Weird pixel behavior @ the bottom of the screen

A black line then a transparent line, building a shadow at the bottom of the screen. I researched for that and maybe i thought that it could be dead pixels, but i think it's not, because i guess dead pixels are red, green or blue.
have you guys seen this before?
PS i didn't restore it yet. Would it fix it?

Hi xlipe,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are seeing unexpected lines on your iPhone 5 screen, try these steps first:
Display image issues
This can include bright or dark pixels, lines in video, or sections of video missing.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Verify the issue is not content related, by viewing different content.

If the lines do not go away, I would recommend backing up and restoring your iPhone.
First, use the steps in this article to back up the device to iCloud or using iTunes:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
After the back up is complete, restore the device using the steps found here:

  • 1 dead pixel on the screen

I seem to have a dead or stuck pixel on the screen. How do I know if its dead, or if its stuck? Do dead pixels look different from stuck pixels?
Im not to bothered about it as I can hardly see it and I struggle to see it, but it is slightly annoying that you know its there. It looks turquoise colour, but when I put some black over it on the screen, you cant see it.
Also, I have downloaded the stuck pixel fixer and run it for about 20 minutes, and it doesnt seemed to have done anything.
Does anyone suggest what to do? Also, does apple have a pixel policy? Like I said im not to bothered by it, but when you know its there it can get a bit annoying. I have to really look for it to see it though.

Yes thats what I was thinking. Like I said im not to bothered about it and I can hardly see it, but might give them a call and see what they say. Its not acually to bad. I have dead pixels on other things before and they have been much worse. It must be because of the resolution of the screen or something.
I have to say, the one thing I hate the most and is the most annoying thing out of all technology for me is a dead pixel, esspecially when its right in the middle of the screen. This one is just at the top where the program menu bar is, so its not to obvious. Infact, its probably the best place it could have happend really, if it were to happen at all.

  • IPhone isn't using all pixels on the screen?

    Hi All
About one month ago i finally pulled myself together and bought myself the iPhone (great phone ) however, i just looked closely at the phone today and noticed one thing. When i am looking at the border of the screen (right before the "real black" it is, as if there are a row of about 3 pixels around the screen. That aren't used. Is that a faulty phone, or is that normal? (i will try to post some pictures when i get home later tonight)

yeah i still think its a new problem for me...i didn't notice it for the first 4 months i had the phone and then all of the sudden i did a month ago...i just don't care enough to send it to apple and be phoneless for a few weeks

  • How I find color of the pixel on the screen?, How I find color of the pixel on the screen?

The movie is from iTunes.   You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

  • A VERY weird problem with the screen?!!!

Ok, first of all, I apologize for the title of the question above, it was difficult to put my problem into words.
I use the Instagram app a lot on my 3 month old retina iPad.  I have pressed the little thingy on the bottom right of the screen that reads ( x2 ) and always use the app in this bigger form.
When I brows the internet or read a book I have no problem, but today when I opened a picture with a dark brown color I noticed that there are parallel vertical lines on the screen that are of a lighter shade. I naturally though it was a problem with the picture so I checked it on another one and they are still there. Very faint and hardly noticeable but THERE.
    Now to the big surprise.
I realized the vertical lines are a faint outline of the Instagram app!!!!!!! The lines match the lines on the popular page (or people's accounts) where the pictures are placed in columns, the parts that are black between the pictures? Those perfectly match the faint lines on my screen!!!
    Guess what.
After a few minutes of shock I noticed that there is even a faint outline of the home button too.
    WHAT is this?
    What could have gone wrong?
My iPad has never been dropped, never in contact with water, never over heated, never opened....
    WHAT?

I don't know if that will help at all. I just didn't realize that you had it turned on, that may have nothing to do with it, but its worth a try. At least it will be something that you can eliminate.
If rebooting the iPad helped at all, you can consider resetting all settings. When you do that though, you must re-enter all of the device settings again. It's sort of a pain to have to reset all of your customized settings and it will take some time, but it doesn't erase any data. It does mean that you have to re-enter WiFi passwords, turn Siri on agai, allow apps access to location services and photos .... All of that good stuff.
I hope for your sake, thatit's just some weird anomaly going on with the screen right now and that it will correct itself. You could try closing all apps in the recents tray, restart the iPad and see if the ghosting goes away. That's harmless enough to try.

  • Late 2011 Macbook Pro green pixels on the screen where dark colors should appear.

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro I bought it new with 4 gb of ram. About 4 months ago i purchased 8 gb of pny ram for this model and upgraded the ram. I followed all of the safety precautions and discharged my static electricity before upgrading. It increased the speed of my mac and helps with certain tasks. About 2-3 weeks i notices my mac froze and strange green black and pink bars appeared on the screen so i hold the power button to shut it down and it solves the problem this will happen about once a month but otherwise my mac works perfect. Now about a month ago I powered my mac on and low and behold The screen was covered in green pixels. I tried rebooting twice and it didn't do anything then i let it sleep for about 5 mins opened my mac and the green pixels were gone. Now my mac is still usable and everything works its just sometimes like once in a while ill get a few pixels and closing and opening my mac fixes it. I was curious if this was related to one another or is my mac just starting to die....

I have been getting green pixels/boxes the last while...
I have noticed it after waking the machine from sleep. Not 100% sure if that is the only time it happens. It goes away after a few seconds, typically.
Any idea what is going on?

  • I get a series of colloured pixels across the screen after Firefox opens, making it unreadable; how can I solve it?

I have just installed Firefox 4 on my PC running Windows XP. Firefox opens and looks OK for a while but then groups of coloured pixels appear across the screen as I move the mouse. These grow making the screen unreadable. I have tried starting Firefox in safe mode; this is better, but there is still some of this "noise". Any ideas?

  • Weird bubbles under the screen.

There are weird bubbles inside the glass of the screen,  it looks almost like a fingerprint on the glue holding the screen onto the glass... would this be somethig that I could get my Macbook Pro Display replaced for?

This seems to be an ongoing issue that we're trying to get Apple to resolve, it seems that some production batches have a bad AR coating that gradually comes off (and it'll get worse), have a look at this thread.  We're trying to get Apple to take notice of this issue

  • HP TouchSamrt 520-1001 (one red sub-pixel on the screen)

    Hello!
Yesterday I bought a computer, and now on the screen I saw a large red sub-pixel. I am very upset, because it costs money. How to solve this problem? How to fix this sub-pixel?
I bought the program JscreenFix, but it did not help. (((

There is a pixel policy and it requires that a specific number of pixels (plural) be bad within a certain radius. One bad pixel does not make a warranty claim. All laptop makers have similar policies. It is a holdover from the days when a laptop screen was much more expensive than now and frankly I think it is time to stand behind the product a bit better, but all you can really do is make a nuisance of yourself and see if they will bend the rules.

  • Line of "dead pixels" on the screen that come and go.

I just did a clean erase and install, i'm using leopard with all the current updates. i noticed the system was leaving lines on the screen before the fresh install so i figured it was a software problem. well, after doing a clean install they are back. its like the video isn't processing correctly or something because i can put another window on top of the "dead pixels" and it covers them up, like the in this picture. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/2442796153fb66961090o.png
the finder window is covering an inch or so over the dead pixels. and to clarify the line of dead pixels or what ever they are appear to associate with a certain window or app and show up at different parts of the screen. for instance, if i see the lines in firefox, i can minimize the window and the line is gone.
this is on a 24inch white imac with the 2.16 c2d.
any ideas what would make this happen?

There are quite a few posts about this sort of thing.
Many peopel find some minutes to hours after the lines of pixels the Mac freezes - mouse still moves but you can't do anything.
It's not clear if it's software or hardware.
My suspicion is that it's a software problem but I may be wrong. Either graphics memory or RAM used for buffering is faulty, or something is inadvertently writing garbage to graphics memory.
Most people attribute the issue to Leopard, but I'm still running Tiger.
Lots of posts about it being an nVidia card driver issue, but I'm running ATI.
Maybe coincidence but my 20" late 2006 iMac started playing up after a security update earlier this year.
Some people have had graphics cards replaced and it's cured it, pointing at hardware.
Another thing that seems to help is upping default fan speed using say smcFanControl.
Two things that have made this less frequent for me are:
    - turning off Genie effect in Sytem Prefeerences for minimising/maximising windows (I often got freezes when changing windows)
    - running smcFanControl
There is some debate as to whether or not for some reason the fans are not speeding up properly (software/EFI or SMC problem?) in response to higher temps and hence components are becoming unstable.
Try some searches on 'glitches' or 'freezing' or browse through the last couple of weeks threads.
If your machine is under warranty I'd be phoning Apple. Mine alas is not.

  • 2008 mbp boots up with weird pattern on the screen

2008 mbp boots up with weird pattern on screen then says needs to restart but won't restart. Saw something about nvidia graphic card went bad and apple was replacing for free. Is that something apple is still doing and does that sound like my issue?

I know this is an old post, but people reading it may be interested by these two links:

I got this problem with my previous 2008 Macbook Pro, and it appeared just after the recall ended! Here in Canada, Apple is charging close to $500 to replace the motherboard (and the graphics card). Recently, I discovered a computer chop in Montréal where they told me they can replace the GPU for $200. I left them my computer and will get it back in a week or so. I hope it will fix the problem.

  • I have an iPad 3rd gen it was bought in the US but I am in india and I have come to notice a dead pixel on the screen . Does my warranty cover that ? Can I claim it in india ?

It was bought in may of 2012 can I claim my warranty ?

The iPad (3rd generation) have 3.1 million pixels.
You want to claim warranty because of 1 dead pixel; doubt Apple will entertain your request.

    Hello,

It seems that the image is not processed fast enough.
    Any advices?

hello, have you set any other dpi value in your operating system than the default one (96dpi)? more information about that is available at http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/display_use_large_or_small_fonts.mspx
