Weird image processor issue in CS4

All of a sudden this week, both of my computers stopped being able to image process via bridge > ps.
Repro steps:
1. Select RAW image(s) in Bridge.
2. Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
Expected results:
Image processor dialog opens in PS
Actual results:
Window switches over to PS, but nothing happens.
Anyone else see this?

Suggest to check the files you used. If the files contain duotone or multichannel mode, then the message "Sorry, I could not process the following files" will appear.

  • Connectivity issues - Bridge CC to Photoshop CC - Image Processor issues.

    Hi guys.
I'm having issues with Image Processor between Bridge CC and Photoshop CC. I can see in the forums that others are having issues that are close to mine but not the same. I can still see my image processor tab in my Tools menu.
The problem is that I can click the Image Processor tab and it will bring Photoshop CC to the front of all windows, act like its loading, and then nothing happens from there. The run script box doesn't come up, nothing opens.
I was wondering if anyone else has come across this and if so how you fixed it.
    Thank you

I'm having the same result when I run image processor from Bridge. Image processor looks like it's about to open, the wait cursor displays (Photoshop CC will open if it's closed), but then when focus switches to Photoshop, nothing happens.
A few months ago when I tried to upgrade to PS CC 2014 I had the same problem, which was only fixed when I removed all Adobe apps and re-installed CC and Bridge with no PS CC 2014. This might fix your problem if you re-install and only use a single version.
Currently I have both versions of Photoshop installed again as I need the linked smart object functionality of 2014 but I also need my library of extensions in Photoshop CC. (Really frustrating switch to HTML5 only, by the way Adobe)
Does anyone know if there is any way to have both versions of Photoshop installed AND have scripts fire off from Bridge?

  • Weird Image Processor Behaviour

The image processor has started acting really weird a couple of hours ago. I have been trying to figure the problem out since then, but to no avail. It all started when I tried to run batch processor from the Bridge with a really simple action that is just meant to save the images as a TIFF. This has worked before and I did not change the setup in any way. But this time many of the images just stayed open in Photoshop. They were neither saved nor closed - others were, though. I played around with the settings, repaired permissions, deleted cache files, etc. Then at one point, when I ran the image processor again, it suddenly started to open random raw files! These files are on the same hard drive as the .psd files I was trying to convert, but they are not even nearly in the same directory. In fact, these happened to be really old pictures that I hadn't seen in a while. That scared me. Also I am at the end of my wits. The only thing left to do would be to uninstall and then reinstall Photoshop, I guess. But that would mean, that I would have to go through all the settings again, import my actions, keyboard shortcuts, etc. I'd like to avoid that if possible.
I am using Photoshop CS 5.0.1 on an iMac running MacOS 10.5.8.

You mention Image Processor and Batch, which are two different things – which did you employ?
Could you post a screenshot of the Actions Panel with that specific Action clicked open just to make sure which steps are included?
And have you tried trashing prefs (after making sure your presets are saved)?

  • Image Processor Fails in CS4 -basic script

I tried to run a basic script through Image Processor (Never had this problem in CS3)
The script was very basic: Open all files in a selected folder (all recent PSD files) Save files as LZW tif in another selected folder. Run a single action: "Flatten Image"
Each time the entire process fails with the following Prompt: "Sorry, I could not process the following files" (all the files in the selected folder)
Both folders have "Read & Write"permission.
I tried running the IP on a single open file and received the following prompt: I am unable to create a file in this folder. Please check your access rights to this location."
I have enabled Read/Write on the enclosing drive & I have also tried with "shared folder" selected & Ignore ownership on this volume. I am the only user on this workstation.
I have Repaired Permissions on Main drive.

Suggest to check the files you used. If the files contain duotone or multichannel mode, then the message "Sorry, I could not process the following files" will appear.

  • Image Processor Not Working

    Hi,
I used the Image Processor feature to resize and save in a separate folder all the time in Bridge CS3. I recently upgraded to CS4 and I can't get the Image Processor to work. When I select the feature, it opens photoshop but nothing happens...it just opens the photoshop window but does nothing. Can anyone help? Does the feature not function in the same way for CS4? How do I properly use Image Processor in Bridge CS4? Thank  you!

    But all the
files that are in my home directory (Snow Leopard 10.6.5) give that error.
Do you have a beta of Snow Leopard, to my best knowledge 10.6.4 is the
    latest version??
    I'm going to format
the drive on Monday and restore my system from Backup and see what that does.
First try the uninstall CS5 suite using the uninstaller that is in each
application folder. Also erase your serial number from computer and run the
    clean script:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
It is useless to reformat and after that reinstall from Back Up when you
also re install the current preferences, highly likely you will end up with
the same problem because you copied the old prefs again

  • Add Functions to Image Processor

Can someone assist me or point me in the right direction, to information on how to add functions to the default Photoshop Image Processor script. I do not know javascript but can follow along fairly well if someone has good sirections.
    What I need to add,
Renaming files like PSE's 'Process Multiple Files' feature, output as .png in adition to jpg, psd and tiff.
I would basically like to bring PSE's multiple image processor into Photoshop.
I found the image processor script, but dont know java. If someone could assist with this I would appreciate it.
I have attached an image of what I need from PSE. The default image processor in PS CS4 almost does it, but a couple of areas are lacking.
    Any info, greatly appreciated.

I don’t want to sound condescending, especially as I also have often had to to rely on some of this forum’s contributor’s help myself, but maybe You should start with working through »Adobe Intro To Scripting.pdf« and then read up on »User-Interface Tools« in »JavaScript Tools Guide CS4.pdf«.
Both pdfs should be located in Your ExtendScript Toolkit-folder (ESTK is installed with Photoshop CS4).
Starting Photoshop-Scripting with adapting a Script as voluminous as »Image Processor.jsx« might be a bit of a challenge.

  • Bizarre Lightroom image quality issue

I have a weird image quality issue with Lightroom, when opening RAW files (haven't tried it with any other file format, admittedly).
Here's an example of how the image appears in Lightroom.  As an experiment, I exported the image as a TIFF and opened it in Gimp to see if it was just down to a display issue, but the exported TIFF showed the same quality issues as Lightroom. Aside from exporting as a TIFF (and then saving as a Jpeg), this image is SOOC:
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/swisstony10/4912360565/" title="IMG_4134 by swisstony10, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/4912360565_5891c0160f.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="IMG_4134" /></a>
If I open the same image in Canon's own DPP software, this image quality issue does not occur, so I know that it's not an issue with the memory card, the camera, or my laptop's monitor.  The SOOC image from DPP (exported as a Jpeg) looks like this:
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/swisstony10/4912362053/" title="IMG_4134b by swisstony10, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/4912362053_1ca92078c9.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="IMG_4134b" /></a>
Has anybody else experienced this, and if so, is there a fix?  (there had better be - I'm not going to be overly chuffed if my expensive Adobe software is being outperformed by the free stuff..  )
    Russ.

This is proving to be an extremely helpful forum!
Thanks for the advice on embedding my calibrated colour space - I don't very often send files anywhere other than my own home network (where all the monitors are calibrated), and when I do upload any to Flickr, it's never caused a problem in the past (and if I get anything printed by a lab, I use their ICC profile).  I'll definitely keep that all in mind though..
Here's the original RAW file of the image I used as the example  https://www.yousendit.com/download/aHlUa3ZONmNFd2Z2Wmc9PQ   - I hope that helps someone to shed some light on what's going wrong.  From what you've said though, it does look as if this is just an extreme example of something that Lightroom isn't very good at doing.
As I said in my original post, it'll be a bit disappointing if that's the case though, because a fair amount of the pictures I take tend to be of bands playing in what are, let's face it, diabolical conditions for photography.  (At the festival I was attending at the weekend for example, all of the photographers - even the seasoned pros - were moaning about how awful the lighting was in the Big Top, and how much it sucked to try and get a decent picture there, as opposed to the main stage where everybody wasn't completely backlit by either red or purple lights.  I appreciate that Lightroom is a much more powerful tool than Canon's DPP - the noise reduction controls on their own completely rock - but I must admit I'm a bit surprised that it can't handle highlights terribly well...

  • Photoshop CS4 Image Processor Stopped Working

My workflow consists of tagging photos in Bridge then using Photoshop actions via the Image Processor from the Bridge tools>photoshop menu.  All the sudden it stopped working, the image processor box doesn't pop up anymore.  When choosing a folder manually through Photoshop, it says Sorry I Can't Complete The File...... (like it always says when it's successful) but nothing processes.  I have reset all the factory settings.
    OSX 10.5.8 w/ Adobe Suite CS4
I need to get this project finished today rather than wasting my whole weekend doing manual actions on nearly 2000 photos for the next week straight.  This process has been successful for the past 3 years.
Thanks so much in advance for your time.

That must have been an ungodly degree of nesting.
The Image Processor is actually a plug-in script, written by Russell Brown.  If you like it, you should try Dr. Brown's Services 2.0.2 (for CS4; for CS5 there's a later beta version available) by the same author and also free.  It's like the Image Processor on steroids.  I haven't used the latter for years, since installing Dr. Brown's Services.

  • Image Processor CS4 Cannot batch process from psd to jpg ERROR MSG

I have been receiving the error message "Sorry, I could not processes the following files:" when ever I try to change DNG or PSD files to jpg in camera raw.  It does not matter if I try this with one file or 100. I am running CS4 on a Mac OSX 10.5.8.  I have enough memory, have cleared trash, purged cache....I don't know what to do to make this run correctly.  Please help!

Thank you for responding and yes, I would be more than happy to elaborate.
In Bridge I normally change my images from psd or dng using the following steps:
    Tools
    Photoshop
    Image Processor
change to jpg with a quality of 10
This has always worked in the past on CS3 and worked a few times once I upgraded to CS4.
I can do one image or a number of images.  I started receiving the error message stated above
    when doing these steps.
I have purged Bridge cache, have memory on system...startup disks are not full.
I cannot figure out why I keep getting this message or how to fix it.
Any and all help is much appreciated!!!

The Image Processor.jsx is missing from my Photoshop CS4 scripts folder and when I search I don't find it anywhere. • Having major issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) - exporting with weird image flickering/colour anomalies, crashing regularly, freezing during encode...!

    Hi Guys
I am having some real issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) at the moment.  It appears that I am unable to encode an h.264 for Vimeo from a Premiere Pro Project file at the moment without at least some weird image issues that are not supposed to be there.  These include weird flickering, colour changes, artefacts etc.  This is if I am lucky...often I am unable to get the process to complete as the application either crashes and tells me there has been a problem or it simply freezes and I have to force quit the application and often restart my machine.
The problem seems to not to just be with h.264 for the web encodes but also with BluRay h.264 as well. As yet I haven't seen if there is a problem with MPEG-2 for DVD so I will check this out too!
Does anyone else see this happening or does anyone know what might be the problem?
I thought the Premiere Pro project might have been corrupt so tried a different project but the same issues were happening here too.
Any help would be really gratefully received.
    Cheers
EDIT - I have just found this online which is exactly the problem I am having! Thanks a bloody bunch Apple! 10.9.3 causing headaches for Mac Pro users | MacIssues

Agreed, I now have a project to GET OUT, and AME crashes consistently 1/3 into the render. It appears to halt all processing after (real time) 00:02:30
Am seriously considering uninstalling CC as I am beginning to find other issues in some apps, and going back to CS6/MC just so I can get work out. Durn it Adobe this is AWFUL!!
Alright, let's try to be constructive instead of throwing rocks... but the frustration level is high, and I have material on deadline. Let's get with this, guys...
    What OS Win7, 64-bit
What version of AME/PPro (Please be specific by getting the full version number in the About Adobe Media Encoder screen) 8.2.0.54 Ppro: 8.2.0 (65)
When is it crashing (Again, the more detail here about where it was in the encoding process the better) roughly 1/3 into the sequence, always on exactly the same frame - tried replacing the clip with something different to see if it was a timeline error, and NO EFFECT.
What is your source (PPro project or media file (what kind?)) PPro
If the source if a PPro project, does it work when exporting directly from PPro? NO
What format are you exporting to? H.264, QT, WM, tried everything my client can play.
Do other formats work? MPEG2, QuickTime, etc? NO
Have you tried with GPU rendering on? How about turning it off by switching to Software-only mode? Mine doesn't have any choice, it's software-only.
Have you tried disabling Native Sequence Loading? (AME Preferences: General > Enable Native Sequence Loading) No effect
Other things I tried: uninstalling/reinstalling AME, setting cache to a fast local disk.

  • CS4 Image Processor: Why does "Resize to Fit" kill my action?

I had some JPEG's that had some dark shadows.  I already had a custom action in CS4 that was worked for what I needed that I could use with the image processor.  What I did was just open, do my action and save as a JPEG.
    The existing action simply was:
    Convert to Smart Object
    Shadow/Highlight
    Smart Sharpen
    Create Vibrance Layer
It worked fine until I added the "Resize to Fit" option in the Image Processor dialog.
While I could see the actions being stepped through, the final photo was just a resized version of the original without actions applied.
    Why?
I used to do this in CS2...I thought.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    John J J

    Thanks for your response.
I had already ended up using the "Fit Image" command which works...but the point is that I wanted run the script on several sets of images for different purposes which required specific sizes.  It's convenient to do that in the "Image Processor" dialog when I run each set.  I don't want to have to edit the action each time I do a different group of photos.
It's more a question of why this does not work than finding an alternate ways to accomplish the task.
i.e. Is it a bug or a misunderstanding on my part?
    Thanks again,
    JJJ

  • Batch Action through Image Processor Leaves Files Open in CS4

I am not sure if this is a change in CS4 or something that I am doing incorrectly. But when I run Bridge CS4 < Photoshop < Image Processor (running an action that I have been running since CS2) the files do not close in photoshop after running the action. In all prior versions of PSCS#, photoshop closed the file after finishing the action. The files all save properly. But having hundreds of files opened inside of photoshop causes the scratch disk to go low and slows everything down.
    What am I doing wrong?

I haven't experienced that problem. But a related annoying problem with batch actions in CS4 is that if I minimize Photoshop while a batch action is running, the program interface minimizes, but the images open and close on the desktop still. In prior versions of PS, I could minimize the program and the batch action would go on in the background, invisible to me, while I could do other tasks. But now, when I run a batch to convert over 1000 files, each one pops open on the desktop, in front of any other open app's windows. It then closes and the next one opens, etc. Which means my computer is unusableduring any batch command.
Very annoying! How could the QA and beta testers have not noticed this?

  • CS4 Image Processor Freezes

    Hi,
I have CS4 11.0.1 and when I use the Image Processor to resize images from Bridge, it often will pause at some point in the batch resizing and not go any further. At this point, Photoshop is completely inaccessible and I need to shut it down from Task Manager, and restart Bridge. Usually, after this restart process, everything works fine, but it is a bit frustrating to go through this every time and I haven't been able to pin point what changes when I restart. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • DMXzone Smart Image Processor .tif file issue

I'm using the DMXzone ASPupload & smart image processor.
I'm having an issue creating thumbnails from .tif files. All other
formats work well. I've tried using the the server component that
came with the product, the .net component, and ASPupload component.
    None seem to work.
    I REALLY NEED HELP!

You are correct. The DMXzone smart image processor will
upload the .tif, then resize it and convert it to a .jpg file. The
.tif file is stored so that you can download it by clicking a link.
The app I've built is an image gallery. JPG thumbnails with
    links to hi-res graphic files.
The smart image processor automatically creates the display
thumbnails, except in the case of .tifs. Which the software claims
    can process.
