2) the other thing is that when i am using the ipod i can hear sounds coming out from the back of it. the sound is very similar to the computer cpu sound and the cdrom drive sound (but slightly lower in volume). i can't hear the sound when the i am listening to music with the earpiece on(cause the music volume is louder). the sound is quite disturbing. (PS the click wheel sound is off.)
3) i was charging the ipod with a charger yesterday. its fully charged in less then an hour. after charging, i used the ipod continuously for abt 4 hours and the battery level went down by almost half. what wrong with it? i thought fully charged batt can last up to 30h for ipod classic 80g?
can someone help? thanks in advance. : )

1. Not sure. Stuff happens.
2. Is this just the whirr of the hard drive/click of the heads as it reads data? It should settle down once it has read the file you are playing into memory.
3. The iPod battery meter is a bit eratic. When charging the display will show full after about an hour which is when the the battery has been fast charged to about 80% of max. charge. To achieve max. charge takes about 4 hours. During playback the level of the charge displayed seems to vary up & down depending on what you're doing so I don't pay it too much attention. Battery life will depend on how much time the screen is active - e.g. playing videos, backlight timeout settings & brightness, how much you use the menus etc. I haven't yet managed to make mine run out before I get home at night...

  • HT3798 no sound from IPod 5 generation but plays songs

no sound from IPod 5 generation but plays songs

Assuming your earphones are in good condition, the iPod battery is fully charged and you are not trying to play very high quality music.(not HE-AAC), when was the last time you played any music on your iPod?
Try this if you haven't yet.
Reset the iPod - Press the Menu and center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, release the buttons, select your preferred Language.
    Play your music.
    Good Luck!

  • Sound from iPod Touch

    Hi,
I just got an ipod Touch but it wasn't clear in the features guide whether the ipod touch is suppose to give out music sound without the earphones.
In the settings, it gives the option to choose either speaker, earphones or both.
So seeing that options, i chose speaker option assuming i will hear the music without the earphones. But i didn't hear any sound from the ipod touch when playing music tracks.
Am i suppose to hear music sound from ipod touch or is the speaker option for external speakers connecting to the ipod touch?
i'm worried my ipod touch is faulty.

The ONLY way to get sound from the IT is with either a headset or external speakers plugged into the audio out jack.
Unless you turn on the sound for the internal speaker, which is actually a transducer to give small alarm beeps. It won’t play music/audio.
From the iPod touch user manual, page 78.
*“Turn sound effects on or off*
Choose General > Sound Effects and select whether you want sound effects to play
over _*the internal speaker*_, through the headphones, or both.”

  • No sound from ipod classic

can anyone help !! my ipod classic has no sound from it at all. Not from my headset or docking station or car kit. Very annoying ! Have done all the reset stuff etc but no joy. Anyone got a better idea ? Thanks

My classic 80 GB ipod that I bought 2 years ago now has no sound at all. Initially, it came and went and now no sound. I can see that the music is playing on the screen, but no sound comes out either on earphones or dock.
no warranty anymore and don't want to have to pay $160 to fix it. I restored the IPOD but still no sound. HELP!!!!

  • PROBLEM - no sound from ipod

Ipod displays playing music, but no sound. Tried several different headsets. Music plays from itunes from ipod just fine.

Its def the logic board. I called Apple customer service and the woman I spoke to basically told me I was S* out of luck. She told me because the IPod is so "old" (if 5 years if really old) that they would have to special order parts and that it would cost upwards of $129 to fix.
I told her I could buy a new Ipod for less than that and owning other Apple products I am suprised to hear that they do not garuntee their products. It's blows my mind that I have old discman's, I am talk about 10-15 years old, that with a new set of Double A batteries, would work fine. However, when I asked if they could replace this product, not being damaged and minor blemishes on the exterior from its case, she responded no, that it's out of waruntee.
So I then asked her, can I expect for my Apple products to just crap the bed every three to four years and she said, "Sir, the only thing I can tell you is that your 30G Ipod Video is out of waruntee." I LITERALLY left this bad boy in my car for the 5 years I have had it in the cool glvoe box. I listened to it solely in my car becuase my Alpine deck has an attachment. This is garbage and Apple won't help you....well they will, but they will charge you an arm and a leg.

  • Weird sound from MacBook Pro 2011

I have a weird sound that occasionally occurs from my Late 2011 13" MacBook Pro. The sound comes from the left side of the base, towards the hinge. The timing is random, usually when sitting by itself idle with the lid open. It has occured when the charging cable is both connected and disconnected. Performing a restart does not cause it to stop, it will continue thru the restart. Shutting down completely does shut it up, but it'll likely appear shortly after booting up. Closing the lid of the MBP will shut up the sound, and if left closed for a couple hours, the sound doesn't appear for awhile.
The sound itself is pretty loud, and can easily drown out my TV when it kicks in. I don't think it's the fan, as I've heard the fan on full tilt and it's still quiet, unlike this noise I am referring to. Plus, the fan is located in the center against the hinge, not on the left where the noise is coming from. I tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM, no luck. I did record the sound with my cell phone, here is a video of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgutF9bZilI
If anyone has an idea of what is causing this sound, please help. Thank you.

Does the sound, or it's basis, interfere with operation of the MBP in any way?  When the lid is closed it is in sleep mode so one would expect the sound to stop then.
Best thing might be a visit to the Apple store genius bar to have the techs test it.

  • Weird sound from laptop (GP60)

Hey, guys! I have a question about my laptop that I'm hoping one of you might be able to answer.
So I have a GP60 laptop that I bought manufacturer-refurbished. So far, I love this laptop! I'm glad that I can actually do some form of gaming again! But I have a slight hiccup with this computer that kind of concerns me.
Occasionally, my computer will emit a weird noise. It's very brief, lasting maybe half a second, but it sounds like the weird electronic noise out of Slenderman. Even when I have my headphones plugged in, it will still make the noise outside of them. I don't think its a motherboard issue-- my last computer actually did have a problem similar to this and it really was the motherboard, but the sound and manifestation of this is a bit different. I've opened up my task manager and watched it while I'm doing stuff, and I've noticed a pattern of sorts.
It will only occur under one of two-ish conditions:
    - If I'm either streaming/playing music [mostly when I'm either using Pandora, Spotify, or the windows music app (NOT WMP)].
    - If I'm playing a taxing game (I play minecraft quite a bit though and it's rarely happened then. However, I was playing SWTOR to test my theory and it started doing it again)
It may have happened once or twice outside of those circumstances, but I don't really remember. Also, each weird sound is accompanied by a spike in my CPU processing. It'll spike to anywhere in the 75-100% usage range. I haven't really noticed any drop in performance per se, but I'm just concerned that this could be a sign of a bigger problem. I was very hesitant to get a refurb, and I'm concerned that this could be the start of my worst dream come true. I have two theories: it could either be the motherboard (again, wah) or maybe my sound driver... but I have no clue to be honest with you. I would appreciate any ideas/help that could be offered!
    Specs:
    MSi GP60
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Intel core i5-4200M
    Nvida GeForce GT 740M/2GB DDR3
    SoundBlaster Cinema/AudioBoost
    Memory: DDRIII (L) 8GB
    HDD: 750 GB

I guess it's the electrical interference from CPU too, when it switches the state.
If you're not using Bluetooth or WiFi, disable them as well to see if this improves.

  • IPod got washed... Weird sound from area of lock button.

Ok, so a few days ago, I accidentally washed my IPod 4th gen in the washing machine. *facepalm...* I only got it out after a 45 minute wash. Blindly hoping it still worked, I attempted to turn it on. (Hold power button, press home...) Screen stayed black. Then I went to look on the forums. A lot of people suggested to put it in a rice bag for a week. Problem is, I don't have a week. I'm leaving for a 2-week vacation in 2 days... =/ Soooo, I took the screen/ glass off. I found some droplets water in there, which I wiped up using a Kleenex. Then, I put it in a rice bowl for the night. Next morning, I put the bowl into the hot California sun for 3-4 hours. Finally, I decided to test it. *Gulp!* I plugged it in to a wall charger, and after ~30 seconds, I noticed a sound like bacon frying(mmmmmm =D) quietly coming from the location of the power/lock button. When I felt the area, however, It didn't seem like there was heat emitting from it. then, I unplugged it and wrote this post. What should I do now?

  • Weird internal sounds from iPod... help!?!

Last night i unplugged my iPod from the computer, immediately it started making a crunching noise that came from inside the iPod and it started vibrating... it totally froze and i couldn't even reset it. Attaching it back to the computer did nothing either.
So i left it till the morning. By then the noise had stopped. I could turn it on, but all the memory had been wiped but it still said i only had 12GB (not 30GB) of memory. It still refuses to connect with the computer and actually makes that freeze up too. Also, when left connected, it overheated to a very high level. I've tried restoring factory settings but that does nothing either
Obviously i'm worried, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what has happened and (if anything) what i can do about it.
    Thanx

i'm having the same problem i came to apple.com to see if other users where having this problem last night i was listne to my iPod and the ipod was doing the same thing yours did but mine didnt freeze. it worked and the hard drive would vibrate and stop then continue again doing the same thing so i reset the iPod. but im going to take it back because i don't think thats a normal problem = (.

  • No sound from ipod shuffle?

The iPod Shuffle registers on iTune, the downloaded songs show up on the computer screen; however when I attach the ear plugs to the unit not sound emits from the ear phones, not even a hiss. What should be done?

You might want to post this in the iPod shuffle forum.

  • No Sound from iPod, Tried Everything

    Hi Guys,
Any suggestions on what to do? About two weeks ago I would try to turn it on, got the green light, but no sound was coming out of it. (Trust me, it's not because I needed to turn the volume up
I've tried just about everything that there is to try. I'm using a 2.0 USB, so a slow USB port isn't the issue; Windows and iTunes recognizes the iPod. I've reset it many times; reformatted it, updated the iPod software, restored 3 times, reinstalled iTunes, and after all this it is still a no go.
Any other recommendations before I turn this in to get fixed/replaced?

I am having the same problem. I used itunes to put an audio book from audible on the shuffle, but the book will not play on the shuffle. I tried putting other things i.e. music from CD, music downloaded from itunes, none of it will play on the shuffle. When I press the play button the shuffle the green light comes on briefly (as long as the play button is depressed) and then goes out. No sound at all comes from the shuffle. When I plug the shuffle into the USB and look at what is on the shuffe using itunes, itunes shows the audio book and music are on the shuffle, when I press play using itunes, the music will play. I am completely frustrated! If anyone has answers please help!

  • Weird sound from x201 keyboard

recently i've found a weird problem with my x201 keyboard. when i press down on the area where the escape key is or around the area where the volume controls are, it will make a plasticy click sound.the sound happens as soon as i let my finger off that part of the keyboard. sometimes when i press that area and let go it takes a while for that part of the keyboard to bounce back up and make the sound. so it sounds like that area of the keyboard stays in place for a while sometimes before it jumps back to the natural position. no i've never spiilled anything on the keyboard. i'm not putting a lot of pressure on that area either. it could happen if i just tap that area of the keyboard. and i've taken the keyboard off but couldn't see anything that could make the sound. any idea how to fix this? is this a problem with the keyboard or the laptop bezel?
also will lenovo just ship me a new keyboard for free if i ask? what number or email address would i have to contact?
