Weird Non-Start Issue

I've been experiencing an occasional system freeze where the system locks up completely and if I'm listening to music it repeats the same note until force restarted.
Anyway, it hasn't happened the past few days and I was feeling confident my computer was ok.
So tonight I go to shut the MBP off and this time it took forever. 2+ minutes of just spinning and spinning at the shutdown screen.
Finally it shut down and I took it to class where it wouldn't completely turn on again. It wouldn't get past a black screen and nothing seemed to help. After class I came home and tried to target-disk-mode onto my girlfriend's MacBook, which it did no problem, except the MBP still had a black screen and none of the backlighting, caps lock key light, etc worked.
I disconnected the MBP after copying my files over and I realized I had forgotten my Mail database, so I re-connected it and booted into target-disk mode and the computer came back to life, and has worked flawlessly ever since.
I really don't trust the computer anymore, should I take it in for service?

So I shut the MBP down overnight and it didn't boot up this morning. So, I tried doing target disk mode to my spare MacBook, disconnected and did target disk mode again.
Sure enough, just like last time the second target disk mode brought it back to life!
Does this sound like a hardware problem where the fix is 100% reproducible?

  • H61M-P20 G3 motherboard 99 code shown right-below, non start

    Hi, I bought yesterday a MSI H61M-P20 G3 mainboard, with Kingston KHX1600C9D3B1/4G - Memory and i3 Intel BX80637I33220 - Core I3-3220 processor. PS2 Keyboard and Mouse.
I have installed Window 7 32 bits, and sometimes when I turn it ON or restarting it, system doesn't starts it shows a black screen with a 99 code below at right side of the screen.
Its very strange because it doesn't happens always, also I have tried with the attached elements (keyboard and mouse). I don't know if it has relation or not with this 99 code, but when I disconnect the PS2 keyboard I have restarted and turned OFF many times and 99 code doesn't appears and system starts correctly, I will try today with an USB keyboard.
Could be the keyboard the reason of this 99 code with system non starting issue?
I wanna be sure if the mainboard have a failure to return it as a defectous part.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Dequeing from AQ in a non-start activity

    Hi everybody,
    I have the following pattern:
    Process 1:
    <process>
    <enqueue AQ CorrelationID = '1'/>
    </process>
    Process 2:
    <process>
    <receive start activity/>
    <dequeue AQ CorrelationID = '1'/> <!-- plus internal BPEL CorrelationSet -->
    </process>
The idea behind is that I must dequeue from my AQ in a non-start process activity.
So I tried to setup the AQ adapter with a CorrelationID = 'dynamic' (unused) in the AQ adapter wizard and then to modify the CorrelationID dynamically, at runtime, using the AQ header.
As my activity is not a start activity I have setup also an internal BPEL CorrelationSet based on the AQ payload.
Unfortunately my BPEL process is not consuming any message from the queue.
Is there any way to get this working? How may I dequeue from an AQ in an non-start activity?
I'm using the AQ Adapter from BPEL 10.1.2.0.2. Is there any change in BPEL 10.1.3.1.0 concerning this issue?
    Regards,
    amo

Yes you can use your web start application console. To enter data which is required for your application it is better idea to use java application which runs in console mode althou you may try to run console of windows and then read data from its input stream.

  • I am very annoyed at the Creative Cloud set up and the non-stop issues and problems

I am very annoyed at the Creative Cloud set up and the non-stop issues and problems!  I am paying monthly for this service and it is constantly failing in some way!  So far in three months I have had to uninstall and re-install Photoshop THREE times because it stopped working properly and Illustrator I have had to do that same to TWICE!  That isn't including the other apps that have had issues!  I don't have the time to constantly be un-installing and re-installing all or some of the Creative Cloud because your developers are not making a product that works consistently for the money you are charging!  It is costing me more than just this monthly fee!  And I am even less impressed with the fact that I cannot email someone for assistance in resolving these issues.  Really Adobe?

  • Non-Compliance issue

    Hi Cooper,
If i enable this script in my environment where everything is maintained as per compliance. If i will install Quest modules then there should not be any non-compliance issue. Means my security team should not raise concern about unlicensed software installed
    in MS environment.
Pls confirm so that i can make a decision about this.

    Hi Kuldeep,
To see who's changed or reset their password, you would have to set AD auditing on each domain controller and specifically look for "Account management." You can do that by setting an audit policy in the Def Domain Controller policy so it
will apply to all DCs. Then you must check the Security log on each DC. The problem with that is you don't know which DC to check. A centralized tool would be better to use, such as SCOM or a third party tool, such as the Quest tool, which you already have.

what can recover if deleted all?
    pdfs eBooks are recoverable?

The first step of syncing with iTunes is iTunes making a backup. Restore from that backup using the instructions in this article. Your iPad will be like it was when the backup was made.

The backup does not included synced media like apps. music and synced photos.
If necessary you can redownload iTunes purchases by:

Do that before restoring from backup

  • Weird mac non-start up issue

My Mac Pro crashed in After Effects yesterday. SInce then it will start up in WIndows7 under Boot Camp but won't run properly in OSX. I've swapped out the hard drive for another system drive but I get the Grey Screen of Death, that also happens when I try to boot from the System DVD. I've removed all PCI cards and external devices. Even with no hard disks in at all and just booting from DVD gets the hang screen. I tried PRAM and removed the battery but no joy.
Holding Alt at start up gives me four options.
    1 Current system
    2 Old System
    3 Install DVD
    4 Windows Boot Camp
They're all on separate internal drives.
1 Current system lets me login and gets as far as displaying the desktop then either jumps back to the login screen again or crashes to a blue screen and the spinning wheel
2 Old System gives me the Grey screen of death at the apple logo
3 Install DVD gives me the Grey screen of death at the apple logo.
    4 Windows boots fine
What's confusing is the that as Windows boots fine it can't be a hardware thing. But if it's a mac system software thing then surely the DVD should boot OK? And how come both system disks don't work suddenly and in different ways?

Your OS (I can't find OS minimim requirement) may not boot from DVD or any system that doesn't have drivers, and it may be it requires 10.6.5.
Did you ever boot before with this card and DVD or try with less than 10.6.4?
Still, you have another graphic card either installed or handy, so you can boot w/o the Q4000 installed.
The last SL DVD was only 10.6.3, only $25 @ Amazon if need be.
You / I never boot Disk Warrior from CD, doesn't have drivers, slow, would be an older OS build, etc. which should be v. 4.2+ also.

Does it work with just the Quadro?

  • 3 weird ALU iMac issues..

My ALU 20 inch iMac has 2 or 3 weird problems which I'd appreciate feedback on...
    1. When I run Maintenance or Onyx they both said my start up has a problem and I need to install the original start up disk and have it repaired. I did so, it checked and said there were NO start up issues.
    2. After shutting down for 3 days as I was away on holiday, I came back, started her up and there was the sound of the computer's drive being on but no start up process and nothing on the screen. I turned off for a while, did again, and on the third attempt it started up as normal.
    3. Most weird of all, after downloading and watching a TV episode from iTunes, my dock disappeared. I put it to sleep and this morning it is still the same. I can only access Mail and Safari through the 'recent item's drop down menu.
Are these things connected? Why on earth does Onyx say I have a problem when the disk says I don't, and where might my dock be....?

Hello and thanks for your reply/
The Maintenance version is 1.2.0 and was just downloaded.
It says "the volume needs to be repaired. To repair your start up disk, start up from your OSX DVD..."
No more specific than that I'm afraid = start up volume?
    Thanks.

  • Java Web Start issue

    Hi,
since we deploy JRE using Software distribution in Active Directory, the msi file provided with the Java installation is not well usable. Not sure, if it is still the case, that triggering the msi file a second time after successfull installation destroys the exisiting Java installation.
So I have built my own msi file for internal deployment using Advanced Installer. Finally all seemed to work (had some intermediate issues with outdated keys in HKCU), but now a new corporate application arrived, which creates a Java Web Start shortcut on the desktop. This shortcut fails to start with the error "Can not find message file".
Not very helpful. I found out, that the shortcut points to the javaws.exe in system32 folder (if I create the shortcut with the Cache Viewer, the same happens). And this javaws.exe file is also bringing up this message if double clicking. If I manually alter the shortcut to point to Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaws.exe, the application launches.
So there must be something wrong in my package with the javaws.exe in the Windows system folder. But what? I compared already several registry keys with a non corporate machine, on which I installed from download, and here it functions well, but could not find any visible differences.
Would be nice, if somebody could point me to either a way to fix the javaws.exe file in system32 (without using the downloaded Java installer, which cannot be deployed) or default created shortcuts to point to Program Files\Java instead of Windows\system32.
Thanks and best greetings from Germany
    Olaf

Hi and thanks for the answer.
That is my guess as well. As mentioned I already tried to compare the registry keys related to javaws on two machines and found no visible differences, which would explain, why this functions on one and not on the other. But maybe I simply did not stumble over the needed key.I wonder if there is a way to sniff out which registry keys a native application is referencing. That could also provide some clues into which keys need to be cleaned up to fix a broken JDK installation, which too many people are suffering from.

  • DB start Issue

    Hi All,
We met an issue while try to startup the oracle DB, it seems StartUp failed due to miss of logfile(REDO02.log).
The REDO02.log file was deleted by a mistake and we failed to recover it.
Is there any preferred way to recover Oracle without logfile?
We are getting below error while starting
During steps below, I met some errors.
    - Open the database with resetlogs. (Error ORA-01092, Process ID 4084,SessionID 170,Serial 5)
    - Shutdown the database (Error ORA-24324, 01041)

    Three pieces of advice.
First, you posted this plea less than an hour after your initial post.
This forum is not a chat line, and it is not paid support.
Everyone here has a job for which they are paid, and this forum is not it.
No one is responsible for monitoring it and giving a quick response.
Furthermore, it is a global forum.  The person with the information you seek may very well live 20 time zones away from you and was going to bed just as you posted. He will not even see your post for several more hours.
Your original post went up in the middle of the night for half the world.
No one with the information you seek is deliberately withholding it until you sound sufficiently desperate.
Second, it is not necessary to post three days worth of alert log.  Just the one startup sequence , to the point of the error, would have been sufficient.
Third, edit your profile to give yourself a recognizable name.  Participating in the community with a system generated name is like going to the pub with a bag over your head.

  • Weird Laptop LCD Issues

I've having weird issues with my T500 LCD. Whenever I run certain apps, all the icons on the desktop (that I can see) flicker until either A) I close the app B) it resolves itself and loads. This issue seems to always happen when the app I'm using has a splash screen (basically a small square image in the center saying I'm loading app X)  I'm updating the drivers and hoping that this resolves the issue.
I don't know what is causing the issue and I don't know know when its started.

(NOTE: The apps DO work on other machines... )
EDIT: No luck, the weird screen issue is still happening.

  • Viper Remote Start Issues 2012 Chrysler 300

I had a Viper remote start installed in my 2012 Chrysler 300.  The price and installation went great.  Scott at the Best Buy in Novi, MI is great.  My issue is that yesterday (12/12/14) when you start the car with or without the remote start there is a thumping noise inside the dash towards the passenger side. It sounds like something is spinning and thumping on something.  It will do this for 45-60 seconds then stop.
The remote start still works and it does not affect anything else. I'm going to call the store this week but I wanted to see if this has come up before.
    Thanks!

weird, yeah unfortunately without seeing the vehicle and running through some troubleshooting, there is an infinite number of possibilities that could be wrong.  If it is doing that only on remote start i would say that there is a problem, but since it is doing it with the key also, it is more than likely nothing with the remote start or the installation.  You can definately take it into the local bby for further diagnosis, but once the tech sees that it isn't anything with the remote start then he will send you to a dealership or someone who can fix that issue.  Sorry i couldn't be more help, but bring it back into the shop for a diagnosis, and if it out of our hands then the tech will send you off to another person to get it fixed.  best of luck!
I am a CAR Geek Squad installer tech lead, but my views that i post are my own and not that of best buy. if you like my posts give me some kudos, if you need further help contact your local Geek Squad installation bay!
Please read my posts with a smile, cause thats how I write them.Although i have a cool avatar by my name, I am just a member of the community that works for Best Buy.

  • OVMAPI_4004E Server Failed Command:- NFS repo VM starting issue

    Hi
I have setup a POC environment on OVM 3.1.1 with two OVS servers mapped to a cluster and one OVM server managing these servers . I have mapped a 600GB iscsi LUN as well as a 300GB NFS mount on both the OVS servers.
I created 2 VM's with the iscsi LUN mapped as the storage repo and VM's seem to be working fine
The issue that I am facing is with one of VM's on the NFS mount. I created a VM ( win2k3nfs01) on one of the servers (englabbld10) and mapped the NFS mount as the storage repository. The issue that I am facing is that I am not able to start the VM on the server englabbld10 I get the error which I have mentioned below, but if I migrate the VM to the other server englabbld09 I am able to start the VM. I am enclosing the error details of englabbld10.
The VM’s with iscsi repository work perfectly fine in englabbld10, I can migrate start stop the same.
I have cross validated the nfs permission, DNS records etc. Everything seems to be just fine.
Please help in resolve the same

  • Weird Driver swap issue since 10.4.10 install

    hey all hows it going.
i have a weird issue that i believe is a video driver issue. im actually a system administrator for a company so this is kind of fustrating not knowing how to fix something, so i turn to you guys!
ok so i have a imac g5 17" pc i've had since around 2003-4 now.. and the issue is that the display keeps alternating between 800X600 to the proper native resolution by itself randomly.
i have done a re-install of osx 10.4 and repatched to no avail, i have repaired permissions to the disc, i have started osx in safe mode and got it to rebuild the basic windows.preferences.plist file to no avail.
and then i noticed something. the specs on my mac had changed slightly since the 10.4.10 upgrade. i have not made any upgrade changes.
basically, this should be the video card according to apple and my receipt
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR
    SDRAM with AGP 8X support
    from the website
    http://support.apple.com/specs/imac/iMac_G5.html
looking on my "about my mac" "more.." section it states
    ATI Radeon 9600:
    Chipset Model: ATY,RV351
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: AGP
    VRAM (Total): 128 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x4150
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-117
    Displays:
err.. what the? i believe this COULD be the issue, no?
so my question is, how in the world could this happen and how do i change it back or change the video driver ? please help asap!

Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!
First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 30 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that did'nt work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try. Yours is the 10.4.6 Combo update. Others reading, download the Combo that applies to your system.
If that still did'nt get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
For those of you with Macs that are not PowerBooks or iBooks, a bad internal battery can cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!
    Good Luck!
    Cheers!
