Weird MAC on DHCP 31202e3235332e302e part 2

I am having this same issue.  The DHCP server is running out of addresses.  There are a bunch of addresses with the bogus MAC address up top in the title.  These bogus MAC addresses simply translate to the IP addresses they are taking as well,
so they are not MAC addresses.  Therefore you cannot search by switch to locate the device.  Tried Wireshark.   Started a session, then deleted the bogus addresses from DHCP server.  Waited a bit, then reconciled DHCP server.
Bogus addresses all came back.  Stopped Wireshark session.  Looked at all the DHCP data, and none of the bogus ip addresses even show in Wireshark.
This is bizarre.  It is like the addresses are not really gone, but my DHCP lease table is full.

Hi,
Please check the detailed information of the DHCP packet.
There should be some MAC addresses sending a lot of DHCP Discover or DHCP Request packets.
Please try to add these MAC addresses into the deny list. Then make these clients offline.
If the source MAC address of these packets is fake, please try to find where does these packet come from? For detailed information about how to trace a fake packet, please consult with the vendor of the network equipment.
Best Regards.

i'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

What is the source & link to this 8 GB kit please?
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • Why can I not print multiple files to one sheet and create a PDF of that format via Print dialogue on Mac? Very important part of workflow!!!!

Try this if you use mac.
Create a multiple page PDF. Three pages.
Go to print.  - Multiple pages per sheet so that you see all three pages on your sheet to be printed.
At this point, on a windows machine, you can print this as a PDF.  On Mac, it only lets you save as PDF (Not with the format selected).
WHY has this functionality been removed from the Mac version of Acrobat XI??? Adobe?

    Jon,
Unfortunately, Rave's response is quite incorrect on two major points.
The Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance was indeed part of the Macintosh version of Acrobat Pro until a few years ago.
However, it was NOT Adobe that killed the feature. Apple did! In one of the MacOS updates, Apple fully removed the capability that Adobe had to support this virtual printer. There was nothing that Adobe could do about this, regrettably. Adobe didn't cripple anything. Complain to Apple!
However, Adobe does provide a replacement for it that will yield similar results, but it is not available in Acrobat or Adobe Reader!!! In most applications' print dialogs (such as Word) - which printer you select is irrelevant, click on the PDF button and select the Save as Adobe PDF option. This will save your document as a PDF file with Adobe technology. But again, this is not available from with Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
However, you should note that the process that you previously followed and you would like to continue to use is commonly referred to as “refrying a PDF” and is strongly discouraged even where it continues to work under Windows. Why? The print function of Adobe applications including Acrobat and Reader is optimized for PostScript for printing, not for creation of PDF. Resultant PDF files have lost any transparency (it has been flattened) and all color management has been lost.
What you are really trying to do is to create a pre-imposed PDF file from an existing PDF file. Going through PostScript was and still is a very bad idea.
There are some third party plug-ins to Acrobat, such as Quite Imposing (Quite Software, <http://www.quite.com>) and PDF Snake (<http://www.pdfsnake.com>) as well as some “free” (you get what you pay for) solutions you can look up on the web that can do PDF imposition without ruining your PDF via PostScript.
    Hopefully this can assist you.

  • Weird MAC Crash; anyone who can decipher the log for me?

My Macbook Pro (mid 2009) with a recently clean installed Mountain Lion experienced a weird crash. I have never had one like this: suddenly the screen turns white and informs that the computer has been restarted due to a problem. As I restart, the log below pops up.
I had several software running behind: Safari 6.0.2, VLC media player, Microsoft Mac Outlook, Soulseek Mac, and Text Edit.
I have no idea how to decipher this or where to identify the problem. Is it a virus? (I have firewall ON) Or worse: is my hard disk dying?
Any help in troubleshooting this appreciated!!
    Many thanks!!

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If it's happened only once, and is not repeated in at least a few thousand hours of use, a reasonable choice would be to ignore it. Machines don't work perfectly. They never will.
If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are (1) a damaged OS X installation; (2) a fault in a peripheral device, if any; (3) an internal hardware fault; and (4) an obscure bug in OS X.
You can rule out the first two possibilities by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
If you've recently upgraded the memory, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts on the memory modules when handling them. If necessary, clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol.
The Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Router reports garbage characters for Mac's DHCP client hostname

I've got a Linksys wifi router giving nice wireless access to my 17" powerbook (OSX 10.3.9). But when I look at the DHCP active IP table, this one (and another Mac I have on the network) both show up with garbage characters on the "client hostname" even though I have the "DHCP client Id" field filled in in the Network, TCP/IP system preference pane. How do I get the router to see my client's name?
    Mike

Might help if you told us what the "garbage" was. It
might help indentify what it relates to because it's
highly unlikely to be truly random. It's more likely
to be based on the client's MAC address.
    ok. It is, exactly: ¸#Єª
In any case, DHCP client ID and hostname are not
related, so you might be out of luck depending on
    what the Linksys is doing.
ah! Sorry - I thought that's what it wanted. So, where on my machine do I set the client hostname? Where does a router grab this info from? I've got a PC connected to this thing which does report its name correctly.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • How to collect intranet user's MAC address from web part on document library

I need the best solution for the following problem:
Let's say for an intranet application just to do customization through a web part on a document library we need to collect MAC address of all user's machine who tries to access the particular document library.
main point to achieve is we want to give access only to few users to a particular document library. I think if we get unique mac address then also purpose can be solved. Is there any other way apart from mac?
In SharePoint 2013 on premise application what is the best way to do this customization? early reply is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Why do you need this?  SharePoint runs on top of ASP.NET so its limited to what ASP.NET can do.  A quick google returns results like:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/303612/How-to-get-Mac-Address-of-Client-Machine-in-asp-ne
It's highly unlikely you can achieve this, back to my first question - why?  Maybe you can achieve the requirement in a more supportable manner.  I'm assuming you want to track the user.
    Thanks

  • Mac refusing DHCP from Netgear Router

Can anyone give me some pointers on troubleshooting why my MAC won't use DHCP wirelessly from the router ? Windows laptop all good, DHCP all good. If a assign IP manually on Mac i can connect.
I'm also having issues after restarting the MAC, i can't join internet or network it allways times out, after some fiddling & network diags it works again consistently for a while.

wrong word to use then "refusing" fails to obtain & retain a DHCP address would be more accurate.
I changed the channel last night & it made no difference, Assigning the IP statically provides me a work around but isn't ideal.
I've also tried the laptop on another netgear wireless router & it behaves as it should maybe there's something unique with the rangemax that it doesn't like as it seems fine using a DSG834GT model.
Worth mentioning that renewing IP via DHCP obviously keeps the IP previously assigned but doesn't show any subnet mask or default gateway.

  • Please help me! - really weird mac mini display problem.

Ok this is just too WEIRD.
i have a brand new 1.42ghz mini (512mb ram and wireless) with a sony SDM-HS75 LCD. This is an analogue LCD and im using the supplied apple VGA adaptor.
•before i continue i will say that i have hooked up the lcd to numerous other macs and the screen and cable are fine. i have no dimmer switches on my lighting, i have no objects placed on the mini (like a cell phone etc)
when i first set up my mini the video output was murky and grey and noisy across the screen. Then i discovered the setup utility on the CD that came with the sony screen. i ran it (it displays a grid calibration thing) and discovered the "phase" adjustment on the sony's on screen menu. i managed to adjust out the fuziness and noise and the image quality was then perfect.
heres where it gets weird. the point at which the monitor is in phase with the video signal shifts around all the time! i mean - i get the phase set at say 43 out of 100 on the adjustment scale and the next time i restart i need to shift it to 73 to get rid of the blur and the noise on the display.
Also, the using airport affects the display and knocks it out of phase - i dont use wireless but if i activate it i can see a difference instantly.
this is really strange and i cant see a solution.

Is this a new-ish LCD? Many newer LCDs will have an auto adjust option or button to set the phase and fine tuning for you so you don't have to do it yourself.

  • Mac and Windows AD (part 1 of many)

    Hello,
Working on a project to connect 5 macs with OS X (10.4.3)workstation to a Windows Server and allow them to use Active Directory services, especially for user authentication.
Can this be accomplished without Mac OS X Server or do I have to incorporate a OS X server for this to happen?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use single-sign on. However, if their "short name" was the same on the local machine as it is on Active Directory, you'll need to move their home folder in /Users, otherwise OS X will use the local account over the Active Directory account.

  • How setup mac as dhcp?

I would like to directly connect my NAS to my mbp. I need osx to assign an IP address to it. How do you setup osx to be a dhcp server.

I believe all you need do is connect it directly to your Ethernet port. Open Network preferences and select the port. If an IP hasn't already been configured then just create a manual setup based on whatever IP addresses the NAS recognizes. I'd guess its manual should provide that information. I suppose you can configure the NAS for a specific network setup. Thus you have a basic ad hoc connection with no dedicated server involved.

  • Is Photoshop available for Mac?  Is it part of Office?

IS Photoshop available for Mac?  I am told I must have it to submit a book to Amazon's Create Space. Is Photoshop included in Office?

Photoshop is by Adobe, and is quite expensive.
You open and work with Photoshop files with Photoshop Elements, which is under $100.
    Also made by Adobe.
Do you're research on both over at the Adobe site.

  • WRT54G v6 fw v. 1.01 no IP assign on mac via DHCP

Hi i probe 2 routers LinkSys WRT54G v.6 and my mac's (ibook G4 1.33 + macbook pro 15' + powerbook G4 1.5 + mac mini intel core solo) has no automatic ip, i change an access point from EDIMAX (?) but i need to run my network with one router. i try to change the firmware but does'n work. any idea? thanks and please sorry my english.

I am having the same problem with my MacBook and iMac.  Since upgrading to the 1.01 firmware on my linksys WRT54G v5 router, neither computer can get an IP from the router.  I have to assign manually.  This was not the case with the 1.00.9 firmware where it worked fine.
I think there might be a bug for Mac users in this firmware update.  I am going to downgrade to the previous firmware and see if that fixes it...

  • I can not move the screen on Elements 11 on a MAC.  The top part of the application is cut off and I can't see the top row of photos.  I can attach a photo but I am not sure how to do that.   have OS 10.9

See the attached photo.  I have a photo open but I cannot see the top part of the application.  It will not let me scroll up.  I cannot move the application.  When I click on F3 I can see the full screen and can see the photo but as soon as I click anywhere it goes back to the cup off screen.

That's the organizer? Sorry, but the Grab menu is in front in your screenshot.
If so, go to your username>library>Application Support>Adobe/>Elements Organizer/11.0>organizer and delete status.dat.
BTW, just for future reference, you don't need to bother with Grab for general screenshots. Cmd+shift+3 captures the whole screen, cmd+shift+4 and drag to capture part of it. Here are some other shortcuts (article is for 10.8 but they're the same in 10.9)

  • WRT600N weird MAC Address issue

I've had the Linksys WRT600N for several months. One day the internet connection stopped working, after I power cycled it, I called support and they had me change the router to clone MAC address after that it worked. If I took off the cloned MAC the internet wouldnt work. So I got curious after that and I restored the router the settings file I had backed up previously. I tried my internet connection and everything worked. No clone MAC address, however, after about a month it stopped again. The issue was making sure clone mac address was on. My question is why does that keep happening there shouldnt be a reason that it would need my computers mac if my isp doesnt need me to do thaa. (ISP = Optimium) Has anyone had this problem or know what the cause is?

You have to tell what you did exactly if it did not work.
Generally: many ISPs (most cable ISPs) only grant you a single public IP address, i.e. a single device connected to their service. Most do this by storing the MAC address of the device connected to the modem. If you connect a different device with a different MAC address into the modem they won't accept it. You won't get an IP address. You don't have internet. Only the device with the MAC address stored (or a modified MAC address set to the stored MAC address) will have internet.
Some ISPs reset the stored MAC address if you call them. With a few ISPs this is the only option.
Most ISPs reset the MAC address after a few hours of inactivity or in fixed intervals.
Some ISPs recognize if you reset the modem and reset the MAC address then.
After it is reset you can connect a different device and it will get the IP address.
Now, if your internet at some point does not work and for a test you connect the computer directly to the modem and you get internet then, at that moment you already have locked in MAC address of the computer and you have to use the MAC address clone on the router.
Thus, if you need the MAC address clone or not depends on what you did when exactly after how much time of inactivity when the internet did not work anymore.

  • Weird mac non-start up issue

My Mac Pro crashed in After Effects yesterday. SInce then it will start up in WIndows7 under Boot Camp but won't run properly in OSX. I've swapped out the hard drive for another system drive but I get the Grey Screen of Death, that also happens when I try to boot from the System DVD. I've removed all PCI cards and external devices. Even with no hard disks in at all and just booting from DVD gets the hang screen. I tried PRAM and removed the battery but no joy.
Holding Alt at start up gives me four options.
    1 Current system
    2 Old System
    3 Install DVD
    4 Windows Boot Camp
They're all on separate internal drives.
1 Current system lets me login and gets as far as displaying the desktop then either jumps back to the login screen again or crashes to a blue screen and the spinning wheel
2 Old System gives me the Grey screen of death at the apple logo
3 Install DVD gives me the Grey screen of death at the apple logo.
    4 Windows boots fine
What's confusing is the that as Windows boots fine it can't be a hardware thing. But if it's a mac system software thing then surely the DVD should boot OK? And how come both system disks don't work suddenly and in different ways?

Your OS (I can't find OS minimim requirement) may not boot from DVD or any system that doesn't have drivers, and it may be it requires 10.6.5.
Did you ever boot before with this card and DVD or try with less than 10.6.4?
Still, you have another graphic card either installed or handy, so you can boot w/o the Q4000 installed.
The last SL DVD was only 10.6.3, only $25 @ Amazon if need be.
You / I never boot Disk Warrior from CD, doesn't have drivers, slow, would be an older OS build, etc. which should be v. 4.2+ also.
A couple people commented on Quadro 4000 performance in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12758519&
    CS5 5.03
Do you have ATI 5770 or 4870 alongside?
Does it work with just the Quadro?
