Weird track icon appearing in Logic 9

A weird track icon has appeared in my version of Logic 9. It's on several tracks in a current project and I don't know what it is or how it got there (I can't see it in Logic's chart of track icons anyway, and I've certainly not imported any). If I had a Windows PC I'd suspect a virus or something, but I'm assured by a 'Mac genius' in my local Apple Store that I can't possibly have such a thing.
The icon has two elements which look like characters from some '80s computer game, both orange in colour. One looks like two hard drives stacked one on top of the other; the other is in the shape of a downward-pointing arrowhead or fountain pen nib. The background is black. I'd attach an image if I could see how you do that on this web page!
Can anyone give me information on what's happened here? Thanks very much.

It's this icon:
file:///Applications/Logic%20Pro.app/Contents/Resources/Images/LegacyIcons/47.pn g
(paste that into the address bar of your web browser and hit return to open it; it's a local file on your machine, within the Logic bundle)
Logic just assigned one of its legacy icons to the track for whatever reason.
Don't worry about it.
If it bothers you, select another icon and move on.

  • Tracker Icon Disappears with PC Reboot

    Hello All,
I am preparing to roll out Shared Review for technical documentation at our company. I have done a number of test cases successfully with some users.
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to initiate the shared reviews.
Users have Reader 8 or above which seems to work fine EXCEPT:
One case is stumping me where a user keeps losing his Tracker Icon from the system tray when he reboots. (It is really convenient to access your reviews from via the Tracker Icon without having to navigate to your review PDF copy so I am trying to fix this:
This user has Acrobat 7 and Reader 9 on his PC
He had to set reader as his default client because when he received an invitation to join a test Shared Review, the browser tried to open it in Acrobat 7 and would not work - Adobe says you have to have Acrobat 8 or Reader 8 or above for Shared Review.
So after setting default to open with Reader, he was able to join the review. So far so good.
The tracker Icon appeared in the system tray. Still OK
He saved the browser copy to a working drive.
He opened the review copy from his working drive. He is connected to the review. All is fine.
When he shuts down his laptop and then reboots later, the Tracker icon has disappeared.
I know he can get to Tracker by opening Reader and clicking View | Tracker...However, for this rollout to be successful I would like to solve this problem so he can access Tracker from his system tray.
I have a feeling that having Acrobat 7 on his machine is causing a problem. I tried a human at Adobe Support specific to Acrobat - they won't help unless I own the latest version of Acrobat.
    Any ideas out there?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello George,
Thanks for your response. Yeah I have a feeling that he will have to either use the workaround or upgrade his Acrobat program. I'll wait for a bit to see if anyone else in the forum chimes in on this.
    Thanks.

  • Weird icons appear when Opening Documents in Document Library

Experiencing intermittent issue when opening a document in a certain document library.
    These weird icons appear.
Artificial intelligence can never beat natural stupidity.

That's a sprite file. It's downloaded once for a page and then CSS is used to pick a part of that image. The full display of that image is usually caused by a timeout when downloading the CSS file. If you refresh the page, does it display correctly?
Does the page have any custom JavaScript or custom CSS?

  • Weird Icon Appearing Have Boot

    Hey everyone,
I've been having a weird icon appear on my desktop every time I boot up my computer.
    Here's the icon:
    http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/realmvenompics/Picture1-5.png
Not sure where it came from or what it means. I've searched online to see if anyone else has had this problem, but haven't seen anything. I'm not sure if it could be some kind of virus?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the help everyone. Taken care of.
Apparently I considered doing Boot Camp and made a hard disk for it, but stopped in the middle and decided not to.
Also just realized I butchered my title to the thread.

  • Syncing Fast Track Ultra (Slave) With Logic Express (Master)

I'm trying to get my fast track to slave with Logic Express, using Logic as the master. It doesn't appear to be sending out any messages. On my fast track I can get the midi 'in' light to blink but not the 'out.' in Logic, the transport bar on the bottom, says 'no midi' for both the in and the out. Does this sound like a Logic setup issue or a fast track ultra setup issue?

    Hi,
1st: You need to set your drum machine clock to external. That's important if you want to make Logic the master. Be aware any clock signal only is available when Logic is in play mode (naturally, but sometimes i forget even the most logical things).
2nd: In the Audio-Midi-Setup, the Fast Track should be displayed. Open the MIDI window (Window-> show MIDI window). Click on the "add device" icon. A new device will be added (new external device). Now open the inspector for this new device. You can name it, adjust all these things like MIDI clock send/receive and other gizmos and give it a nice icon. Now you must "connect" this new device with you Fast track by simpy dragging a line from it's outputs to the Fast track input and vice versa. The MIDI setup window will now represent your hardware's cabeling.
Once you have done this correctly, you should be able to correctly select the Drum machine in Logic.

  • How to make use of 'Icon Name' in Logical link?

I see the option 'Icon name' in 'define logical links' in SPRO. It does not however has an F4. I tried giving the name of image in the relevant skin. But no image appears besides the logical link. Is there something else that needs to be done to get an image besides workcenter link? How to make use of this 'Icon Name' in logical link?

    Hi,
i guess this icon_name is not possible for every skin in CRM70.
We use nova skin - here it is not possible.
With default skin i saw icons for example on the salespro startpage.
    Kind regards

  • Weird tracking artifacts while dragging elements in InDesign

For the last two days, I've been getting this weird tracking artifact when dragging an element on top of a semi-transparant background.
I can't seem to figure out how to resolve this.  I even de/re-installed InDesign, and then the entire Adobe Suite.
Im running Lion (10.7.2)  on a MacBook Pro with a 250 GB SSD and 8 gigs of Ram.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

These are user-to-user forums. I think once upon a time the links said that clearly, but it certainly is a bit less obvious now, though the "Learning" page description does say users share their knowledge. No harm done and you are not the only one who comes here thinking they are on a direct line to Adobe. Adobe employees, when they appear, have clearly labeled badges.
I'm really sorry you thought I was taking a tone with you. That was most definitiely not my intention. It's extremely difficult to judge meaning and inflection from a written post, as I'm guessing you must know if you also do support this way. The shortcoming in communication was not a blame situation -- I was trying to let you understand where the breakdown was -- I'm trained to understand some words in particuolar contexts here, and it isn't always correct, and I also apparently misunderstood from the beginning that your screen artifacts didn't get left behind, probably because I'm used to seeing ones that do (mostly in CS3) and I had the scroll bug in mind. These things happen, and we need to let each other know when we aren't communicating, and try to get it right as we move forward.
"Secondly.  A brand new macbook pro should be more than capable of running a second display."
OK, this is another case of not quite communicating, I guess. Live Screen Drawing is a LOT more intense video usage than most applications have. It's kind of like trying to watch a movie full screen. That takes a lot more video power than just throwing static images onto two screens. By way of comparison, I have twice the video RAM that's on your system, and probably more processing power, too, and I drive only one monitor, and I STILL don't use Live Screen Drawing because it works so badly. It shouldn't be on by default because practically no computer in the wild can make it run smoothly, but it got set that way because it's a new feature in CS5 and they wanted people to "discover" it. You have no idea how often we have to suggest to users that they turn it off to regain control of their screens.

  • Track Icons - Disable or Keep?

I am new to the Mac again. I've been on Cubase for 3 years and I have been told to check out Logic by some reliable pros that I respect.
I looked into this product and the features seemed great, but I took a glance at the arrange window user interface and...bleah! What are those childish looking track icons all about?
These little guitar and microphone, etc., icons make the whole package look like amateur hour. Before I buy this product, is there a way to disable these completely?
Or are they actually helpful to the user?
    Thanks!

In earlier versions, I used to use them quite a bit (not the toy-like ones, though, mostly custom icons).
These days, not so much. I find for the most part, I like the generic green and blue icons for instrument tracks and audio tracks respectively - let's me easily see at a glance which track types are which, while helps me quickly grok a large arrangement.

  • Tracker and Review Tracker both appear in notification area

I removed my Acrobat 8 so that I could install the trial version of Acrobat 9. However, removing Actobat 8 did not appear to remove Review Tracker. After I installed Acrobat 9, both the old v8 Review Tracker and the new v9 Tracker appear in the notification area, and sometimes double-clicking the new Tracker icon starts the old Review Tracker. I can consistently open the new Tracker from within Acrobat 9, but I do like to be able to access it from the notification area. Any way to get rid of the old one without getting rid of the new one?

If the reset isnt fixing it and you have it turned on in notifications, then the next thing to try is restore your phone in itunes from your backup, providing you have backed up your phone recntly.

  • Photo Screen Saver weird random images appear

When the photo screen saver runs, I get random icons pictures appear on top of good photos. Pictures of Country flags, tiki masks, guitars, and other iconic like pictures show up on hi-res photos. It randomly happens, and I do not have these other pictures stored anywhere on the mac... I know it sounds a little crazy, but does anybody else have this problem?

This is not isolated to Leopard 10.5.X only.
I had the same weirdness with 10.4.X.
The Pictures folder inside your home directory is the root of all your iPhoto pictures database, iChat icons and what ever pictures you put in there.
If in Screen Saver you chose your Pictures folder then Screen Saver has access to every single picture within that folder. That includes iChat icons and your iPhoto folder.
Some of the weird pictures I saw came from the iChat icon folder. The pixelated and vertical pictures that you see comes from the iPhoto folder. The pixelated ones are the cashed iPhoto icons and the vertical ones are the original unmodified iPhoto photos. Yes rotating a picture is a modified one.
Before iPhoto 2008 the contents of the iPhoto folder was viewable by anyone. With iPhoto 2008 the folder looks like a single file. That was most likely to stop inexperienced users from wrecking havoc to there iPhoto database and then complaining about iPhoto.
I do not remember if the database of iPhoto 2006 is closed or opened and I do not know Screen Saver will have access to the contents of the now closed iPhoto 2008 data file.
You might still have weird iChat icons, that look like flags, if you chose the Pictures folder.. if default link iChat icons is still there.
I do not personally use the Screen Saver but I am pretty sure that by choosing an iPhoto folder will fix the weirdness permanently.
    Hope this helps

  • Track icons

Hi ! want to add some new track icons , but cant find logic resources anywhere ,(user > library > app' support >Logic> resources> icons>>>no resources )
    come on who's moved them???.
tried a search on png, nothing! although icons are available in logic itself i cant seem to find their folder to edit and add.
    anything would be great.
    Thanks Ronny.

Hi. I was wondering whether you had found that missing folder yet? I'm having the same problem.
I'm on 7.2 and trying to set up an Autoload Song with automatic coloured track icons.
On my previous system (v5 on PC) it worked, but the icons were all black/white.
In the manual on p. 113 it says that 'the small monochromatic icons adopt the color of their parent Audio or Midi Instrument Object'. But that the high res Arrange icons don't. These high res ones are the only ones that my version 7.2 seems to have when you click on the icon (they are mainly a fetching dismal orange colour).
My old version with its black and white ones worked a treat, taking on the colours I set for the objects.
    Thanks
    Hoping you have a solution

  • Transferred itunes library from Windows XP PC to new Windows 7 PC. plugged in 3rd gen Ipod. Ipod icon appears along with playlists, music etc. Songs are grayed out and won't play. Please help!

I recently transferred itunes library from windows XP PC to new Windows 7 PC. The transfer was successful, however when I plug my 3rd gen Ipod Nano into the new PC, the Ipod icon appears along with the music, playlists, etc. The songs are shown but are 'grayed out' and wont play or sync. The 'Devices & Printers' window in new PC shows icon for Ipod driver & is OK. The icon for the Ipod appears but depicts a delta shaped warning icon that states that the Ipod is'not operating properly'. Tried troubleshooting. The troubleshooting message states the the Ipod is 'disconnecting'. Can you help me with this problem?

Then, I dropped the entire itunes file from the old PC (XP) into an empty external drive.
That "itunes file from the old PC"?  Is that the iTunes folder, from the old PC, that was in the user home folder's Music folder?
All of the library, playlists, etc. from the ipod as they always have been are shown, by they are 'grayed out' and will not open or play.
That's on the iPod, correct?  Are all of your old playlists in iTunes, from the old PC, still there in iTunes on the new PC?  Are the songs in iTunes still playable?
This document provides the steps to transfer a complete iTunes library between two computers.  See the section called External drive.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer - Apple Support
There are many steps, but this is a summary.  (1) On the old PC, consolidate all of your iTunes data into the iTunes folder.  (2) Copy this iTunes folder to the external drive.  (3) On the new PC (that has iTunes installed but NOT running), replace its existing iTunes folder with the one from the old PC (on the external drive).  When you run iTunes, it uses the iTunes folder from the old PC, and it should look like iTunes on the old PC (with all the playlists, ratings, play count, etc.), and your iPod will see the iTunes library as the same iTunes library (because it is the same library).
If you did something different, and the old PC is still accessible, you may want to try it using the method from the linked document.

I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.
Would you please help me out? I would really appreciate it.

    Hi..
Restart your router then restart the iPhone to test.

  • Real Instruments and Master Track icons dessapeared

This is when i open garage band
This happen when i start to used. The Real Istruments and Master Track icons desappeared. What is this happening and how can I fix it?

THis can either mean, that the GarageBand application needs reinstalling or that you have corrupted settings and preferences files in your user account. To find out if something in your user account needs fixing, try to launch GarageBand from a different user account.  You could try to log off and sign  into the Guest account or create a second account for testing using the System Preferences "Users&Groups" pane.
If GarageBand works well using a different account, try HangTime's "oddball probs" fix and trash the GarageBand preferences file - move com.apple.garageband.plist from the Preferences folder in your user library to the Desktop.  See the FAQ:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#oddballprobs
(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
But if it even does not work from a different account, trash GarageBand and reinstall it.

Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.
