Weird time display thing going on...

This just began today, but the time display on my Finder bar keeps freaking out. Click the image link below to see what I mean.
http://i9.tinypic.com/6gun8ko.jpg
You notice how it's trying to spell Tuesday, but you see the T, u and e stack atop one another. The problem happened with the time earlier this evening, and I restarted my computer. It fixed it, but now it's doing it again. Anyone else been having this problem? Any way to fix it? Thanks.

Actually, I have no idea why it might be doing this, but there are a couple of things to try.
Since the time and date depend on your battery, you might check on the health of your battery (About this Mac>More Info>Power.)
You could also try resetting the PMU.
On general principles, you could go to Disk Utility and verify and repair permissions.
If nothing helps, please post back.
Good luck!

  • Weird minus front thing going on when pdf saved in ID cs4 on mac

I have an indesign cs4 file with a couple layers. one the bottom layer is eps file with some shapes in it. On the layer above is a tif (product image) and it happens to be above the shapes in the eps file. When i export it as pdf the shapes knock the color out of the product image so its half white. Its acting sort of like the minus front pathfinder in illustrator but with colors. Its driving me crazy.

Not sure but I would try resaving that EPS as native AI file and see what happens. Also your flattening and PDF export settings will play a big role in this, I imagine.

  • Time display goes to minus 22 hours

This has happened 3 times now in 2 different projects. I'll be in the middle of editing and the time display will suddenly show MINUS 22 or 23 hours and it'll be impossible to reposition the playhead on the timeline. So far the only way I've found to recover is to restart the computer. It's been so random I'm not able to diagnose what kicks it off yet.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
I have all the latest versions of everything; 2012 MBP, working off an external LaCie RAID via TB.

Despite what it says in the post I have OS X 10.10.2 (Yosemite)

  • Email times displayed as UTC

    Hi,
I'm having a weird display issue in Mail. All emails show in the list with times that are UTC instead of PDT. My date and time and international system preferences are correctly set to display Pacific Daylight time (Los Angeles) in standard American date format. Apple Mail is the only program that isn't obeying that setting.
To make this more interesting, I've configured Mail in a non-standard way. Since there's no obvious way to lock out access to Mail other than to create a separate user account (which doesn't meet our needs for this system), I created an encrypted sparse disk image and moved ~/Library/Mail/ into that disk image. I then created a symbolic link to point ~/Library/Mail/ to the disk image volume.
This work around is working out perfectly and provides me a way to secure access to email without creating a unique user account. The only funky thing appears to be this date display issue.
I know that the disk image implementation is non-standard and probably not recommended, but it's the only way I could figure out how to secure access to my mail within a shared single user account (which I need for other reasons).
Any ideas on how to correct this date display issue?
    Thank you,
    Todd

Following is the full header for another sample message. I have other accounts on this server that I check on other computers using Apple Mail and time displays properly, so I doubt it has anything to do with the email server. This is a POP account and the server runs some flavor of BSD running sendmail/postfix or something similar. While the sample below was sent from MS Exchange, the date display issue applies to the display of all messages.
The following message appears with Date Received: "Today 3:35 AM".
The Date Sent column displays: "Yesterday 8:35 PM"
The date sent is correctly showing the message time for our time zone. For some reason, date received is showing messages at GMT.
Thanks again for taking a look at this.

  • Airport Blank, Time displayed is wrong, spinning wheel of death›

    Hi Guys
This is the second time this has happened in the last 3 days.
My airport icon along the top toolbar is blank, even though clearly i am on the internet right now and it's working, and also the time is 50mins out. I went into System Preferences to check if i had the wrong time zone, but it's on the correct one (Wellington, New Zealand) and in System Preferences it has the correct time, yet the time displayed on the tool bar is wrong.
The other day when this happened, i shut my macbook pro (Leopard 10.5.8), and opened again, and it restarted itself, took 10 minutes on the white page with apple logo and spinning cog, and then went to a plain blue screen. I forced it to shut down and started it up and again and this happened again. I couldn't find anything on these forums to help me (on my boyfriends laptop) and went and had a look at my manual, and started up my laptop in safemode, went into my system preferences, went to startup disk and selected my local disk and then restarted my laptop and it has been working fine for the 2 days since then.
About ten minutes ago, i opened up my laptop from sleep and the airport icon is blank and the time is out again, also when i hover over that part of the toolbar i get the pinwheel, but when i hover over the toolbar towards the menus it's fine.
I just opened system preferences to have a look at the start up disk thing again and it's frozen with pinwheel there too.
    Help Help Help!
I don't want to shut my laptop off right now because i know i will get blue screen when i try to turn it on again and i won't get any of your replies :P

also just noticed the "wrong time" is actually frozen, it's just frozen on 7:55pm

  • External displays not going to sleep?

Environment: Early 2013 MBP Retina 15'', OSX 10.8.5, two external HP LP2475w monitors connected via DP-DVI adaptors. The monitors are correctly recognized in the system report.
I am not running a screen saver, and in the Energy Saver preferences, I have set the display to go to sleep at 15minutes (long before the computer goes to sleep).
The built-in display indeed goes to sleep at the predetermined time, but the external monitors simply get a black screen, they don't actually go to sleep (indicator light is green, the backlight is still on). There is no problem with the monitors, they correctly go to sleep under both Windows and Linux.
    My theories:
      (a) vesa information about how to turn the monitors off is incorrect
      (b) something about the mini displayport to dvi adaptor kills that signal
       (c) there is no way to turn off external monitors, I'll have to live with this
    Help?
    Thanks!

exactly the same here. 2011+dell 24"
i called apple hotline and they did this with me:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    and
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
after this the external monitor went to sleep flawless. ... but as soon as some usb-ports are busy (with an external drive or something) - even when everything falls asleep the external monitor keeps on again.
but a least without the usb the monitor now falls asleep too - so there is hope!

  • Create an absolute time display that can be paused and scrolled

I have 3 waveform graphs that are scrolling by as the data is collected.  They represent past events that can be paused, scrolled back, and printed.  It represents 8 hours of data.  I do not have a time stamp associated with the data going into the graphs at this time.  I dont want to reinvent the Field Point code that is gathering the data just tweak the Host program that monitors the data (this would require flying to the customer site).  I need to have a absolute time clock that will keep up with the data that is scrollong by and pause when the graphs are paused (that is the easy part).  Here is my challenge.  I am using a property node from all three graphs.  I have the x scale-range-all elements tied together so they will all scroll together with 1 x scroll bar.  I need to be able scroll the absolute time clock with the other information.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
You can use the Get date/time function to get time when the data is recorded. However be advised that this time would only be close to the actual time of data acquisition.  It will not be the actual time when the data was acquired.
As for scrolling the time display, I think yout best bet would be to tie in a  time stamp (Get date/time function ) with the Y values that you are already acquiring. Then when you scroll to a particular point in the graph, you can programmatically unbundle the waveform at that point to get the time value.

  • IPad 1 Wifi / 3G Display sometimes goes dark but iPad is still seen by iTunes

Display sometimes goes dark but iPad still works and is still seen by iTunes. It can sometimes be fixed by rapidly hitting the power button and holding the home button.
Holding the home button and then pressing the power button ALWAYS takes a screenshot and I can hear the screenshot sound.
The screenshot it takes when dark 99% of the time is of the lock screen, but sometimes it takes a screenshot of a blank screen. Perhaps that is after the screen sleeps.
The problem is very intermittent; sometimes the display will work for weeks, sometimes for minutes. Started doing this out of the blue, no drops or bumps before it started.
Seems like possibly a connector or voltage issue?
I would say power button, but the power button ALWAYS works for screenshots.
Any ideas? Right now the display is not working and I'm having problems getting it back on.
I have tried opening the iPad and do not see anything out of the ordinary.
Any inexpensive recommended vendors that can repair this if a solution is not forthcoming?

the iPad doesn't have the feature to turn off 3G service and is searching for STRICTLY 3G coverages.
We need to ASK Apple to add this as a feature to ANY 3G iPads!!

  • Can I turn off Time Display on my Motorola QIP 7232/2 at night without unplugging?

I would like to be able to turn off the Time Display on my STB at night. Right now, I have to place a book in front of the display as it is in my bedroom and lights up the room. The QIP 7200 STB in another room goes totally blank when the TV and STB are shut off with the remote. Any help would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There is a setting in the main menu to shut it off, something like Set Top Box Display, go into that and look for the option to turn it off.

  • My Macbook Pro is still under limited warranty. Is it possible to upgrade my pro to retina display by going in to the store?

My Macbook Pro is still under limited warranty. Is it possible to upgrade my pro to retina display by going in to the store?

You can only exchange or upgrade your macbook pro for a retina macbook if you are within the 14 days purchase time frame. After the 14th day, you are no longer eligible for an exchange or any upgrade but only for free repairs.
Limited warranty doesn’t mean you would be eligible for an exchange or an upgrade, but its a time period in which your existing macbook hardware and software issues are rectified free of cost.
    Hope this helps.....

  • Time displayed for a Song.

I realize this is not an iTunes probrem perce.
I have a song which plays for like 4 minutes, but the time displayed for the song goes over 36 minutes. Does anyone knows how to correct this?

    Download vbrfix here:
    http://www.willwap.co.uk/Programs/vbrfix.php
And run it on the file you are having a problem with. It should fix the file so that time is displayed correctly.

  • I have a year old iMac and Macbook, both on 10.7.3.  Every time the iMac goes to sleep I lose wi-fi.  No problem with the Macbook and iPad.  A lot of people seem to have the same problem.  What's the solution?

I have a year-old iMac and Macbook, both on 10.7.3.  Every time the iMac goes to sleep I lose wi-fi from  Airport Express.  No problem with the Macbook or my iPad.  It seems a lot Mac users are having the same problem.  Is there a solution?  Does Apple have a solution?

    Sometimes there are problems.
Somethings to try but probably won't help....
    1. Repair Disk Permissions
    2. Startup in Safe mode by holding down the "Shift" key....
    3. Reset the P Ram by holding down the "Command/Option/P/R" keys at the same time...
The above are standard items to do on any Mac from time to time.
I repair permissions at least once a month....
The other 2 periodically as they do straighten things out when they get out of whack....
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Petition: zencast- please sort out rw / ff / time display on podca

I am enjoying the new Zencast software but I really would like Creative to sort out the rewind, fast-forward and time display for audio podcasts, in time for the final version. I believe that I am not the only one experiencing problems. On my Zen Touch I cannot use the rewind or fast forward functions for podcasts, and the elapsed time displays 0.00 and no progress bar. If you are experiencing similar problems and would like the matter sorted out, please sign below.

Same problem here, is really anoying to have to listen 20-30min again because there is not fastfoward working, also not able to see how long that show is going to be,or if its almost over, hopefully soon we'll see a final version
