Weird problem - can't change Genre all of the sudden

Okay, I have spent time searching this forum to see if this has been posted before but I do not see anything. And this is not the typical "I can't change song info" question, not that there is anything wrong with those. Anyways, my problem is a strange one, and is an issue I only recently started having.
My problem occurs only for albums/songs that I own that have Hip-Hop as the Genre. Recently I have noticed that when I pull up the Song Info, in the Genre field, it lists the Genre as follows:
[Hip-Hop/Rap
If I change the Genre to Hip-Hop and click OK, it seems to work, but if I actually go back to Song Info again, then it still has [Hip-Hop/Rap in the Genre field. Another weird thing is that I can change the Genre to Rap properly. But if I try to change it back to Hip-Hop after it has been successfully changed to Rap, then it shows up yet again as [Hip-Hop/Rap. Another weird thing is that even though it has [Hip-Hop/Rap listed as the Genre in the Song Info dialogue box, in the actual Genre column in my iTunes column (in Cover Flow mode or I guess any mode), it shows Hip-Hop as the Genre and not [Hip-Hop/Rap. In addition, I have noticed that if I have songs with the Genre field blank and try to change them to Hip-Hop, after clicking OK and going back to Song Info it shows the same old [Hip-Hop/Rap again.
One other weird thing--when I go to Windows Explorer and find the song and click Properties, it has the Genre listed as Hip-Hop correctly.

I guess that works, although it is kind of an annoying workaround. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? Wondering also if Apple takes not of bugs/issues/problems like this, especially ones that could be easily fixed?
Kind of tired of all these little bugs and quirks. Sure, this is not the end of the world, but the little ones add up, If not, I may have to bust out the old Zune--synch that puppy up to my brand new Galaxy II Nexus III Facebook Razor Google Adr*id phone (32 GB; on Andr*ids 32 GB = 32 GB; weird). Get all 4G LTE up in here. Have the ability to delete old text messages.

Can't sync iPhone all of the sudden!

Everytime I try to sync my iPhone 3G I get an error message telling me that I don't have enough access priveleges for that. Don't know what to do it just started doing this all of the sudden. I tryed repairing iTunes, reinstalling iTunes, and restoring my iPhone, but it still gives me the error message and will not sync. Has anybody had this problem? Does anyone have an answer for this problem? I hope so it's so frustrating! Thanks in advance to any help!

Can i chang genre of all my music at once

Im a diehard country fan and i changed it all to country after downloading it, well their is a space after one of some of them and it would be easer to change them all at the same time, can i do that(it screws up the menus on my Ipod)

in your main library window, select all the songs you want to change. right-click the blue mass, and select "get info". say "yes" to the dialog box. type "Country" into the genre field in the screen you get to, and click OK. that will change them all at once to the same genre.

I'd like to get all these '-1 suffix' files together with their associated Develop adjustments into one folder (if they aren't already) so I can see them in Grid view in the Library module, which I use as my basic starting point for everything else at this early stage of my Lightroom 'career'.
To see what folder these are stored in, right-click on a photo and select "Go to Folder in Library".
Advice: if you are going to use Lightroom effectively, you probably want to stop using folders as your method to create a grouping of photos that are already in Lightroom; there are plenty of built-in tools, such as keywords, collections, color labels, etc.
I don't understand why the search on the entire catalog picked up apparently the same two file versions but also got the Develop adjustments when going to the relevant Folder didn't show the adjustment black squares against each image in Grid view nor were they there when the images were opened in the Develop module. Perhaps if I understood this, I'd be a bit more confident of moving forward myself.
These are most likely different versions of the same photo, in different folders. Lightroom stores the edits in its own catalog, and so it knows that one folder's photos have edits, and the other folder's photos do not have edits. Please understand that Lightroom is a database, it knows where the photos are at the time you import them (or add them to the catalog by synchronize), and then if you move things around in your operating system, Lightroom does not know anything about that and problems begin. Thus the advice to organize using Lightroom tools and methods and not operating system tools and methods.

It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.

Email will not let me change fonts all of a sudden. It says I don't have the neccesay permissions in ~/library/preferences. this has just happened recently.

Who is your email provider?
You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
If yes, try deleting the mail account and adding it again.

How can I shut off all of the pop-up windows for all the Firefox and Thunderbird updates?
Apparently now Mozilla creates new versions of their browser and email apps every two weeks instead of just creating updates... I'm tired of all of the pop-up requests for these constant installation requests and all the problems that the new version installations create... I just want to use the software and be left alone.
I can't find a way to make Firefox and Thunderbird stop with the pop-up requests for new installations... is there a way to do this or has Mozilla just got it rigged so one can't just use the software without re-installing a new version every two weeks and running in to new plugin issues and missing features every time?

I have a problem. I was happily deleting and moving some emails from my Inbox on my ipad when all of a sudden, the messages just disappeared!!! When I tried to get to that page again, the address reads"mail.google.com/mail/mu/mp/12#tl/Inbox. So from Inbox down to All mail, the message just says"no offline messages" However, I still have messages in the business plan, travel etc boxes. I can view my inbox messages via the message icon in my iPad.
I went to see an Apple store, I am based in Patong, Phuket, Thailand, where I bought it sometime in November last year. The technician could see the messages in my inbox from his Mac via direct connection through gmail whereas I couldn't. As there is a language problem and I am an IT virgin, it all sounds double Dutch to me when he tried to say something about my server, and I had to take it down to an authorized apple service provider in town. I don't really want to do it unless it is the last resort as I have only my iPad, and I am sure it will take at least a week to be sorted out. Would greatly appreciate any help.

Messages should work with the email address that you use for your Apple ID. You have to be signed into that email address in order for any other email address that you have added to work.
You should add your iPhone number to your Apple ID on the iPad, and then select that as the contact address at which you can be reached and all of the messages between the phone and the iPad will sync again.

Also, If i chose a file that was already in light room to print, even though I have the chosen file up in the developing mode, it will instead print the most recent file that I added to lightroom. If found a way to work around these problems, (check make this the copy in the soft proofing, and copy my settings and delete and reload the old files) but it's a slight hassle and it didn't use to do this. Not sure why it changed. Could I have accidentally changed a setting?

Why all of the sudden will not print from email or phone - no problems before

I have had no problems with my new web enabled printer from day one. Infact I fell in love with it. I haven't printed anything on it for a few days now and all of the sudden it won't print. I am connected to the internet and it shows being online but nothing. Can't print emails or phono's from my phone. I have double checked everything and it won't work.

I forgot to mention - according to my emails and the notice I recieved it says the mail has been delivered to my printer and it is waiting to print.

There are no viruses that can affect Apple OS X.
What files do you keep on the Desktop? How many?
Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible)
Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks.
