Weird lines ...

Hello everyone, as this is my first post I do not believe I can post a  new thread.. I
am having a problem in Premiere CS3. I have  captured the video off of a dv tape.  The .avi plays fine... when it is  imported into premiere or after effects and i scrubb across the timeline  the verticle/horozontal lines appear.  Even after rendering/exporting  the movie it has the lines.  They are at similar places but no pattern  that I can see.
PLEASE  HELP!!!
ps I am using cs3

The .avi plays fine...
Doesn't mean anything. The human eye is too slow to detect flaws when a clip is playing at a high enough frame rate. The blips could already be there. In addition, Premiere scales the preview, which could also make them disappear. most likely these are real hard errors that are eitehr already on the tape or were introduced during capture. You may be able to circumvent one by running the capture again, making sure your drive is fast enough, but if it's on the tape, then it's a pointless exercise. If the issues do not appear in otehr programs, simply consider a conversion to a Quicktime file with Animation and work with that in AE.

  • Weird Lines during Playback??

I just got a 2.4 MBP with 4 gigs of Ram, and Final Cut Studio 2 Full Version. I shot some footage for a class project with my DVX-100a on the 30p recording setting. I captured the footage and started going through it and noticed these weird lines, I want to call them scan lines but I dont know if that is the proper term. The lines are transparent but distort the video where they are. I tried a test to see if they would still be there when I exported a Quicktime Movie, and oddly enough they weren't there...
Is it becuase one of my settings is off? This is very annoying, any help is greatly appreciated and THANK YOU in advance!

I've always disliked tapes as a moving part that could break, and understand there are advantages in terms of the codec used when storing data on a flash or hd based medium.< </div>
if they're so hard to describe, and you're sitting in front of them, how do you think we're going to figure out what they are?

  • T60p 2613-H9U No Screen on boot Just weird lines...

    Hey guys,
I'm REALLY stumped. I installed a new screen purchesed off eBay almost a year ago. The screen works but for some reason it will not show any of the boot logos or anything until I hit windows login. It shows the "THINKPAD" screen right away and then just weird lines or blank.
The real problem is now my computer is fubar and I need to reformat but in order to do this I need pre-boot support. I tried installing windows on the drive attached another computer and then swapping but when I plug it into the thinkpad it just keeps boot "cycling" or boots over and over before loading windows.
I have also tried plugging in an external monitor with no luck. Same problems.
Any advice or help on how I can fix this screen and reformat would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Scott

Can you explain a bit more? The GPU is the gfx accelerator, there is no separate 2D/3D graphics card like in the old days.

  • Imac shows super weird lines on screen during start up and then freezes at blue screen (WITH PHOTO)

My Imac froze earlier today as I was dragging an image from safari into indesig and when it froze the weirdest pattern overlaid the screen. It looked just like the opacity pattern from photoshop with grey and white squares. I turned the computer off using the power button and unplugged everything.
Now when I try to start it these weird lines appear on my start up screen (see link)...
    http://meijerladdaruppgrejer.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/oops/
as you can see the apple and the wheel appears as normal...
... then it moves to a normal looking white screen (perhaps a bit greener than usual) and around 30 seconds later freezes at the blue screen.
    I've tried the cmd + alt + p + r several times but it won't help.
If i press alt during start up I can see and choose my hard drive but just end up at the blue screen again.
Can I try starting it up in safe mode or something?
    Thanks! Any input is welcome.

Is this the same problem? Verical Lines" seems a bit diffuse. I've seached for a similar question and found a lot of other types of lines and stripes.
    Could this be a solution?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3824?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If so, how do I install the update if I can't get passed the blue screen? Can I start my Imac in safe mode? How?
iMac (Mid 2011): Unresponsive white screen on startup or vertical lines on screen
    Symptoms
In certain circumstances, your iMac (Mid 2011) may become unresponsive on startup, with a white or gray background on the display. You may also notice vertical lines on the display while using your iMac.
    Resolution
Install the iMac Graphics Firmware Update 2.0 if your computer exhibits these issues. To install the update, chooseSoftware Update from the Apple () menu and follow the onscreen instructions.
Important: Do not interrupt the power to the computer while the update is installing. After the update is finished installing, you will need to restart your iMac.

when i'm editing my video in the timeline it looks perfect, but when i save the video and replay it on quicktime it has these weird lines? does anyone know how to fix that?

    As Tom states, that's interlacing.
Interlacing was invented when the TV was born, to carry 1/5 the frame with each Hz of the electricity rating. In the US, that's why you use 30 fps (or 29.nnn) in the US and we use 25 fps in europe as the electricity is 60Hz/50Hz.
Interlaced video should ONLY (I repeat ONLY) be used for analog TV signal transports.
Each and every digital TV set today, including all the computer screens, is Progressive, updating the full frame at each screen refresh. And most TV's even refresh much quicker, newest TV's refresh a 800Hz..! (giving then problems with the newest LTE spectums..)
If your source media in interlaced, ask why! And stop shooting interlaced.. ;-)
If you have interlaced video, make sure you apply the DeInterlace setting when you import and transcode it.

  • Weird lines appear in textboxes. Why? Anyway to fix this?

These weird lines come up whenever I type things in the address bar, search bar, or any textbox in a website. They're kind of annoying & I want to know if there is a way to get rid of them.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • Weird lines follow mouse cursor... (PICS)

I have a iMac 2.4Ghz and it has weird lines that follow the mouse cursor at all times. Does anybody have suggestions as of what it could be? Computer is out of warranty.
    Here's a pic.
    http://tinypic.com/r/5bryap/3

Before concluding it is hardware related (which is possible), I would start up from a different system (such as your Mac OS X installation disc). If that makes the problem go away, you can try to further isolate the cause by booting normally and creating a new admin user account using System Preferences Accounts pane.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, do you see this problem. Since the new account uses default user preference settings (and does not have any third-party background processes), if the problem goes away, there must be something in your normal user account that is the cause.
Actually, before you do anything else, if you have not done so already, you should do the general trouble-shooting +first steps+, reset PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and run +Repair Disk Permissions+ in Disk Utility.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
This can also be a problem with the font that is used to display the text.<br />
You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for selected text.

  • ITunes has weird lines all over the screen, then crashes.

Installed iTunes 8.0.1 and it's got the same configuration troubles. It happened when I installed iTunes 8 but I just did the whole regedit solution and changed permissions. Have tried doing that for 8.0.1 and I can change all the permissions the right way but it still does not fix the problem. Have also tried finding and replacing the iTunes.exe in Program Files but either I'm blind or it's just not there because I can't find it anywhere. The only way I can get into iTunes is by plugging my iPod in, it opens iTunes without prompting a restart of the computer. However, this lasts between 10-15 minutes before the interface just changes, it gets lines where the columns are and all the album artwork in the Genius sidebar is replaced with 'Cannot Find' symbols. At this point iTunes crashes and I have to close it and plug my iPod in again to get it to come back up. What in the blue **** is going on?

    Bump!
I'm also seeing some weird lines across the screen before itunes crashes. It happens after an hour or so of using itunes. I'm using Vista with iTunes v8.0.2.20. Any suggestions? Could it be the size of the library (~65,000)?

  • Weird lines with drawing tablet?

Hey guys! I just bought a new drawing tablet to use with Flash. It works amazing in general, but when I tap on the screen I just get these weird... lines? It works fine with my mouse.
    How do I solve this?

Sorry, Tom! I really appreciate your help and i am not meaning to be flippant. I am using the Best Quality, 90 minutes, and i don't mess with any of the presets.
I'm exporting to Compressor like so: When i'm in final cut i go to file > export > send to compressor.
Sorry, i'm still a bit new to compressor! thanks!

  • Weird lines/dots around cursor

My old Mac Pro - 2x2.66 Xeon, 4gb memory, 3x500gb disks, uses external Apple monitor 20" or so - has been acting weirdly. Was getting stuck at grey screen when starting up.
We went through all the Gray screen appears during startup troubleshooting: removed peripherals - no luck; tried safe mode - no luck; reset PRAM/NVRam - no luck; wiggle all the cables - no luck; tried safe mode again and it booted but there was a very odd pattern around the cursor:
Photo should be visible at this link
The dots and lines in the square varied considerably from few to many in an apparently random pattern - this makes me think video RAM is possible broken? The machine won't boot into hardware test mode so I'm not sure how to test this hypothesis though.
I know it's fairly old and very well used, but financially replacing it right now would be über-difficult so I'd be really happy if it'd last just another year ... any suggestions??
    Ricky

There is no Archive & Install option in Snow Leopard. Start with downloading and installing the 10.6.2 COMBO update. If that doesn't fix it, reinstall SL and see if that fixes things. If not, hie thee back to the store. BTW, reinstalling isn't drastic or destructive.

  • Weird Lines through Video when playing

    Hello,
I was importing video from Canon HF10. It was in 1080i60. When I imported it all in with HD settings in Final Cut the video appears to play with lines running though it when something is moving. I played same video on Quick Time and its the same. I think I shot in weird setting or imported in weird setting, but all was set on Normal and Usual Setting. Anyone knows why video plays with lines though it?

From the way you describe it, it sounds like you are seeing the interlacing of the images. Which of course makes sense given that you shot at 1080i.
Computer monitors are not made to handle the interlaced images. But if you were to watch the image back say on a Television, you should not see those edges.
Anyone can jump in and correct me if I am wrong.

  • Macbook pro 15" retina, display flickers, weird lines follow cursor

Just got this MacBook Pro on Christmas... Installed Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator today. Later in the day the display became very discolored; vertical and horizontal "shaded" lines follow the cursor, areas above open windows are discolored (lighter), and the screen flickers when typing. I did the software update and have restarted the system, but it is still having issues. Does anyone know of a fix, short of getting into an Apple Store or scheduling a call with Apple?
    Thanks!!
    Maggi and Joe

Nope - it sounds as if you've GPU issues and the discrete GPU is soldered onto the logic board. take your new machine into your local Apple Store for a replacement. Don't wait too long!

  • Weird Line Spacing Issue in Mail App and iChat

All of the sudden, all of the lines of text in my mail app and ichat are all bunched up. It's impossible to read the content. Maybe my baby son pressed something but the font is tiny and illegible. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

    Hello Darryn,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your Mac. If you are seeing an unusual bunching or overlapping of text in multiple applications, it can often be due to a font issue.
