Weird/strange idea. I want to sync 3 ipads with a mac, to display a count of things being made.

My church is doing something called Operation Christmas Child. It’s a big service opportunity where anyone can come and pack a shoebox full of toys to be sent around the world for poor kids to get toys at Christmas. My church is doing a big shoebox packing party, where we are hoping to have about a thousand shoeboxes and tons of toys/school supplies/games/etc to fill them with.
I wanted to display the number of shoeboxes we have packed on a projector as we go. I’m wondering if there are any apps that would count the number of shoeboxes we make as we go.
Our setup is this: we have a Mac hooked up to a sound system and a big projector in our gym/worship area. It has ProPresenter5 on it which we use to display music lyrics, videos, etc. We are going to have three 50ft long tables in the gym that people will be walking along packing their boxes. At the end of these, we were thinking about having people with iPads to give people the option to donate a $7 fee to pay for shipping for their box(es). We thought about using a credit card app like Square, PayPal, or I was kinda leaning towards Intuit-GoPayment to take these donations. In a perfect world, I would be able to have three iPads, one at each table, that as people paid the fee or finished making their box, the iPad would sync/connect to our Mac, which would count that box, and display the total number of boxes made on the projector. I wouldn’t mind if that meant the person running the iPad (or even a laptop if that would work better?) had to push a button to count that box as they saw it finished, but I really want to have the multiple iPads or laptops to be able to send that information to one spot for a total count, specifically, our Mac that could display the total count.
Are there any apps/programs for the Mac that I could buy/download to make this happen? Is there anything in ProPresenter that anyone knows about that could perform this?
Any other ideas how to make this work?
I tried really hard to make this make sense, but it’s a confusing/strange idea. Please let me know if you have questions about what I’m wanting.
Much thanks!
Dan

  • Sync iPad with new mac in without old mac

Have moved to another city than my home, left iMac at home (old without intel so no cloud) -- bought new iMac and want to sync my ipad now to the new mac NOT the old.  It wants to erase my ipad --- don't want to lose my aps.  How do I stop the sync with old mac and switch to new -- won't be back in old house til mid-Feb so want to sync now with new.  As iMacs are different version and in different cities I couldn't just write my files from one to another so transferred via external drive my music and photos.  Now want to ensure I can sync my iPad.  Advice on how I do this without losing all my aps?  Thx.

Read this discussion and see my posts (Demo) and King Penguin's posts. If you follow the instructions that we discussed you should be fine. There are ways to get all of iPad content into iTunes on the new Mac discussed in this thread.

Whatever does not apply - just ignore. The only change in terminology for a Mac running iTunes is iTunes>Preferences>Devices - not Edit>Preferences>Devices like on a PC.

  • Sync iPad with another Mac

    Hi there,
I am on vacation far from original Mac that my iPad normally syncs to. I connected ti to Mac Mini I have here and iTunes does not see iPad at all! I would like to sync (load) some pictures sitting in Mac Mini to iPad. I would disable all other sync data, like music and contacts anyway. I looked under Settings and there under General Wi-Fi sync says that my Mac is away and Sync Now button is greyed out.. I don't really need WiFi sync, cable is fine, have it with me.
What is wrong here, why I can't do this things?
    Regards,
    Zack

Thanks for quick answer. So I can't reset this and then sync it back when I get back home to my regular Mac?

  • I have both an iPod and Ipad 2. Latest I have sync. ipod. Now when I want to sync. iPad 2 in iTunes its only iPod mentioned in sync. window and it does not help to connect iPad. its not shown in iTunes. What to do next?

I have both an iPod and iPad 2. Latest I have sync. iPod and now I want to sync iPad, but iPad is not shown in iTunes when connected. I have the latest iTunes version.

If your computer starts image capture or some other camera software you should be able to quit that and then your iPad will show up in iTunes. Mine does this all the time.
The preference on what to start up when a "camera" is connected is found in Image Capture. So start Image Capture. It's in the applications > Utility folder. Then look for preferences. In my version it's in the lower left corner. Select None or Nothing and quit the program. From then on your iPad should show correctly in iTunes. But you will most likely have to start your smear software manually when you do connect a camera to your computer.

  • HT1535 I own an iPhone4, an iPod 3rd generation and an iPad 2. I use the same iTunes library but unfortunately synced iPad with a different computer before syncing to my own. Do I risk losing the films/apps I've downloaded onto my iPad if I sync with my i

I don't want to sync what is on my iPod to my iPad. (I have a 32gb iPod but only 16gb on iPad. The iPod I use mostly for music.) I can't seem to add the films I have downloaded onto iPad to iTunes. If I could do that, I could erase them from iPad to create more storage.
    This is intensely confusing, sorry.

    Question.....
"I own an iPhone4, an iPod 3rd generation and an iPad 2. I use the same iTunes library but unfortunately synced iPad with a different computer before syncing to my own. Do I risk losing the films/apps I've downloaded onto my iPad if I sync with my iPod?"
    Answer.....
Yes you will lose the films that you downloaded to the iPad when you sync with your own iTunes unless you transfer the purchases into your own iTunes library. Were these movies that you purchased? If so, you might be able to download them again for free. Do you have multiple computers that you sync from or is this someone else's purchased content?
You can select whatever you want to sync to all of your devices in iTunes, you do not have to sync the same content to all device.

  • Help! Syncing iPad with iCloud after setting it to sync with iTunes

I bought my iPad yesterday and synced it with iTunes. Now I want to sync it with iCloud (I have my iPhone 4 backed up in iCloud). Do I need to restore my iPad?.

I don't actually play games on my iPad or phone but I believe that games need to work through the game centre for data to sync like that. Although its also technically possible for games to do it through document and data syncing in the iCloud system preferences, but I don't know if any games have taken advantage of the possibility yet.

  • How can I sync iPad with Outlook?

How can I sync iPad with Outlook?

Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes. Look under 'info' and you may need to scroll down. The option will be there to sync your outlook calendar (or more) with the iPad. Choose what you want and sync to 'save' the settings.

  • I was syncing my ipod touch on a friend's computer and now want to sync to my new mac book, will I lose all my stuff?

I was syncing my ipod touch on a friend's computer and now want to sync to my new mac book, will I lose all my stuff?

Not if you do the following:
    - Transfer iTunes purchased to the new computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using one of the third-party programs discussed here:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
    - Move a copy of the iPod backup file from the old to new computer.  That file is located here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    - After the stuff is moved/transfered, restore the iPod from the backup you just moved to the new computer and sync as necessary.

I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
