Weird! U350 + Win7 - shows less usable memory (2.84GB) with 4GB than with 3GB?

Hi,
I have a Ideapad U350, which came with Windows 7 32-bit, and 3GB of memory.
I just wanted to extend the RAM so installed instead of the 1GB of RAM a new one of 2GB. Before, Windows 7 shows "3GB installed and 2.87GB usable" but now, it shows "4GB installed and 2.84GB usable".
Now, I know that 32-bit Windows 7 will typically only show something less than 4GB if 4GB is installed, but I was really surprised that when I had the 2x2GB memory installed, Windows 7 showed 2.84GB!!!
In other words, Windows 7 32-bit is showing less usable memory when the 4GB (2x2GB) memory is installed, than when 3GB (2GB + 1GB) memory is installed...
I'm kind of puzzled about this. Just to be clear, as I said above, I *KNOW* that with 32-bit Win7, it wouldn't show the full 4GB, but I expected something like 3+GB usable with the 4GB, not < 3GB!!!
Can anyone here explain why this is happening?

Re-seating the RAM modules didn't solve the problem. I suppose that this issue is because I installed some 32-bit applications. I think I must avoid this and install ONLY 64-bit apps. For example I installed the 32-bit MS Office 2007 suite because some time ago I bought a license for 32-bit. I will reinstall the 64-bit OS version and will get back with conclusions/solution. FM2-A75MA-E35, Less Usable Memory than installed....

I just powered up my new FM2-A75MA-E35 Mainboard with A6-5400K and 4G memory stick. Running Win 7 Ult 64.
When I used on board video, I had 3g out of 4G available. I assume the missing 1G was reserved for video use.
So I put in my ATI Radeon HD 5670 video card hoping that disabling the onboard video and using plugin video card memory would free up the missing 1G of ram.
Instead, now I have 2.9G out of 4G available.
Any help or guidance is appreciated.

F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL if i'm not mistaken are G-Skill Ripjaws (they are known to be very problematic on MSI boards Due to a DEAL with a brand-X) try some different RAM and i would suggest some from Corsair of 1.5v instead!
at most the board will dedicate with 8GB installed 2-2.5GB to the IGPU max (1.5GB if only running 4GB at the most) so it sounds more like a incompatibility due to the poor choice you have made when you bought the RAM!
if its no incompatibility then you have some VERY FAULTY RAM so its either a incompatibility or very BAD ram involved here.... i suggest you get some different ram from one of these 2 Manufacturers (Corsair & Crucial) as G-Skill cant be trusted on a MSI board as they have a very bad rep and in particular the RIPJAW skew they make!

I think you should review what you wrote. There is no question, hence, my reply. I can't tell by the AM listing what applications are using memory. You need to click on the Real Mem column once or twice to display in descending order.
Aside from what you see in AM, what exactly is your problem or perceived problem. You are very low on Free Mem at the moment the screen shot was taken. Those displays are not depicting your computer's instantaneous memory usage.

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

I have weird pixelly artefacts showing on my screen.
The attached picture shows a particularly bad portion of a screen grab of this, taken in Safari whilst browsing a website.
The lines and blocks flicker like crazy. They're not moving around, and where they appear, they stay flickering in that spot – BUT if I move the browser window, then weirdly the flickering lines and blocks follow along with the window.
If I flip to a different application, then the flickering lines and blocks might move to a different location, or they might disappear altogether, or there might be more of them or there might be less of them. It's all very random.
Also, as you can see, for some reason I have lines appearing over a dark section where there is an image, and I have blocks appearing over a light section where there is no image.
It can be seen in any application, be it Safari, the Finder, Photoshop, anything...
Some days it's a little bit, some days it's a crazy amount. It usually disappears totally after a reboot, but then after restarting, the flickering lines and blocks gradually appear over time.

CCX version 8.0 showing high Virtual memory.

Hi,
We have a CCX cluster 8.0 implemented in our scenario.
The cluster has been upgraded from 5.x to 8.x.
After the upgrade it is showing high Virtual Memory , the memory is shooting upto 90%.
Could you suggest any reason for?

HASPJava.dll is used by verification License and is invoked less and can't use a lot of native memory.
Our business is communicating between java and COM component. In order to implement it, we used JavaCom to generate java class for COM component.
Memory of COM component is little, but Native Memory is high.
Who used JavaCom and did you meet this problem?

Why too less Free Memory in my FP-2000

Total memory 15955KB, Free memory 1284KB.
Why it shows too less free memory .I think free memory should be > 5MB.

Now it is working fine the problem was i installed complete firmware (including NI VISA and other) now i have only related to FP.
Now i can see free space around 6 MB.And it is working fine .
Now new problem is my program reads one DI it is working fine in Windows but when i target it to RT it does't show.

Satellite M100-126 - Win 7 32bit indicates "only" 3GB of usable memory

Here's the situation:
I have a Toshiba satellite M100-126 (PSMA1E - 0PV021FR) running Windows 7 32bit.
It originally had 2gigs of Ram, but after my brother's laptop broke down (motherboard failure) I took his 2x2gig ram and installed them in my laptop.
At first, the BIOS only detected 3gig, so I flashed the bios using the one recommended by Toshiba Download center, i.e. v 3.0 , direct link http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/calleula.asp?ID=66238 (if it works). There is also a version 5.6, only for Windows Vista, but I did not use that one.
So now, the bios detects 4gigs, and so does Windows, but windows indicates "only" 3gigs of usable memory.
In Windows resource allocation, 1gig is "hardware reserved", so it's 3gig usable memory. If I replace one of the 2gig modules by a 1gig module, I get only 2mb of hardware reserved, and the 3 installed gigs of memory are usable...
Here are the questions, now:
I am aware of the memory limit for 32bit systems, and that I won't be able to use the full 4gigs anyway, but my brother got 3.5 gigs of usable memory on his 32bit system... Is it

Yet, under Windows, in resource allocation, the memory used by the video card is indicated as similar whether I install 4 or 3 gigs of memory...
Oh well, not a big loss, when I find the time I'll run benchmark tests with both installs and see if there's a difference.
Any idea on whether I'd gain anything with Win 7 64bits or would it just be wasted on a 3y old system (Windows indicates it's 64bit compatible)

According to your description, I think this issue is caused by the IE browser that runs the report. To trouble shoot this issue, I suggest that we can try to clear internet temporary files, cookies and others in IE browser. And also add this site
as a trusted site in IE browser to check this issue again.
If this issue is still existed, it can also be occurred due to the setting or third party add-ons of Internet Explorer (IE). In this scenario, you can try to run IE in compatibility mode to check the issue again. Or I suggest that you can refer to the
steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
Click Tools -> Internet options.
Switch to the Security tab, click Local intranet, and then select Default level.
Switch to the Advanced tab, and click Restore advanced settings.

Showing less data at retrival time

Hi Everyone,
I have a datafile with me to load the data into cube.when i am loading the data it is loading succeesfully with out any error but at the time of retrival of data it is showing less when i compared with my original data.
Then i checked the data in cube based on agents hierarchy and i observed data for some of the agents are loosing because that agent is parent for some members so the children data is overwriting the parent data when we run default calc all but i have the data for that parent itself in our data file.like
for example
A is parent B and C is children of A when we run default calc Band C data is overwriting the A's data but i have the data for 'A' also. like this i am loosing the data of A but i need to maintain the A' s data also.For this i created 'A' itself as a child under it and i renamed the parent A like A(Supervisor).
like A(Supervisor)Parent and A,b,c are children
Like this i am getting the correct data but i am doing all this modificaions manually by identifying manually.
I have around 23000 agents are there with different hierarchies so i am getting very difficult to identify and add like this manually.
Is there any script to write to solve this problem like if we miss any data is should take care about (or)
Is there any other method to do this task faster.
If any one knows please tell me how to proceed in this issue.

You can create an adjustment account under A called A_adj, load data to A, B, and C, then before you consolidate, write a script that goes through and calculates the adjustment (A_adj) by taking the difference between A and B + C. "A_adj" = "A" - ("B"+"C");
Now to get all this to work dynamically will take some work but using @CHILDREN and @CONCAT functions along with @CURRMBR, should get it done. As for performance, that would remain to be seen.
Is there any particular reason why your supporting detail doesn't support the totals you are getting? Perhaps you should be going back to the source and getting a better data feed that has all the correct numbers in it. I know you can't always do that, but before engineering a big work around, I would take a pass at the source and see if you can get better data to begin with.

When I go to devices it won't let me select "transfer music". It's grayed out. Why is this and what can I do? I'd like to delete some of the music off of my iPhone but don't want it gone forever. I appreciate your response. I have done all of the things mentioned, but still when I click on "devices", the "transfer music" option is still not selectable. I see it, but can't select it. I am running Windows 7 on my PC.
However, one thing I read makes me take pause. At one point I did erase my computer back to factory settings using the mirrored image. We backed up all information and put the important stuff back on, but I don't believe we did anything with iTunes, so it's a possibility that the music that is in my library now, may only be music I have purchased since then. But, (thinking out loud) that was a while ago and I am pretty sure I have purchased more music than what is in my iTunes library, since then. Maybe I will approach it from that angle and see what happens.
It just doesn't make any logical sense that syncing goes from computer to device. Ostensibly then, my iPhone would only have the music that is on my computer after syncing and that is not the case. I still have all my music on my phone. I can see the new music that's on my phone get added to my iTunes library when I connect, which would make one think that syncing occurs both ways. I don't know. It's maddening. Maybe I should just follow my husbands advice and go to an Android. LOL. Or maybe I will take my laptop and phone to the Apple store and make them figure it out. Ha.

"Other" includes data such as contact information and photos assigned to contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cookies/history, notes created with the Notes application, SMS messages, email stored locally or cached, and 3rd party application data created and stored by the application.
If "other" is more than say .75GB at the most, you had a corrupt sync. Try syncing again and if the problem persists, the recognized fix for this is to restore your iPad.

Well as far as I can tell the only developed alternative to Apple is Microsoft, sure you want to go there?
iCloud (and Mobile Me before it) are consumer level systems, working correctly they are a poor choice for business use, if you want to stay all Mac try Zimbra if you can let a little Microsoft in the mix use Microsoft Exchange (Mail, iCal & Address Book are compatible as clients), hosted Exchange systems cost about $10 per month.
Or try to fix what is wrong with your installation (which is clearly not running as it should)

it's just another View for your tabs which needs less *space* in the taskbar, but same *memory* of your computer.
exception: if you (re)start FF and restore the last session (with lots of tabs/groups) there is an option in FF-Settings to load the (content of the) tabs only as soon as they are clicked, and not as soon as FF starts. That trick saves memory.
