Weird right click problem

Okay, this started mid day yesterday, and I can't find any topic on it. When I right click on something (i.e. folder, file, or even the back button in Safari) it acts like a double click. I haven't installed anything new lately other than Quicktime and itunes update this morning. I checked my Keyboard & Mouse setting in the system prefs, and everything looks fine there. Any suggestions?
Oh yeah, I even tried loggin in as a different user and it still happens. Tried running Disk Utility.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that!
Enjoy your Mac

  • They fixed the right click problem, but now there is a bigger problem

after updating, I can use my right click perfectly on Windows XP. however, my windows XP starts to restart very often-which means the "blue-sceen" comes out very often. I believe many poeple has this problem because I had already read couple of complains...Well...I hope apple can fix it soon.

I could not right click on my macbook's Precision aluminum unibody enclosure under windows xp, and after updating the trobubleshooter, it works. However, my windows starts to restart again and again (the blue screen) and it says it is because the applemtp.sys has some problems. I read couple of others people's experiences on the Internet, and they all so it started to happen after they fix the right click problem.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - Creating PDF from explorer (Right-Click) problem

    Hello,
I am new here. I've searched the forums here and maybe I've missed finding the solution.  We recently updated from Acrobat 6 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro, and I can no longer get a PDF to be created in the same folder the Word, Excel or other file is located.
In otherwords, when I use (under Windows Explorer) the right-click option and Convert to Adobe PDF, Acrobat 9 Pro keeps asking me where to save this file!  Under Acrobat 6 Pro, it would just create the file under the same folder unless I specified otherwise.
I have tried to look under the Word 2003 Adobe PDF "Change Conversion Settings" and I do not have the box next to Prompt for Adobe PDF file name checked.
Am I missing something? I would have assumed this simple process would have carried over from Acrobat 6 Pro. I really do not want to go through a bunch of processes just to save the PDF in the same folder. Under Acrobat 6 Pro, this was a simple task. I am not doing anything major, just converting various Word (.doc) files to PDF.
    Thanks.

Using Windows 7, Acrobat 10.0.1, basically the same problem.
Explorer > Right-Click > Convert to Adobe PDF
brings up the Save As dialog and if you'll notice the path in the address bar at the top, it defaults to the last folder in which you created a PDF.
In the Save As dialog, browse to the folder in which you want to save the PDF then click the Save button. This folder will stay in effect until you change it by browsing to a different one in the Save As dialog.
Using Acrobat X, I tried everything I could think of to get a fast, efficient way of converting multiple files to PDF (with the same name and in the same folder as the source files) and, unfortunately, the method described above seems to be the fastest. I tried drag and drop to an Adobe PDF printer shortcut and that didn't work at all--it did nothing! In Acrobat X, File > Create > Batch Create Multiple Files will present a dialog with options for saving to the same folder and keeping the same name as the source file, although it seems like the files process slower in addition to having to click 8 times (not counting selecting the files) before the process begins.
I fervently hope that Adobe will change Explorer > Right-Click > Convert to Adobe PDF back to automatically saving to the same folder as the source document.

  • Acrobat 9 - right click problem

I recently encountered some problems with IE8 and removed and reinstalled it.
I am now no longer able to right-click from within a web page and see 'convert to pdf'.
There is a pdf on the toolbar but the right-click menu is missing what I use quite often.
    I have Acrobat 9.3
    Windows Vista Business
    IE8

You may have to reinstall. It may also be that the fix of IE caused the macro of the PDF viewer to be locked out. Anyway, some thoughts for this day.

  • Mighty Mouse (BlueTooth) Right Click Problem

Many times when I right click on the mouse, nothing happens.
If I move the tab (on back on mouse) covering the blue tooth signal, apple reports mouse not found. The mouse then is found and my right click function works. I did this to reset the mouse to solve the problem but it does not make it a permanent solution.
Do I have a defective mouse or is this a normal behavior with this mouse. I have used other mice before on Windows PC and no other wireless mice exhibits this behavior.

"Laser illumination is considered more superior " ???
Yes, I'm a 20+ year veteren of many Apple mice.
Laser is clearly the superior choice over the optical in the MM.
MM skips with detail moves, this Logitech mouse is precise and smooth.
The Logitech mouse is wireless and has it's own combination charger stand/bluetooth(?) reciever that just plugs into a USB port. No batteries to worry about. Plus it's more egronomic and one can do a right click and a left click at the same time, unlike a MM.
Apple's MM (in both forms) is clearly inferior, I've been through two already since they have been out. Being the Apple loyalist I am, I gave it a second try. But I need to get some work done without having to fight a greasy scroll pea and gunked up rollers with MM.
In this hardware case Apple has been clearly bested, perhaps it was intentional, who knows? Apple's MM just plain under-performs.
I'm almost positive you'll be happy with this Logitech brand/type of mouse.
I'm sure if you shop around you can find it on sale, I did for about $30. A fraction of what a wireless MM would cost you.

  • Magic mouse right click problem in Mountain Lion

    Hi!
My Magic mouse right-click doesn't work in Mountain Lion! in previous OSes it was working properly (Leopard and Lion), but when I upgrated to Mountain, this problem occured.
if you click anywhere on the magic mouse, it simply do a click, not a right-click anyway...
I did a lot of searches and changes but the problem is still alive...
somewhere suggested disabling "Secondary Click", then restart, and then enabling it. but nothing changed...
somewhere suggested to remove two files named "com.apple.Bluetooth..." in /Library/Preferences, and then restart the system, but this not worked for me, too...
I changed the "Secondary Click" to "Click on the left side" but nothing changed and the magic mouse did just clicking and not right-clicking!
I wondered what can I really do to solve this problem?!
    any suggestion is appreciated...

I still use the magic-mouse and still it's not stable. I've found theONLY way to overcome the rightclick is to make sure that you're NOT pressing anywhere else on the mouse (even touching) and only pressing at theTOP right-hand most corner.
It's not the best resolution, but the best that Applecare could provide me with. I thinjk, because it's relatively new due to the new generation of capacitive touch devices that we all get the bugs/flaws.
As like the iPhone, although an EXCELLENT device, and the various versions of OSX, we're going to be plagued eith bugs until a newer review comes out.
The way I found out was to use BOTH tools (MagicPrefs and BetterTouchTool) together, and in both set the Rightclick sensitive area to a near nothing for system wide (non app specific).
It does fail at times on some apps, and takes a few clicks, but 90% of the time it's cleared up.
I somehow think that most developers (and yes its the developers not apple) that forget that we rest out palms on the mouse) and they don't filter out the events forrectly (i.e. a palm on the mouse is seen as a tap). Othere works well, for exmaple I use photoshop, which adapted well to the mouse. The majority of games, and including those (ESPECUALLY THOSE) flash mbased, don't like the mouse at all!

  • Right click problem with Magic Mouse

I wasn't sure where to post this. Whenever I click using the right click, I get a contextual menu instead of whatever the right click was supposed to do. This is a dumb example, but for instance, playing minesweeper, the right click is supposed to create a flag on the space, but in stead I get the menu drop down. Does anybody know how to fix this? I don't think I always had this problem, but now it happens all the time.

I came here searching for my mom, and this is the same issue she is having. Oddly enough, she is specifically having trouble with a Minesweeper type game lol I was also thinking it is not actually a mouse problem because she can't control/command click either. I think she's only had the problem in Safari, should we be looking in the Safari forum? Oh, she has a brand new (2 months?) iMac with the i3 Intel chip.

  • Right Click Problems With Flash

Sometimes when I click anywhere within a Flash object it will be like I'm right clicking. I'll have to refresh the page several times to make the error go away.
According to software update, I do not require any updates.

I thought I was the only one having this problem.
I've been looking around the internet and it seems to be an issue with the newest version of flash.
If someone could post instructions on downgrading to a version of flash that will not have this issue, that would be most appreciated.

  • I have this weird right-click popup menu that displayes all of the options for FF:

So sometimes when I right-click my mouse button this popup menu with all the options possible comes up... I have a picture if you need.
P.S. It's not an addon or plugin; this happens to my friends computers and new Firefox installations too.

This issue can be caused by an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Safari 3.1's right click problem opening links in new tabs

For those of us who use a two-button mouse and like to open links in new tabs, Safari 3.1 has introduced problems that didn't previously exist. Right-click to open a new tab, then go back to the original document, and the problem appears. The mouse cursor no longer underlines links that are scrolled over. That makes it hard to tell if links are live or not. To restore that capacity, you have to left click somewhere on the page. Only then does normally underlining resume.
A minor thing, but one that adds dozens of clicks to my day that weren't there before. Is there any way to avoid it?

I have exactly the same problem, and i dont know what could be the reason. i tried different things, reapir permissions, reinstall Safari, clear the cache without any result. also if the link has a floating/bubble window (or what), it freezes too, and have to click somewhere else into the page to clear them. very annoying. =(
...on Windows it works correctly by the way...

  • Right Click problems with Mac

My girlfriend's iMac has started to act weird. The right click function has been altered. I can't quite figure out what this new function actually is, in adobe products it removes all the toolbars, in Safari it says the "Mac right click doesn't work", any where else it just gives an overlay of yellow. She needs to hold "Command" key for the right click to work properly.
We've tried different mice, reset her mouse and keyboard settings and tried to set a particular behavior for the right click. Nothing has worked.
Has anyone come across this or anything similar?
    Thanks in advanced

Hey roam, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I've tried that and still no beans. I've tried multiple "windows" mice, so I do get that using command is one way, but what I don't get is why the right click has been hijacked by this other command.
Just to reiterate, I have tried to restore every setting I can for keyboard and mouse and have tried to explicitly set the behavior for right-click. All result in the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Right click problem: I did not know about the Yahoo sidebar issue, I have removed all toolbars from my browser from 'view' menu. There is nothing in my 'extensions' to disable. Right click is not working. What to do?

Right clicking is not working on any of the websites. I read up that it's a Yahoo sidebar issue. But, in my extentions, Yahoo sidebar is not there. I had removed all toolbars, but from 'view' menu. Now how do I get my right click to work?

  • S400u secondary right click problem WIN 8.1

    Hi,
i just upgraded my system to win 8.1 and suddenly my secondary right click (with two fingers) isnt working. And so some other gestures on clickpad. I downloaded latest drivers from official source (i tried both Lenovo and Synaptics), but nothing changed. In device settings seems everything fine too.
    Any advice? Thanks a lot!

Hi svetlikova, welcome to the forums,
    you are not alone, this seems to have been an issue with multiple systems resulting in threads accross the different boards here, here's one example with a solution from the IdeaPad notebooks board;
