Weird line on desktop everytime I exit safari or other program...

Hiii,
I have this problem every since I upgraded to Yosemite, I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem? It happens overtime I exit safari or any other program...

Hey there Aesthas,
If you are still getting the odd bar just above the Dock, I would next reset your PRAM, and then test it out again:
Reset your computer’s PRAM - Mac Help
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
Important: To print these instructions, click the Share button in the Help window, then choose Print.
Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
After resetting your computer’s PRAM, you may need to update your speaker volume, display resolution, and startup disk preferences. For more information about PRAM, see the Apple Support article About NVRAM and PRAM.
If the issue persists, next I would boot to Safe Mode to see if , then restart and test again:
Start up in safe mode - Mac Help
Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key.
You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
To leave safe mode, restart your Mac again, but don’t hold down any keys during startup.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,
Sterling

What does that mean? I suggested you have a problem with your ISP and/or internet service. Have you checked those out?

  • Weird lines appearing around type in my Safari browser.

I've tried searching for this online but can't seemed to find an answer, I recently bought a macbook air and have noticed that on some websites there are these wierd outlines around type (usually large type) I'm pretty sure it can't be to do with the website and is more likely a problem with the browser. Has anyone else has this problem? I've attached an image of some typography in a site I was on today and you can see around the 'e' and the '9' where the problem is.

    Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
Resetting PRAM helps to resolve resolution issues.
If this does not help, contact Apple.
    Best.

  • Safari and other programs crashing constantly

Just picked my Macbook Pro from repair at the Apple Store.
I had the logic board replced and the top case due to water damage.
Laptop has always worked fine, unitl then.  I've got it home this afternoon and Safari, iTunes etc. all quit instantly or a few moments after opening.
I tried fixing this by updating OS X to Moutain Lion 10.8.3, but no luck.  Everything is up-to-date etc.
Help is much appreciated.  I hope I've not wasted money on this repair that could have gone towards a new machine.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Safari Among other programs slow down!

I need help, my machine is brand-spanking new, and I am experiencing severe slow down. Safari seems to freeze up my entire computer for a couple minutes before loading up the home page. Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Don't confuse Leopard's aggressive memory management with wasted resources, the Free Memory number is somewhat misleading. The only memory that isn't truly available for other applications to use is the Wired and Active, everything else is truly up for grabs. Inactive memory is stuff that has been cached back to disk but is staged for additional use. If another app needs that memory it will give it up, if not it generally acts as a very fast buffer for frequently used apps and files (very basic description).
The memory amount you are really using can be derived for totaling Wired Memory and Active Memory, consider the other numbers as slack and the Free Memory number can often appear a little low. All *nix based OSs use a similar algorithm, but OS level file system caching is a good thing.
I ran the iMac in my profile for a week on 1GB or RAM and it was buttery smooth; on the 2nd week I added the 2nd stick of RAM and it is clearly using more RAM than before. But if you compare the Active/Wired numbers they really haven't changed, it's all about caching.
Now if you have already investigated this avenue and you are sure that caching isn't the culprit, I'd take a look at installed software as something appears to be leaking memory.

when i hit space bar safari or programs that accepts space bar for scrolling, twice as much as one hit happens. touch space but n twice scrolling happens. not sure why this is happening any help please? 1.42 ghz powerpc g4 512 mb built in

Hi, Natasha. Welcome to the Discussions.
    1. Check the settings in the System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard tab. You might try setting a slower the Key Repeat Rate or a longer Delay Until Repeat.
    2. If you're using an external keyboard with your iBook, try a different keyboard.
    3. If the Space Bar is sticking in other uses, e.g. normal typing, there may be a problem with the keyboard itself.
    4. What changes did you make to your Mac before this problem arose? If the problem arose after making a change, it's possible the change is the cause.
    Good luck!

  • Scrolling doubles over in Safari and other programs

About a week or so ago, the page started overlapping itself when I scroll up or down in an application. I don't know why. I also don't know when it started happening, but I don't think I've really installed anything strange in the last few weeks.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

This is still happening. Here are some examples.

  • Everytime I open Safari on my MacBook Pro a pop-up window from my Finder menu, with the Applications highlighted on the left in the favorites column with the Resources folder highlighted comes up and locks my Safari page until I manually close the Resourc

Everytime I open Safari on my MacBook Pro a pop-up window from my Finder menu, with the Applications highlighted on the left in the favorites column with the Resources folder highlighted comes up and locks my Safari page until I manually close the Resources window then I have to refresh the internet search address line at the top of Safari. Can someone tell me how to stop this. It started after a software upgrade. It didn’t do that before. Thank you.

A few thoughts for diagnosis/testing purposes:
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? If not do so.
Boot into the Safe mode - hold down shift key on boot - and see if the problems are still there. Some functions won't work but see if anything odd happens.
Check your startup items. Get rid of them temporarily.
Create a new user account and see if the problems occur with the new account.
Lastly, be sure your backup is up-to-date.

  • Imac shows super weird lines on screen during start up and then freezes at blue screen (WITH PHOTO)

My Imac froze earlier today as I was dragging an image from safari into indesig and when it froze the weirdest pattern overlaid the screen. It looked just like the opacity pattern from photoshop with grey and white squares. I turned the computer off using the power button and unplugged everything.
Now when I try to start it these weird lines appear on my start up screen (see link)...
    http://meijerladdaruppgrejer.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/oops/
as you can see the apple and the wheel appears as normal...
... then it moves to a normal looking white screen (perhaps a bit greener than usual) and around 30 seconds later freezes at the blue screen.
    I've tried the cmd + alt + p + r several times but it won't help.
If i press alt during start up I can see and choose my hard drive but just end up at the blue screen again.
Can I try starting it up in safe mode or something?
    Thanks! Any input is welcome.

Is this the same problem? Verical Lines" seems a bit diffuse. I've seached for a similar question and found a lot of other types of lines and stripes.
    Could this be a solution?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3824?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If so, how do I install the update if I can't get passed the blue screen? Can I start my Imac in safe mode? How?
iMac (Mid 2011): Unresponsive white screen on startup or vertical lines on screen
    Symptoms
In certain circumstances, your iMac (Mid 2011) may become unresponsive on startup, with a white or gray background on the display. You may also notice vertical lines on the display while using your iMac.
    Resolution
Install the iMac Graphics Firmware Update 2.0 if your computer exhibits these issues. To install the update, chooseSoftware Update from the Apple () menu and follow the onscreen instructions.
Important: Do not interrupt the power to the computer while the update is installing. After the update is finished installing, you will need to restart your iMac.

  • Everytime I open Safari or Mail, they crash at launch and return me to the Springboard. Anyone know how to help?

I uninstalled "Rocky Racoon" in Cydia so that I could unjailbreak my iPod Touch, since it was slow and kept freezing. It runs fine, since I deleted all of the packages I installed myself first (to make sure there was no permanent damage). The only problem is that now, everytime I open Safari or Mail, they immediately crash and send me back to the homescreen. I've downloaded the Google Chrome app as a replacement for now, but I find Safari much more convenient. Anyone know how to fix this?

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Purchase/install any new app
    - iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • Weird Lines during Playback??

I just got a 2.4 MBP with 4 gigs of Ram, and Final Cut Studio 2 Full Version. I shot some footage for a class project with my DVX-100a on the 30p recording setting. I captured the footage and started going through it and noticed these weird lines, I want to call them scan lines but I dont know if that is the proper term. The lines are transparent but distort the video where they are. I tried a test to see if they would still be there when I exported a Quicktime Movie, and oddly enough they weren't there...
Is it becuase one of my settings is off? This is very annoying, any help is greatly appreciated and THANK YOU in advance!

I've always disliked tapes as a moving part that could break, and understand there are advantages in terms of the codec used when storing data on a flash or hd based medium.< </div>
if they're so hard to describe, and you're sitting in front of them, how do you think we're going to figure out what they are?

  • T60p 2613-H9U No Screen on boot Just weird lines...

    Hey guys,
I'm REALLY stumped. I installed a new screen purchesed off eBay almost a year ago. The screen works but for some reason it will not show any of the boot logos or anything until I hit windows login. It shows the "THINKPAD" screen right away and then just weird lines or blank.
The real problem is now my computer is fubar and I need to reformat but in order to do this I need pre-boot support. I tried installing windows on the drive attached another computer and then swapping but when I plug it into the thinkpad it just keeps boot "cycling" or boots over and over before loading windows.
I have also tried plugging in an external monitor with no luck. Same problems.
Any advice or help on how I can fix this screen and reformat would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Scott

Can you explain a bit more? The GPU is the gfx accelerator, there is no separate 2D/3D graphics card like in the old days.

  • Just downloaded Lion to my iMac, cant exit Safari since.

Lion is working good so far but vant seem to exit Safari, wondering if this is normal as my first reaction was a virus holding my connection.

Don't turn off the computer. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on Safari's Dock icon and select Force Quit from the context menu. If that doesn't kill Safari then:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  Select Safari's item in the processes list then click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button.
Navigate in the Finder to the /Home/Library/Caches/ folder and delete the two folders with com.apple.safari in their names. Re-open Safari and see if that now fixes the problem.
