WEIRD MacPro softRAID problem HELP

MacPro RAID 0 problem I NEED HELP
I am having a weird RAID problem with our new MacPro 2.66, MacOS 10.4.8, 5GB RAM, 4 x 500GB RAID 0, 1.8 TB in internal bays configuration, drives have been formatted individually, and the RAID 0 have been created with Apple Disk Utility - original 250GB drive moved to the optical bay. In service for a week or so.
The RAID mount at start-up, can be open, and show the content. After 30 sec. I got a “bad device removal message“ and the RAID is gone.
We have more then 500GB of photos on it and NO BACK UP.
The problem first show up when I was writing DVD backup set with Toast 8 (yes, I was doing it) and I plugged a LaCie FireWire 800 drive in the front port. That drive is good and mounting on other Mac. Seem unrelated to me, I mention it just in case.
I checked the controler of the 4 x 500GB drive with TechTool Pro, test passed.
Disk utility, first aid, failed with the following report:
Verify and repair disk RAID Mattera
Can't open /dev/rdisk3: ressource busy
1 non HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of error.
Disk utility RAID tab is showing that the RAID is offline and that the 465.4 GB - RAID Slice (disk0s2) failed. The 3 others one are offline. As I cannot find a way to insert my snapshot I am reproducing what I can see on the left window.

What is not normal, in the left window, is the disk3 right under 1.8 TB RAID Mattera. Was not there before if I recall correctly.
More, as far as I can recall, my RAID set was made of 465.4 GB - RAID Slice (disk1s2) (disk2s2) (disk3s2) (disk4s2).
The RAID had consecutive number when created, disk1s2 to disk4s2.
There was no Slice by the name of (disk0s2) in it.
The problem seem to be there as Disk utility, first aid report state:
Can't open /dev/rdisk3: ressource busy
Does the RAID setup is in PRAM? Is there a corrupted preference file, visible or invisible that can be removed.
I am lost with that problem. I need an expert advise.
I would appreciate greatly any help on this one. I cannot loose the content of the RAID.

I have seen the exact same problem happen twice now on my Mac Pro. Here is the configuration:
Mac Pro 3 GHz, 8 GB Apple RAM, nVidia FX 4500
5 internal SATA drives (all WD1500ADFD) one drive (optical bay) is used for system, 4 others are used in Apple RAID 0 (stripe) for data.
Two of the RAID failures happened while my backup software was running a backup script (Personal Backup X4) that clones the RAID to external fw800 drive. These failures reported the following in the system log:
kernel[0]: AppleRAID::completeRAIDRequest - error 0xe0030005 detected for set "Stripe" (0D6F397D-04AB-4D12-A634-73E668D9B6F4), member 8EE005C9-1F88-424E-896D-7600B54A3B05, set byte offset = 120291328.
Jan 29 09:33:59 MacPro kernel[0]: disk3: 0xe0030005 (UNDEFINED).
These failures were unrecoverable (tried using both DU and DW4) and required the RAID volume to be destroyed. Once taking the disks out of the RAID, all drives passed both the Apple Hardware tests, DW tests, and TechTool Pro tests. I then re-created the RAID stripe with the same 4 drives, and restored data to the volume. The RAID volume then performed without error for 34 days, after which time the exact same problem occured.
I've also had two other RAID failures that didn't require the RAID volume to be destroyed; upon re-boot, the journal was able to repair the data. These two failured happend when logging into an Parallels XP VM that was running from the RAID.
The two hard-crash failures that happened during the backup routine (where the RAID had to be destroyed) failed during the backup of the Parallels hdd file (corrupting it). I have posted in the Parallels forums without any helpful responses (and emailed their support team, but we all know how useless that is!). My backup software vendor (Intego) has responded quicky to my support requests, but tell me that it's a hardware problem, and not their software.
Apple doens't provide any technical support for RAID unless you purchase an Advanced Enterprise support plan (or something similarly named).
The S.M.A.R.T. status of these drives are checked daily (DW4), and have never reported an error.
After both hard-failures, all disks have passed all the diagnostics that I have run. What are the chances that this is indeed a hardware failure??? I have been able to recreate the RAID after both failures, and continue to use it without problems for many weeks (actually, exactly 34 days each time) - writing significant amounts of data to the RAID volume (~60% full) without having any kinds of problems.
There seems to something here that is affecting all of us, and it seems that all that we're going to get for support is 'finger-pointing' and "don't use raid" responses.
During one of the DW repair attempts, I saw an error that read something like "invalid sibling link" on the RAID...
Here's hoping that someone can get to the bottom of this - I'm tired of re-creating the RAID and restoring my data.

    Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
    If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
    You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • IPad syncing problem - HELP!

    iPad sync problem - HELP!  I keep getting this message "...cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional ...space needed)"  and yet I seem to have plenty of space on the iPad.  This just started today.  I even tried deleting some things to make even more room, but it didn't help.  Any ideas??? 
    I was thinking of restoring, but I've never done it...  should I?

    Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
    My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
    This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from. 
    With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

    I had the same issue and I'm running Windows 7.  Tried working with technical support for several hours but they were no help.  They just had me doing the same things over and over, offering no real answers.  I finally got fed up and have decided to return my product for a full refund.

    Warranty is valid only in country of original purchase. You have to return
    the iPhone to the US for evaluation. Either you return it personally or send
    it to a friend/relative/co-worker in the US to take into Apple. Apple will not
    accept international shipments for evaluation nor will Apple ship out of the
    country after repair/replacement.
    Have you tried the standard trouble shooting steps: restart, restore, restore
    as new iPhone?

  • Please help me.. weird sound card problem

    Ok, so i have a Tascam us 122l. I downloaded the official drivers for leopard, then updated the firmware. However, when i play flash videos the video content lags; it pauses for around a second and then starts right back up. This repeats itself through the entirety of the video, although the audio doesnt lag.
    Weird thing is, when i switch to my internal soundcard the problem stops.
    Whats happening here? Please help me!

    It sounds like an IRQ conflict.  Make sure you diable the primary and secondary channels for the IDE ports to free up the IRQ resources for the SCSI drives.  If you are using a separate SCSI controller, make sure it is in the proper PCI slot and does not share IRQ's with other cards.

  • Weird problem- help!

    Here's what happened and what I know:
    Yesterday I was importing CDs into my Powerbook g4. I got it in August so it is fairly new. It got about halfway through the fourth CD and seemed to stall, I left it alone thinking it was just taking longer than usual, and when I checked it again it was in the same place, the rainbow mouse spinning, the computer unresponsive. Not knowing what else to do, I rebooted and ejected the CD. But ever since, a weird thing has been happening. When I start my computer the apple appears, and the little icon saying it's loading appears. The screen then turns blue, with another loading icon. Then a black screen appears, with white text. It says something like "Darwin (zoe*****powerbookg4.loc) (console)" then it says under that "Login:" and has a prompt flashing. I can log into it using my username and password, but can't seem to get it to start up normally. I have looked through my manual and this website and have tried what seems like everything. I used the hardware test and I used Disk Utility by using my OSX install CD. When I tried to Verify and Repair under the disk utility program, it gave me the error message that: The underlying task reported failure on exit. And when I used the verify option, it came up with the info that "HFS Volume Checked. Volume needs repair."
    But it can't repair it. Nothing has worked. My phone support is expired so they wouldn't help me, and there are no mac dealers in my immediate area. Has anyone else run into this problem ever, and if so how did you fix it? Any help at all is welcome. I'm a student and my computer is very important to the whole homework-getting-done deal.

    You can't run a disk repair on the currently booted disk. So, take your OS disk, insert it, hold option after you hit the power button, and select the OS install option. In the menu at the top of the screen there should be something like "utilities." In that menu, you will find the disk utility. By running it from the disk drive you will be able to repair the hard drive.
    Also, you may want to consider doing a system test, another option of booting from the DVDs that came with your computer. This will often times let you know what's wrong with your computer. Good luck!

  • Weird Problem- Help With Logic Loops

    Hi all,
    I've been using Logic Express 8 for about 2 years and I've got a pretty good handle on things. However I keep having this small little problem and usually restarting the software fixes it, but not this time.
    My problem is this: I'm trying to make some beats using software instruments. So I click on "Drums and Percussion" then "Ultrabeat" then choose my drum kit. I start punching in my beats but Logic is playing some Apple Loop on top of it! Theres no notes on the track and yet it still plays this random beat! I can adjust the tempo and the beat adjusts to it.
    The problem is there is nothing there. Its a blank track, but this beat keeps playing.
    I used to just restart the program when it happened and it usually took care of it, however it won't fix it this time.
    I know it's probably some check box I don't have clicked or something but if someone could help me out, I'd be very appreciative.

  • JFileChooser weird problem (Help!!!)

    Does anyone here have loading problem with JFileChooser?
    I have a class that inherited the JFileChooser class and another class that inherited the JFrame class and this class create an instance of the JFileChooser class.
    My program sometime will not show (but sometime will: no changes at all) and they are no exception being shown on the console window what so ever. I can solve my program by initializing the JFileChooser object after showing the application and not before but that stupid JFileChooser is so slow to initialize. What the hell is going on? Any help hint would be appreciated.

    I also want to add that the following code is in my JFileChooser class:
