Weird volume

Before the update to 6.0.2, I already got my songs in my library. They sounded just as normal as expected.
After the updates, now 6.0.5, I have two files from exactly the same track of the same disc but differently encoded. One in Apple Lossless and the other in WAV. When "sound check" is off, they are at the same volume, of course, they are the same thing actually. But when sound check is on, the volume adjustment of the WAV file is something about +7.7 dB but the apple lossless is just -5.9 dB......Weird...... And due to this, the volume of this two files are......weird......what else can I say?
A different of 13.6 dB.
13.6 = 10 * log(intensity ratio)
22.908676527677730457240849198746 = intensity ratio
It means that the different is like you are standing originally 1m apart a source in playing WAV but 4.7863009232263834392208773933365m apart in playing Apple Lossless.
Anyone give me a solution that I can use the apple lossless back so that to save space?

I've waited for a month, still no one is willing to answer me?

  • Some weird Volume behavior SB

    Hello,
    I've got the following problem:
Sometimes since the last driverupdate, when I turn the Master Volume up or down in the ConsoleLauncher, the channelvolume for channels 3 to 7 are set to zero inside the WinXP Speakersettings. Only the right and left channel volumechange work.
I also tried with and without? Systemcontrol synchronizing, but didnt work.
The badest thing is that i just cant reinstall the old drivers from the original cd,because i get everytime a Bluescreen during Installationprocess.

Creative are aware of this issue. I have asked Creative?for further information with regards a possible fix and am awaiting a response from the Audio Dev team. Cat-CL has made a sticky and from now on all new?driver information /?updates etc will be reported within that new thread for fast access. I also believe that the audio dev team will start to interact more with serious users on this forum in relation to driver information / bugs/ fixes etc. Creative have a lot to prove at this moment in time and a good start would be to answer this now repeated question related to the latest XP driver and the known bugs.

  • Weird volume problem

I have version 4.0.1 on an iPhone 3GS and am experiencing a repeatable bug. When I do certain actions such as hit "shuffle" on the iPod music player, the max volume goes down. But, then, the ring associated with receiving an email will make it go back up.
When I workout in a noisy environment, I need all the volume I can get. So I end up having to email myself to make the volume go up.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I can be listening to music or podcast via the speaker and when I receive text message or new mail notification, the volume gets louder.
    Very strange...

  • Weird volume pictogram..

    Hey Apple!
This is my first post and I actually searched on the web for a solution to my question first, but I couldn't find it.
Whenever I change my volume, the pictogram/animation isn't a solid square anymore, but it has 2 lines in it. Is this normal? Or is it with something I installed, or selected another sound effect?
It isn't slowing down my Mac or something but I just want to be sure it isn't a virus or malware or anything..
I've added a screenshot because it's hard to explain.
    Kind regards,
    Tom

This is a bug in Yosemite. When you switch off "reduce transparancy" the pictogram will look normal.

  • Xperia Z2 Tablet : Weird volume issue playing music or videos

I picked up the Xperia Z2 Tablet about a week after I got the Z3v for that $299 tablet deal.  I love the tablet; it's fast and works great.  But, I noticed that sometimes when playing music (the included loaded songs) it would sometimes lower the volume on it's own until I could barely hear it.  Re-orienting the tablet (so it auto rotates) would immediately fix it, and the volume would return to it's original setting (for 10-20 secs) until you rotated the tablet again.   I also tried this with youtube videos, my own loaded videos of concerts I took, and iHeart radio streaming music.  All will display this behavior.  I checked all the sound and volume settings, even hard reset the tablet erasing everything.    I then took the tablet back to my Verizon Wireless Store and they exchanged it.   The new one does the exact same thing...it's 99 percent of the time, and there is a slim chance that every so often it does not do this, but it's extremely annoying.  I searched online and cannot find any similar issue.   Anyone observe this behavior?   I took it back too the Verizon store again, but it actually stopped doing it there, but when I got home after about 15 minutes of playing some streaming iHeart, it does it again.
    Looking for an answer.

This is very strange therabbitssing! This is the first time I hear of audio issues like the one outlined in your post. It is particularly strange that this issue could not be duplicated at the store. Have you tried other streaming application to see if issue continues? Have you downloaded any application that require access to your device speaker or microphone? Does the audio issue occur also when using headphones?

  • Macbook Pro 15" volume level changes by itself

    Hi all!
About a month ago I have upgraded my rock-solid Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2012) from Mountain Lion to Mavericks. All seemed fine (with the exception of some known annoyances with WIFI) until last week when all of a sudden the volume level started to change by itself. It started going up and down, turning mute and turning on again and so on, just like an invisible hand or a remote access have taken control of my machine (it wouldn't even let me change the the volume using the volume buttons while this weirdness is happening). This has never happened before. To make things worse, I have then upgraded to Yosemite and all seemed fine but then the weird volume changes appeared again and I now am stuck with no straight forward way of reverting all the way back to the original Lion (which worked perfectly since Mac purchase back in 2012).
    Can anyone help?
I have googled for similar issues and have seen  some answers (mostly not that relevant) including a thread on this forum suggesting to reset the SMC. I have tried that using the suggested key-combination press, but it did not seam to have solved the problem, as the volime changes continue when I least expect it.
Is this a hardware problem? If so, would a change of the keyboard resolve things?   [ At some stage I thought maybe the problem was caused by the fact the I have fiddled a little bit with the keyboard by lifting the :; key (next to L and under P) and applying a bit of WD40 to clean a tiny spil of sugary liqid that caused the key to get sticky.  But the volume keys are way far on top of keybord so my assumtion was/is that the volume changes would not be related to the cleaning. ]
is this a software problem? Some thread on similar (not identical) issues had suggested there are some bugs in soft and Apple is aware. For this reason I gave Yosemite a go but the problem continues. Would reverting to Lion sole the problem you think?  [ Maybe I should ask here if anyone can suggest how to go about this downgrade as Option-Cmd-R key-combination press at start up does not give me the Interner Recovery scree anymore, but keeps taking me (just like Cmd-R) straight to the OSX Utilities where can wipe of the disk (which I did) and reinstall Yosemite only. ]
I would very much apreciate any replies that might help me solve this issue.
    Many thanks
    Ty

  • IPod Volume

My iPod (3rd gen) plays with inconsistent volumes through my Alpine car stereo.  I'm not talking song to song, I'm talking total volume.  I attach the iPod using an Apple ipod connection into the back of the Alpine, and all functions can be controlled from the stereo itself.  Most days it will play at a decent volume, but sometimes, it just starts playing back very softly.  No change in volume settings for either the iPod or the Alpine.  No changes in settings for either as well.  It just plays back softly.  I have restored the iPod, and that didn't work.  After playing softly for a few days, the volume will come back again just as mysteriously.  Has anyone had weird volume issues with this particular model?  More to the point, any suggestions on how to fix it?

Welcome to Discussions. From the manual, try this:
Turning Off the Click Wheel Sound
When you scroll through menu items, you can hear a clicking sound to let you know
the Click Wheel is working. If you like, you can turn the Click Wheel sound off.
To turn off Click Wheel sound:
    m
Choose Settings and set Clicker to Off.
To turn the Click Wheel sound back on, set Clicker to On

  • IPod Volumes with Sound Check on

Out of these two charts (below), i havent decided which one is more accurate yet (which one do you think?), but I'm thinking of sticking to a 60% volume level
    http://www.generationdeaf.com/whysetvolumelimits.html
    http://www.hearinglosshelp.com/weblog/?p=86
But I think it's a bit redundant when you consider that most songs are all at different decibel levels. So I use Sound check to equalise them to one level. However, when you put sound check on (that is, so that all the songs play at the same decibel level), technically that changes everything in that chart as the volume is noticeably lower than when turned off. So what is the decibel level that the iPod changes all the songs to, when Sound Check is turned on? So that I can figure what is a safe volume level while having all songs at the same volume.

    Fixed it.
Quit iTunes.  Make sure it is really not running (not just invisible - I had a script running that stopped iTunes from actually quitting)
Then hold down the Option key and click on iTunes to open it.  It will ask you to "Choose iTunes Llibrary".  Click on "Choose Library...".  Then choose your normal "iTunes Library.itl" file which is in your personal iTunes folder under ...user/Music/iTunes.
This will force iTunes to rebuild its working library info and fixed my weird volume changes.  Now turning on and off Sound Check works as it should.  The song with the 1.1 dB volume setting did not sound different.
    Good luck.

  • New to OS X - questions

I got myself a MacBook Air yesterday after long time of wondering if I should. First impression - I'm quite happy for this sturdy little machine with great battery life. I have OS X 10.9.2 with the latest updates.
It will take me a while to get used to the touchpad as I have always preferred laptops with trackpoint.
So, few question.. and more to come, I hope you can help me with these. Some question might be very simple and some come from Linux/Unix background. I'd like to modify the system so that it will bring the best for me from both worlds.
    1) How to 'middle click' on chromium using only touchpad? I want to open links to a new background tab. This feature seems to work with combination of 'command' key and click, but I have not yet figured out how to do with single click. If I use two finger click, I get the 'right click' with various options. Yet this is not what I want.
    2) How does the copy&paste actually work? How to 'paint' the selection?
    3) I'm currently using the mail client which came with the system. I think it's still processing some of the mails from gmail. How can I get new email information to the right notification panel (which opens with two finger swipe from the right of touchpad).
    4) NFS mounts? Does OSX support NFS anymore and is it better to stick with Samba when accessing files on NAS?
I'd like to setup sticky mountpoints /data/pics for example so that I can do my own backups from the laptop to the NAS as well as access those files from the same directories from various machines.
Now my NAS is Samba mounted on /Volumes/Volume_1 will this name be used forever? In that case I could just create an symbolic link with ln -s /Volumes/Volume_1/data/pics /data/pics for example.
    5) apt-get type of functionality to install opensource software?
I noted that there is xports http://www.macports.org/install.php which seems to have quite a lot of applications available and installable from the shell. Is this the preferred way to install optional software or is there better ones?
    6) While installing some software I got these weird volumes? What are these? Can I remove these after the installation process or are these still used for something?
    /dev/disk1s2    72Mi   72Mi    0Bi   100%    36757          0  100%   /Volumes/Install Google Drive
    /dev/disk2s2  130Mi  117Mi   13Mi    90%    29949       3349   90%   /Volumes/vlc-2.1.4
    7) Does timemachine backup all the system settings as well? Can it be used to do the backup for a) local disk external disk c) to NAS?
Quite a few question, but it would be very helpful if you could find the time to answer these. When I get more used to the system, I try to return the favours
    Thanks!

    2. For text, it works just like Windows (Cmd+C, Cmd+X, Cmd+V). For files, OS X doesn't "Cut". You have to drag files locally to "move" them. And to external drives or flash drives, there is only "copy". You can't "move" files. Within the drive, you can move them, however.
    3. I've always used Thunderbird for my mail. I have Apple Mail set up with my seven domain and Gmail accounts, but I rarely use it.
    6. That looks like mounted DMGs for the installers. You unmount them by ejecting them from the desktop. Most COCOA installers will examine them to determine if they're eligible for installation, but they always show up as a volume you can't use.
    7. Time Machine backs up system files. It enables users to restore from a TM backup. I've only ever done that once, back in 2010, but I was able to FULLY restore my MacBook Pro (OS10.6) in about 40 minutes.

  • Disk Insertion error when logging in (Xsan mounting)

Recently we rebuilt on of our users machine from scratch to get it up to snow leopard (SL). I installed the Xsan software 2.2 and had a coworker in assist in getting our Xsan mounted to this computer through the MDC. Before evening mounting the Xsan, I got about 8 to 12 "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." errors and it asked if I wanted to initialize, ignore, eject. Hitting initialize just takes me to disk utility and does nothing. It does list the Xserve and all its drives, etc. At first it did not mount the Xsan at all, but through some configuring I was able to get it to mount. I how ever am getting about 2 prompts with this same error (The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.)
I've issued the DF command in terminal and it does not show any weird volume references or other volumes that are there but not mounting. Here is the results:

Sorry for not more details. Its been a few days since I have been able to work on this issue, *how can I get rid of this error every time the user logs in?* Any help or insight would be awesome. Thanks.

This all had to do with the user folder permissions and how they were nested. Our Sharepoints had the user folders several levels down. On Windows machines, the user folders could be mounted, even if the user did not have permissions on the parent folders. It seems Macs need Read & Execute access all the way down the line.
So, to do that, I gave Read & Execute access per folder (not propagating to child folders), all the way down the nested string until I came to the directory that housed all the home folders. This seemed to solve the issue. I'm guessing the "Sync" error message had something to do with the fact that when authenticating to an Active Directory server and mounting a network home folder, the Active Directory plugin in Tiger needs to read from the sharepoint, all the way down to the location of the home folder.
Our nesting now looks like this:
Say the username is Fred and Students is our sharepoint.
    Students -> Users -> 2009 -> Fred
    (R&E) (R&E) (R&E) (R&W)
Each of the R&E permissions were applied individually to avoid prorogation using groups.

  • Speakers no longer working on Mac- weird symbol won't let me change volume

    Hello
First off, I am not super computer savy!
My mac's internal speakers are no longer working. The volume control has faded in color, and when I try to press the volume buttons on the keyboard, it won't let me change the volume and there is a weird circle with a line through it. When I reboot the computer makes the reboot sound. I have tried tinkering around with the system preferences, but it is not muted, and it won't let me adjust the volume at all. This happened once before, the other day. Came out of nowhere and started working after about 10 minutes. Any suggestions! Much appreciated
    Kate

    Hi,
What output do you receive if you enter this command in the Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app):
    <pre>codesign -vvv Safari.app</pre>
If Safari has been modified, such as by a Safari enhancer program, this command should inform you.
If that is the case, try reinstalling the Safari package from the 10.5 installer DVD. This article relates to reinstalling Safari from the 10.4 DVD, but the principle is the same.

  • Is anyone else having a weird bug in MobileMe gallery with volume on iOS 5

Is anyone else having a weird bug in MobileMe gallery with volume on iOS 5? I am having a weird problem, where if I view a video I have uploaded and change the volume, I used the on-screen slider and It changed the volume but it also popped up like I was controlling it from the side. I thought that was kind of weird. If you want to see my problem, there will be a video up on Contemputech.com within a half-hour of me writing this.
    Thanks!

    Hello everyone!
I'm hoping you are no longer having problems with your iPhone visual voice mail.
I can understand how frustrating it is to not be able to access such a great feature on your iPhone.
We did determine  customers not being able  to access Visual Voicemail on their iPhones.
Common errors are "visual voicemail is not available" or it just keeps loading the message.
(In the meantime, you can still review voicemail messages by dialing *86)
This issue should have been resolved for everyone effective 3/2/12.
Please let me know if you are still having problems with iPhone Visual Voicemail by sending me a direct message.
Thanks for your patience with this.

  • What is that weird button next to multitasking volume control that controls whether music comes out of ear speaker or bottom speaker?

There is a weird button beside the multitasking volume control that allows me to play the music through the ear speaker. The button shows a rectangle and triangle together. Is this normal?

If you mean the image below, that's AirPlay.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437.
