Weird iTunes Match issue - song correct on computer and iPhone, wrong on iPad

I hope someone can help.
I use iTunes Match for my mobile devices, with my main home PC being the golden source/reference.
Most songs work fine on my computer, iPhone 4S and iPad3 using iTunes Match ... however a few songs are incorrect on the iPad.
For example, Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway" is plays correctly on computer and iPhone, but a completely different Kelly Clarkson song plays on the iPad (a song we don't even own!).
Troubleshooting ...
a) on iTunes on my computer, iTunes match is up to date and the 'problem' songs are listed as "Matched" in the iCloud Status column.
b) on the iPad, I've tried turning off iTunes match, then re-enabling iTunes match - same issue occurs - the Kelly Clarkson songs show up, but the 'wrong' song plays
c) I've tried restarting the iPad ... no change.
I've read other threads with similar issues - they say contact support - but my systems are out of full warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way of contacting support without paying.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi - thanks for the response.
A couple of points/questions
1) I did further debug by deleting the song from my computer (leaving the song in iCloud) - then downloading from iCloud .... the song labeled Kelly Clarkson 'Breakaway' in iCloud is not the correct song .... this isn't coming from my system, as the song was 'Matched', not 'uploaded'.
2) I rechecked my iPhone ... the Kelly Clarkson song 'Breakaway' which plays correctly is stored locally on the phone ... it's not coming from iCloud/Match.
3) You mention removing "Music" from the iPad .... how is that possible? I can remove apps that I've downloaded, but don't know how to remove 'native' apps (like safari, music etc.). Also - based on my further troubleshooting, this clearly isn't an iPad issue any more ... it's an error with Apple iTunes Match catalog.
Any ideas on how to contact Apple (without me paying!) to have this resolved?

  • ITunes match errorr, have to readd computer and stoped

iTunes started to upload my unmatchable music to the cloud but at half way (about 500 songs) it said that it collapsed and i had to log out and log in to my account. Than it said after clicking to the Match icon that this computer is not added. ??? After readding it, the sync stucks all the time I try at the third step, saying: " sending informations to apple"

    Yes!
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

When I did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs in my library.  I have gone back into my library from my computer, and deleted the duplicates.  When I did so, itunes did not ask me if I wanted to delete them from the cloud.  They are still showing up on my iphone as duplicates in the cloud.  What can I do to get them from showing up in my iphone?

They are not on the iphone in the first place.  It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone.  If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • ITunes match corrupt song downloads

Hi, I am not sure if anyone has noticed anything similar but like many I have recently used iTunes match to clean up my library and consolidate my songs ripped from CD's and/or downloaded from Amazon/Play.com etc into similar quality.  In doing so I had about a 75% match rate and for these tracks I decided to download the higher bit rate versions from iTunes.  While all appeared to download fine, many of the files appear to be corrupted in that they seem to stop half way through the song.
Now to fix this I have deleted the local file an re-downloaded a new copy (sometimes having to follow this process twice and even three times to get a working version).  The only evidence that there seems to be something not right with the file is the file size is smaller but with having no basis for comparison the only way I have found to check the songs is buy playing through each one and skipping to the end of the track to see if there is anything there.
Has anyone else found a similar issue and if so, any easier way of scanning for corrupt song files?  So far I have scanned 600 'matched' songs and found 30 errors.  One CD which had almost half the songs with errors was Billy Idol's Charmed Life if anyone else has it and may want to check.

I would try one other test -- assuming you still have the original files, delete those 30 problematic files from iCloud, then import your original source files into the new library and then re-do the matching / delete local / download process again.  In other words, now you're testing the entire process from start to finish with this new library, just to see the results.  My guess is that you'll have the same problem, but at least this eliminates the library itself as a factor.
And assuming it's still a problem, then I'm not sure.  I always figured that once the songs were Matched, they should be pristine at least on their end.  but it's actually possible that these 30 tracks are in fact corrupt on the iTunes server end.  I wish I had these songs to test, just to give you a 2nd tester to confirm if I saw the same issues.   Other than that, if you had a different system or a different location you can test, you could at least eliminate hardware / OS as a factor.
And @carlton -- yeah, it was just a bad day yesterday.  Going over the TOS I see what happened and how things were perceived.  I just wish there was a way to give Apple more active feedback other than the feedback URL or chatting with an L1 rep.  Hopefully they are reading this board and making notes.

  • After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".

After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".
I have deleted these songs and downloaded them from iTunes Match (they were "matched" and not "uploaded" files).  However, it still does not work.

I have the same issue with 8 songs in my library. All are "Matched" and I've tried deleting them and redownloading them from iTunes Match, but they won't play in iTunes or transfer to any of my iDevices.

  • IPad and iPhone Wrongly Think My Computer is Not Subscribed to iTunes Match

I paid for iTunes Match, my Mac Book Pro shows it is on, my iTunes has it on, and yet when I turn iTunes Match on in my iPad and iPhone, they ask me for my password, then both tell me:
"You are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match.  Use iTune on your computer so subscribe."
I restarted everything, but the phone and pad still think the computer's not subscribed?
    THANKS

If you have songs from another account, sign-in with that account on your Mac Book and download them to your Mac.  See Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Then, sign in with your original ID and use the iTunes Store menu > Update iTunes match.
    Look at
iTunes Match: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913
    It has important tips like:
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is enabled. To disable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > Music > Use Cellular Data > Off.

  • ITunes Match deleted songs from my hard drive. I had to re-rip them. How can I stop this from happening?

iTunes Match deleted songs from my hard drive. How can I prevent this from happening if I try it again?

iTunes Match can in no way be considered a backup service, this is due to the inexact nature of the 'matching process' (see https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112, for more detail).
Loss of files from a Disk is certainly possible through media failure.  However, the extent of iTunes Match capacity is solely to influence the content of the cloud.  Perhaps there was a coincident, or pre-existing, failure of the disk which was simply exposed by the iTunes Match interrogation of the disk content.
There are certainly other services which depending upon your goal may work well.  For example, Google Play with gBeats IOS App works very well.  My use of Match is to synchronise across several computers and to drive Apple TV and an IOS device - other IOS devices still use sync for specific music and are complimented by gBeats for access to the full library when local mobile signal strength is high.
The strong advice to always start with a secure backup remains but if your primary concern is iTunes Match interfering with physical disk content you can relax - it simply does not have this ability.  (Apology to Sherlock, further investigation required).

  • How do i get itunes to recognize songs on my computer that came from a purchased CD?

How do i get iTunes to recognize songs on my computer that came from purchased Cd's?

You just import them to iTunes, or you import them to iTunes directly from the CD. But, it you had imported them to the computer before you had iTunes, then you go to edit, add file to library, or add folder to library, however you have the music set up.

  • HT4915 iTunes Match not updating Changes from Library and reverting to original data WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!?

How do I keep iTunes Match from De-Organizing my music? I have spent hours organizing my music ratings, info, and deleting duplicates only to quit iTunes and find out that it reverts back to the original when it starts up and syncs with Match. It first de-organized hours worth of my time. Then I tried it again with iTunes match off only to find out that once you turn it on it de-organizes it again!! I have iTunes match turned off on all my devices. HELP!!

Oh let me elaborate some more as my frustration kept me from being clear. I updated my library (which is of significant size) with different ratings, genre and deletion of duplicate songs. While iTunes Match was on. I closed the ITunes program and, later once I re-opened it it asked if it connect to the internet like usual and right in front of my eyes reverted what I had updated back to before I updated it.
I never had this issue before except for when I first upgraded my macbook and copied the music files straight from the iTunes folder from a backup disk which did not save any of my ratings.
I then modified a couple of songs again, closed the I-Tunes application, opened it again, and saw it revert it again.
I turned iTunes Match off on all my devices and modified some songs, restarted iTunes and the changes stayed.
Something with the "Cloud" is not allowing these changes to remain permanent. Once a change is made to a file it is timestamped right? So why is the cloud and computer not following the latest timestamp?
I have finished organizing a sizable amount of music and am now worried about turning Match on again in fear that it will screw up my entire library.
I do this about once every 5 years or so where I spend a lot of time organizing my music, photos, etc... I just wish that for once I would have technology that wouldn't make it a nightmare.
Side note: I am bilingual and recently changed my computer language from English to Portuguese. So iTunes thinks its totally cool to change the genre of only the songs that are played to the portuguese spelling of the genre, which practically duplicates all my genre. Thats pretty annoying. Just leave the freaking music metadata language alone dudes if the artist speaks english the metadata should be in english in my opinion. Or at least have this auto language update as an option under preferences one could opt out of.

  • HT1688 iTunes Match is not downloading properly to my iPhone.

iTunes Match is not downloading properly to my iPhone.  I removed some songs from the cloud and it has not sent some songs to my iPhone and a lot of my artwork is not coming down.  I have tried to turn it on and off in iTunes, updated to Match and restarted the computer and phone.  Nothing works.  I just began using Match.  What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?

i have an ipod 4 can i connect to pc and, using itunes match, store all music off ipod and then transfer to a new ipod 5?

    hI, bella
I also met this issue a few days ago and I finally find out how to transfer music from iPod to computer:
    1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.
    2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.
    3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.
    4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.
    5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Click 'OK'.
