Weird Internal Routing

Hi Guys,
Logic 8 has worked fine for over a year untill I used it with an Edirol firewire interface. I just have the sound coming out of the macbook pro's line out now and I get this very strange internal routing of the audio on one channel to other audio channels, basically doubling itself. It also does this when I drop in a loop from the loop browser.
If anyone can tell me how to sort this problem I'd be really appreciative.
I have one more issue also. I use EZ Drummer within Logic and want to mix each part of the kit separately. I've done the multichannel thing and then hit the plus sign in L8's mixer but all I get is a new aux channel. I've rescanned with the audio units manager but it does nothing, does anybody know how to fix this bug?
Best,
Alex

Make sure "Universal Track Mode" in Preferences/Audio is enabled.

Alex, now set the Input of the newly created Aux track to one of the Multi-outs made available by EZDrummer.

  • Internally Route DIO on R Series FPGA

Hello, currently using an R-Series PCIe 7852 board with LabVIEW 2010 SP1 on 64bit Windows 7.
I used to use a 6602 board and would sometimes use the RITS bus to connect the output of one counter to the input of another counter thus saving myself the trouble of having to physically connect them. On the 7852R board I'd like to connect the output of one DIO line to the input of another. I can physically use a wire but wonder if there's anyway of doing it internally like on the 6602?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Edward,
Stu is correct. On the FPGA you have access to all of the values at the same time, so you could either wire them together or simply just read off the original line instead of looping it back to another input. You actually have much more flexibility in terms of internal routing than on a 6602 card because all of the IO goes through the FPGA, whose behavior you define. The only caveat is that if youre going to be changing this often you may want to physically wire it instead of recompiling a bitfile to connect a single line.

  • MPLS - How are external/internal routes distinguished?

    Hi all
I was setting up an MPLS environment and wanted to get some more information about how MPLS VPN's work. Basically I have three sites connected to the MPLS cloud. Site A runs EIGRP on the customer side and Site B runs OSPF on the customer side. Site C is the one in question. The way I have it designed, Sites A and C have full visability into one another and sites B and C have full visibility into one another. When I configure site C with eigrp, all proper routes are seen, but the OSPF routes from site B are seen as EIGRP external routes. When I switch site C to OSPF, EIGRP routes from site A are seen as OSPF External type 2 routes. I guess my ultimate question is, How does the PE router at site C know the originating protocol? All the routes it receives are from BGP. Does a certain attribute carry this? If so, is this feature specific to Cisco gear or an RFC standard? Thanks in advance for all your help. I can include configs if that would help, below I'll show you my RD and RT's for each VRF and the routing tables of the CE router at Site C before and after the change.

    Hello Edward,
I see nothing strange in the results you have posted. They are completely natural to the process of carrying customer routes over MPLS L3 VPN.
You know yourself that the customer routes are carried between PE routers using BGP, and from PE towards CE, these routes are redistributed from BGP into the particular routing protocol running between PE and CE. Each of these routing protocols automatically marks redistributed networks as external networks. For OSPF, this is a normal part of the open protocol specification - that routes injected into OSPF via redistribution shall be represented as external routes (and carried in LSA-5). Similarly, when you redistribute into EIGRP from a different routing protocol, these routes will be carried by EIGRP as external networks. So what you see here is natural and normal. Even if all sites ran the same routing protocol (EIGRP or OSPF), one site would see networks from other sites as external routes.
In fact, there are extensions to BGP using extended community attributes that try to preserve the original nature of the redistributed routes. The prerequisite is that all sites run the same IGP, either OSPF or EIGRP. In that case, EIGRP routes carried over MPLS can be made look like internal routes although they are redistributed, and OSPF will make the routes appear as inter-area routes, not as external routes. There is even a modification to OSPF allowing you to see other sites as intra-area routes (though this requires configuring so-called OSPF sham links between PEs). All of this is done because an internal network is always preferred to an external network. This causes trouble if there is a backup link directly interconnecting two sites, bypassing the MPLS cloud. As the routing protocol run over this link advertises all networks as internal, this link would always be preferred to the MPLS VPN which is exactly the opposite of what you want to do.
Please feel welcome to ask further!

    Peter

  • 3560 PBR including internal routes help

I'm attempting to use PBR on a 3560 switch.  Everything seems to be working OK but we have some periodic CPU interupt spikes that are effecting performance.
    I have three vlans
    vlan 1 - 172.19.142.0/24
    vlan 2 - 172.20.142.0/24
    vlan 3 - 173.23.142.0/24
    route-map PBR permit 10
    match ip address 140
    set ip next-hop 192.168.250.2
I'm trying to policy route all www and ssl traffic
ip access-list 140 permit tcp any any eq www
ip access-list 140 permit tcp any any eq 443
    However I have two problems
1)I have internal web services, so I need www traffic from 172.23.142.0/24 ro route to 172.19.142.0/24 and this policy sends all www traffic out next hop of 192.168.250.2
    2)When I add to acl 140
    ip access-list 140 deny tcp 172.23.142.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.142.0 0.0.0.255 www
The policy works as expected but CPU starts to spike.
If I try to use 'set ip default next-hop XXXX' or change to 'route-map PBR deny 10' (for internal routed) the ip policy route-map pbr statement disappears from the vlan interface and cannot be re-added.  No errors are displayed, it's just like the command is ignored.
    I've looked at:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5023/products_tech_note09186a00807213f5.shtml#pbr
    Specifically
•Do not match ACLs that permit packets destined for a local address
•Do not match ACLs with deny ACEs
I'm looking for a way to impliment PBR for selective traffic (www and 443), but keep the internal routing intact using the same protocols (www and 443).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm not entirely sure this will work but it is worth a try. if you can't use local subnets then you need to specify all possible internet addresses. The acl below uses wildcard masks to specify every possible internet address. Due to the way wildcard masks work all traffic between 172.16.x.x and 172.31.x subnets do not match the acl. if you wanted to be more specific to your subnets you could be but it would make the acl considerably longer. But as this whole range is private addressing it doesn't really matter or shouldn't.
Also to keep the acl short it does allow traffic to the other private address ranges ie. 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x  but then so did your original acl. So you only need one permit statement in your route map with sets the next hop to 192.168.250.2.
I have assumed that you do not have any http/https traffic between internal subnets that you actually want to policy route. If you do this acl would not match and therefore they would be routed using the normal routing table.

  • Imac internal router problem

We are using Bell Wimax to connect to the internet and due to their towers being down for 2 weeks, we had lost our internet connection. It is back up and running, however we no longer can connect wirelessly to the computer. I was using the imac as the router and have tried to reestablish a connection, however the other computers can't connect. They recognize and register the signal but won't join in. I have tried to reset the location and then redo the sharing, but again, it did not work.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    First off, the folks in the G5 forums may assist you better;

    You might make sure that your Audio MIDI Setup has not been reconfigured. I can't guarantee what is correct for a G5 PPC, just an Intel. The actual setting can be found in Apps/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup;

  • This is really weird-my router seems to have a username

    Ok, this is really weird.
On top of the reoccuring screen that prompts for username/password everytime I turn on computer, there is a pulldownmenu.
In the pulldown menu seems to be my Earthlink email address. Which Earthlink is not our ISP anymore. It's Bellsouth. So, how would the router have got the Earthlink email address?
The other weird thing is that if I open any browser and type those numbers to access the router setup page, if I type the admin password which my nephew changed, I can type it with a username or without it. For the username I also tried typing in my Earthlink email address, just to see what would happen. It seems to allow me to login either way, with or without the email address for the username.
Does that not sound really weird?

Most linksys routers only use the password and require no username. They simply ignore which username you enter. You can enter anything you like as username.
It is not the router which remembers the usernames and passwords on your computer but your browser or your computer. At one time you have entered your earthlink address in your browser to connect to the router. And now it remember it...

  • Loss of audio after upgrade os x 10.7.5, reset PRAM, SMS, updated software and other recommendations i could find. Master volume sliders inactive in Audio Midi section. Can see sound bar responding it input on line in but is not being internally routed.

Recently upgrade to OS x 10.7.5 resulted in loss of what appears to be internal communication of line in audio, and output. Have tired several remedies including resetting PRAM, SMS, updating all software, multiple Sound and Audio Midi applications adjustments to no avail. Also no audio is recognized on USB mixing board I tried as well, though Audio USB Codec was displayed. THe master volume sliders and other options are greyed out on Audio Midi application whn I try to troubleshoot that. Nothing external will play through computer speakers, but internal sounds and iTunes play normally.I made sure the audio sampling rates were default. Software issue or soundcard/hardware failure.?..Pullin my hair out!

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following;
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
    com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...

  • Weird wifi/router problem?

When I first bought my Ipod touch, I could not access the Internet because it would never connect to my router. The Ipod recognized the router in the "choose a network" section of the wifi settings, but when I tapped my router's name, it said it was unable to connect. I thought it was because the "wireless" LED was not lit on my router. One night, I tapped my router's name and it somehow worked. It worked for about a month and the "wireless" LED was lit on my router. But then it stopped working and the wireless LED is off again. I didn't change anything, I don't know what happened. Can anybody help me out? I have a belkin N wireless router and I've tried restarting it. I've also tried resetting netowork settings on my ipod.

Focus your energies on your router as it apparently is only broadcasting the wireless signal intermittently. Try a router reboot - unplug the A/C power, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and let it re-initialize. You might also want to look for a firmware update and install that as well. However, if this keeps happening, it is time to go router shopping.

  • Weird Mac:Router problems

    Hi all,
I'm having a really annoying problem between my Mac (G5, dual 2.5Ghz PPC running 10.4.11) and a wireless router.
I don't think the problem is with the router or with the router's web access because:
    a) My iPhone connects to the router with no difficulties at all and loads web pages at an appropriate speed;
    b) My Powerbook (G4 PPC, 10.4.11) connects to the router with no difficulties at all, and loads pages at an appropriate speed when connected both wirelessly and via ethernet;
    c) My wife's Macbook (10.5.7) connects with no difficulties at all
    d) All the devices that connect ok do so from various locations, often the same location as the G5 or from further away than the G5. I really don't think it's a location problem
    e) This is a 'new' problem: the G5 has been connecting successfully to this network for a few years with no problems at all. Nothing has changed that I'm aware of. I was away for a few weeks (machine was switched off) and it worked ok at when I got back but now doesn't.
But the G5 drops the signal, fails to connect (error message = "there was a problem connecting to [name of network], do you want to try again?") and even when connected (ie when the Airport icon shows full signal strength) is either unable to load pages or extremely slow. For example, 15+ minutes to load the router's interface, or similar for a website.
The problem is the same for both Safari and Firefox.
Why? I've fiddled with the Airport arial on the back, I've logged out and in again, restarted the machine etc but am at a loss to think of what to try next.
Can anyone advise what I should try next, please?
    Thanks!

Nothing - absolutely nothing at all. This morning, the first time I opened Safari, it immediately responded with one of the standard messages ('Safari can't open the page...'). I quit and reopened it. This time it loaded my home page after a few minutes, but then failed to open this page (Apple Discussions) saying the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. (I've logged on to this site using my Powerbook and Safari from the same desk as my G5).
The only Console entries from today (for the G5) are saying that Dashboard Client needs an update, the weather widget failed to fetch data (unsurprisingly) and the following message (from its time stamp it looks like it occured on start-up):
Sep 14 09:42:58 jasons-power-mac-g5 mDNSResponder: mDNSPlatformSendUDP sendto failed to send packet on InterfaceID 0181B200 en0/6 to FF02:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:00FB:5353 skt 9 error -1 errno 49 (Can't assign requested address) 2706483934
    Does it mean anything?
    Thanks for your help!

  • WRT300n Internal Routing

I just picked up the WRT300n and am having diffculties. I will describe my internal network:
1 Windows 2003 server acting as Domain controller and DNS server at 192.168.1.175
4 Workstations running XP on DHCP range 192.168.1.100 - 104
    WRT300n at 192.168.1.1
The problem is that when I try to ping my server by name, it sends the traffic out on the internet and does not keep it internally. I can ping by IP and get to the internet fine. This setup worked fine with my cheap 802.11b WAP.
    Ok, where do I start?

  • Internal routing

Hi, I'm using a 2.5 intel core i5 iMac running 10.8.4. I use Traktor pro 2 and want to route the record output of traktor into logic. Im trying to use Jack but cannot get the audio into Logic. Can anyone help? Thanks

Do some reading here to get the idea:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12946606#12946606
This is the basic stuff to make the routing you want, although you'll have to fill in your actors to make it happening!
    Cheers!

  • Weird internal sounds from iPod... help!?!

Last night i unplugged my iPod from the computer, immediately it started making a crunching noise that came from inside the iPod and it started vibrating... it totally froze and i couldn't even reset it. Attaching it back to the computer did nothing either.
So i left it till the morning. By then the noise had stopped. I could turn it on, but all the memory had been wiped but it still said i only had 12GB (not 30GB) of memory. It still refuses to connect with the computer and actually makes that freeze up too. Also, when left connected, it overheated to a very high level. I've tried restoring factory settings but that does nothing either
Obviously i'm worried, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what has happened and (if anything) what i can do about it.
    Thanx

i'm having the same problem i came to apple.com to see if other users where having this problem last night i was listne to my iPod and the ipod was doing the same thing yours did but mine didnt freeze. it worked and the hard drive would vibrate and stop then continue again doing the same thing so i reset the iPod. but im going to take it back because i don't think thats a normal problem = (.

  • Routing issue with dual Ethernet NICs - Internal/External Configuration under Windows 8.1 - what am I doing wrong ?

I have a PC hosting Windows 8.1, attached to two Networks. One leads to the internet - and uses the private IP address (172.*)  the other is purely internal (also using the private address 198.*) but,  has no internet connectivity.  I'm finding
that if I don't disable my internal NIC, I can't access any internet sites. Is this a bug, or have I not done something correctly.
I have also, a Windows 7 PC, attached to the same Networks, and it exhibits no issues when connecting to either the internet or to internal locations.
(Both are Enterprise builds, though only across a Windows for Workgroups network).
Can anyone tell me what I need to be doing with Windows 8.1 please, to make both internal & external network connectivity work as is the case with Windows 7 ?
I'm only running IPv4, and both Wired Networks have at their respective ends, Routers that support DHCP & NAT. Though the internal Router's external port is not connected to anything.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
Can you tell me what you have tried so far and how did you set?
Firstly please update all network adapter driver.
    After that, do the following:
    1. Open the Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. Run "Ipconfig /all" to check your nics IP information.
    3. Use route command tell the computer which interface you want the packets to leave from.
    Assuming Network A is...
    10.10.11.0 /24
    Router is 10.10.10.1
    and Network B is...
    10.10.12.0 /24
    Router is 10.10.10.2
    then use this command:
    route add 10.10.11.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1 -p
    route add 10.10.12.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.2 -p
    Hope this helps.

  • Adding additional internal IP route

I have an internal router to connect to a different network. I want to be able to connect to devices in that network. I've selected Advanced->Routing and added a new route. I can now ping the addresses on that network, but can make no connections to them. Adding static routes to my PC allows the connections, but I'd rather the router handle the connections. Does anyone know of a way to allow those connections.

So you're able to ping from a host on VLAN1 to the vlan2?
Also are you using these instructions?

  • Channels and busses randomly re-routed in Logic 9?

Is this happening to any one but me?  It's kind of difficult to artculate but here goes.  Scenario:  I have several Logic sessions (projects started a while back) that all have similar random issues.  The projects were started as new blank or from a template.  They've been updated, saved, re-opened and re-saved and re-opened dozens of times.  Over time, I've added new tracks, Aux sends and returns (aux channels w busses assigned).  There are plug-ins on all the tracks, some Logics some Waves or other vendors.  I've edited and comped - all the types of normal updates.  The tracks contain audio regions, loops, MIDI instruments, stuff like Superior Drummer or EX synths.  I have backups and versions of all these versions.  Some were started with a MOTU travelor, some with an MR816, and I've added a UA 4-710d recently.  This behavior spans all of it.
I'm now mixing.  Every time I re-open one of these sessions (projects), I find more bizarre, seemingly random changes.  There's a stereo audio drum track- it contains a mixture of audio regions, identical copies; others are unique regions (a track of drum loop patterns with a few fills, for example).  When I last saved this session the track was fine, stereo, all regions played back.  The next time I opend the file the "fills" regions were silent.  I opened them in the Finder and they soun fine.  OR the track is no longer Stereo and the sound is only on one side.  Or the Inspector to the left of the Arrange Window is blank, and right clicking on the channel reveals that the track (let's say "track 2 drums") is "Controlled by track 19," which is a MIDI track.  My solution is to create a new track and re-copy the slient regions from the finder. Now I have two drum tracks.
I set up three aux busses, one for Delay, one as an ambience compressor, and one with Space Desgner. I re-open a session and the Aux returns no longer show the signal coming from a Buss, but now from an input.  I reassign them and I'm ok.  The plug-ins still same as before.
But this rerouting is very confusing. Nothing changed in my hardware from the last to the next session.  For me, even if hardware is changed the internal routing should not. I can see about inputs but not an Aux or Stereo mix bus.  What happens when I take my session to a studio to mix?  They have a totally unique system and configuration.  I was advised to turn off and disconnect everything external in order to get to a vanilla configuartion.  So did so and used Apples internal line in (even though I'm no longer recording) and The headphone out.  (Mac Pro 8-core).  Same thing.  The tracks are still moved.  I even see tracks that are nto stereo nor mono.  There a tracks with no stereo assignment at all (below the strip meter, which is single nto separated), even a track showing two circles NOT overlapping, one is dark and the other open / white.  I right-click and see the options Stereo, Mono, Surround.  sound comes out one side. Bizarre!
My only way to deal with this - since I've got a month invested is to create a new track for each of these- and it's working so far.  But I can't imagine haiving to keep doing this.  I trashed my Logic Preferences. I asked about a Logic cache - none such exists.  If I was working in Cubase, for instance, I'd see a VST Connections Window.  And one for Devices. I could completely reassign everything.  Is there no such control in Logic?  Is this a Logic issue or Core Audio?
I have a radio spot music bed that was starte in Logic a few versions back.  I've noticed similar behavior- and solutions - a few times.  A guitar track goes silent. I copy it to a new track and it's ok, and then a MIDI drum track goes south.  I thought this was because it was started on a differnt Mac.  But then I think - so what?  These projects should be futre compatible- even if it takes some re-sassignments.
Can't figure out why this happens or how to fix it.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas - or similar behavior?

Last things first... Sorry, no, I can't read crash reports. I'm better at reading Japanese, honestly. However, I've encountered the same error before:
    EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
...and if you do a google search you'll see that you're not alone, and, that it's not limited to working in Logic. Of the first hits on google someone said that it's a sign of bad RAM, but there were many other links to investigate so I would take that with a grain of salt for now. Maybe do a search for that yourself and see if anything posted on the web hits home for you.
EXS24 settings -- I just wanted to see if VM was on or off.
Interesting that it doesn't always happen. OK, are there particular libraries (3rd party, Logic factory stuff, etc.) that seem to perpetrate the crashes?
In the song(s) you're experiencing this in, are they already very sample-intensive, lots of sampler instruments loaded up? The reason I ask is that Logic has been known to go "huh?" and quit unexpectedly if you attempt to load up more samples than can fit into Logic's RAM footprint.
Another test... does this happen in a brand new, empty song (such as the Explore/Empty template)?
There are more things you can do to try and narrow down the problem, but rather than overwhelm you with stuff I'll stop here. Post back with your answers/results and we can take it from there.
