Weird problem with java environment
Hi
I have been working on a project using JRE 1.5.0_06. We are developing everything on netBeans platform. Until two days ago everything was going fine when suddenly both the system and the netBeans have begun working weirdly. These are the problems:
1) When I make changes in a java source file and compile it using javac, those changes are not being reflected in the class file. In other words, on running the class file, I'm getting the older version. i can't make a thing out of it. Please help me out as my deadline is approaching. I tried both from inside netbeans and from the command line. The OS i'm using is windows XP. Further, netbeans is showing more strange problems. Even while debugging, it is skipping some lines in the code which have been modified - seems to be the same problem - those lines are not being compiled into the class file. I've been careful to check that I am using the correct class files. Did anybody had this problem before? Is it a bug in JRE or something like that? Do I have to reinstall JRE?

thanks....for your prompt reply.. I reinstalled both jre and jdk. But I could understand the problem. We have to compile using the java executable in jdk rather than jre.

Weird problem with java.awt.Color
I have a Compiled C program that launches a Java program. This java program always throws an UnsatisfiedLinkError when I attempt to construct a new Color object, unless the owner of the C program is one particular user and the group is admin. No other combination works.
Any ideas?in nt & 2000, each user can have his/her own classpath - i assume that this is the same of unix. have you looked at whether the various users have the appropriate classpath settings?

Varun.You probably made the same mistake as I did and added the tables manually to the "sample" database instead of the "sun-appserv-samples" database.

Problem with Java after System Upgrade to 10.5.7
Hi,
I am facing problem with Java after having run Software upgrades.
Here is the whole story. I recently moved to iMac 10.5.6 from PowerPc 10.4. On this new machine I was having problem running a 3rd party application, which requires JVM. As this application worked well on Tiger, I decided to upgrade JVM on my iMAC using Software Upgrade(was I insane!!). As I like my systems to be updated (as with linux on my personal machine) I clicked "install all". As a result I have the following upgrades run on my machine:

In the wake of this java problem I resorted to keep working on my old machine, and today in my spare time I tried to fix this new machine.
So I execute $java on prompt, and then try to check the files it has opened, using lsof -p pid
I see it referring to
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
isn't this usually the JAVA_HOME
However, executing $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
hangs!!
but
$/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/bin/java
works!!
$ pwd
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin

Anyways, things seems to work for the moment. Lets see if I get problem with using Java.

I'm having a weird problem with JApplet. So first I create an Applet with this code

Thanks.Reloading the page usually doesn't work. You will need to open the Java Console and clear classloader cache (x). You can also use appletviewer for testing purposes.

Weird problems with CSS being applied to JSF pages
I have this really weird problem with my CSS rules being applied to my JSF pages. My CSS rules don't get applied unless one of the following two things happen:
- A page is reloaded (by redirecting to itself, or if there were validation errors)
- The previous page in the history had the same relative reference to the same CSS file.
If a page is newly loaded, and the previous page did not have that same CSS reference, the CSS styles will not show up. Also, if the above is true, and the page is reloaded by JSF, the CSS styles show up.
Now, my problem could be solved if I put all JSP files in the same level, but the display of the first page would still be without the CSS style applied.
Is this known behaviour? And if it is, does it have anything to do do with the way JSF handles URLs (always one level back)? Help and input is kindly appreciated!Dude,

Weird problem with role assignment in Portal
Hi,
In our newly installed Portal for eRecruitment Production System we encounter a weird problem with assigning roles to users.
When I open User Administration and search for roles, it displays the Portal roles perfectly.
However, when I search for a user in User Administration and click on it when found, I am unable to find any roles to assign! So I am unable to find any roles, when I want to modify the assigned roles for a particular user, while the roles do exist and can be found on its own. How is this possible? Am I missing something here?
We have installed SPS 15 and use ABAP as user store. We have used reverse proxy and web dispatchers in this case.

Early problems with Java on my Macbook.
Hi, I am a former high school computer science student and I'm having problems with Java as I've recently moved from Windows to a Mac. The following is a letter I wrote to my prior computer science teacher but he does not seem to be responding. I think all you need to know is that DrawHouse and JumpingJacks are simple Java programs we made in class that utilize an object called DrawingTool (which is a graphics environment). DrawingTool is contained in gpdraw.jar and also was contained in our class' apcslib.jar. Also, FileInput is a class contained in apcslib.jar.
I basically transferred all my JAR files (apcslib.jar, etc.) from my Windows computer to my Mac. I didn't think anything was wrong or corrupted with them because they're the same JAR files that I used for my Java programs on my Windows comp in high school and when I run those Java programs now, they still work. But for some reason if I try to run, say, DrawHouse or JumpingJacks with those same programs on my Macbook, it gives me the following errors on runtime (it compiles fine).

So I thought, maybe I'm not importing the JAR files correctly. But if I import gsdraw.jar or a different apcslib.jar that I downloaded from some random teacher's website on the internet (and that also happens to have DrawingTool in it) then it compiles and runs fine. So I thought, ok, maybe it's a problem with this one particular apcslib.jar that I transferred from my Windows computer. But like I said, DrawHouse and JumpingJacks run fine on my windows comp, and most ridiculous of all, I tried running Tasmania on my Macbook (which uses the FileInput class from your apcslib.jar) and THAT works fine! So to recap, I'm not importing the JAR files wrong and at times there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the apcslib.jar you gave us and probably not anything wrong with my IDE, seeing that importing of other JAR files works fine (I'm using eclipse and/or xcode, and the same problem occurs with both). Now of course, I could just go ahead and use the apcslib that I downloaded from the internet, but it's very inconvenient since it doesn't match your own apcslib's contents (for example, it doesn't have FileInput). By the way, I've also tried adding the JARS directly to the Java Extensions instead of importing them as external JARS, but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also attached the apcslib.jar in case you think that it's somehow corrupted or something....
Do you have any idea about what could be wrong or where I should go from here?

encounter the problem and run with errors?No. the DT programmer could have done the same thing, using code that's correct on Windows but not on Linux. Or there could be a difference in the Java versions on the couputers and code that's valid in the later version is failing in the earlier, or vice versa. -

I'm having a weird problem with some java apps that I'm trying to use (netbeans and frostwire). Looks like they aren't recognizing where the mouse pointer is. If I click Frostwire's window close button, it minimizes instead. The same thing is happening with netbeans, where I can't even access the menus with my mouse. I have the latest jdk and xfce4 packages installed.
Any hints on how I can fix this?

Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)
Hi all,
I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :

Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.

This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job. -

I�m using VAJ 4.0. and I�m doing normal GUI application. I have next problem.
I have in the same class two jswing buttons named start (ivjGStart) and stop (ivjGStop) and private static int field named Status where initial value is 0. This buttons should work something like this:
When I click on start button it must do next:
Start button must set disenabled and Stop button must set enabled and selected. Field status is set to 1, because this is a condition in next procedure in some loop. And then procedure named IzvajajNeprekinjeno() is invoked.
And when I click on stop button it must do next:
Start button must set enabled and selected and Stop button must set disenabled.
Field status is set to 0.
This works everything fine without loop �do .. while� inside the procedure IzvajajNeprekinjeno(). But when used this loop the start button all the time stay (like) pressed. And this means that a can�t stop my loop.

TomiThis is a multi thread problem. When you start the gui, it is running in one thread. Lets call that GUI_Thread so we know what we are talking about.
Since java is task-based this will happen if you do like this:
1. Button "Start" is pressed. Thread running: GUI_Thread
2. Event gStart_ActionEvents() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
3. Method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
4. Sleep in method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() on thread GUI_Thread
5. Call PreberiDat(). Thread running: GUI_Thread
6. Check status. If == 1, go tho 4. Thread running: GUI_Thread.
Since the method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() (what does that mean?) and the GUI is running in the same thread and the event that the Start button has thrown isn't done yet, the program will go on in the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method forever and never let you press the Stop-button.
What you have to do is do put either the GUI in a thread of its own or start a new thread that will do the task of the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method.

I have a problem with Java and an e-procurement system integrating
I use an e-procurement system at work and yesterday I could not get my parts list from the suppliers web site to display in our in-house eprocurment finance package.
There is not a problem with the finance package. There is not a problem with the suppliers web site. I have verified both of these by other colleagues being able to complete what I am trying to do.
The difference between my version of Firefox and my colleagues' is that I am on version 6.0.1 and they are on 6.0.
I have had problems with Java not displaying certain animations on the suppliers web site but, my colleague does not and I am suspicious that this is the problem. Can anyone verify this please and what can I do about it. My Java updates are up-to-date as of yesterday and are automatic.

Problem with Java after Software Update to 10.5.7

I am facing problem with Java after having run Software upgrades.
Here is the whole story. I recently moved to iMac 10.5.6 from PowerPc 10.4. On this new machine I was having problem running a 3rd party application, which requires JVM. As this application worked well on Tiger, I decided to upgrade JVM on my iMAC using Software Upgrade(was I insane!!). As I like my systems to be updated (as with linux on my personal machine) I clicked "install all". As a result I have the following upgrades run on my machine:

Apple Banned me, because of a very weird problem with my "Factory Unlocked"
Hi Everybody! Im having a very weird problem with my unlocked iphone 4.
First of all, i would like to apologize because of my english, is not very good. My native language is Spanish.
Well.. Im from Mexico, and here we can buy the iphone Unlocked on the Apple Online Store.
Here's my problem. Apple has exchanged my iphone 3 times.
I returned the iphone the first time because the screen was totally yellowish, other than that everything was working great!, that was by the end of September.
On October 20th, i recieved my second iphone, and then a bigger problem started .
Before i continue, let me give you this information: here in Mexico we have basically 3 cell phone companies
1.- Telcel
2.- Movistar
3.- Unefon
OK, now on october 20th, i recieved my second iphone, and then procced to activate via itunes using my UNEFON sim card (microsim).
And every time i tried to activate it, only got this message onscreen:

I though something was wrong with my brand new factory unlocked iphone 4.
I have 4 more simcards from my brothers (they all had iphone 4 too)
I tried telcel sim card, and i could activate my iphone. Then i insterted the Movistar microsim, and it worked too!! But then when i put the Unefon sim, the itunes logo inmediatly appears on the screen asking to activate on itunes, and when i tried that, the only response i got was the image above saying " The Simcard inserted on this iphone does not appear to be supported"
Weird thing here is, that, when i put my Unefon sim card on my brothers iphone 4, it worked great! on all of them, internet 3g, phone, wireless , evrything!
I called apple support, and they exchange the iphone for another one.
I recieved the third iphone on October 29. Last friday. and guess what? SAME PROBLEM! different serial number, same week production (week 42) but exactly the same message on itunes.
Very, very frustrated, i called apple again, and after 1 hour with thechnical support, they told me " We are sorry, but we can only offer you, your money back, NO MORE EXCHANGES FOR YOU"
I said why?... i dont want my money back! i want an UNLOCKED iphone!, but they refuse to give me another iphone.
When i asked techincal support, why my unefon sim card worked great on all three of my brothers iphone but not on mine, he just told me, "I really dont know, i guess they just got lucky" ****, this answer put all my trust i had on apple products for years, right on the garbage.
Since they refused to give me another iphone, i accepted my money back, and inmediatly after i finished the call, i asked my brother to buy me one more time an iphone 4 using his name, and his credit card. Now i have to wait until November 8-12 to recieve my new iphone, hoping this time i get a REAL UNLOCKED iphone, and not a partially unlocked iphone.
btw. i even went to Unefon costumer service and bought a new prepiad line, with a new microsim, just to be 100% sure that this problem is not because of the sim. And again didnt worked on my iphone, but it worked on any of my brothers iphone4.

FYI i also restore 4 times the last iphone and nothing seemed to work, i use 3 different computers, Macbook Pro, iMac, and an Hp with Windows 7, and the same message on all three computers.
Wierd thing also, one of my brothers bougth an iphone 4 this last week too, but he bought the 16Gb not the 32Gb. His iphone production week is 42 also! and when i put my Unefon sim in his iphone works great!
I dont know what else i can do, I just need to have faith that my new iphone coming this november will be real unlocked, but what if i'll recieve an iphone and then the same problem?? time for android? just kidding really guys, what can i do? anyone with similar problem like me? i dont wanna use Telcel or Movistar, i wanna use Unefon, and thats why i bought an Unlocked iphone
btw: jailbreak is not a solution for me, because i always like to use legal software on all my apple products, and because of the warranty.According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, there are two official carriers in Mexico (Movistar and Telcel) and neither carrier offers an unlocked phone.
