Weird noise after locking

My phone is making this strange noise when I lock it, it starts off slowly and then speeds to a fluid buzzing, and it sounds very close to the noise a cicada makes. It is VERY loud.
It only started doing it today, and only when I lock my phone. Turning the lock tone off also turns off the buzzing, but I'm worried that something is still wrong with my phone! I don't have very many applications, I recently updated Facebook but that's it.
If anyone else has this problem, PLEASE let me know!

I got my new iPhone 4 on the day of the release here in Canada (July 30, 2010). I knew about the antenna problem but I was willing to put on a bumper case to resolve that issue. Anyway, several days after I got the phone, I experienced this very loud weird noise coming out of the speaker every time I either unlocked the phone or locked the phone. Yesterday I experienced the same issue, but this time I decided to record this noise on the Voice Memos application and guess what; as soon as I pressed the record button or the stop button, that same noise was being emitted.
The problems seem to be piling up and that could explain the shortage of phones here in Canada; perhaps they are resolving manufacture issues. I am ready to take this phone back because it seems like an unfinished product.

  • Weird noises after connecting headphones

Hello, I have a problem with headphones on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro U300), when I plug them in the computer starts to make a weird noise (some kind of buzzing) and the sound gets really irritating when I plug in 3G modem. Any advice?
    Thanks!

I tried to change the settings but there was no effect even when I set everything to zero.
brebs wrote:The static interference you hear can also be caused by the CPU using a power-saving mode. I hear static in my laptop headphones occasionally, have tried loads of things, and been unable to cure it.
I don't hear it in headphones I hear it from the computer, I suppose it's from speakers (but I can hear it even when I mute the sound).

  • FInder making a weird noise after reinstall

I recently reinstalled Mountain Lion from scratch and ever since, I get a weird noise when moving files in the finder from folder to folder or installing a new application. It's definitely not a physical/mechanical type sound (i.e. grinding or whirring), it's kind of a low-pitched digital sounding "err". That's probably a terrible description, but I don't know how else to put it. It's kind of like the bad sound people get on a game show when they get the answer wrong.
I haven't really tried anything besides shutting down and starting up again, because I have no idea where to start. I also don't know what other info to put in here, so I'll do the basics and let me know if someone needs more. I have no idea if this is even something to worry about, but it's different, and different always worries me.

  • MSI GT70 audio (headphone) jack makes weird noise after a few seconds

I recently got my laptop its an MSI GT70, i plugged in my headphones to the correct jack, and the laptop detects it and all is fine, but then when i play something with audio, it starts playing normally for a few seconds then the audio goes to a weird sound, kind of like everything turns to like an echo sound, i have tried multiple things, like changing the default format (the bits and HZ), and every time i do change it, it goes ok for a few seconds and then turns back to the echo-ish sound. i don't think something is wrong with the drivers tough.

i know it' been a while, but i resolved the problem finally, it wasn't anything with the drivers or hardware, i few days ago, i wanted my laptop be loud, but i raised the volume and it wasn't really loud as most laptops, so i checked around my laptop then i went to my icons i clicked sow hidden icons to see what was related to my sound i found thx tru studio pro settings in there, i double clicked it, clicked on speakers and realized they were on low that's why my laptop had low sound, so after i resolved it, i went to settings to see what it had to offerm i saw select your speaker setup, it had headphones, external speakers, and built in speakers, i automatically got my headphones and plugged them in, the thx turned from built in speakers to external speakers, then i listened to something and it was still bad, so i changed it to headphones, and it was perfectly fine after than,    , but i still dont know why it turns to external speakers, i think it has something to do with realtekhd, but it's a start, thanks to everyone for the replies

  • Ipod 4G-weird noises after synchronising

    Hello fellow ipod-holders.
I wonder if my problem with ipod can be solved or it's just a given thing.
Recently,I've noticed, that after either recharging, using a socket or synchronising with Mac,Ipod produces odd sounds, like the ones, when the circuit is about to break. It's a metallic sound, similar to one, wires produce, when too much electricity passes through.
For about several hours Ipod carries on with odd sounds, however,If I use it during that time,I don't experience any outward problems,be it with music or just generally scrolling the folders.
I became slightly worried, when someone told me,that it can result in electrocutuion(albeit a weak one),so I'm at sea whether to do something about it now or to just leave it as it is,as it doesn't inconvenience me.
At first,my theory was, that it had something to do with the recharger itself(it's an original apple accessory and it's only two years old.I've also checked both of cables, there're no signs of them being damaged.
Is there any solution to this?Shoud I go to the service centre and ask an expert advice?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Jarod, the sad face icon plus the strange sound coming from the HDD is a good indication that your iPod is in need of servicing. Luckily, it's still under warranty so you should be able to get it replaced. I wouldn't worry about the music on it since you have it on your computer also, right?
If you have an Apple Store nearby, take it there. If not, follow the link below to have it picked up.

  • My Mac book pro freezes up and makes a weird noise.

Last night I was attempting to se my MacBook Pro and I turned it on. It allowed me to go through the normal functions to start up, log in and password as I have it locked from start up, however right after that, it froze up and made the oddest error style beep.  Sounded like an emergency broadcast beep that you hear on tv. Anyway, I powered down to cold boot and once it booted up again, it did the same thing.  No error message was given just freezing up and the weird noise.  I decided to power dwindling again and plug it in to a power source and it worked fine.  When I unplugged it again, of course it froze up and made that beeping noise.  I thinking it's the battery but I'd like some input before driving to the apple store to buy a new battery and it still won't fix the problem.

At a REAL Apple store they will look at it, run some diagnostics and give you an opinion of what might be causing the freezing when on battery power. Also they will give you an estimate on fixing the problems they find.
If you take it to an Authorized Apple Repair center then they might charge you to run the diagnostics.

  • Password does not work after Lock windows 8

    Hi Experts,
I have windows 8 Pro on my Laptop. I have started facing a weird issue if late.
When I login to the laptop after restart of PC, it connects fine but when I am connected to my domain in my office network, after locking screen (Windows+L) the system does not accept the password. I have to disable the Wi-Fi and then it logs in and
when I enable Wi-Fi I am in the network and continue to work. here are answers to some basic questions I am sure will be asked.
    - I am entering the correct password.
    - When I am connected to domain I get this problem. At home, it works fine and accepts password after unlocking system. But as soon as I connect to VPN, same problem.
    - I have tried connecting via LAN cable and face the same issue.
    - problem is not with my account, only with my desktop, I can connect from other desktops and other folks using my laptop face the same problem.
    - Our IT guy here has given me a workaround to disable wifi everytime I have to relogin after locking screen. It works but it is not a very good workaround. disabling enabling wifi disconnects all my applications.
Have asked me to reimage the laptop. I have not given it a thought but I am getting more and more frustrated.
    - I have tried deleting my profile and same problem, i don't think my profile may be a problem though as other folks using my laptop face the same problem.
Just when i started getting comfortable with Windows 8, i am stuck with this nightmare.
    looking forward for some suggestions.
    Yogi

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused with your description. Is your account was domain account when encountering this problem?
When did this problem occures, if it just occures recently, it would be better to use system restore to reset your system to a former normal state.

  • ThinkPad W541 weird noise

My Thinkpad W541 is really new, just received it two weeks ago. So far so good, but there's just one little annoying bit. Whenever it is on, I can hear weird noises, it sounded a bit like two rotating metal cylinders scraping against each other, a little like drizzling sound.. It isnt really loud, but loud enough for me to pick it up when the room is quiet. I am not sure which part/ component is causing the noise, but I suspect it to come from the fan louvers though i am not sure at all. I also noticed one interesting thing about this problem, the sound is the loudest whenever I am on my desktop or when i switch to the start screen. For instance, if i suddenly open file explorer, the sound intensity gets lesser but when i minimize everything to show the desktop or the start screen, the sound intensity gets back up.
Is this a problem I need to worry about? I've invested a lot of money into this machine, so if there's some hardware glitch i really want to get it fixed ASAP before it damages other system components. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi, the engineer visisted an replaced my current fan with a brand new cooling fan. But it doenst seem to solve the problem. When I turn the computer on, the same problem persists. Which can mean either two things, one , the general design of lenovo's cooling fan is flawed or two, the problem isn't with the cooling fan. But i really don't understand, if it's not the cooling fan then what could it be? I mean mine comes with an SSD, the only moving parts in the whole machine is the cooling fan? Or not? I am clearly not the expert here.
And to be frank, I really don't understand the problem at all. The buzzing sound is only the loudest when i switch to the start screen and desktop, but when I am on other windows, like if i open a browser or a notepad on top, the buzzing sound intensity just drops to almost unhearable. I tried changing the desktop wallpaper into different colors shcemes and see if it makes a difference, but it doesnt. After the fan replacement, i've updated the computer's BIOS from the website, and the update doesn't seem to make any difference. I also did more testing, i changed the setting to do nothing when i close the laptop lid at the power options so that when I close the lid only the display turns off while the computer is still running. So i tried switching to the start screen (where the buzzing is loudest) and try closing the laptop lid to turn off the display and leave the laptop running, then i tried listening for the buzzing sound. It turns out that the buzzing sound disappears when I turn off the display. This led me to think that perhaps this has something to do with the display stuff?Or the cooling fan's control system is programmed according to the display? I dont know.
To summarize, here are the facts that I have tested over and over again:
    1) The buzzing sound is the loudest when I switch to desktop, app list , start screen.
    2) When the display is turned off (laptop lid closed) the sound disappears (the laptop is still running)
    3) The problem persists after the cooling fan is replaced with a brand new one.
    4) The BIOS is updated to the latest version
    5) There are no other issues with the laptop other than this annoying bit.
Some advice on my next step would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Why is my iPad making weird noises?

Lately my iPad has been making weird noises. It only happens sometimes  not always. Nothing happens when im normally surfing internet or  anything without sound emitting from it. Usually i can listen to songs  or watch and listen to videos without any problem but it is happening a  lot today. While listening to anything the sound is like echoing and is  louder than usual. (It sounds like it is coming from really old poor  quality speakers with the loudest volume) This happens even when a small  sound is made for e.g, when u receive a notification. This gets worse  at the moment i close my iPad. After closing it the weird drilling noise  lasts for 2-4 seconds. Last week the same thing happened prior to when  iPad COMPLETELY lost sound for a day. And then it came back when i  connected my iPad to laptop and then restarted iPad. (Even though i had  restarted it twice before). Also i cant take it to an Apple store  because there is no apple store nearby.
I have an iPad mini, with iOS 7.0.4
I also use headphones they work perfectly but the manufacturing company  is not that great so is it because of not so good quality headphones?
Please answer asap i get a mini heart attack every time this happens.

    Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • IBook making weird noise - think it's the fan

Hi, I've had this iBook for just over two years now, and lately it's been making a weird noise. Every so often something inside - I think it's the fan - will start making this sort of high whining whirring sound, then quiet down after a few minutes. It's not particularly tied to anything I'm doing, and will sometimes happen when I'm not doing anything. Also, I am using the computer on a normal desk, not in any situation which could lead to overheating, and the computer doesn't feel any hotter than usual.
I think the problem is getting more frequent over the past few months. I originally had 10.2 and I installed 10.4 when it came out, but I think the noise had already happened once before then, so I can't directly blame that. The computer has been running a little slower since I installed, though, and the trackpad has stopped working a few times lately.
Anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this, and is it just a nuisance or is it the first sign of the computer breaking down? If it needs repairing, where do I start? I'm very ignorant about hardware, so please try to explain simply! I do have a friend who can help me if at-home repairs are all that's needed, though.

    Esther,
Have you ever done an Archive and Install of your OS? If so, you may have a Previous System folder on your hard drive taking up a lot of space. This can safely be deleted.
Some folks delete files regularly, but forget to empty the trash. It isn't gone (and doesn't free up space) until you empty the trash.
You may want to download Monolingual, which will allow you to remove unnecessary languages and foreign fonts. Most people recommend keeping around 5 gigs free to allow for smooth operating in Tiger.
Try booting into Safe Mode. This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
You will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up, restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and repair permissions on the hard drive, as Barry has instructed above. (After repairing my hard drive via Safe Mode, I always repair permissions, even if I have done so recently.)
Hope you are on your way to a happier, quieter hard drive.

  • X300 - fan/hdd making weird noise

FYI notebook is <= 6 months old.
Couple of days ago, I had my x300 on for few days without any downtime, did system upgrade (kernel changes included [debian lenny]) in the meantime. Then out of nowhere, this very loud weird breaks out, few years ago I heard pretty much the same noise, I didn't shut down my notebook, and result was ... my hdd died.
So I shut down my x300, let it "relax" for few hours. Few hours later, noise is much softer and quiter, since I thought it could even be made to changes to kernel, I tried with few other distros, but nothing really changed it. Now I first thought it was my fan that was making this weird noise, but now I'm almost 100% positive it's my hdd. Since x300 would remain completely silent until I saw it booted my root partition and hdd started working, then I would hear the noise as well.
I keep shutting it down now, if it's not shut down it's on suspend or hibernate, I'm really scared to leave it up all night. I tried going through this forum, Google of course and etc ... but nothing really solved my problem. Right now noise is completely ... you can barely hear it, but let's say I have bat ears so I can hear it all the time.
It goes away, but then few minutes after computer has been on it comes back, since I gave it its time to "rest" it's been quite quiet, the reason I don't send it to Lenovo support is because of my recent incident: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=X_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=6612
and I pretty much just got it from them, so if I really don't want to go through whole thing agian.
Any thoughts, ideas, please do let me know.

I recommend you try to remove the battery and boot it if the noise is still there or not.
SDD might not have any noise from my experiences.
You're so hard to vertiy where the noise comes from , because the material of x300 is so easily passing the sound everywhere.
Most common problems are came from the fan, the cpu (can not be solven), the battery(common issue)
BTW, the x300 is supposed to be loud....i own one, I have the same problem, just use tpfancontrol and kick the noise out
