    Hello!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • Weird sound from MacBook Pro 2011

I have a weird sound that occasionally occurs from my Late 2011 13" MacBook Pro. The sound comes from the left side of the base, towards the hinge. The timing is random, usually when sitting by itself idle with the lid open. It has occured when the charging cable is both connected and disconnected. Performing a restart does not cause it to stop, it will continue thru the restart. Shutting down completely does shut it up, but it'll likely appear shortly after booting up. Closing the lid of the MBP will shut up the sound, and if left closed for a couple hours, the sound doesn't appear for awhile.
The sound itself is pretty loud, and can easily drown out my TV when it kicks in. I don't think it's the fan, as I've heard the fan on full tilt and it's still quiet, unlike this noise I am referring to. Plus, the fan is located in the center against the hinge, not on the left where the noise is coming from. I tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM, no luck. I did record the sound with my cell phone, here is a video of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgutF9bZilI
If anyone has an idea of what is causing this sound, please help. Thank you.

Does the sound, or it's basis, interfere with operation of the MBP in any way?  When the lid is closed it is in sleep mode so one would expect the sound to stop then.
Best thing might be a visit to the Apple store genius bar to have the techs test it.

  • N95 hissing noise from ear-piece

Me too, I am suffering from this annoying noice when I am in call, it is not extremely digusting but I could not enjoy while using my N95 to make a call!!
    Dear Nokia,
I observed that the hissing noice from the ear-piece will be gone once the screen is in the screen saver mode, i.e. when the time & date horizontal bar is shown.
I tried to press a key to cause the screen back to standby mode, i.e. the main screen, then the noise comes back.
Wait for a while and let it back to screen saver mode, noise is gone again.
This might be something can be fixed with firmware upgrade (I hope my assumption is right) and I will be glad if the noise will disappear in V13 firmware (if any).
    Thanks.

I don't think that hissing is the earpiece. Mine makes funny noises too. Its the screen. Whenever the screen is lit it makes a noise. I think thats the power going through it. I had a motorola v3i and that did the same. Whenever the screen light went off like in standby mode it stopped humming. My N95 is the same. Its normal. Your computer or laptop screen hums when the screen is lit too. It just means its working and has power going through it.
Its not who i am underneath. But what i do that defines me.

  • Weird sound from laptop (GP60)

Hey, guys! I have a question about my laptop that I'm hoping one of you might be able to answer.
So I have a GP60 laptop that I bought manufacturer-refurbished. So far, I love this laptop! I'm glad that I can actually do some form of gaming again! But I have a slight hiccup with this computer that kind of concerns me.
Occasionally, my computer will emit a weird noise. It's very brief, lasting maybe half a second, but it sounds like the weird electronic noise out of Slenderman. Even when I have my headphones plugged in, it will still make the noise outside of them. I don't think its a motherboard issue-- my last computer actually did have a problem similar to this and it really was the motherboard, but the sound and manifestation of this is a bit different. I've opened up my task manager and watched it while I'm doing stuff, and I've noticed a pattern of sorts.
It will only occur under one of two-ish conditions:
    - If I'm either streaming/playing music [mostly when I'm either using Pandora, Spotify, or the windows music app (NOT WMP)].
    - If I'm playing a taxing game (I play minecraft quite a bit though and it's rarely happened then. However, I was playing SWTOR to test my theory and it started doing it again)
It may have happened once or twice outside of those circumstances, but I don't really remember. Also, each weird sound is accompanied by a spike in my CPU processing. It'll spike to anywhere in the 75-100% usage range. I haven't really noticed any drop in performance per se, but I'm just concerned that this could be a sign of a bigger problem. I was very hesitant to get a refurb, and I'm concerned that this could be the start of my worst dream come true. I have two theories: it could either be the motherboard (again, wah) or maybe my sound driver... but I have no clue to be honest with you. I would appreciate any ideas/help that could be offered!
    Specs:
    MSi GP60
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Intel core i5-4200M
    Nvida GeForce GT 740M/2GB DDR3
    SoundBlaster Cinema/AudioBoost
    Memory: DDRIII (L) 8GB
    HDD: 750 GB

I guess it's the electrical interference from CPU too, when it switches the state.
If you're not using Bluetooth or WiFi, disable them as well to see if this improves.

  • Weird sound from x201 keyboard

recently i've found a weird problem with my x201 keyboard. when i press down on the area where the escape key is or around the area where the volume controls are, it will make a plasticy click sound.the sound happens as soon as i let my finger off that part of the keyboard. sometimes when i press that area and let go it takes a while for that part of the keyboard to bounce back up and make the sound. so it sounds like that area of the keyboard stays in place for a while sometimes before it jumps back to the natural position. no i've never spiilled anything on the keyboard. i'm not putting a lot of pressure on that area either. it could happen if i just tap that area of the keyboard. and i've taken the keyboard off but couldn't see anything that could make the sound. any idea how to fix this? is this a problem with the keyboard or the laptop bezel?
also will lenovo just ship me a new keyboard for free if i ask? what number or email address would i have to contact?

    Hi,
Yes, they will ship you new one if you share your keyboard issue with them. Phone number can be looked up from this link:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=migr-4hwse3
    Hope this helps.

  • Weird sounds from fan or hard disk?

    Hi,
I have got my Mac book pro in Nov06 and unfortunately on New Years Eve, i discovered another problem with my 15" MBP.
When i was tilting it and putting it on my lap, the fan started to have weird clicking like sounds. It last only for a few seconds and did not carry on for more. I don't think this is normal.
I have heard my fan working and it does not sound same nor does it seem to come from the same position.
This sound comes from the top left side it sound like a mechanical spring that went loose. I read other forums and they mention it could be is the hard disk it that true?
Could anyone advise please if I could get this fan to change and fixed?
Is currently the Apple diligently conducting their quality checks?
Other than this is the screen. This was fixed now the fan.
How much more common problems can there be and I should look out for.
    Please advise.
    Thanks you all.
    Happy New Year

I had the exact same problem. I was using the macbook on my lap and the fans started clicking. It eventually went away as you mentioned. I have not heard it since. I would not worry about it unless you hear it again.

  • Weird sound from Lumia 820

    Hello,
When I do lock or unlock screen, I hear a very low but noticable sound comes from the speaker at the bottom of the phone and then when I close the phone to my ear there is a tiny wheeze for a few seconds. I just want your opinions whether it is a normal thing or is there something wrong.
    Thanks

There is indeed a sound when you do lock or unlock your phone. To turn this off, you can go to Settings - Ringtones+Sound - Scroll down to 'Play Sound for' and untick Lock & Unlock.
About that wheezing sound, this seems normal to me. Got the same wheezing sound on the Lumia 710 actually.
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

  • Weird sound from back of imac

Hello, my imac was making a weird spinning sound coming from the back for the first time since I purchased it so I shut it down. when I rebooted, I haven't heard the sound again. Is this a sign of a failing harddrive or the fact that leave my computer on a screensaver? The computer was still running great even with the sound but it sounded weird...Do not want to bring the computer to a Genius Bar for nothing if it's just an occasional lag on the HD.

If I hear the noise again, I will definitely bring it in for verification...I guess there's nothing else to do like in the Uitlities...I keep my system updated and I use the Doctor regularly...Is there anything you suggest to keep the enery saver running smoothly...I keep reading mixed opinions about keeping the computer on versus shutting it down alot...

  • IPod got washed... Weird sound from area of lock button.

Ok, so a few days ago, I accidentally washed my IPod 4th gen in the washing machine. *facepalm...* I only got it out after a 45 minute wash. Blindly hoping it still worked, I attempted to turn it on. (Hold power button, press home...) Screen stayed black. Then I went to look on the forums. A lot of people suggested to put it in a rice bag for a week. Problem is, I don't have a week. I'm leaving for a 2-week vacation in 2 days... =/ Soooo, I took the screen/ glass off. I found some droplets water in there, which I wiped up using a Kleenex. Then, I put it in a rice bowl for the night. Next morning, I put the bowl into the hot California sun for 3-4 hours. Finally, I decided to test it. *Gulp!* I plugged it in to a wall charger, and after ~30 seconds, I noticed a sound like bacon frying(mmmmmm =D) quietly coming from the location of the power/lock button. When I felt the area, however, It didn't seem like there was heat emitting from it. then, I unplugged it and wrote this post. What should I do now?

  • (weird sound from ipod

    hi,
1)i jus bought my ipod classic 80g yesterday. but i am facing some problems, can someone help me? well i was was trying to open the games yesterday. but it says error and freezed. no matter what button i pressed, it did not respond so i have to reset it. why did this happen. the ipod is brand new...
    2) the other thing is that when i am using the ipod i can hear sounds coming out from the back of it. the sound is very similar to the computer cpu sound and the cdrom drive sound (but slightly lower in volume). i can't hear the sound when the i am listening to music with the earpiece on(cause the music volume is louder). the sound is quite disturbing. (PS the click wheel sound is off.)
    3) i was charging the ipod with a charger yesterday. its fully charged in less then an hour. after charging, i used the ipod continuously for abt 4 hours and the battery level went down by almost half. what wrong with it? i thought fully charged batt can last up to 30h for ipod classic 80g?
can someone help? thanks in advance. : )

    1. Not sure. Stuff happens.
    2. Is this just the whirr of the hard drive/click of the heads as it reads data? It should settle down once it has read the file you are playing into memory.
    3. The iPod battery meter is a bit eratic. When charging the display will show full after about an hour which is when the the battery has been fast charged to about 80% of max. charge. To achieve max. charge takes about 4 hours. During playback the level of the charge displayed seems to vary up & down depending on what you're doing so I don't pay it too much attention. Battery life will depend on how much time the screen is active - e.g. playing videos, backlight timeout settings & brightness, how much you use the menus etc. I haven't yet managed to make mine run out before I get home at night...

  • Weird sound from the Superdrive on startup

    Well as the subject stats.
When i start my macbook (first gen) either from sleep or just a boot the superdrive make a sound, like it does when you put a cd/dvd into it, its fairly load, just like a loading sound.
Is it suppose to do that?

Yeah thats normal. I think it is just checking to see if a disc is in there but every mac laptop that I have got a chance to work on does that.

  • Regarding the no sound in ear speakers while calling or receiving

My iPhone 5 is a 16GB white A1429 unit, which is Factory Unlocked from Apple canada.  It was working fine for 7 days then suddenly I started experiencing audio problems.
I do not get audio through the ear speaker when trying to make or receive calls.  I can hear audio fine though, when using the speakerphone or the included headset., i tacled that situation by using loud speakers for a few minutes  then after some times its started to work automaticaly
Please note that my phone is NOT stuck on headphone mode as others have experienced.  It's only during voice calls that the ear speaker does not work.
Today again i faced the same issue suddenly while i was on a call, searched in net for a solution, no where i couldnt find a solution, but nw i had a solution with me and the reason too......
just press on the side of the front camera little harder (not with too much pressure) dont break ur iphone, and now u can make a call, u may hear the sound clearly,
Now my Theory:-  i went throuh the infrastructure of iphone, then i came to a conclusion that the iphone 5 internal board less harder than i phone 4 or 4s. The flex cables used inside the iphone are fixed with out any movements (*not like sliding phones), in iphone 5 the mic is just fixxing on the two connecting nodes on the flex to recieve the signals , if there is any dust particles, fungus or any slight movements may create a loosecontact in the system, but it dosent harm the system but only affecting the ear speakers malfunctioning. while pressing on the sides(right side) of the front camera where exactly the speaker connection fixed u are making the speaker back to get in touch with the flex nodes
the above mentioned trick is not a permenent solution
After this i can make calls with out any issues, i dont kno for how many days more i can be with out any serious other issues
Hoping for some input from other out there and hopefully, some type of solution will be provided soon.
Very disappointed that this would happen to a brand new, iPhone.
    Thanks

  • HT3310 I have plugged in ear buds but sounds doesn't come from ear buds.  How do I toggle soundsto ear buds

how do I get sounds from ear buds?

Have you tried another set of ear buds? You need to make sure the plug is pushed all the way in to engage the jack. Also, cleaning out the jack may be a good idea.
