Weird Problem With Dates in Finder and Mail
I have a MBPr running 10.8.2 which is exhibiting a very strange behaviour related to dates.
Initially, the problem manifested in Mail where the date shown in the message list for each message was exactly the same, regardless of the date sent/received. Oddly, this problem only manifested in the "new" mail view. Switching to "Classic" view in Mail prefs works fine. This seemed odd enough, but only related to mail.
Then, I noticed the exact same date was the Creation, Modification, and Last Opened date for many files (including all of the .emlx files in the Mail folder) as shown in the preview column in the Finder's column view. Oddly, the exact same files show different Creation/Modification/Opened dates when viewed in a Get Info window or when listed in the Terminal with ls -l.
Clearly there is some kind of issue with a cache, or an index of some sort that is accessed by the Finder and/or Mail. I'm attaching a screenshot of the Get Info window and the Finder preview column for a file. Thanks for any info anyone can shed on this.
Embarrassingly, the "More Like This" box to the immediate right of my post shows a discussion titled "Incorrect dates in column view preview" that fixed the problem.
How this affects the "new" view in Mail and not the "Classic" view is beyond me, but I'm also beyond caring at this point.

Really weird problem with dates in Finder
I have some picture files from a camera which all appear to be a day out in their date stamp. Initially I just assumed the camera was set wrong, but then I moved them to another Mac to find the dates were actually correct. I then went back to the original Mac to discover that if I copied them to another folder and then back again, magically the dates were corrected. what is going on here ?
How are you checking the date? Get info?
What does iPhoto show?
Are they Jpgs or RAW?
I heard there was a date issue wit Lightroom 1.4

MacMail reply problem with 10.10.1 and Mail 8.1.
Environment is OS X 10.10.1
Mail 8.1 (1993) which came with Yosemite.
When I reply to email, Mail can't link the original message with the response.
The reply is in the "Sent" folder as it should be and the Message Viewer has the reply arrow
in the right place.
However, when I click on the reply arrow, I get an Error message that says
"Mail was unable to find your reply to the message “test reply”. You may have deleted the message."
No problem until Yosemite. Painful problem since I'd like to see what I said in email responses without
scanning the Sent Mail folder.
I haven't found this problem with the other numerous Yosemite Mail discussions.
Anyone see this ?I have the same problem on two separate MacBook Pros. Have rebuilt mailboxes to no avail. Others have had the same problem - see: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22448092 Unfortunately, someone posted a solution that worked for old mail but not new mail. That led to someone marking the problem as solved. I have not found a solution yet. Really a pain in the neck not being able to find responses.
Incidentally, after following the procedure in the link above I have ended up with multiple files named Envelope Index... And the problem reemerged with old email and following the procedure above a second time has created more problems because the find reply is not fixed for any mail now and I cannot rebuild my inbox, I seem to have to rebuild each folder individually. So be cautious in messing with your Envelope Index files. -
Problem with Date of files and email

I have a MacBook with MacOSx snow Leopard 10.6.3.
I have a problem with the date showed for the files inside Finder and for my emails on Apple Mail. All files show a date with correct day and correct hour but with wrong month; all files have as month January. Except for files modified or email received in the last two days all the other files displayed by Finder (and also for email) have this wrong date. But when I want to attach a file to an email or insert a file (for example word) inside another file word the system displays correct date.
Someone had the same problem?
The version of Apple Email is 4.2 and the Finder is 10.6.4.You make no mention that you have checked your calendar settings.
System Preferences>Time & Date>Date & Time
Was this done?
I am not at my SL MBP at the moment but, the above should be the same and/or similar as the Tiger OS.

Update to OS 10.6.4, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Weird problem with Macbook Pro 15" and Asus PB278 monitor
Hi there
I recently bought a brand new MacBook pro 15" the one with a dedicated nvidia 750 vid card. However I'm facing weird problems while connecting it to a external monitor Asus PB278 (1440p monitor). I use a mini display port to display port cable.
My problem is: Sometimes it works perfectly, but then if I put the laptop to sleep, sometimes it won't recognise the screen at wake up, at first I tried to restart the system, power on and off the monitor, connecting and reconnecting the cable... nothing worked. I even bought a expensier cable thinking it was probably a low quality cable. I found that then only way to fix this is to connect the monitor with a mini display to HDMI cable I have (won't support over 1080p), and then put the mini display to display port cable again... it is freaking bizarre.
This is very frustrating, I live outside the US and while the retailer will honor the guarantee I'm not sure if this is a Software or Hardware problem, It will take them about 3 weeks to replace my system which is unfortunate due to I have plenty of work to do. I don't want to send it on guarantee just to find out hey... display recognition is broken again. My questions are:
Is there a way to know if this is a hardware or software problem?
I've heard Yosemite is having some issues regarding external displays, is this one of those?
Have you found yourself experiencing this problem? Could you fix it?

It appears that you've discovered unusual behavior with your MacBook Pro and an external display, where you need to temporarily connect a different display adapter before you can use your Asus PB278 again.
I can offer some additional tips to help resolve or further isolate the issue you're seeing.
First, try the following resets to see if they eliminate the behavior:
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Next, if the issue occurs again, try restarting your Mac into Safe Mode:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.

If your display is recognized in Safe Mode, or after restarting again, the issue may be due to a software conflict.
Another suggestion mentioned in the article above is to try a different type of display adapter, such as a Mini DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI adapter.
If the issue persists, you can also back up your data, erase your hard drive, and reinstall a fresh copy of OS X Yosemite.

If the issue still occurs after a clean install, troubleshooting the hardware may be necessary.

Problems with Data Objects, streams, and openDoc
When I try to use this.openDataObject("myObject") in Acrobat 8, I get
NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.

I have checked that the attachment type is allowed in the registry (and it is by default since the attachment is PDF), so is there a setting that can prohibit JavaScript from opening attachments? If so, can I change this setting somewhere?
I have discovered that while the above issue needs to be resolved, it is only part of the problem. I am trying to read in a PDF file using Net.HTTP.request, convert the response using stringFromStream, then feed the response to createDataObject. The result is not a valid PDF file. Is this process possible or am I going about this the wrong way? I have also tried app.openDoc, but since the PDF is located on our intranet https://someserver.com/doc.pdf I get a security error. Using only folder level JavaScript, is it possible to open a remote file from a web server, evaluate its Doc object (fields, etc), then save the file back out to the local file system?

There is a web service that produces an xml feed which lists all of the documents hosted on that server. I read in the XML and query it to return the URL of a desired PDF. What I need is a way to import the Doc object of that PDF so that I can enumerate over all of the fields and populate a listbox in the current document with those field names. If I could then save the imported PDF to a local folder, well... that would just be icing on the cake. The way I have been trying to go about this is to feed the URL to Net.HTTP.request which should (in theory) return the PDF as a stream object. I run util.stringFromStream on that object because I want to feed it to createDataObject which requires a string to act upon. My problems at this point in the operation are:
1. I don't think this creates a valid PDF document object and I'm not sure if it should or if I am doing something wrong. Though I am passing the correct MIME type to the createDataObject (application/pdf)
2. regardless of the type or validity of the attachment, I get the error message that I mentioned in my original post which leads me to believe that somehow this company has disabled opening attachments via JavaScript. If that is the case I need to know how to change that configuration. -

This response is a little late as I just read about your problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and both worked flawlessly with the iPhone 5s my wife and I had. However, we just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and Uconnect will receive calls but you cannot answer them. You can callout successfully, however. the annoyance being the inability to answer incoming calls in the HandsFree mode.

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

Problem with replies in Maverick's mail. Originating emails send fine. When replying to an email (various addresses) the reply is hung up and can not be sent. Option becomes put in draft, delete, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful. Mid 2013 iMac.
I don't know how rare this is. I went a week or so without a problem, and now it's starting to recur. Also, in some instances, an email will look unsent (remain in the outbox on the Treo), but it has been sent, and recipients are replying while I'm trying to figure out what is going on. Further, it will send the same email over and over during this madness.
This is a show stopper. If there isn't a software fix soon, I may chuck this phone in the garbage.

UPDATE: The problem comes and goes. The next day, no changes to the treo, everything workeds. Now i'm suspecting the sprint server, and how it/the phone responds from failing to send while roaming. I've since turned off roaming, and haven't had a problem for several days.

Do you have an installed email program such as Microsoft Outlook? If your email is through an online login, such as Gmail, etc, then one will have to create an email association with a program such as Microsoft Outlook on the PC for this Scan to Email system to function.

Had problem with my hotmail account and had to change my password. Ever since then, my default e-mail account set up to hotmail doesn't work...it sends from gmail. How can I correct that?
On your iPhone you need to change your password in 2 places:
- Incoming Mail Server and
- Outgoing Mail Server
To get to the password entry for the Outgoing Mail Server you have to tap on cell smtp.live.com and again on the second view.
