Weird Keyword thing

I've got some characters showing up in keywords I can't get rid of, example:
freedom, fun > CATEGORIES, harmony, horizontal*, journey, motorcycle > land transportation, motorcycle rider, motorcycling, outdoor, playing, relaxation > CATEGORIES, responsibility > CATEGORIES
This is one set of keywords. Obviously I don't want ">" or "CATEGORIES" in there but every time I try to delete them they pop back in. They also do not show up in the left columns keyword listing.
This could have something to do with the wrong cvkc keyword sets being imported into PhotoMechanic and then when read by LR it pulled in all of the bad keywords with it.
Thanks for clues.

For me it happened if I had a keyword in multiple hierarchies ie:
Family Members: George
Pets: George
I posted a feature request to Adobe that the keywords entry area should just display the keywords themselves and not the hierarchies. The hierarchies should be displayed when the popup is set to keywords and parents.

  • Weird keyword behaviour in LR3

When I click on a keyword down in my list to apply to an image, the panel jumps up to the top level. This is new to 3.0 and unwelcome as there is often a next keyword down the list I want to apply, so I have to scroll down again.
    Anyone else seeing this?
    John

Have you tried using the scroll wheel on the mouse to navigate the keyword list?

Your Windows 7 appears to be x86 and the memory is 4GB. You may want to switch to Windows 7 x64 and add some more RAM. If you actually have Windows 7 x64, add more RAM.
Also, make sure Lightroom is the only application running so it has the maximum amount of RAM to work in.

  • A Really Weird Keyword Problem

I imported my photos into Lightroom with "Automatically write changes into XMP" checked. I then added a lot of keywords. I ran Bridge to make sure that the keywords were going into the files properly. Everything looked fine except for one folder of about 175 photos. Neither Bridge CS2 nor CS3 see the keywords in that folder. I checked the files in iView and found that the keywords are indeed in the files. I purged Bridge cache, deleted and reimported the folder in Lightroom, and tried various experiments adding removing keywords and metadata, but nothing works to make the keywords visible in Bridge.
I must be overlooking something simple, but for the life of me I can't think of what it might be. Any help figuring this out would be appreciated.

Well, I finally figured it out, but I don't know why it happens. That one folder was a bunch of jpegs that had been processed in Photoshop and output as new files about five years ago. I had the originals I was able to verify that keywording worked fine in them. Other than the adjustments to the images, the files look identical regarding EXIF and other metadata. I guess I'll just file this one under mystery and move on.

  • Weird sync thing with iPhone 3G

    Hai
I have the following thing with an iphone 3G. On one mac the phone is syncing and I am able to download apps. On another mac I am able to syncing but NOT able to download apps.
The choosen apps dissapear during the syncing process
Can anyone help, where to look to solve this problem.
I already have restarted the iphone,
    regards
    iemke

Plug the 3G into a wall outlet, as this "can" take several hours, then: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. This will return the phone to a state just like it was when first taken out of the box. Plug it into her computer, name it what you want & sync her content to it. Or, (faster), on her computer: iTunes>Preferences>Devices...put a check in the box labeled "Prevent iPods/iPhones from syncing automatically". Connect the 3G, on the Summary Pane, hit the "Restore" button. Both produce the same result, but restoring as new is faster.

  • Is this weird screen thing on top normal?

I am using iPhone 6 Plus.
As you can see on my video http://youtu.be/tfXWWSARc68, on top of the screen, 1 milimeter from top, when locking/unlocking phone, something weird happens, screen is fuzzy. Please can you check if that happens on yours too so I can know if it's my phone or what..
here is wallpaper if u want to try on your device

The background is being zoomed in every time you turn on the display. And that particular background has noise(fuzzy) so the pixels in it are being stretched when zoomed in when the display is turned on and zoomed out when the display is turned off.

  • My Ipod touch turns white and goes back to restart with this weird code thing what should i do

There is this code thing on my start screen and sometimes when i turn it on it stops what its doing and restarts from there and it happens all over again what should i do?

    Try the following:
    - Reset. nothng will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you have problems restoring, try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • Weird ping thing

    Netware 6.5 sp7, TCP 6.81.06, WSPIP 6.23.06, and BX2.lan version 3.41
(although b57 and c1000 do the same thing)
I can communicate just fine with everything.
However, when I ping the network identifier address of the server network
    (i.e server address is 192.168.4.1, and I ping 192.168.4.0), I will get
anywhere from 3 to 30 simultaneous responses.
My MS servers, Cisco routers and switches and ASA, and my workstations do
not do this. Only my netware servers. Linux do not do it either.
Just curious if there is something to this that I don't know.
    Tom

I thought the broadcast address was on the other end, ie 192.168.4.255?

You're pinging the subnet broadcast address and every device on that
subnet will potentially respond - resulting in the the 3 - 30 replies.
Your other ping implementations just report the success/failure response
of the ping - netware responds with all the responses.

The "heat wave" on the screen happens when scrolling. It is driving me nuts!!!

Thank you so much for the help. It solved it. Now my eyes can look at the screen again when i scroll using Firefox 8.0! I appreciate your time to help me!

  • Mail/Word weird clipboard thing

I have a script that extracts information from various fields in selected messages within Mail concatenates it into a single string, formats it and places it on the clipboard.
When run the script works fine if I paste the result into TextEdit. However if I paste it into MS Word then all the carriage returns (whether inserted by the script or copied from the body of the message) are not pasted.
    Anyone have any ideas why?
This is a modified verison of a script I used to have for use with QuickMail Pro and it used to work fine with any text editor so I am a bit confused.

Perhaps Word uses CR/LF as it's line ending so instead of returns in your preparation script you should be using something like:
set CRLF to (ASCII character 13) & (ASCII character 10)
then insert CRLF where you were putting returns.
Note: I haven't tried this - I don't know what a typical line looks like on your clipboard.

  • Weird permissions thing

    Hi There!
    I have a Mac running 10.4 networked to a Mac running 10.3.
The 10.3 has four hard drives.
When I mount them all on my 10.4 Mac, I don't seem to be able to access SOME of the files, and I can't trash files, etc. on the mounted disks.
I went to the 10.3 Mac , did Command-I on each of the disks, and clicked on "ignore ownership", but it doesn't seem to help.
    Any ideas?

From my 10.4 computer, with the disk mounted, if I click on a file and do "Get Info" it says I can Read and Write, and the owner is the other machine.

  • Ipad 4th gen 32Gb seems to be doing weird cycling thing.

SO let me explain, I had used Ipad about 2 weeks ago, Then today It acted like dead battery. ie nothing happened like normally when you press the Sleep/Wake Button.
So I plugged it into the AC plug and a Red battery indicator displyed with the bottom 1/4 screen displaying a greyish/white rectangle. Then all of a sudden the apple logo displays for about 1.5 seconds then off and about 2 sec later back to the red battery indicator Greish/white rectangle screen again then apple logo then repeat.
It will do this for hours and it seem the battery is gaining 0% charge.
Not to mention I tried to restore it but when connecting to mylaptop ( Which is all I have ever used to update/Sync with) It does nothing and I cannotget computer to even detect it.
Anyone know what the ehck coudl of happened here and how I can get it restored. I have backup so I can erase all if needed.
All I know is that this now is totally useless

This is after being plugged into AC for over 24 hours. I first get the low battery screen then within like 1-2 seconds the apple logo pops up then within 1-2 seconds it acts like it is restarting and goes back to battery screen and repeats this over and over again.
I have tried holding the Home button and the Sleep awake button but it seeems to have no effect the Ipad just keeps doing its cycle.
I tried plugging it into the laptop but it does not detect the ipad so I am stuck.
I have no Idea how to restart or reset it other then the 2 ways I mentioned.

  • Keyword search on collection set not working for specific sub-collections

I am having the following problem:
    When I do a search (Text->Keyword->Contains All-> for a keyword (in my
case "Fave"), it does not work if I select the collection set that contains the
collection that contains the images with that keyword.
It DOES work if I select the folder, parent folder, or just the
collection that contains the image. Just not the collection set.
The details of how this came about are below - and are probably a
little unusual, but not outside the realm of what should be allowed.
Is there a way to reset/reindex keywords in a collection?
    Specifically:
images lives in collection C1 which is part of collection set
CS1. It lives in F1 (on disk and in LR) which is in parent folder
PF1. A keyword search works when I select F1 or PF1 or C1, but NOT
    when I select CS1
This happens on a set of folders that went through the following
    (totally allowable?) sequence:
    I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit machine with 64 bit LR3.3
I have an internal disk where I keep my catalog and images. Windows
mounts this as P:. I also mount it on my Desktop as the folder
"Lightroom" (this allows me to change to a larger external disk
by mounting it in the same place without changing the locations of
    all the files).
I mistakenly imported pics into P:/PF1 rather than
    C:/.../Desktop/Lightroom/PF1 as I normally do.
Added keywords made a collection C1 put the images in it, and added
    C1 to collection set CS1
Having realized my import mistake (P: rather than
C:/.../Desktop/Lightroom), I went in the Folders->P: section and did
an Update Folder Location on F1 to C:/.../Desktop/Lightroom/F1
This seemed to be all fine, but this weird Keyword search problem
    resulted.
I have tried the following things:
o Deleting and re-adding Keywords in the Collection
o Deleting and re-adding the Keywords in the Folder
o Renaming and relocating the Folder
o Create new collection C2 and move pics from F1 into C2

See my simplified recipe for reproducing this bug (which turns out not to be related to the drive mounting I described):
