Weird noise, cannot explain?? Help!!

Hey there,
I've tried quite a couple troubleshooting tips, but to no
avail. I even did the entire page of requirements for Pro Tools in the "Help us
Help you" page so it runs properly with my system which I must say runs way
better, but did not fix my problem.
I just recently re-installed Pro
Tools on my laptop and everything seemed to be working fine until I play music
or anykind of audio. It's a horrible distortion noise mixed with an off-tune
phaser...ugly noise. The noise also sounds like a slowmotion sound as if the
music slows down and will do this while the popping and crackling
occurs.
Next, I thought my speakers were blown because my system sat for
about four months with no usage, but then I realized that it's intermittent and
the speakers sound great, so I ruled that out. Whenever I use youtube I notice
it goes away, then comes back, but sounds way better than when using PT or
Window Media. When I use my speakers in Youtube all the distortion goes away and
is the only audio file where the noise is at it's minimum compared to the other
apps. Also, when their is no noise of anykind you can hear poppin or crackin
while the clarity is clean which I've never experienced before while PT is in
session.
I dont know where all these new noises came for my system is but
two years old and I'm a solo rapper/recording engineer, the speakers haven't got
that much abuse.
Finally, I configured the latency in PT, but still no
go, I even re-installed the audio drives,updated my audio drivers, highered the
Buffer-Lowered it, same with CPU usage and all the other elements on that page
with no success.
Im also sending this to HP to see if maybe it's a systme configuration that I haven't done, so If HP could help me with this it would be great. Hopefuly somebody their know's about PT's?? Im just trying to narrow down the problem and involve both parties for any other suggestions. Are their any update drivers that I need to download or any updates for this particular model laptop??

I ended up sending my laptop to HP and they replaced my mainboard, it was good for 2 weeks and it has happened again.

Okay so I noticed a week or two ago that there was something lose on the inside of my iPhone 5s and ever since then when my phone vibrates sometimes there is this weird noise. whenever you get the red cross it is a signal of a possible hardware issue especially if the ipod is making odd clicking noises

I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. I have put the leopard disk into the drive and all it does is make a weird noise and then spits the disk right back out. It doesn't do this with other disks. HELP

Yes. Try Amazon.
Before you do upgrade to Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Technical Specifications
Make sure the disc you tried using doesn't have any fingerprints or smudges on it. The optical drive can't read the disk otherwise.
If your Mac won't read the disc, might be a good idea to rule out any problems with the startup disk BEFORE trying to upgrade the system.

IBook making weird noise - think it's the fan

Hi, I've had this iBook for just over two years now, and lately it's been making a weird noise. Every so often something inside - I think it's the fan - will start making this sort of high whining whirring sound, then quiet down after a few minutes. It's not particularly tied to anything I'm doing, and will sometimes happen when I'm not doing anything. Also, I am using the computer on a normal desk, not in any situation which could lead to overheating, and the computer doesn't feel any hotter than usual.
I think the problem is getting more frequent over the past few months. I originally had 10.2 and I installed 10.4 when it came out, but I think the noise had already happened once before then, so I can't directly blame that. The computer has been running a little slower since I installed, though, and the trackpad has stopped working a few times lately.
Anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this, and is it just a nuisance or is it the first sign of the computer breaking down? If it needs repairing, where do I start? I'm very ignorant about hardware, so please try to explain simply! I do have a friend who can help me if at-home repairs are all that's needed, though.

Have you ever done an Archive and Install of your OS? If so, you may have a Previous System folder on your hard drive taking up a lot of space. This can safely be deleted.
Some folks delete files regularly, but forget to empty the trash. It isn't gone (and doesn't free up space) until you empty the trash.
You may want to download Monolingual, which will allow you to remove unnecessary languages and foreign fonts. Most people recommend keeping around 5 gigs free to allow for smooth operating in Tiger.
Try booting into Safe Mode. This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
You will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up, restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and repair permissions on the hard drive, as Barry has instructed above. (After repairing my hard drive via Safe Mode, I always repair permissions, even if I have done so recently.)
Hope you are on your way to a happier, quieter hard drive.

CD or DVD and weird noise

hi everyone i really need help i am wondering if my laptop is supposed to make a weird noise when i open my computer and there is a CD or DVD in it my mother gets really freaked out adn think it is broken so please help me

Hi Tamara,
When there's a disc in the drive and you wake the computer, the drive will start to spin. If the CD/DVD is slightly out of balance it will cause a vibration and some noise. My CD or DVD makes a vibrating noise explains it.
Put a blank, unlabled CD in the drive and see if the noise is the same. If it is, please describe it a little better.

Grinding can only mean physical damage to the printer. You need to isolate the sound and replace the part to resolve the problem. The good news is that this is a new printer and will be covered by the warranty. Contact HP directly and have them run you through the options. It shouldnt cost you anything, but you do need to contact them directly.

so im getting these weird noise in skype, obviously, ANYWAY the first problem was that skype plays audio through the speakers instead of my headphones which i fixed by seletecting "Speakers and Headphones" as a default device and communication device and that solved the problem untill i had this problem which im asking RIGHT NOW, anyway im getting like a fan like static sound in the skype call i made sure that no one was using a fan in the call i was in and all of them werent using any, i then unplugged my headphones so the audio can be played through the speakers of my laptop and everyone could hear that noise, the only way i can fix this is by setting Communications headphones as a default device but then it brings me back to the problem of other audio such as youtube videos being played through the external speakers but if i disable "Speakers and Headphones" everything works but i cant ADJUST THE VOLUME OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM WTF? CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!

depending on your service provider, they're going to have to take care of it possibly with a ticket of sorts. usually it's an issue at the tower level. i can guarantee nothings wrong with your phone tho:D

Macbook Pro is slow/laggy and makes a weird noise

I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion with all the latest updates. Everything was fine until 3 days back, when it started acting up. Moving the cursor was extremely laggy, and starting up any application takes forever. I also noticed a weird noise, more like a phone pulse dial, coming from the front. It repeats itself every 3 seconds, so I first thought it must be the HDD failing. But I have run all sorts of hardware tests but every test seems to infer that the HDD is working fine. Is it possible that the HDD is failing even though it doesn't show up on any test? The Apple store nearest to me is more than a 3 hour drive away, so it's almost impossible to go there in person. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance.

Lenovo g500 metal making weird noises, rattles.

I've just bought my Lenovo g500, and one thing really bothers me. The inside of the laptop keeps making these weird noises every 30 minutes, like something isn't properly fixed in the inside of the computer, it is clattering. Is there any sollution to this? It gets really annoying after a while.

Zen Vision M [Weird Noise

hello all,
My Zen Vision M has started making Weird Noise's [without the headphones in], if i shake the player or turn it [when it is on, playing a video, or playing a song, but not when its just on the menus.] it sounds like there is a wire or something lose in it, i installed a Best skin ever, and i think it has been doing that ever since i installed that, but i used the least water i could, i made sure it didnt leak into any holes in the player, so.... i dont know what is wrong with it.

alright then maybe its not the hard dri've well if you not having problems than keep it and make sure keep track of you waranty becuase it might fail knock on wood so it doesnt. ps if small sound like something spinningor clicking its ok i think cuz its just the hard dri've spinning and when it clicks i think its just playing a song OR hopefully its not the head could be getting too close to the platters

What sort of machine are you using? I'm seeing similar things with the default podcast settings on my MacBook Pro. I've tried with a mic plugged into a Griffin iMic and with our normal setup of a studio mic plugged into a mixer (which is plugged into the line-in port). Both setups worked great with my PowerBook, but sound horrible with the MBP

Weird noise after locking

My phone is making this strange noise when I lock it, it starts off slowly and then speeds to a fluid buzzing, and it sounds very close to the noise a cicada makes. It is VERY loud.
It only started doing it today, and only when I lock my phone. Turning the lock tone off also turns off the buzzing, but I'm worried that something is still wrong with my phone! I don't have very many applications, I recently updated Facebook but that's it.
If anyone else has this problem, PLEASE let me know!

I got my new iPhone 4 on the day of the release here in Canada (July 30, 2010). I knew about the antenna problem but I was willing to put on a bumper case to resolve that issue. Anyway, several days after I got the phone, I experienced this very loud weird noise coming out of the speaker every time I either unlocked the phone or locked the phone. Yesterday I experienced the same issue, but this time I decided to record this noise on the Voice Memos application and guess what; as soon as I pressed the record button or the stop button, that same noise was being emitted.
The problems seem to be piling up and that could explain the shortage of phones here in Canada; perhaps they are resolving manufacture issues. I am ready to take this phone back because it seems like an unfinished product.

Weird noises coming from DV3-4110ej laptop

Hello everybody ! .
My laptop was sent to repairs few weeks ago due to weird noises (which i can only describe by words=>sound like long ' bzzzzzzz
' sounds which will not last the whole time, but every 2-3 seconds (for about 10-15 seconds,maybe more) ) .
According to the technician, the problem was in the hd, which was replaced, but still, the noises didn't stop.
I've already tried formatting the new hd,defragment,tune up (by hp), read that it has something to do with the AC unit - connected it to the battery - no good.
about the comp (if it may help) :
1 . DV3-4110ej , model number XM719EA#ABT
2. os : Windows 7 64 bit

I would have to listen to it before saying it is the fan. Hard disks are sealed units and are usuallly relatively quiet.

Macbook Pro making loud and weird noise

Okay, so I was just watching some videos on youtube and I fell asleep. Even the battery drained to zero% and hibernated. Then after around 7 hours when I woke up, and turned it on again then it started to make really weird noise from inside like hmmm I couldnt figure what was the problem, either the speakers? Fan? Hard-disk? Superdrive?
Then I turned it off and turned on again. It was quiet for a moment until the log in window appeared and started to making same noise again. Then I cleared PVRAM or something holding down Command+Option+P+R and Power Button then it is kinda fine now but still loud enough to bother people.
It seems like some wire or hmm something is stuck inside some moving part inside it but I am not sure. I just keep my Macbook Pro on the table all the time as a desktop I have never had such problem before.

You said at the start that the battery discharged completely...did you plug the MBP in and recharge? Does the MagSafe show it is charging or running on AC?
Does the noise sound lik a clicking, sound the hard drive stepping motor makes? Or is it more of a hum, or a grating sound? If the latter it could be a fault with a fan or a bad bearing in the hard drive.
How does it perform otherwise?
Might be a good candidate for a visit to the Apple genius bar and have the techs run some diagnostics.
