Weird lFTP og in problem

My computer has developed a weird FTP fault. When I try to
log in to the server via DW8 it takes a long time and then
eventually, if it logs in at all, it displays the root folder with
no files. There's no + to expand the file listing and after one of
these incidents DW crashes when I try to shut it down. I still have
the previous version of DW on this machine and that exhibits the
same problem.
I can log into the site without problem with an FTP client on
the same machine and using the same version of DW on a different
machine.
The only thing that has changed on the computer is that I let
my Norton security account expire and then uninstalled Norton. As
far as I know nothing else has changed - anyone any
suggestions?

    weird dreamweaver keyboard mapping problem:
    Hope this solution helps someone out. If you have q's, ask
    and I will try to help.
    I was having a weird problem in dreamweaver... Whenever I was
    in code view and typed "shift+i" to make a capital "I", instead it
    would paste from the clipboard.
    I finally figured out what was happening. I compared the
    menu.xml in my app support folder in the user library to the
    original menu.xml file that was in the application folder. I went
    through until I came across the diff:
    menu.xml in my library/app support folder:
    <!-- Windows Navigation Shortcuts -->
    <shortcut key="Cmd+Ins" name="Copy2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCopy()) { dw.clipCopy() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Copy2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Ins" name="Paste2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipPaste()) { dw.clipPaste() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Paste2" />
    <shortcut key="Shift+Del" name="Cut2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCut()) { dw.clipCut() }" domRequired="FALSE"
    id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Cut2" />
    orig menu.xml file:
    <!-- Windows Navigation Shortcuts -->
    <shortcut key="Cmd+Ins" name="Copy2" platform=""
    command="if (dw.canClipCopy()) { dw.clipCopy() }"
    domRequired="FALSE" id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Copy2" />

    command="if (dw.canClipCut()) { dw.clipCut() }" domRequired="FALSE"
    id="DWShortcuts_HTMLSource_Cut2" />
    There was a diff in the "platform=" tags. The orig stated
    [platform="win"], my config stated [platform=""] (nothing in
    between the ""'s). So, I reset the platform tag to be
    [platform="win"] in my settings and then relaunched dreamweaver. It
    fixed the problem.
    Not sure how this occurred, but it works now.

  • Weird BGP path selection problem

    Hi, all,
    I am seeing a weird BGP path selection problem on 4948 switch running cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-46.SG.bin code, this switch has two uplinks to the same ISP's different edge router, one circuit is primary the other one is strict backup, only default route is accepted from ISP. I am setting both local preference and weight to the default route advertised over backup link, however neither one is taking effect, BGP still thinks the backup link is better, what could be wrong?

    Hi,
    On cisco routers , weight is having highest preference to decide best path. By default for received route, weight is 0 but you are setting weight 90 to backup path and that is why it is getting preferred (higher is better). Please remove weight and let local preference be 90 (lesser than route on primary path)

  • Weird Indesign CC font problem...

    Here's another one:
    It seems that I am having problems with selecting fonts. When I choose a font via the menu-dropdown at the upper screen, it regularly won't change the selected text. But doing so in the dedicated floating text-window, however, does. And here's the kicker: The next time it will be vice versa, that is the text-window won't work, but the menu will. No matter if OTF, TTF or T1-fonts. Most recent updates all around, even after resetting preferences.
    I mean, it's not like that is the least bit annoying in what is basically a type-setting software. :-). Does anybody know a fix for this?
    Carbon/Cocoa or not, this all feels rather like a step back from CS6. PS CC didn't run at all at first, but now that it does, it feels more or less bug-free, but in ID, the longer you work with it, the more weirdness you find that just wasn't there in the previous version.
    Has anybody had this weird behaviour as well or is it my system?

    @Peter – thank you for fixing the link, didn't know it was screwed up…
    Yes. This is a very scary and dangerous feature. I'm all with Brigitta Kahn in the comments section at Indesignsecrets:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/hover-scrolling-indesign-cc-feature-bug.php/comment-page-1#comm ent-622819
    One of the things that makes me hesitate using InDesign CC at all.
    And this feature is also in Illustrator CC and a few other CC products…
    See Kelly Vaughn's comments on it:

    PS.: Hope to get my links right this time. (I was logged out inadverently during this session from the forums)

  • A really weird setback. iTunes 7 problem.

    Whenever I try to open iTunes, it says that my quicktime version is outdated, and I can't open itunes. I apparently need version 7.1.3, while I only have the measly 7.1. The weird thing is, when I open quicktime and go to help > about, it says I have 7.1.3. What could the problem be?
    I've tried the following:
    -Repair
    -Removing and reinstalling
    -Re-downloading the installer and repairing
    -Re-downloading and removing, followed by reinstalling

    yeah, things are moving pretty quickly here ... reminds me of the iTunes 5.0.0.35 days.
    okay, plausibly you might have some skunky QT 7.1 installation configuration information stuck on the PC that is confusing your current itunes.
    so let's try this.
    head into Add/Remove programs and uninstall any instance of QT that you find in there.
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to check for any leftover QuickTime installation configuration information on your PC. if you find any, remove it with CleanUp:
    Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    ... then try a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
    download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
    if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
    (if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Menu bar weird square square pixels problem

    Hi I have this very weird problem and wonder if it is a software or hardware issue (i couldn't find anyone who have the same issue).
    After using my iMac for a while this weird pixel problem on the menu bar appears.
    The problem (it is small but you can see the magenta areas).
    This is the enlargement of the problem.
    When I change applications/click on the menu bar, it disappears but reappears after a while. This problem started just recently and I'm wondering if any of the Apple updates might have affected it.
    Does anyone know what's happening? Do I need to bring it for repair?
    Thanks.

    They look like Atari Space Invaders "Quick shoot them down"
    Sorry I couldn't help it!
    Try switching to and from Translucent Menu Bar in the Desktop Preference, Disk Utility / Repair Permissions and Restarting your iMac.

  • Weird EXS24 Random Assignment Problem!

    I'm starting to mess around with Logic Pro X for the first time and everything has been running smoothly except my EXS24. When I sample, I chop up audio files and assign them to mpc style pads to trigger as midi events within the EXS24. After I record something that sounds decent, I refine the chops by going into the EXS24 and selecting "edit". This brings up a menu of all my chops. From here I right click each sample and select "Open in Sample Editor". After I adjust the start and end points on a given chop, the EXS24 always seems to mess up the other chops in the group by randomly assigning them to different keys or replacing a sample with another one so that it is duplicated.
    This is going increasingly frustrating as I can't sample effectively anymore. There has to be a solution for this? If anyone has experience with this weird issue please advise. Thanks guys, Happy Thanksgiving.

    I found out what the problem is.
    I have different font settings for Arabic pages than english pages. If an english webpage is open in a tab and an arabic one is afterwards loaded in the same tab, no problems occur. However if one goes from an arabic page to an english one in the same tab, the english settings are not loaded and therefore you will get messed up fonts.
    The obvious solution is to find one font that works for both which isn't as easy as it sounds. Second best is to not move from arabic to english in the same tab (takes getting used to).
    I am not sure if the problem occurs in persian/hebrew/urdu or similar languages but I suspect it might.
    Marked the thread as solved.

  • Weird SIM contact registration problem

    I have a weird problem with my Nokia 6230i. When I try to save a new contact to my SIM or copy from phone memory to SIM (name length fits to SIM restrictions) I get an error message telling the attempt was unsuccessful even though SIM memory has enough space.
    However, when I turn off and turn it back on the phone I can see the new contact has successfully saved/copied to SIM. I couldn't solve this weird problem. My SIM card is a newer one and I can use it on another Nokia without any problem. I also tried another SIM on this phone, still no success. Can anyone help me on this issue?
    The firmware version is 3.88.

    That is because iPhone sim cards do not store any information on them to be transferred in the first place.
    You cannot store anything on the sim card of an iPhone - it is just not possible.
    If you want to transfer information, then connect the phone to iTunes and do it like this as was intended, but you could wait even longer than all night and nothing would happen wth a sim card, because it's not possible.

  • Another weird Icebook cursor-freeze problem

    I recently asked about a full cursor-lockup problem here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=440688
    Problems started after updating this machine to OS 10.3.9.
    Anyway, I've been able to improve matters to when the cursor freezes, I can
    unlock it by unplugging the phone line to the (internal) modem. Only locks up when I'm online (dialup). Weird, huh? And down to nuisance level, though I'd still like to cure it.
    Details: 2002 Icebook G3/600 running OS 10.3.9
    Ran fsck, repaired permissions, cleaned & reseated RAM (tests
    OK with Memtest)
    Any other ideas?

    Icebook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   384 MB RAM

    I've had that problem since I purchased my MacBook about 2 years ago. I've even flatten and installed new OSs over this time, no change. The behavior I have is the cursor sticking after just about any input which requires the computer to do some processing (ie: copying and pasting text, performing edits a photo, renaming a folder, etc...). It's very distracting when you're working hard on a document or drawing and constantly waiting for the cursor to unstick. Believe it or not, I've actually gotten used to it. Good news is, I'm buying a MacBook Pro soon, and giving this computer to my wife. I'll freak if the new Pros do it too. No......!

  • Weird iTunes iPod display problem

    iPod Touch G5, IOS 8.02
    iMac desktop OS 10.9.5
    This began when my WiFi sync stopped working.  As far as I can recall, it was coincident with loading IOS-8.  For what it's worth, my WiFi sync with my original iPad (IOS-5.1.1) has been flawless.
    I tried a reboot but it didn't help so I did a Restore.  That solved the problem and, as far as I can determine, the iPod is working properly in all respects.  However, it created a problem with iTunes...
    After the Restore, the app displays on the iTunes screens show perhaps a third or a half of my apps grayed out.  See screen shot below.  You'll notice that the issue affects both Apple apps and non-Apple apps.  This did NOT happen before the Restore.  All apps look properly and work properly on the iPad (at least the half dozen that I tried).
    Note that this problem does NOT appear with the 5.1.1 iPad.
    I rebooted the iPod several times and nothing changed.  I tried a sync several times and nothing changed.  I did another Restore and it appeared to solve the problem - all apps displayed properly on iTunes.  Unfortunately, when I shut down iTunes and opened it up again the problem returned.  This happens with both with a WiFi connection and a cable connection.
    I tried a third Restore (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment).  Same result.  Problem temporarily resolved but returned after iTunes shut down and re-open.
    I trashed the Preferences plist file and allowed iTunes to create a new one.  No change.  I repaired Permissions.  No change.
    I tried to trash the iTunes application so that I could reload a brandy new version but a message appeared stating iTunes can not be modified or deleted because it’s required by the IOS.
    Any clues?
    iTunes displaying iPod IOS 8.02:
    iTunes displaying iPad IOS 5.1.1
    Result when attempt is made to trash iTunes:

    I've just looked on the iTunes Store and there is now only episode 118 of "The Week In Media", so presumably the Podcast's producers have removed the faulty file.
    It's the Podcast's producer who provides the Podcast as a file - complete with its faults. The faulty file will be replaced, by the producer, when they realise there is a problem. It would be their (the producer's) responsibility to remove the faulty file. And therein lies the problem. If they do not remove the faulty file, iTunes and your iPod have to cope as best as they can with what appears to be two copies of the same file, with the same name!
    Imagine twin people, both with the same name! No wonder the iPod plays both!
    The resolution lies with the Podcast's producers. As with all Podcasts, they are completely independent of iTunes and Apple. All iTunes does is look for new episodes of the programmes you tell it to look for and then go and fetch them from where ever the producer stores them. They are not in the iTunes Store.
    Write to the producer of the podcast to let them know of your experience. Of course, they may not care!
    Actually, having proofread my reply, it occurs to me that what may be happening is that your iTunes is downloading the faulty file as soon as it's available, and then downloading the second, correct version when that becomes available, because it simply sees a new Podcast, not a replacement. The answer still lies with the producer. Perhaps they do not realise what is happening. Once again, write to them and let them know. Quote me if you wish.
    I personally think it's unlikely that Apple will devote resources to fix someone else's errors. I wouldn't if it was my business.

  • Weird Apple Universal Dock Problems

    I have had my Apple Universal Dock for about a year and a half.  I have many problems with it now.  I have an iPhone 3GS and I use my dock to charge it every night.  I have the apple remote (white).
    Problems:
    1.Will not work with remote
    2.Says iPhone is Not Supported With This Accessory
    3.Cannot play music through iPhone speakers
    4.Cannot use Audio audio out port
    The only thing I can use this dock for is to charge my iPhone.  I paid $50 for this and I could of just got the iphone 3G dock and saved $30.  Has anybody else had these problems?  Will Apple replace it even though I have had it for over a year?  I have had these problems for a long time, but thought it was just my phone.  I have 3 of these docks in my house and yesterday I plugged my phone into one of them and all of the problems I had with my dock had not been there.  I guess i just have a lemon?  If anybody else has had this experience, please let me know.  I do not want to spend another $50 on a new dock.  Any replies would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Weird Laptop Wireless Connection Problem

    I have an HP DV6 6C16NR i7-2670QM laptop and am having a very annoying wireless internet connection problem.
    I'll connect fine to my home network, but if I restart and try to connect again, it won't. The only way to fix it, is if I change the channel on my router. And then it'll repeat itself.
    Any idea what's going on here? Must be some sort of proxy/memory type problem?
    Using Netgear WNDR3700 with only 2.4ghz enabled. Lots of other wireless devices in our home connects without any issues at all. ie. cellphones (4), wireless alarm clock, IP cams (2) and a netbook.
    Is this a hardware issue that I should warranty?

    Hello ThaiM69,
    I'm not sure if you have Windows 7 or 8.  Please take a look at this page and let me know if the troubleshooting steps help to resolve your connection issue.
    Good luck!

  • WEIRD Neo2 Power-on problem (no, not the same old thing)

    First post, go easy on me:
    My new Neo2 has what seems (at first glance) to be one of the most common problems I've read about here and on other forums: After windows shutdown, the machine will not power on at all using the front power switch.  To get power, I have to clear the CMOS, and then the machine comes on and boots perfectly as soon as power is applied (without pressing front power button).  I've tried the 4xHt setting as suggested here and elsewhere, no joy.  I have not updated my BIOS from 1.4 stock yet, but will be soon due to voltage needs(prolly to 1.37mod).
      Anyway, in researching this problem, I've come across something strange that may be helpful to others.  When checking my front panel connections on the MB, I noticed that there is only one "Power switch" connector on the MB.  I'm referring to the 2 prongs that the power switch lead connects to.....I only have one prong.  the positive prong seems to be missing (the one with the white "+" at the base).  This isn't normal is it?  The machine is rock solid, even OC'd,other than this one issue.
    Having said all that, I have 2 main questions.
    1. Would this missing prong produce the symptom I'm having?  After all, the power switch seems to just not work at all.  If it weren't for the little "glitch" with some Neo2's where the machine comes on when power is applied, I dont think I would ever have gotten this thing to power up.  Ironic huh?
    2. Assuming question 1 is a yes, can I fix this?  I refuse to RMA this board, as it's overclocking very well so far, and judging by the low voltages used so far, I'm not even close to maxing it out yet.
    Any help or insight appreciated.  Thanks.
    P.S it may be worth mentioning that others with similar problems might want to verify the integrity of both prongs with a voltmeter.

    It certainly is not normal for one of the two power pins to be missing from the MB.  However, all that connector does is to allow the  front panel button to start (and stop) sending operating power to the MB.  It has no affect on performace of the MB if you power it on some other way (i.e, by clearing CMOS).  I would guess that MSI purposely allowed the fans to come on when starting up the system for the first time (or after CMOS clearing) to let the user know what that the MB is not "dead".  I assume you are not able to power the system off with the front panel power swich or restart it after you shut down Windows.  Neither of these should work if the power switch connector is not correctly connected.
    As mentioned above, it is a rather simple job to have a qualified technician replace the pin, assuming the connection below the pin is in good shape.  But I would only trust a compter technician to do the job, and then only after he tells me that he has done it before.  Otherwise, I think your only option is to RMA the board.
    Good luck.
