Weird sound when bounce to mp3

Hi,
When I bounce my tunes to mp3 I get this weird almost like a flanger effect over the whole track. I am sure I am doing something wrong but am not sure what. Could someone please give me some suggestions to remedy this.
Thanks.

Bounce in aiff to see if the problem persists; if not the import the file into iTunes and use it to convert to mp3.
If you obtain the same result in aiff too then you could have some phase coherence problem and you should have a closer looks to every single track to check with different eq or efx settings.
Remember that 2 sounds with the same frequency but with opposite phase erase themselves completely.
cheers

You should take it to an Apple store or an AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) Carefully inspect the hinge joint and make sure there is no debris that you can see, you can try carefully sliding some sticky tape thru the joint to clear any loose stuff out. But this sounds like there might be more going on here, and the hinge is something that you do not want to fool with.

  • Weird sound when entering optical-in cable

My new PB 17" hi-res makes a weird sound when I insert the monster optical cable into the optical-in jack. The sound it makes through the speakers is the sound of air getting released under pressure, at a very high sound level.
The optical cable is attached to a Sony DAT recorder. If the recorder is on before inserting the cable, the weird sound comes immediately when inserting, if the DAT is off the weird sound comes when powering on the DAT. The same happens when taking the optical cable out.
Since this happened the first time the system sounds where gone (like when you empty the thrash bin etc.). After a restart I sort of got them back. The only system sound I get is a very tiny, short bleep, verry different from before. Also now sometimes several keys on the keyboard produce a sort of bleep (not mechanical I think) when I use them.
Anybody experience this too? My previous PB 17" (G4 1,67) didn't have this weird sound, whether the DAT was on or off.

Mac_Dutch, I think that as long as you have the Dat recorder on you will get this sound. This is feed back the same as plugging in a Guitar into and Amplifier that is turned on..
On restart you will notice a similar sound momentarly as the computer either comes awake or restart as it boot up and starts all the process...Cheers...Don

  • Urgent! Volume of logic pro song increased when bounced into mp3- why?

I have tried everything I can think of (but I am new to logic and recording in general, so it feels much like I've been fumbling in the dark). I have put a limiter on the out-put channel, lowered the volume of all tracks, turned off normalization when bouncing, tried to make a new project with the bounced file...- none of that worked.

Are you listening on exactly the same system that you're mixing on, you can be listening to Logic with the volume of the audio interface turned down and then playing back the Mp3 file on a system with the volume turned up, that's one possibility.
Remove the limiter form the output bus and lower the master fader, that's a second possibilty.
Is there a chance that iTunes is setting the normalization tag in the Mp3 file, then when apple playes it on another Apple device with itunes, it normalizes it anyway. Sounds like this is what it is, no matter what volume the mp3 actually is it raises the volume)  It's something new that supposedly levels output, loud songs are brought down a bit and low volume tunes are brought up so that everything is the same level.
really dislike itunes and never use for anything resembling pro audio.

  • Fuzzing Sound When Bouncing

When i bounce to an MP3, I am getting a strange static-y buzzing sound. I don't know that much yet about mixing properly, but so far, with all the songs I written, I haven't had this problem when bouncing. I don't hear this sound when listening to the song in Logic, just when it's bounced. Any suggestions? Is this related to the mix, to something I might not know about yet?
    Thanks!
ps. What is the standard way that people communicate back and forth. When I make a post and someone responds and I want to say thank you, is it standard to post thank-you replies on the board? OR does that clutter up the postings?
    Thanks much,
    Sarah

If you're new to mixing, the best advice that I can think of is to mix down to a basic AIFF to get the feel of it. I have discovered that I haven't had any difficulties mixing down to an MP3 as long as I have an AIFF as well. Ensure that your PCM checkbox is checked and set it accordingly when you bounce.

  • Ipod makes weird sounds when the hard drive runs

my ipod video is making weird click clak sound when the hard drive starts running. Is this normal?? HAs this happen to anyone before?

HEY!!!!!! I wasnt alone. Amazing. I had the same experience with my new Black 30 Gig iPod 5 Gen. It had a 3 second delay, made lots of HD clicking noises. And worse after a few hours of usage, forgot 240 of my 270 songs that had been transferred onto it. This was all happening on the first day! Wow.
Im sure glad to hear I was not alone. The sad thing is, Amazon is going to take 4 weeks to return my money to me. I will never again by a hardware product from Amazon.com. It simply takes too long. As far as Apple iPods are concerned, I believe they need alot of design renovation to put it frankly. Here are my complaints about the 5 Gen:
    1. No Screen Brightness Controls. A major no no.
    2. 3 Second Gaps between songs. What?
    3. The trackpad on the iPod is far out of alignment. Not sure who supplied these, but the Mini was far superior to the 5 Gen trackpad. The traction was severly off kilter.
    4. 284$ for an iPod that forgets 240 songs in a blink of an eye? I don't think so Apple. Get a grip. Woz was correct when he stated you all use crapy supplies for your parts.
    I thought he was kidding?!
This was my first and by my choice, last iPod experience to be had with Apple. They are cute, but software/user level wise, they need alot of work.

  • Weird sound when starting up/wake up

A macbook bought sometime late last summer, have had a few problems, but all were software errors and are solved. but recently it has been making weird noises when you turn it on, or wake it up. the sounds seems to be coming from the disc drive area and sounds like its trying to eject a disk, it "trys" two or three times. it was dropped the day before and has a small little chip on the bottom right corner. does anyone know if they noises are normal? or if i should take it into the apple store to get it checked out?

Ummmmm... the computer was dropped and now makes noises? That's not normal. Have you tried to insert a dvd or cd into the optcal drive to see if it still works? Sounds to me like you'll be making a trip to the Apple store....but don't expect that they're going to warranty anything....they'll know it was dropped.

  • Weird sound when booting and restarting Mac

    Hi,
Since a week or 2 (that i've noticed) the superdrive makes a somewhat weird noise when restarting or booting the Mac. The usual sound, that i'm sure needs no description or explanation, is now accompanied by a higher pitched "jamming" sound.
The SuperDrive Update 3.0 won't run on this Mac and there are no firmware updates available.
I am confident i did not have this sound before 10.6.2 but i am not sure when it started after the 10.6.2 update.
It reads/writes any disc i put in there just fine and the sound does NOT happen when i take the Mac out of sleep mode, then it gives the normal sound it always has given. Also when inserting/ejecting a disc the sound is normal.
    Any idea's or suggestions?
    It's a MBP 17" Early 2008.
    Any help greatly appreciated

  • Dither when bouncing to mp3?

Back in 2008, someone noticed that Logic does not provide any dithering options on an MP3 bounce.
To answer his questions, the lossy MP3 compression adds more noise than dither, so you really should start with a 24-bit master and convert directly to MP3 without any dither. The reason Logic doesn't offer the option is because you should not be using dither.
I regularly use Logic to bounce a mixing and mastering session directly to MP3 or AAC so that the client can hear it with minimal bandwidth. The only issue I have is whether 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz will be appropriate for my client.
In a little more detail, dither is basically the process of adding noise to a signal so that the bit depth can be reduced without significantly increasing the existing quantization noise. On a 24-bit file (from the 32-bit Logic mix) dither adds noise at about -144 dB, which is incredibly low. Dither on a 16-bit adds noise at about -96 dB. In both of those cases, POW-r dither uses noise shaping to hide this added dither noise behind the existing audio frequencies, hoping that you won't hear anything. When you compress to MP3, the lossy process results in noise that is much stronger than -96 dB, but it still tries to hide behind the audio in much the same way as POW-r (give or take some proprietary algorithms).
In other words, you don't need dither because MP3 is basically an equivalent process.

    Hey all:
To help simplify my questions: Does anyone bounce to mp3 in logic? and if so what consideration are being made regarding Dither?
Id appreciate any comments regarding this..
    Thanks

  • DR-BTN200's right ear is louder and left ear part makes weird sound when the volume is high

I bought DR-BTN200 a while ago and I've been feeling that the right ear part is louder than left ear part.
Not because of my hearing; if I switched R and L around, I still hear left (original right) louder than the right (original left).
Also if I increase the volume, the left ear part makes a high pitch sound when singer/talker/instrument makes an emphasis in their voice/sound.
Is this a common problem? I didn't drop it at all or anything and I just keep the headphone in the part of bag where I am supposed to put laptop in. From outside I don't see any damage on it either.
    Any help is appreciated.

Please follow the steps here to troubleshoot the issue. If you need further assistance, please post your inquiry on Sony France Community here. Thanks!

  • Nokia E75 - weird sound when I'm called.

    Hello!
So here is the deal: any ringtone I set for my profiles (mp3, aac, or anything which works fine) sounds weird when I'm called. The sound is like on an old tape, waves the volume and changes the pinch and tonality of the sound, like the phone is "drunk". It happened suddenly, with no clues.
The sond in the player and browser is OK, the SMS/MMS/e-mail sounds are OK as well. Everything works fine except the ringtone. Last night I've reformatted it, reinstalled the firmware - nothing worked.
I've attached the recording - please change extension jpg to amr.
If you have any clues which might help solving the problem, please contribute. Thank you!

  • Capturing keyboard sound when bouncing

I have a yamaha DGX 300. It has a gorgeous sound that I want to capture (much better than that available on the iMac instruments). I have connected the keyboard to my iMac and have been able to record midi on logic pro ( can also use it to drive the internal logic instrumnets. When I play the midi back the sound comes out of my keyboard. In other words logic pro is driving my keyboard presumably by using the sound card in the keyboard. What I want is to be able to capture that sound in logic pro so when I bounce the track the yamaha sound is captured and I can record it.
Any ideas on how to do this ?

Your keyboard doesn't have a "sound card", it is a synthesizer/sample playback keyboard with a standard audio amplifier with speakers. I presume it has "Audio Out" line out connectors? You will have to route the audio output of the keyboard into whatever you're using for a soundcard on the Mac and then record it as an audio file.
