Weird socket bug, 'Error #2031: Socket Error'

I'm putting together an application which opens a connection
to a server, sends a chunk of binary data and then closes the
connection. When I run the application without handing
IOEventError, I get the socket error message below but the data
sends. When I handle IOEventError, I get the same message passed to
the handler but no data is sent. When I capture TCP data during the
connection, you can that without the handler a '[PSH, ACK]' packet
of length 29 (my data) is sent out. With the handler, a '[FIN]'
packet is sent instead. I've pasted the errors, code and TCP
traffic below.
Has anyone else encountered this socket weirdness? How do I
figure out what this error message means?
Thanks for the help!

Having spent three days trying to run this down, I'm going to start by saying that I'm honestly surprised no ones put together a page that says, "Oh hey, before you use XML sockets here's 150 things you need to know first."  Or maybe someone did put that page together but I couldn't find it.  So in the interest of saving someone the big hassle I just had, here's what you might be doing wrong.
Start here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/action_scripts/actionscript_dictionary/actionscript_dic tionary860.html
Then have a look at this, particularly the example:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/net/XMLSocket.html
Now you might be tempted to skip all of the adding of those event listeners, but if you do if any kind of communication problem arises in the connection Flash won't know how to handle it and you'll get Error #2031 or #2044 or both.
But wait, that's not all!  You also have to come up with some way to let the PLAYER (not your application, not the sever) know that it's allowed to communicate on the port, and for that you need this document:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/socket_policy_files.html
Seriously, if this helps you, please let me and Adobe know.

  • Double Float Margin Bug "error"

    I did a browser compatibility check on one of the pages that
    I am building and got this error.............
    "Line 112, Double Float Margin Bug 'error'
    When a margin is applied to a floated box on the same side as
    the direction of the float, the margin is doubled. This bug only
    affects the first float in a row of one or more floats.
    Affects: Internet Explorer 6.0
    Likelihood: Very Likely"
    I have many thumbnails for a gallery page in their own divs,
    within the content div, and they are floated in there.
    When I viewed solutions, they suggested:
    "When a margin is applied to a floated box on the same side
    as the direction the box is floated AND the floated box is the
    first one inside its containing box, the margin is doubled. (In
    other words, a left-floated box with margin-left set to move it
    away from its containing box will be twice as far away from the
    left edge of the containing box as intended.)
    SOLUTION
    Specify display: inline; for the affected float.
    DETAILED DESCRIPTION
    This bug only reproduces when the floated element's margin
    extends in the same direction as the float itself, and is between
    the float and the container box's inside edge. Subsequent floats
    with similar margins won't reproduce this bug- just the first float
    in any row of floated elements."
    Does anyone have any solutions, suggestions as how to fix
    this? I will attach my code. And if anyone has a better solution as
    to laying my thumbnail divs in another div container, please say
    so. The reason I am putting them in separate divs is because that
    is what someone suggested to use them with Lightbox2. He said they
    needed some kind of special CSS to enable some of the functions and
    they (the thumbnails) were easier to style if they were in their
    own separate divs. I'm open for any suggestions.
    Thanks!

    Just add "display:inline" to the styling like this:
    .image {
    background-color: #121922;
    height: 100px;
    width: 100px;
    float: left;
    margin: 20px;
    display: inline;
    }

  • Java Embedding Weird XML Node Error

    Ok, I am going crazy. I have a java embedding node that takes a date string in, changes it to a different format and creates another date that contains the current time. if I run this in java to code run ok and there are no issues. At the end of the java I print out the string and they are exactly what I want. The thing that is going on is when I set the 2 string BPEL variables in the java embedding, when I try to reference them the 2nd time,I get a weird node object error. I get through the first pass ok. when I try to reference Test1 or Test2 on the 2nd pass I get the error below. Its like when I set the variable currentDB2UpdateDate and currentDB2CurrTimeDate it does something to them. Instead of setting it to just the string it seems to set it to some kind of object.
    I have 3 steps here. Assign -> Java Embedding -> Assign.
    Assign 1 => Initialize 2 String variables to X.
    <code>
    <assign name="Assign_2">
    <copy>
    <from expression="string('X')"/>
    <to variable="currentDB2UpdateDate"/>
    </copy>
    <copy>
    <from expression="string('X')"/>
    <to variable="currentDB2CurrTimeDate"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    </code>
    Java Embedding =>
    <code>
    String currentFileDate = (String)getVariableData("currentFileDate");
    String currentDate = "";
    try
    SimpleDateFormat sdfSource = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    Date date = sdfSource.parse(currentFileDate);
    SimpleDateFormat sdfDestination = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss");
    currentFileDate = sdfDestination.format(date);
    catch(ParseException pe)
    System.out.println("Parse Exception : " + pe);
    try
    Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss");
    currentDate = sdf.format(cal.getTime());
    catch(Exception pe)
    System.out.println("Parse Exception : " + pe);
    System.out.println("currentFileDate : " + currentFileDate.toString());
    System.out.println("currentDate : " + currentDate.toString());
    setVariableData("currentDB2UpdateDate",currentFileDate);
    setVariableData("currentDB2CurrTimeDate",currentDate);
    </code>
    Assign 3 =>
    <code>
    <assign name="Assign_1">
    <copy>
    <from variable="currentDB2UpdateDate"/>
    <to variable="Test1"/>
    </copy>
    <copy>
    <from variable="currentDB2CurrTimeDate"/>
    <to variable="Test2"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    </code>
    <code>

    </code>
    The 2nd pass to this throws the following error when trying to set Test1 and Test2 again... Its like it is setting the variable to an object and not just the string. I tried using toString() in the setVariable too and it didn't work. I don't get it.

    I am also facing a similar issue.There is selection failure in assignment to local variable of BPEL .
    PFB the logs :
    parts: {{
    summary=&amp;lt;summary&amp;gt;Invalid to part type.
    When performing the assign operation, the to node false is invalid.
    The node named in the error message was either null or an empty node set, and it was not an instance of org.w3c.Element.
    Verify the node value at line number 3577 is not null and is an instance of org.w3c.Element.
    &amp;lt;/summary&amp;gt;}
    Here is the code:
    <copy>
    <from expression="xpath20:add-dayTimeDuration-to-dateTime($calculatednpexectime,'P200YT')"/>
    <to variable="calculatednpexectime"/>
    </copy>
    It seems as if Oracle is not accepting the date format .
    Is there some issue with local variables of new version of BPEL ??

    Hi
    I was wondering if there is a way to check/test if

    can somebody tell me ??
    Thanks.I would trust that the JRE is basically bug free (it is never completely bug free, or there wouldn't be minor update versions).
    If it has bugs, what kind of programming code would you think would find them, when the buggy VM would be running that code, possibly incorrectly due to the bug in the first place?
    Your question is a bit backwards. If you're going to worry about VM bugs, then you'd better be a whole lot more worried about the OS too.

    ERROR: floating-point constants should not appear

    HI,
    it seems that ur using the package "org.javabluetooth.stack.BluetoothStack" in WTK1.0 or 2.0 which does not support floating point. The above package uses float data type. You can download the new version of WTK (2.1) which supports floating points.

  • Stacks weird visual bug

    Hi,
    I'm running Leopard 10.5.3 on a 1Ghz iMac G4 which came with a GeForce4 MX graphics card. I've been using stacks from the beginning (and loving it) but every time I use it, a weird visual bug is triggered; basically white semi-transparent rectangles appear along the edges. You can find a screenshot of this at http://picasaweb.google.com/luis.beca/StacksBug/photo#5206710255993309346. Any clues as to why this is happening or how to solve it?
    I should point out that I have been stuck with this problem from the very beginning, not just the latest Leopard version 10.5.3. I have an Intel MacBook Pro where this is not an issue.
    Many thanks in advance

    PS - How can I submit this to Apple?

    I think you can thank Apple for this.  See this discussion.

  • Weird subtitle bugs

    I'm running into several weird subtitle bugs in Encore 2.0. My project is a 33 minute training video with 4 subtitle tracks - English, Chinese, Spanish and Russian. I know the project was initially created in 1.5, but I don't remember if the subtitles were imported before or after the conversion.
    The first is that some of the subtitles that have been edited are showing the original version of the subtitle. In most cases, if I go back to the edited version in the timeline and add a space at the end, it seems to update to the new version of the subtitle.
    The other issue is that in many cases, the subtitles are staying on the screen longer than they should be. In one instance, the subtitle stayed on the screen for about 15 seconds more than it should.
    Any comments or suggestions?
    This will be the last project for me in Encore - I just can't afford to spend multiple days working around Encore and its "features"
    Thanks,
    David

    Experienced the same subtitling "bugs" you described.
    Opened a ver. 1.5 project in ver. 2. Then once in ver. 2, I revised some text in several subtitle clips. The revisions were displayed o.k. during preview, but when I built a new DVD Volume from ver.2, and tested the playback in WinDVD software player, it was the "old" subtitles that were displayed!!!!!
    Apparently, the Encore 2 programmers overlooked a crucial subroutine in their coding. If i'm not mistaken, when you type-in or edit a subtitle clip, the program module that runs is something like a wordprocessor that works with the native fonts and formatting; the text in a subtitle clip is later rendered by Encore as a masked bitmap file overlaid onto the main video when you turn on the subtitles when you build the DVD volume (it's like in Photoshop where a text layer will be editable until you rasterize it, in which case the "text" becomes a bitmap image which you can no longer text-edit). I guessed that the edited subtitle clips were not being re-rendered by Encore. So, to work around this, I created/added new subtitle clips next to the "old" one and re-typed the text with the incorporated revisions, then deleted the "old" clip and repositioned the recently added/created clip. Afterwards, the subtitles with the corrected text displayed properly when I played back a re-built DVD volume.
    But although this "work-around" works, it would simply be too bothersome if you had to revise hundreds of subtitle clips!!!!! A situation I later found myself confronted with!
    What I did, then, was I duplicated the original subtitle track (which Encore failed to re-render properly) on which I had done the revisions; then, once the duplicate subtitle track had been pasted by Encore on the timeline, I deleted the original track and re-built a new DVD Volume. This time, all the revised subtitle clips were displayed correctly when I played back the volume in the software DVD player.
    Nevertheless, I hope Adobe becomes aware of this bug and implement the appropriate fixes.

    Running SQL Server 2008 v10.0.2766 on a Windows 2003 R2 X64. The SQL Server instances (2 per side)are part of an active-active cluster. We are seeing the following series of errors generated from our agent jobs:

    Any ideas what is going on and what these errors mean?
    Thanks -
    Mike

    Hi ShoelessMike,
    Based on my research, the error message ("The semaphore timeout period has expired") probably comes from Network/Socket layer and is not directly related to SQL. All
    your network activity would fail at that time.
    And error 121 usually means a network NIC problem.
    To fix this issue, could you please check the following article if it applies to you.

    I'm getting an error message when trying to install the Oracle Rdb Extension (7.3).
    I'm not sure if that extension has been upgraded for sql developer 4. Extensions written for previous versions won't work in sql developer 4 - they need to be modified to support the OSGI framework.
    Leave the thread open until one of the sql developer team members can answer this.
    Here is the note from the sql developer exchange home page
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/extensions-083825.html
    Special Note Regarding Extensions Developed Prior to SQL Developer
    v4.0:
    With the new release of SQL
    Developer 4.0, an extension that was written for a previous version of SQL
    Developer will no longer work. SQL Developer is built on the JDeveloper
    Framework. We have updated the framework to be current with the JDeveloper 12c
    release. With JDeveloper 11gR2, they switched to an OSGI framework. The JDeveloper team has published instructions for updating your extensions to be compatible with
    the new framework and SQL Developer v4.0.
    The Check for Updates interface
    has been updated to hide any 3rd party extensions to avoid confusion with
    extensions not loading. Once you have updated your extension for version 4 and
    beyond, let us know, and we'll update the system to make it available again. For
    questions regarding the process of going from the old to new framework, we have
    started a dedicated
    thread on the Forums. You can also email the Product Manager, Jeff Smith, to
    setup a call with one of our developers for additional assistance.
    As that note says if that extension is NOT for version 4 it shouldn't show up on the list of updates.

    Using a java decompiler, I've been able to locate the method setVariableResolver() in the ADFContext class which ServletADFContext.java extends. This can be found in the adfshare.jar. So I have no idea why the server can't find this method when I know it exists. I thought maybe I had an old adfshare.jar and so I replaced it everywhere I found it on the app server with the jar file that comes with JDev 10.1.3 EA. But this proved to be a dead end, as well as everything else I've tried. I've even tried reinstalling the app server. Has anyone else installed App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on a Linux box? Is there some qwerk that you found to get it working?
    Additionally I have created a very simple project with nothing but a JSP and it works. So I'm led to believe that there is some ADF JAR file that is not quite right. My ADF Struts web project worked using the same app server on Windows 2003. However I ran into a different problem with that: BUG - Connection pooling with 10g 10.1.3 Preview 4 App Server
    So we have decided to make the move to Linux but I can't get past this error. I have updated the ADF Runtime Libraries and I've swapped out the JDK and JRE with 1.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The adfshare.jar does not get included with my app. I've checked my WAR file and this JAR is not found there. I'm completely stumped at this point. Have you had success using Oracle App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on Linux?
    I have made some progress narrowing down where the error occurs. When I add data bindings to a JSP, the following code gets added to my web.xml:
       <filter>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
         <init-param>
           <param-name>encoding</param-name>
           <param-value>windows-1252</param-value>
         </init-param>
       </filter>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
       </filter-mapping>
    If I delete this code out of my web.xml file, that error message goes away. The ADFBindingFilter class is also included in the error stacktrace. So I'm thinking that this class is the culprit. I'm convinced this is a BUG with Oracle ADF and Linux.
    Another idea perhaps is that the error occurs because I'm developing in JDeveloper on Windows and then deploying to an app server on Linux. My embedded server on Windows runs my app just fine. I have the same OS setup for JDev 10.1.2 and the app server 10.1.2 and I have no problems with that. But I really don't want to have to go back to 10.1.2.

  • LV2011 bug - Error wired to boolen function breaks when saving for previous version

    I just downloaded LabVIEW 2011 this morning. I created this VI and saved it for LV2010 to see how it would deal with it. I opened the VI in LabVIEW 2010SP1 and the error wire is broken. There were no warnings about problems saving this VI as an earlier version.
    =====================
    LabVIEW 2012
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I would not consider this to be a "bug".
    I would call it rather an "incomplete feature" were the extra-mile (backwards compatibility) is not fully implemented. So filing a suggestion is really the best thing to do (i will not file one since it is your idea, but i will kudo it!).
    Saving VIs to previous versions does not change the BD itself. The requested functionality would require BD analysis and inserting (per scripting) an unbundle into the error wire. This is a complete new functionality, at least i am not aware that this is happening anywhere else....
    As a "part time solution" i would like to see a BD analyzer which warns you about possible issues during downconvert. So in your case an "errorlist entry" like:
    Warning: Connecting the error cluster to boolean functions is a new feature to LV 2011. Saving for previous version will lead to a broken VI.
    just my 5 cents,

  • Crop Marks not in correct place when Bleed applied - possible Bug/Error?

    Apologies if anyone has posted this elsewhere - I checked the Help, FAQ, Forums and Googled it - but I really can't find a solution to this minor problem I'm having.
    I have created a document that will be cut to 120mm x 120mm, I wanted to include a 10mm bleed around it so I made my Photoshop doc 140mm x 140mm.
    When I go to the Print dialogue I have checked "Corner Crop Marks", set the bleed to 10mm and in the preview I can see that the crop marks are inside the image, marking out the correct 120x120 area. However, when I click Print the marks appear on the paper at the 140mm x 140mm area.
    Has anyone else had this error, and even more importantly, has anyone found a solution?
    I am using Photoshop CS3 (a site license of Web Premium), on a Mac G5 running Windows XP SP2. I have other machines & Photoshop versions available, I am going to test it on them to try and find out where the problem lies.
    I am producing guides to using Photoshop at the moment and I don't want to include something that can't be done!

    Wow... I'm using Photoshop CS5 for Windows and have just encountered this very same problem. The print preview shows the corner crop marks in the correct location as designated by the Bleed... setting (.1"); but when I print, the bleed setting gets ignored and the corner crop marks revert to the outer edges of the image.
    This happens when I print to my Epson color laser or to my Brother b/w laser. It occurred to me to try one other test - and interestingly enough, when I printed to a PDF, the corner marks appeared correctly in the output!
    So far, I haven't found any other information on this apparent bug besides this ancient thread.
    Anyone willing to test this out and give their results? Thanks!

  • Compressor 3.5.3 and OS 10.9.3 kernel bug/error.

    Since I upgraded my Late 2009 iMac to 10.9.3, specific tasks appear to delay. When I check my Activity Monitor: kernel_task takes up 400-800MB of RAM and I have two instances of both Compressord and Qmastertaskd running as red and (not responding). I tried killing them. They only restarted, again not responding.
    Compressor appears to work fine, I tested on an audio file. I did hear there might be some Compression errors related to 10.9.3, but I didn't see them when I just converted an audio file. I know Compressor 3.5.3 is an old version, and eventually will be unsupported. If this is the case, there should be a notification somewhere. There was when 10.8 stopped supporting FCP 6. If this is a bug that somehow conflates the Qmaster and compressor codes, I hope there is a fix. The kernel task bloat doesn't bother me on the iMac much, but if this is doesn't have a fix, I can't upgrade my editing machine to 10.9.3.
    I never had an issue on 10.9.2, so I don't know what this could be. Compressor still runs fine, so I don't even really understand what Compressord is doing.

    Sorry about the months I failed to respond. I need to sort out my email issues. Maybe I'll do that with Yosemite. My iMac has 4GB of RAM, but my problem wasn't high use, it was just freezing compressord, and rather than force quit quitting it, it would just start a new one. After I upgraded to 10.9.5, I never noticed this problem, I don't think. And I've used Compressor 3.5 just fine in Yosemite, so whatever it was, I think it was settled.
