Weird Hyperlinks Issue - Position-related?

I have a PDF I'm trying to create which has 1 email and 1 web URL per page. I select the option in Acrobat to make urls from text. It reports 58 links created; this is correct...2 per page, 29 pages = 59 instances.
However, not all of the links work, because on some pages, the text for either URL or mailto is not in the same position as on most of the other pages.
I assume that when Acro reports 58 links made, it found 58 text strings which appeared to be URLs, and made them actually BE URLs..
but...I assumeth wrongeth.
Can anyone help me with the fix for this?
some of the urls are in a different position due to the needs of the layout in InDesign...I have some graphics which "violate" the top bar where my text info is, and on those pages, I moved one or more links so that it can still be seen, even after part of the graphic intrudes into the space.
thank you for any thoughts on this!
kat

the email address link is mailto:[email protected]
the web URL is http://www.domain.com
is that correct?
Also, I HAD done the interactivity in InDesign, but wasn't wholly successful in the final PDF

  • Weird permissions issue update

(see thread below for 7/12/08 "Weird permissions issue"
I re-installed the 3.1.1 final version of CCC, did another backup, (both HD and clone now had Security update installed (as was the case with the backup using the CCC beta) and, voila, no more permissions errors there either.
So, it would seem, the problem stemmed from the differing security packages, not CCC.
BDAqua: I owe you points. Thanks again for your help.
By the way, is there any conceivable Mac executed scenario by which files can end up in the trash (besides "recovered files") without intentionally placing them there, (not counting sleepwalking and unresponsive, zombie states)? This has happened.

There were about 7 or 8, all documents: Appleworks.cwk or Word or Word.doc. and one was saved in Simple Text. They were related in content and could have come from a few places as they were grouped, saved in several locations, but really impossible to trace where they resided just before they ended up in Trash.
I don't want anyone to get too bothered about this. It's one of those things I guess they call an anomaly when no suitable explanation can be found. I was just curious to know if it can happen according to some process in Tiger I don't know about.

  • Weird Playback Issue...

I have this weird playback issue with iTunes for Windows. I am using Vista and I think the cause of the problem is that I am using MacDrive to access my OS X partition. But anyways, on with the problem. So the problem is that when I play a song, the song will play for like 5 seconds and then it will just go the next song. This song will do the same thing, and so-on and so-forth. Then, during this time, my Mac formatted hard drive is unavailable while iTunes is running. In "My Computer" the drive is there, but when I try to open it, Explorer freezes. Then, when I exit iTunes, it doesn't really exit. It still shows up in the task manager and when I try to end the process, it just plain doesn't end. I have to restart my computer to gain full use of it again. After the restart I can access my Mac disks, but once I start iTunes and try to play a song, I get the same thing again. And in case thats not weird enough, I can play the MP3's in WMP fine, and they will also play in iTunes fine if I actually open them, rather than just select them from my library. If I go to file open and select a song on my Mac drive, it will play fine, but then once I try to play a song from my library, I get caught in that vicious cycle. Anyone else had this problem or anything? Thanks. Also, is there an alternative program to Mac Drive that will allow me to read HFS partitions?

Post more about your situation... what format is the video, and where are you storing the video files? i.e., on a disk other than your startup disk? The adobe install is likely not the problem... I run adobe software along side FCS on about 75 workstations, and don't see issues like you describe.
Wavy? not accurate? what are you talking about?

  • Tooltip position relative to browser window

    Hi -
I have a repeating region of left-floated divs that works
like a horizontal looper for my data set - items repeat
left-to-right, then start a new row. I have a tooltip on the div to
pop up a large-scale image of the underlying repeating data.
The problem is that on the rightmost column, the tooltip
image runs off the right edge of the browser window (causing the
horizontal scrollbar to appear). The bottom row does the same with
the bottom edge of the window - you have to scroll town to see the
entire tooltip, rather than the tooltip adjusting for the bottom of
the window. Does the tooltip widget have a setting that will change
its position relative to the mouse if you are up against the edges
    of the browser window?
    Thanks,
    Rod

I have this same question. Can the tooltip flip horizontally
when it touches the browser edge?

  • "position:relative" in jsp

I have a html file in which I have a scrolling table with a fixed header. I achieve this by CSS and adding the attribute "position:relative" for the table header. I open it in IE6 and I have my functionality with the table body scrolling and the header fixed.
Now I have the same html code in my jsp and the whole table including the table header scrolls. it takes the value "overflow:auto" which allows scrolling, but it somehow doesnt take the value "position:relative" , which, results in my header to scroll.
Why is my jsp not respecting the "position:relative" attribute?
    Raghav

I have done this in my JSP. To freeze header you have to use the following code in your THEAD (css),
    top: expression(document.getElementById("mytable").scrollTop-1);
    z-index: 10;

  • Why Position:Relative from CSS doesn't work at Safari 5.03?

If you watch my web page: http://clubdeleonesst.tk
I designed a ComboBox and have some problems with position relative. I used jQuery to create it, you could watch the original example here:
    http://www.marghoobsuleman.com/jquery-image-dropdown
And I have been watching that the transparency from Flash doesn't work too. I hope you can solve these bugs.

The "disappearing" affect you describe is not normal. You may need to reinstall Safari.
First, try removing the Apple cookies from your Safari Preferences>Security>Cookies panel. Also, go to your Safari Menu and Empty cache. Then try to log-on to Apple Discussions.
Also, regarding the "disappearing" effect, try Safari from another User Account.
Here is guidance from Apple on how to set up the account. You can ignore step 7 in the article.
Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If Safari is stable in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem.
    Post back with results.

  • Weird SMS Issue (iOS 4.2, iPhone 4)

So I have a weird software issue that's been going on with my new iPhone 4. Every time I get a text message and I "Slide to View" it doesn't take me to the message, rather, it marks the message as read and then takes me the main Messages pane. Is there anything I can do to fix this? It's pretty annoying, along with it sometimes opening up the messages app to an unread message without letting me start at the main screen?
I do not want to restore because I will lose all of my previous text messages. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks!!!

I've had the same problem since updating to iOS 4.2, on Vodafone network (Ireland).
I'm now dropping most calls in the first minute, I live in the city centre with good network coverage, and I have the cover on...
I went to the VF store yesterday, was given a new micro SIM in case that was the problem (it wasn't).
Then rang VF technical support who reckoned it might be a problem with the software not changing quick enough between 3G to 2G network and vice versa to boost signal strength and recommended disabling 3G (this hasn't helped either).
So I'm sorry for not having an answer, have you heard any fixes elsewhere for the problem though?

  • 30EA3- 2.*: Weird performance issues for editing objects

    Hi,
I noticed weird performance issues for editing objects: when right-clicking on them in the navigator tree and selecting Edit, you get the old progress dialog "Connected to database XXX". This stays on screen a lot longer than it ever did (last sequence I edited over 30 seconds!).
Cancelling displays a "Error retrieving schemas" dialog, but then opens the Edit dialog correctly. No further side effects noticed, so I think sqldev is adding useless overhead here.
If confirmed, can this be bugged and/or fixed by production?
    Thanks,
    K.

Yes, I mean in context of other hangs reported. This one is a nasty performance issue, but IMO the others are real show stoppers.
Atomic steps are easy; any* Edit (object) action inside the context menu of the navigator or the Edit button of the object viewer.
I took a lot of dumps (every second or so) and came to these findings:

My computer was rebuilt this week and I am in the process of setting up iTunes and have a weird setup issue. The music in my playlists plays but the same song doesn't play from the library. Initially, I opened ITunes while holding down Shift of control key.

Scratch the post above - the musics that plays in the playlist also plays in the library and that is because i forgot that i imported from the cd yesterday. Basically, I see the rest of my music, but it doesnt' play and tells me it can't locate the file though the location in 'perferences' points to the correct location. Getting iTunes to play after a new computer or rebuild is a headache.

  • Weird freezing issues

    hi all.
im on an older mac pro and having some weird freezing issues.
-expose 'show all' and 'minimize' tend to freeze my display mid-animation (mouse and all)
-at least once a day, usually when using RAM heavy applications, my screen will freeze, but the mouse will keep moving. i cant move anything on the screen besides the mouse. if audio is playing when the screen freezes, it keeps playing. despite the mouse seeming to work, space bar fails to stop the music. after about a minute, the mouse icon is usually replaced by the pinwheel, which spins indefinitely.
    ive already:
    -run the apple hardware test
    -tested my RAM
    -bought & run norton antivirus
but nothing has been found wrong...
any thoughts on what to try next?
    a million thanks
    mike

If Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy. Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand.
If you have a good backup, hopefully a clone of your system before you had issues, an Erase and Install will also rid you of this issue. But, beware! You will lose everything on the drive with this procedure. Let us know if you need help with that!
    Cheers! DALE
    p.s. Here's a rewiew of DiskWarrior 4.

  • Weird Hyperlink Height Issue

    Hey InDesign community,
This is my first time on the forums, and I come with a perplexing issue.
I'm using InDesign CS3 and creating documents that I am converting to PDF (using the "Adobe PDF Presets" and a modified version of "High Quality Print", including Bookmarks and Links). My problem is when I create a Hyperlink (text only) and then convert to PDF, the clickable hyperlink area is significantly taller than the line height. For instance:
    This area is clickable
    This area is clickable
    This area is clickable
    This is my  link  text.
    This area is clickable
    This area is clickable
    This area is clickable
This is a rather large issue when I have mutliple links near each other because the link closer to the bottom of the page gets priority. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Quick Edit: The TOC links (bookmarks) do not have this problem.
    Regards,
    -Mike

So, I figured I'd try to make a quick test PDF and show you that one, unfortuately (or fortunately) those links worked fine. The ones from the other docs still do not, however. The screen shot from the problem PDF is below:
I used the same PDF settings and I went through the same link-making process to make the above as I did the one that works. Could it be somewhere in my paragraph or character styles? Here's how the boxes look in InDesign:
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Weird Hardware issue, NOT OS related.

My Macbook randomly will slow down, and the screen will lose bit depth (Extremely bizarre) and will gradually turn white. This happens in BOTH Windows and OS X, so NO, it isn't Windows, and nor is it a virus, before anyone suggests that. This is a hardware issue, anyone have an idea of what's wrong? It doesn't seem to be overheating, since the Macbook isn't particularly hot.
If this is unsolvable, anyone think there'll be a chance for refund/replacement? I'm within 1 year warranty time, and this is just bizarre.

The demonstrating thing will be difficult, to say the least. It is, like I said, fairly random, and isn't limited to when I'm doing a task or anything. It seems to happen in Windows a bit more often, though it was first noticed while in OS X, and it happening more in Windows is easily explained simply by the fact that I use Windows more (Sorry, I'm computer literate, so Windows can accomplish SOOO much more).

  • Cut & Paste - different position relative to ruler - why ?

CS5 is not honouring the relative position when cutting from one document then pasting to another.   In CS4 I would drag the ruler to a common element of both documents, then cut from one and paste in front in the other document.   This is no longer the case with CS5, it appears to be Art Board bound some how, and I dont want that becuase I can never be 100% assured the custom art boards are of the same size .... what happened Adobe , life used to be simple ?  Is there a software switch somewhere to have cut & paste adhere to relative ruler position ?

Yeah I posted about this issue yesterday, glad to see others have been complaining about it. It's a huge issue, a dealbreaker as far as using CS5 or not. From the posts about labels and shrink wrap kinda sounds like there's some other folks in the thread doing flexographic work. I don't know if there's something about flexography that makes us desperately need to retain this feature, but so it is (I suppose since flexography uses so many different slightly different document sizes on a regular basis, compared to commercial which may only  use 4 or 5 radically different document sizes on a regular basis, it might affect us more).
I put a call into Adobe about it yesterday. First level phone support said that on their end paste was working the way I wanted it. (He screen shared with my computer, I showed him the issue and he was mystified by it saying his CS5 was merrily pasting according to the ruler origin.) This makes it seem like, in contrary to Mr. Zimmerman, that this can be changed in a setting somehow. Note that support also called over their supervisor and they were both surprised to see me unable to paste in place (front/back) relative to the ruler, only relative to the document. He escalated the issue to second level support and said I should get a call back sometime late this week, we shall see. Obviously I can only trust 1st level support so much. I didn't screen share to him (only him to me) so for all I know (despite his assurances) he was accidentally working in CS4 or CS3.
The weird thing to me about the whole issue is the change doesn't actually give anyone anything they didn't have before. Mr. Zimmerman seems to be saying that everyone and their brother was asking to be able to always paste according to the corner of the document, but in old versions that functionality was already present. If you wanted to paste according to the corner of the document you just double clicked in the top left corner (between your x and y rulers) to reset the rulers to the corner. Okay maybe people didn't want to reset their rulers after they paste, but it's a whole lot easier to reset a ruler than it is to be forced to paste things around a document without a ruler's help. I also understand that by adding in artboards (not a useful feature for me, but definitely a useful feature for most designers....old Freehand users will undoubtedly be leaping for joy) paste according to rulers becomes more problematic and they probably wanted to streamline things by default...but I still have a hard time imagining that Adobe would so screw over their customer base by totalling removing this functionality that has been so basic to Illustrator for so long by removing it entirely.
I definitely second (sixth, seventh) the requests to add a paste according to ruler option  if my 1st level support guy was incorrect in his assessment that the functionality could still be turned on in CS5. I will post hopefully later this week with an update on my experience with 2nd level support.

  • Image hyperlink issues in PDF creation using Acrobat 9.0

    Hi All,
I am using Acrobat 9.0 Professional for creating a PDF of a web site hosted on my local IIS server. All the web pages contain:
               1. A single large image and some description text.
               2. Few hyperlinks mapped to the various areas/locations of the image. The hyperlink is visible when user moves the mouse cursor to that specific area/location on the image.
These hyperlinks work correctly when the web page is viewed in any browser but when the web site is converted to PDF, we observed the following problems with the image hyperlinks:
         1. The hyperlink area (rectangular) on the image is shifted from its original position.
         2. The hyperlink area (rectangular) on the image grows bigger than its original size.
(The original position and size here means the position and size of the hyperlink as on the web page respectively).
Surprisingly these issues do not occur if a PDF is generated of the same web site using Acrobat 8.1.0 Professional.
I searched the Adobe website for any service pack/updates that could resolve this issue in Acrobat 9.0 Professional but could not find any.
I will be really thankful for any help provided.
    Regards,
    Santosh.

In my case it's with .puz files, which are crossword puzzle files used by sites like the New York Times and read by the application AcrossLite. I went into preferences and tried to change the action for the file type from "Save File" to AcrossLite but it would not take. Set it instead to "Always Ask" and then in the dialogue box selected AcrossLite and "always do this" and it gave an unknown error.
This is FF 4 on a Mac.

  • Hyperlink issue in PDF

    Hi Folks,
I am crashing my head under this issue but no luck.
I had some hyperlinks in my indesign CS5 document which have a shared folder destination for hyperlinks in page items. Now if I tried to jump to destination from Indesign document it directs me at correct folder so far so good but as I export this document to PDF and in PDF if I try to click on the link it directs me at browser and obviously alerted that URL not found.
Is there is some work around to fix this discrepancy or this a bug of Indesign CS5.
    Thanks
    Mac

    Thanks for quick reply,
I've patched my Indesign to latest patch. Hyperlinks destination is in folder itself not prompting to open any file (e.g. \\\\tewaveserver\\source).
while opening in Acrobat, It addes the path PDF file is saved (e.g. /C/productpdf\\tewaveserver\source) where "/C/productpdf" is the path where PDF is saved.
I saw one relative thread to forum and unchecked the option in PDF preferences->internet->Display PDF in browser. though it stoped now browsing link in internet but still not opening respective folder also.
