If I clean up the hiss in Audition for a given clip I no longer hear it in PP but again it reappears after export.
It seems like the problem shows up when editing video shot on a Canon 5D MII with the in camera mic or several shotgun mics, but not with a decent lavalier mic. Changing the edit and export codecs doesn't help the problem.
(i7 960 3.3 GHz, Win 7 sp1 12GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 1280MB, PP 6.02)

I have not encountered the "hissing bug"
But have encountered something similar to what you describe - but with differences.
When Audio is Cut at a point, that is not a Zero-Crossing, depending on the point on the Waveform, that the Cut was made, there can be a "pop," at that spot. Adobe Audition has the ability to set Cut at Zero-Crossing, but I do not think that PrPro has that capability.
Now, all of my encounters with a non-Zero-Crossing Cut has been the formation of a Transient, which does sound just like a pop (not a hiss) sound. I have never heard a hiss, and I do not think that what you are hearing, is what I am, with non-Zero-Crossing Cuts - they just happen to appear AT an Audio Cut.
Still, you might want to look at the Waveform very closely, just to rule out non-Zero-Crossing Cuts, in case that IS causing what you observe, but just producing a different sound, due to the difference in your Audio material.
Also, have you done a side-by-side comparison in Audition between one of the files with the hiss, and the original sourse file? What differences do you see, where the Cut was made, if so?
Wish that I had more to offer than a slightly similar problem, with a different sound.
Good luck,
Hunt

Merci d'avance.
    Références :
    Windows 7 64 bits
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Video Playback Problem/Bug

I have been editing a video for the past few weeks, but recently, after I have been editing for a few minutes, all of a sudden my video won't play in the playback window. When I hit the play button (or the space bar) it does nothing - just sits there. All of the clips are rendered (with the green bar), but I cant see my changes because it doesn't play. I am even able to move the cursor along the timeline and it will show the video in the playback window, but it won't play back in real time. Like I said I have been using Premiere Pro CS6 for a while and havent had this problem until now. Also, when I drag a clip into the preview window, it doesn't play either (but I am able to move the cursor along the timeline). I have to shut down Premiere and open it up again, then it works for a few minutes again, and then the same problem occurs. Please help! The specs for my lap top are as follows: Macbook Pro Retina Display, 2.6 GHZ i7, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD

Do you ONLY have that single 500gig drive?
If yes, you are below specification... which requires a separate drive for video files
An EXAMPLE concerning trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the
orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do
Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct
the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with
your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another
very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more on partitions) with Windows (or Mac OS)
and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is
not slowed down by trying to do everything
Do not try to use a USB2 external drive for video editing, the USB2 file transfer speed
    is too slow
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... eSata is better -

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Project frame won't retain its layout or location between opening and closing?

I filed this as a bug, but perhaps I'm thinking through this wrong and would like to seek help.
I'm finding that the Project frame in Premiere Pro CS6 does not retain its layout between opening and closings.
    Here's what I do:
    1) Open a project.
    2) Create several bins and populate them with media. Expand the contents of a bin by clicking the disclosure triangle to the left of the folder.
    3) Undock the Project frame only.
    4) Close the Project frame with Command-W
    5) Use ****-1 to reopen the Project frame.
Repeat steps 4 and 5. The result is that the Project frame does not remember which bin was open. Furstratingly, it also does not retain which bins were expanded or collapsed.
And worst of all, it will also open in random areas of the screen. (The expected result is that it would reopen in the same spot of the desktop where you last closed it, no?)
I'm a big organizer -- tons of footage across many different bins. I open bins, close them, keep some open, close others... easily dozens or hundreds of times during an edit session. I'm beginnging to feel like I'm swatting flies or playing whack-a-mole just to get my bin views correct!
Or mm I approaching this wrong?

But really, the real solution for me was to not update Premiere Pro CS6 after a reinstall. The most recent updates just do not like my computer, I guess.
Figured I should post this solution here in case anyone in the future has this problem. (relevant: xkcd: Wisdom of the Ancients)

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Mp4 Error. Green Previews

Hey, So i'm using Premiere Pro CS6 currently.
My issue is when I import a .h26 MP4 file either A, the file will show but keeps saying media pending, or B (the more common one) will show a pure green preview through the whole clip.... when I go into the properties of the clip it shows a weird error where it shows the frame rate a 0.139 FPS. Yet the footage is 23.976 fps, and when put into the time line it is the correct length at this 0.139 fps, I tried changing the frame rate manually to 23.967 and it shrunk the clip to under a second, Its strange when I work in AE the footage shows fine yet as soon as its in Premiere Pro it greens out. I never had this issue until a few weeks ago. We were working on a large movie and I had a month or so off work so I didn't touch Premiere or the files, I have verified the file locations as well and tried re linking them but it still shows the green error.  As well I know it is only the .H264 codec as I can import a video with an mpeg4 codec with no issues... I have tried re installing Premiere but still no fix.. the strange thing is to if I export in AME only it doesn't show the green, yet out of premiere through the export dialog it shows the green in the exported video yet has all the audio of that clip...As well I never have had this issue before..I could always import .h26 MP4's with no issue up until now.
    Any suggestions?

Other people with "green frames" solved their issue by updating GPU drivers. Can you try that?
You say you are working on a movie. What is the camera these files were shot on?
Do sequence settings match clips settings precisely?
You say you never had this issue before a few weeks ago. Did you make any updates to Premiere Pro? Your OS?

  • Exports From Audition CC Give "Header Error" in Premiere Pro CS6

    Hello,
I have finished the audio mixing on a 15 track project in Audition CC. It is very heavy so I had to export all the tracks separately to import them back into the Premiere Pro CS6 movie project. That way I could also do further adjustments in individual tracks later on directly on Premiere, if needed (since mixing isn´t something we´re ever done with).
I´ve exported them all in wav 9600 Hz 32 bit (Audition doesn´t say whether it´s floating point or not) and also wav 9600 Hz 24 bit. The originals on all the tracks were eitther wav 9600 Hz 24 bit, or wav 9600 Hz 32 bit (converted from 24 bit to aplly declipping and normalization), except 2 tracks with music that had mp3, wav and m4a.
When importing the exported Audition files back into Premiere all of the 15 tracks, including the ones that didn´t have mp3 and m4a in it, give me the message "The file cannot be opened because of a header error".
    Questions:
    1. What could be wrong?
    2. In case there isn´t a solution, what would be the best lossless formats to try and do the exports for importing into Premiere?
    Thanks a lot.

    I see...
Trouble is I´ve never had an answer for my posts in the Audition forum (I did originally post this here because I thought it´s more of a Premiere issue, though). I guess Audition just isn´t nearly as widely used as Premiere.
Also, I have done the same kind of exports for smaller tracks from Audition before and didn´t have an issue importing them into Premiere.
I find it really troubling that Adobe intends to make Audition a reliable pro audio suite integrated with Premiere and, on top of some weird issues like this one (and such as the 16 bit limit for sending a project from Premiere to Audition, making that integration probably useless for most pro uses), there´s so little support.
    But thanks a lot, anyways!

  • D7000 files not working in Adobe Premiere pro CS6

I recently took a lot of video on my D7000 DSLR. All of my video I shot though when I import them into Adobe Premiere "breaks" the file plays perfectly on the computer strait from the file but the miniute I try to import them into Premiere the files show either black screens or fragments of other screens in the playback windows as if the files were corrupted. I know that they are not. I need to know what I am doing wrong, if I am, since I am brand new to the program, and how to fix it. I have tried the origional .MOV file which I have reserched says works native with CS6. I also tried converting the file to .mpg. Both ways the files act the same. I have the settings for the project for DSLR at the proper resolution and frame rate also. I can hear the correct audio with the clip but simply the window is corrupted.
I am using 15" Macbook Pro Retina base model.
    Thanks for any help.

If you have the latest update for Premiere it contains updates for HiDPI display, which improves appearance on computers that use Retina Display, such as MacBook Pro computers

  • How does Sony Vegas Pro 12 compare to Premiere Pro CS6?

About 2 months ago, I purchased Premiere Pro CS6 retail box version from Best Buy.  With everything going to the CC, I can't get upgrades unless I join the CC.  This is NOT something I want to do!  I would like to know if the chroma keying and image stabilization in Sony Vegas pro 12 are just as good or similar to Premiere Pro? I already read about how to transfer the product license on the Adobe website.  If I decide to make the switch, I will list my Premiere Pro on Ebay. Another reason why I may want to get Vegas Pro is because I found out about the AVCHD bug in Premiere AFTER I purchased it.  It has been over a year and Adobe has still not fixed the bug. I have a feeling they will never fix the bug because of the new CC vesion.  I am currently about half way through the classroom in a book from Adobe and have not yet edited any of my own videos.  My video camera is a Canon Vixia HF S20 and my computer is a new Dell XPS 8500 with Core i7 and 12 GB of ram. Just a bit frustrated on what to do.  If I can't sell my Premiere Pro for a good enough price, I will keep it and switch to Vegas or some other program after it becomes obsolete.

You can download a fully functional demo of Sony Vegas 12 Pro.  That's what I did.  So far I like it and will be making the switch to Sony Vegas 12 Pro.
They also have Suite version which include HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  This program is like After Effects.  I haven't started playing with that yet.
Also, there is Movie Studio 12 Platinum Visual Effects Suite 2.  That's a mouth full.  Anyhow, it is based on Sony Vegas 12 and it comes with HitFilm 2 Express.  The Express version is a stripped down version of HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  The Express version is still a great program for adding effects.  For some people Movie Studio 12 is all they will need,
Both version, Vegas and Movie Studio, have GPU acceleration which is really nice.
I also just picked up Corel PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate.  It sells for $69.95 and it can open and save .PSD files.  So I don't have to worry about all of the .PSD files I saved in Photoshop
Right now I have CS5 and CS6.  Premiere CS6 has a lot of bug, the AVCHD spanning clips, slow motion that jitters, caching problem, slower exports, etc.

  • Premiere pro cs6 No audio solution yet?

None of my videos have audio show up in premiere pro cs6 (64bi and windows 7 64bit)   but works perfect in any previous version CS5 etc. Many I noticed have same issue yet adobe has not released any solution builds (as of July 18th)  to cure this!
I have mts files (mp4 is ok and avi etc) and would normally drag the video mts fiiles   from either a folder or the memory card when using premiere pro cs5 or sony vegas and away I go....but  NOPE not with  CS6 it sucks!
I have tried reinstalling prem pro, of which I have latest build,  renamed the mts etc indeed followed and studied  every single so called 'solution' people post on the forum and still the same arggggh!
and no way am I getting involved encoding and all that as it worked fine with CS5 and sony vegas as I said.
Anyone know what's happening with this audio issue and found a simple cure? or could somehow get adobe to release a bug fix patch?
Frankly it just plain crazy to release a new suite and ignore peoples issues - so many other folks  report all over the internet same thing with CS6 yet adobe  as said  done nothing to help people but ignore all forums and  this one - you  cannot email etc to tell them to fix it no email address I can find.

I'm editing a project in Premiere Pro CS6 for Mac, and the playback is really laggy. Its fine if you're viewing one long clip, but it gets really laggy when it switches between clips. exporting mpg2 in premiere pro cs6
When exporting a clip as mpg2 (win 7), the resulting output has a green screen lasting 1 second, folowed by a weird cross dissolve 1 second, then the video is starting and displaying correctly. I never had this problem before, it just happened today. Can someone help me solve this problem

    Why do you need mpeg2.
If its for DVD use a mpeg2-dvd preset.
For other purposes H.264 is usually the best choice.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashing when making edits

I everyone. I migrated to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (I need to finish a couple of project before I can update the computer to CC and Mac OS 10.8.) and it's been crashing right from the begining. It's a random crash but my impression that it becomes more probable as the projects grow.
It happens whenever I'm editing and I press the shortcut for "overwrite" or "insert". (It also happens when I press the icon or move the clip to the timeline)
The screen message I get is this one:
The log message that I get afterwards goes as follows:
On previous days, I've been able to keep working just by deleting the Media database preview files from Premiere but it's not working anymore.
I'm working with XMF files shot with a Canon C300 synced using premiere to sound files (.wav). It only happens when I try to edit but it doesn't matter if I try to edit sound, sound and image or just image.
What it doesn't make sense is that it says something about "dynamic lynk" and, as far as I know, I'm not using dynamic link at all.
Thanks in advance for your time and wisdom
    Jaime From Spain

Now, a few updates after a very long night (just in case it might  help somebody)
Up until last night, I was saving my Premiere Projects in a Dropbox Folder inside my computer. It was a quick safe way of having a backup copy. Well, it seems that the crash is somehow related. Don't ask me why but once I moved the project file to a regular hard drive (actually a RAID0 where I keep my heavier files) the crashes have stopped.
This morning I went back to the dropbox idea with a new project and -Voilá!- after three hours of work, it crashed again. I moved the file to the RAID disk and no more crashes. My guess is that it is somehow related to the auto-save files that premiere keeps saving. Once it reaches a certain amount (around 20 in my experience) dropbox and Premiere start to do something weird and they crash the software... (It might be related to the software dropbox uses to keep your folders updated and keep backup versions of everything)
I'll run a few tests next week trying to keep the Auto-save files out of dropbox and just the regular files there to see what happens.
    Best regards
    Jaime

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Constantly Crashing

I am having the worst time using Premiere Pro CS6.  The program is constantly crashing, saying it has encountered a serious error and has to close.  This is happening during the most basic operations like scrubbing the timeline or pressing play.  I am using footage strait from my Canon 7D (h.264) with no effects or filters.  I have all the latest updates to the software and my computer.  No other programs are open during these errors.  I'm using a 2011 MacBook Pro i7 8GB RAM with AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB and OSX 10.7.4.
I wanted this to be an alternative to FCP 7, but so far it is not working out.
    Any ideas?

Happening to me too. Constant "serious error" crashes, usually when I'm doing hardly anything at all. One project was working with just a couple images and it was particuarly awful. Like you, H264 footage are a common thread.
    I'm a Mac Pro 3,1 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core, 10.7.3 (will try updating), 8GB RAM, GTX285, 6.0.1 and CUDA 4.2.7. GPU Driver Version says 7.18.11 270.05.20f02.
As it stands I can't get anything done. My experience w/ CS6 so far has been to finish one project (2 tracks of DV, one of H264) that was originally started in CS5, and I don't really remember having any problems. Software worked much better than CS5 actually. Tried another one from scratch, same setup, but I encountered the H264 media pending bug that's been reported elsewhere and had to give up, go back to CS5. Project I mentioned above, I could barely do anything w/o the program crashing. This fourth project, another 2 DV/1 H264, I haven't encountered any problems playing back the footage yet, but this is when the software because very unstable.

  • Serious show-stopping bugs in Premiere Pro when exporting

OK, so first of all, I get that making a video editor is not an easy task. In fact, it's a nightmarish task. One I would never even attempt. However, Premiere Pro CS6 has been worked on since 1992 or so, by one of the biggest and wealthiest software companies in the world, with well paid experts on this very thing. It's supposed to be professional-grade, but bugs like this makes me wonder if it's some sort of a joke. It simply does not do what you tell it to when exporting. I come back to this problem (and similar ones) again and again. It's not me doing anything wrong. It's not me having misunderstood something. It's serious bugs in this software. There is no other explanation. Please look at these images:
To the left: the video file as it appears in Premiere Pro.
To the right: the video file as it appears once exported using the "Match Sequence Settings" option.
What you cannot see well in the images is that the quality is also significantly lower, and it stutters in an insane fashion.
It does NOT match the sequence settings. I repeat: it does NOT match.
I know some people on this board are eager to reply quickly, but I would rather have you think this over before. It gets very tiresome to have people shout out the first (incorrect) thought that pops up in their minds. Thank you for respecting that. Please only respond if you know what is going on for sure.

The "Match Sequence Settings" settings forces Pr to use rendered preview files as a source, instead of the actual source video.  If no rendered preview files are present, it defaults the export settings to the same settings that are used in the sequence to generate the preview files.  Check your sequence settings - you'll see what export settings Pr is using when MSS is selected.  Most likely, it's not what you want or expect.
I've been told that the Match Sequence Settings check box is working as designed.  I personally think it's confusing and misleading.
