Weird proof reader issue - underlining words that shouldn't be?

Hey everyone, I love Pages but I've been having a problem with it underlining words for being grammatically wrong when they're clearly not. Please see the attached image as an example.

I get Macrolevel (it should be hyphenated), but all the green underlines are wrong. And when I attempt to right click, the only suggestion it has for each word is "never hyphenate."
Later, in the sentence "Various levels of governments, from federal to local, create public social services." it underlines service and suggests I change it to repairs or serves. That is clearly not what I want.
Anyone know what's going on?

It can be unbelievably frustrating.
I have just been through an exercise in headbutting a brickwall, trying to get uneven columns in a textbox. Something that should have taken only a few seconds, sends you off trying to fix problems that never should have been problems in the first place, and totally diverts you from the work at hand.
It really is amazing how badly they have programmed it. 95% hit and miss!

A lot of times I would have to reset Safari while I do this and then it might work afterwards, I just find it annoying and time consuming, sometimes I might have to reboot my machine as well. Not sure whether it's an OS issue or an issue with Word that the system doesn't like word too much. I get the spinning ball and I have to do a hard force quit using my keyboard in order to stop the browser when it stops responding, then go ahead and reset safari like I stated previously.

I have tried Opera, which is somewhat better but it crashes if I have to look for the file within the system like with Safari, it will by default look on the desktop, if I try to change it to documents for example that's when it can go crazy, with Opera it will by default open in documents but say if I wanted to change it to desktop to look for the file, it can go loopy. Looks like it either the browser or OS doesn't like changing different folders to upload files.
How's Firefox on a Mac? is it better than on Windows?

Word 2013 English Proof Reading Tool

I am using Word of Office 365 to type English document, it does not show proof reading alert.
I clicked into the Word Options and checked the Language, and I found that 'English' proofing tool is 'not installed.'
I clicked the provided link and downloaded the English proofing tool, closed the Word and reopen it, no changes at all.
Then I read the 'English Proofing Tools suddenly missing and WON'T install-Office 2013' in your website. I followed the advice given by your staff. I quote the instruction provided by your staff as follows:-
"Click on Start > Control Panel > Control Panel > double-click Programs and Features > Click Microsoft Office 2010 Edition >
click Change > In the Microsoft Office Edition dialog
box > click Add or Remove Features > Continue > Expand Office Shared Features > click the icon to the left of Proofing Tools > then click Run all from My Computer > Continue."
It worked yesterday BUT today when i want to open a word document, it is opened in Word 2010 but not Word of Office 365. When I open the Word of Office 365, no English proofing tool. I did the whole thing once again this morning but it
does not work.
Please do not ask me to goto other forum and please do not ask me to read the 'Plan for Multilanguage Deployment of Office 2013' I have done it and cannot resolve the problem, please give me advice.

I have the same issue and run both 365 and Word 2010. On another computer this works fine

In gmail the spell checker underlines the ends of words that are spelled correctly. Annoying at best.

running firefox 16.0.1 on pc with windows 7. This seems to have started with new version upgrade. In gmail the spell checker highlights last parts of words that are spelled correctly.

Yes, it appears the X1600 has more than its fair share of issues. I've seen reports of people reflowing the solder joints on/around the GPU with success, even baking the LB in the oven.
The rest is something you'll have to take up with Apple.

Weird problems of figures with word to pdf conversion

Q: I have some wmf format vector figures inserted into word file. When I convert the word file into pdf format using the built-in pdfmaker button in the word menu, the vector graphics all become bitmap type. If I use print to pdf commond, the graphics are still vector format. Because I want to retain the Heading markers and other bookmarkers in the converted pdf file, I prefer using the pdfmaker for the conversion.
Does anyone know how to fix it? it used to work in my old computer with acrobat 8 and word 2003. Not sure whether it is a compatability issue.

You may want to be open to issues of WORD 2007, particularly if using a docx format. It may not be the issue you are having, but I have found problems with WORD itself for graphics. In some cases, it will take a nice graphic and split it into parts when creating a PDF. I am not sure what all the issues are, but WORD 2007 seems to be part of the problem, not just Acrobat. In fact, I have seen WORD take a vector graphic and change the fonts to a graphic, rather then leave them as a font in such a graphic - that was with a docx file. I am not saying WORD is the problem, but be open to alternate explanations of what is going on.

Graphic issues in Word 2010 and 2013

The problem is it reformats your original image to fall within this shape below. Everything within that triangle is white and your original image only shows through the remaining part of the oval. I have attached a Word document with a few examples. It cuts
off part of the logo, signatures, etc.
So far, we have found this occurring in 2 situations:
1. .docx is generated in third party application. We open this in Word 2003 and save as .doc. Then if that .doc is then opened by someone else using Word 2010 or 2013, it has this issue.
2. The other situation was just a .doc created (outside of the third party application) that is used as a VBA component. If they open that .doc in Word 2013 it has this issue but other .doc files are fine.
One other note, we can open these files in Word 2003 and 2007 and the images look fine. It only happens when opening in Word 2010 or 2013.
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? I have tested both .tif & .jpg to see if the original image format made a difference and it doesn’t appear to. Unfortunately, it’s impacting tens of thousands of Word docs stored in archive.
I don't see where I could upload a file, but I do have example documents.

I am looking at a web page with highlighted words that are links that open new windows. I don't even click on them and they upen as I pass over them accidentily with the cursor. extremely annoying!what is it called and how can I remove this 'feature'

it is usually one highlighted word that when touched, opens up a small window of related companies or info or websites that I might be interested in. one word "presenter" was highlighted, touched it with my cursor, and I think caught a damaging virus.

Issue with Word 2010

We are facing issue with Word 2010.
User has created a document in Word 2007 and they inserted a symbol °C in Times New Roman and Areal.
Please find below the text which has issue.

In the document, instead of ℃ it is showing blocks, when we open it in MS Word 2010. (Eg: 60℃, 95℃).
We have tried the following.
1.       If we select the square and click on any other font, it will change to °C with formatted font Cambria Math. We can have it by selecting any font.
2.       I have tried to copy the line and paste it to excel/WordPad/notepad
• Excel(2010) : It is displayed properly(°C) but the font was Times New Roman and Arial as the word document has Times New Roman and Arial respectively.
• Notepad: It is displayed properly(°C) but the font was Lucida Console
• WordPad: The symbol is not displayed correctly (Squares and vertical lines). It is having the same issue as we have with word document.
3.       I just selected the whole text and had Ctrl+space , then all the corrupted characters turned to original one (°C with formatted font Cambria Math) : we can use this as a work around.
4.       I have created a word document and I typed °C in that document with fonts Times New Roman ,Arial, SimSun and STKaiti and saved the document. When I opened the document I was able to see °C properly.

For checking the encoding of your documents, please follow below steps:
Rename your documents from xxxx.docx to xxxx.zip
The zip folder will contains basically folders: rels, docProps, word and one [Content_Types].xml
Browse to word, open document.xml file,
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?>,
the first line will suggest the encoding type of the document.
Except checking the encoding difference, could you please do one more thing that is copying the font like

Yes, I'm quite aware that the wiki exists. The reason I'm writing it here is that the GUI frontends will probably come quite soon, and overall this is an early version. I don't see a reason to contribute this to the wiki when it will probably be unneeded and out-of-date relatively soon.

Is it possible for pages spell check to not flag words that are found on wikipedia?

I'm using Pages 5.2.2 in OSX 10.9.5 and type lots of medical and science words into pages. These words are not found in the default dictionary and are thus flagged as misspelled words (red underline). They are found on wikipedia and I have enabled wikipedia in the dictionary app. For instance, the word "epiglottitis" is flagged. When I right click on it and select "Look up 'epiglottitis'", the dictionary popup opens and the word is found.
Is there a way to adjust the spell check settings so that it does not flag words that it can find on Wikipedia? If this could be done in iOS as well, it would be fantastic. Thanks!

Thanks! I also discovered that I can add dictionaries for the spellchecker in "Library > Spelling" and then go to "System Preferences > Keyboard > Text > Spelling > Set up..." and select them there, so that may be a faster way to add words to the spellchecker.

Request for program proof reading

Hey guys I have a project Im working on and Ive just gotten into methods and in general I seem to be getting them to work but Im having trouble when the methods are sharing between non-main classes. My wording of that is a little strange but I think if someone would be willing to look at the project, especially when I try to transfer values between the Enemy to the Fight class you might be able to understand what Im saying. Are you doing this for a class or to try to learn on your own? I've peeked at it (what can I say, I'm a masochist), and it's a nice start, but it can be improved upon. In fact you should rethink your object design from the ground up.
First off, you need to think of your objects as physical entities, entities that have characteristics can do things and can interact with other objects. For instance, you need a Player class that represents the character controlled by the person playing the game. A player object will hold all of its own characteristics, will be able to fight other enemy objects, will be able to be manipulated by the user. You probably need to have an Enemy class, and then subclass this into the various different kinds of enemy such as Troll, Black Knight, and minion.... etc. You might want to have a Game object, an object that holds the player, the enemy, and controls the flow of the game.
You would do well to buy and read a good book on OOP design.

Topics shown in Search results that shouldn't show

When I preview the compiled help file and do a search for a
word it's displaying topics that I don't want to show. These topics
are not in the TOC and are not Indexed.
I inherited our co's Tech Writer position so I'm learning
about RH by trial and error. I'm using RH7. The help files were
created in RH 5 (or earlier) but had to install RH7 on Vista.
While working on an existing RH Help file I have a few topics
that were mistakes, from me experimenting, or are the old one's
that I'm updating and changing. In either case I thought I could
leave them hidden inside just as a safety measure or to refer back
to. I assumed if they weren't put into TOC or Indexed than they
shouldn't show to the outside world. When I search on a word that's
either in the topic title or in the text those topics are listed.
Can I prevent them from showing in Search? They don't show in
TOC and they don't show in the Index. Is my only option to delete
them? I've looked all through the Topic properties and don't find a
solution.

Hi Jim. If you want to exclude topics or even parts of topics
from Search, it takes a bit more than excluding them from the TOC
and Index. Take a look at Build Tags. They are a simple way to
identify topics or content within topics to be excluded from your
build, or conversely, to be included as needed if you compile
multiple "flavors" of your Help. Build tags are used in conjunction
with a build statement you create as you generate your output. If
you can't get going from the Help info on build tags, holler
back.

Weird Driver swap issue since 10.4.10 install

hey all hows it going.
i have a weird issue that i believe is a video driver issue. im actually a system administrator for a company so this is kind of fustrating not knowing how to fix something, so i turn to you guys!
ok so i have a imac g5 17" pc i've had since around 2003-4 now.. and the issue is that the display keeps alternating between 800X600 to the proper native resolution by itself randomly.
i have done a re-install of osx 10.4 and repatched to no avail, i have repaired permissions to the disc, i have started osx in safe mode and got it to rebuild the basic windows.preferences.plist file to no avail.
and then i noticed something. the specs on my mac had changed slightly since the 10.4.10 upgrade. i have not made any upgrade changes.
basically, this should be the video card according to apple and my receipt

Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!
First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 30 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that did'nt work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try. Yours is the 10.4.6 Combo update. Others reading, download the Combo that applies to your system.
If that still did'nt get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
For those of you with Macs that are not PowerBooks or iBooks, a bad internal battery can cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!
