Weird Kuler Extension Panels in PS and AI

The Kuler panel on AI, "Unable to connect to the kuler website, The server is either busy or you are offline." But it does work on INDD and PS I just can't see any of my saved color schemes I can only see the popular ones.
I have done research and saw about the setting in com.adobe.AdobeOnlineHelp.plist but those setting are correct and I can connect to the Adobe exchange. I have swatches saved at my kuler site and can get them using my iPad and adobe ideas. I also saw a post about having verdana font active which it is.
I am at a loss and tired of scouring the net for ideas....So can I get some help so that I can get my kuler panels back to life? Or is this turned off like the file sync is now?

Kuler website and Kuler extension inside application

I saved some swatches using the Kuler website in Mykuler account. I saved them as swatch exchange files to import into Fireworks CS4. At the time I didn't realize Fireworks CS4 did read swatch exchange files. Now I have learned that Firworks CS4 has a built in Kuler extension under Window in the pull down menu.
So, I'm all set up with a Kuler panel inside Fireworks CS4. The problem now is, I don't see a way to access my Mykuler account so I can use the swatches I saved already using the website. Do I need to recreate my swatches in the Kuler panel now? I see you can save swatches in the panel and upload them to Kuler. Can I not access my account from the panel?

You can save your themes as public with some specific tag on kuler website.
Inside fireworks, just search for theme names or tags or your username. You should be able to see them and use as per your requirements.
Just to save time, you can also save theme name/tag/username as custom tag. It'll be displayed in your theme feed list just below 'saved'

Exchange and Kuler extensions unable to connect in fresh install of CC products

I just installed CC products yesterday (PS,ID,AI,PR,FL,DW,LR,AE,Exchange,and a few others). Upon successful download and install, nothing in the extensions panels will load. GRanted i only have Kuler and Exchange at the moment but, neither will connect in any product. The exchange product will connect seperatley but the extension will not. Below is a screen-cap of the window. Any suggestions? I have already checked that the "allow exchange to connect" button is checked in all applicable products.

OK, thanks for ruling-out the VPN/proxy/firewall issues. Just to make doubly-sure that some other software on your computer isn't blocking internet access for unknown programs, can you check what antivirus software is currently running, and check whether you have any third-party Internet Security software installed?
Given that you're seeing this behaviour in several products, it suggests that some system-wide component is failing to get online. We need to work out exactly which component is the problem, so could you please share these logs with us?

Also, it looks like there may be a setting which has somehow disabled internet access for extensions.
Launch the Registry Editor:
For Windows XP, choose Start > Run and type regedit then press return to open the registry editor, or...
For Windows 7/Vista, choose Start, type regedit, and press return when the registry editor appears in the results.
Look for the following key. If it's there, please tell us the value:
For 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault.
For 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault
...or on Mac,
Open the Apple Property List Editor (supplied with the Apple SKD) or other property list editor application..
Open the file [Startup Disk]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeOnlineHelp.plist.
Select Root to see the subentries.Locate the string object AdobeOnlineDefault, and tell us the value.

There is a new Kuler HTML5 panel available on Add Ons: http://adobe.ly/UgxQSN
Adobe is working on HTML based version of Adobe Watermark, eMailer, etc.
If some extensions are must have for you, you have to continue to use PS CC until HTML based counterparts become available.

Extension panels, when minimized, dissapear when illustrator is reloaded

Example;
1. Open kuler extension
2. Minimize the panel, so it only displays the Kuler Icon & the word "Kuler"
3. Close & Restart Illustrator
Kuler is now gone, it needs to be manually called back again.
The exact same problem occurs with FreegridUI panel (C++ sdk) which is also based on the same Flash ui extension style panel. No doubt there would be a crafty way to fix it via C++, but if this was corrected, either in the SDK or whereever, it would benefit all coders that use these flash ui panels.
My guess is, all extension builder type panels suffer from this problem.
The other (normal) illustrator panels do not suffer from this problem.
If the panel is left maximized upon exit, they will reappear in the same place as the user left it.

The plot thickens,
When I started Illustrator today, the kuler toolbar was open, with the icon. This is great.I can't really remember what the previous state of the Kuler toolbar/ panel was.
When I push the Kuler icon to expand the panel, it expands out to 5 pixels in width and about 400 px in height. I could resize only Vertically, to make the strip longer.
I had the same experience with my own plugins, where they would expand out to 5px in width and 20 px in height.
As far as a designer is concerned, the plugin I wrote is broken. Getting this right is very difficult when even the supplied plugins do not work correctly. eg. Kuler.
The operating system I'm developing for is MACOSX 10.6.6
It is an extremely difficult bug to reproduce unfortunately.
Plugin development on a mac for illustrator has been a really frustrating experience for the last two years.

InDesign - CS Extension panel icons

Hi!
I'm experiencing the very strange issue - the icons for my extension panel are not displayed at all in InDesign - unless I rename them to Kuler's icons:
PP_kulerIcon_R.png & PP_kulerIcon_N.png. If I rename them to, for example, to PP_kulerIcon1_R.png & PP_kulerIcon_N.png - in rollover state instead of my icon, the default "folder with a brick" icon will be displayed (instead of PP_kulerIcon1_R.png).
There's no such problem in Photoshop or Illustrator - in these programs the extension icon is being displayed correctly.
Only in InDesign. I install the extension from Extension Manager and specify icons with
<Icon Type="Normal">./PP_kulerIcon1_N.png</Icon>
<Icon Type="RollOver">./PP_kulerIcon_R.png</Icon>
Is it a bug, or is it a bug in my eyes?

It looks to me like icons or changed menu positions do not show until prefs are trashed...

Extensions Panel greyed out in Photoshop CC on a Mac. Can't open Mini Bridge

I've just (yesterday) joined the Adobe Cloud, with full access to all the Adobe programs.
Opening Photoshop, I also wanted Mini Bridge open but the 'Extensions' item on the 'Window' menu is greyed out and can't be selected.
I've tried opening Bridge first, the Photoshop and vice versa, either way, the problem is the same. I've checked the Photoshop Preferences under 'Plug Ins' and made sure 'Load Extensions Panel' was ticked (which it was originally)
So, basically, no matter what I try, the Extensions Panel seems to remain greyed out.
Can any of you good people come up with the reason why this is happening and how I can solve i please?

If your resize 8 plug-in is from onOne then you need to install version 8.5.1 for the plug-ins to be available through extensions. Even before the 8.5.1 update to the suite the resize 8 plug-in was available via the File->Automate... menu item after a re-install of the suite so it detected CC 2014.

FW CS4 Kuler Extension: How to import priate palette?

Hi everybody,
using the kuler extension to FW in CS4 I only see public
color themes. Am I missing where I can log on to see and import my
private color palettes? Or is there a way to import the exported
ASE file from the kuler AIR application into FW? I think a similar
question was asked concerning CS3 before.

this video was the most instructive one that I have seen
about the new color handling features of FW. But the problem of
private palettes not being accessible within the Kuler extension
remains. For the time being I will live with the necessitiy either
to publish any theme in Kuler I wish to import into Fireworks later
or to manually color pick the swatches from the AIR application.
What makes me feel unhappy this way is that everybody with the same
intention is being forced to somehow "pollute" the Kuler commmunity
with intermediate palettes. Yes, and why can't these ASE files
being used by FW? Ok, I guess I want too much.

Open file dialogue hangs with extension panels

Hi. I have PS CS5 64 bit running on a PC, Win 7.
Everything has been working fine but I have recently installed two new extension panels - Fundy Image Brander and Tych Panel. When either of these scripts require you to input a file to open via the Open File dialogue box, everything hangs for 2-3 minutes. The mouse and keyboard do not lock and you can open up other windows which work fine. The open file dialogue just hangs (not just on selecting an individual image but selecting a drive or folder). If you call up the Task Manager and End Photoshop as a task a dialogue box pops up with the mesage "The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you."
Photoshop otherwise works well. It's just when the extension panel requires you to input a file to open. Has anyone else encountered this problem or has any ideas?

Hi. Both are extension panels. Fundy Image Brander is a paid for extension (http://www.fundysoftware.com/image-brander/) and the other a free extension (http://lumens.se/tychpanel/).
I have seven extension panels running and these are the only two that require the user to set file input locations.
Photoshop otherwise works just fine and I have no problems opening files. Other Windows programs also run without any problems. It's just these two that hang when the select or open file dialogue appears.
And no I haven't contacted the producers.

Resizing Extension Panel does not layout Flex controls at all, simply scales stage

I'm having this issue with Extension Panels in Fireworks compiled with the Flex 4 SDK. When the panel is first opened, it has the correct dimensions and controls are laid out correctly. If I resize it at all, it scales itself instead of laying out it's controls to take advantage of the new space. This doesn't seem to occur when using Flex 3's mx:Application, only Flex 4. Any ideas?

This occurs no matter the Application container control I use - mx:Application, mx:ApplicationWindow, cs:CSXSWindowedApplication, and so on.

So they key is apparently to have this as a compiler flag:
-includes=mx.managers.systemClasses.MarshallingSupport
And in applicationComplete:
CSInterface.instance.autoThemeColorChange = true;
Also use CSExtension as your base application class/component.

Path to the extension panel's directory from ExtendScript .jsx

Both $.fileName and "catch( err ) { where = File(err.fileName); }" return the path to "Adobe Photoshop CS5".

Running as a script in ID, it'll just return the scripts folder. But, if that line errors, ES error objects contain a reference to the script File.
I don't know if this will work in the context of a CS Extension panel or not, but it's certainly worth a try.

I'm trying to get Extensions Panel for CC but I only find for CS5. I want to get the Russel Brown Paper Texture plug-in. I am subscribed to CC for Lightroom and Photoshop.

You can use the Add-ons website combined with the CC Desktop App to obtain add-ons content for Photoshop and Lightroom for CC.

No login available in Business Catalyst extension panel in Dreamweaver CS5.

I am not getting the login form in the Business Catalyst Extension panel in Dreamweaver CS5.
I have added the extension and restarted Dreamweaver, but the panel still shows two buttons: Get Started ( taking me to download the extension) and Learn More ( taking me to a page that does not exist anymore).
Does anyone know how to make the login form appear so that I can get Business Catalyst integrated with Dreamweaver CS5?

Photoshop CS6 Extension Panel

I am a Creative Cloud member. After installing the last update, my extension panel is not showing the icons associated for some of my extensions. For example: I have Russell Brown's extensions: - Adobe Edit in ACR and Flypaper Pro, which is supposed to show a colored icon with the letters ACR and the other a colored icon with a picture of a fly. Now for these extensions, it shows a pictures of LEGOs - I guess that's Adobe's icon for a plug-in. All of these extensions are showing in: Window>Extensions. What's going on?

I have seem to fix the problem, I uninstalled Photoshop and all of Creative Cloud - including Application Manager.
I download and reinstalled Application Manager, then reinstalled Photoshop and all my extensions seem to be working again.
I was getting some errors in Application Manager when I tried installed After Effects, so I decided to reinstall everything and seems to have done the trick... have you tried this @princess0333?

I don't think it's a bug. As mentioned below, for the plugins to work, they need to be updated to work with the new architecture that Adobe is using for the 2014 apps. Many devs have already announced updates are available for their plugins, like Red Giant, and many others on the way. So check with each plugin developer to see if updates are available.
Again, please keep in mind that Adobe haven't specifically said this. But it's documented that plugin developers have had the new architecture specs for at least a few weeks, and have been working on updates because the new versions are NOT COMPATIBLE with the old plugins.
