Weird white marks

I just recently got my macbook in december after wanting one for a long time, and i love it. All except for one annoying problem... in the middle of the screen there is a soft whitish color mark and then at the left end of that there is one going vertically. Both marks are perfectly horizontal and vertical appearing and almost look like a light eraser? It is clearly visible when playing a game or watching a movie. I bought it at bestbuy and they took a look at it and they said they can send it out for 2 or 3 weeks for a free repair (new screen. Do i have any other options? Would apple replace this because its defective?

If the marks are always there, then by all means take it/mail it into Apple or an authorized Apple repair center. It should not take 2-3 weeks to fix if there is something wrong. Based on my own experiences, Best Buy is probably the last place I would ever take my computer, but YMMV. If you have Apple Care and don't live near an Apple Store, call them on the phone and get a box overnighted to you. 1800-APL-CARE. Good luck.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro screen have white marks on it and how do I get rid of it?

    My MacBook Pro started having these white marks right in the middle of the screen and I don't know how to get rid of it. I brought this MacBook online so I only have the invoice from seller. Is this sufficient evidence to show apple to replace under warranty?

    you will have to bring it to apple so that they can determine that.

  • White mark instead of Image

    Hi.
    I try to place an image at a panel.
    Here is the whole program:
    public class Frame1 extends JFrame {
    JPanel contentPane;
    JPanel jPanel1 = new JPanel();
    JLabel jLabel1 = new JLabel();
    public Frame1() {
    contentPane = (JPanel) this.getContentPane();
    contentPane.setLayout(null);
    this.setSize(new Dimension(400, 300));
    jPanel1.setBounds(new Rectangle(46, 50, 303, 193));
    jPanel1.setLayout(null);
    jLabel1.setBounds(new Rectangle(110, 39, 83, 74));
    contentPane.add(jPanel1, null);
    jLabel1.setIcon(new ImageIcon("logo.jpg"));
    jPanel1.add(jLabel1, null);
    But instead of image I got a white mark.
    Can someone help me?
    I broke the head!

    Hi,
    As far as i understand..the problem is you r not resizing your image and what you r seeing is only part of the image(which incidently is a white mark in logo.jpg), that is of your label size.
    Try options like -
    1. Increase the size of ur JLabel and u will see the bigger image.
    2. choose a picture that exactly fits your label.
    3. you can also resize your image by using the following code -
    * Resize the image.
    *@param original path of image file to be resized.
    *@param wid width of the resized image.
    *@param het height of the resized image.
    *@return Image
    public static Image resize(String original, int wid, int het) {
              Image resizedImage = null;
              try {
                   File originalFile = new File(original);
                   ImageIcon ii = new ImageIcon(originalFile.getCanonicalPath());
                   Image i = ii.getImage();
                   int iWidth = i.getWidth(null);
                   int iHeight = i.getHeight(null);
                   if ((wid > iWidth) && (het > iHeight)) {
                        return i;
                   if (wid < iWidth && het > iHeight) {
                        resizedImage = i.getScaledInstance(wid, iHeight
                                            , Image.SCALE_DEFAULT);
                   } else if (wid > iWidth && het < iHeight){
                        resizedImage = i.getScaledInstance(iWidth, het
                                            , Image.SCALE_DEFAULT);
                   } else {
                        resizedImage = i.getScaledInstance(wid, het
                                            , Image.SCALE_DEFAULT);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              return resizedImage;
         }use this then
    Image selectedImage =  Photo.resize(selectedFile,ICON_WIDTH, ICON_HEIGHT);
              JPanel jImagePane = new JPanel();
              jImagePane.add(
              new JLabel(new ImageIcon(selectedImage)));hope this helps,

  • IPad Air White Mark/Bubble Noticable on White Background

    I have the new iPad Air and notice on a white background it has a white mark/bubble on the screen, it is not on top it is under the glass, any ideas please, I am thinking as its only week old I should maybe change it?

    I'm pretty sure an appoinment is mandatory now (you have to supply your Apple ID when you make one) to have a Genius look at your device. I've read that people were abusing the Genius Bar (making appointments, then selling off the appointments to those that didn't want to wait as a walk-in). You could certainly try a walk-in or at least call the store to see.

    Hello nonnozeus
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    That looks like the front glass panel needs to be removed for cleaning.
    Your options are to take it to your local Apple Service Provider/Apple Store and have then clean the display and glass panel, if it's no longer under warranty then (DIY) Do It Yourself.

  • Weird White text at the bottom and in the search bar of iTunes

    So my iTunes (ver.10) somehow has a weird white colored text at the bottom where it tells you what your song count, days, and gigabytes in your library are? And the text is a super light gray in the search box in the upper right hand corner...what the heck? Does anyone know how to change this?
    /Pictures: http://goo.gl/Bs26I
    Thanks so much!

    Either the iPhone has crashed in some way to cause it to corrupt badly enough to need restoring to work (either hardware issue or software corruption) or it has been connected while holding down the Home button.
    Try resetting the handset (Hold Home & Power together for 15secs until Apple appears) and if it still goes back to recovery mode it means there's a major software issue or a hardware fault

  • Touch displaying weird white gradient display after few minutes of use

    I've had some issues last night with my 2G Touch. I was playing a game on it when my entire screen turned into a weird white and blue gradient pattern. The screen changed when pressing the Home button, so you can still interact with it, but you can only see this weird pattern. When I locked it for a moment then turn it back on, it'll display normally for a few moments, and then go back to this pattern.
    Today, I turned it on to see if it happened again, and so far, although I only used it for 20-30 seconds, it didn't go to this pattern, but I'm worried that it might act up again.
    The glass screen broke on me a few months ago, and I was going to call Apple to see what I could do to have that fixed. I don't know what the problem is now, though I have a feeling that since this new issue just started, the two things are unrelated.
    I know about Apple being really picky about what they repair, and though I am willing to pay them if I must, I read somewhere that they can STILL refuse to repair it even if you're willing to pay. That and I had a Nano that the screen went bad on, and they said that there was "accidental damage" and sent it back to me without them describing any other option (which I think is weird. Never seen anyone ever just not give you another option to repair a broken product if the warranty won't cover something). So while I'm sure that the new issue isn't related to the broken glass, they could just say "no, we're not going to repair it" and send it back. I paid $300 for this, and it's my third iPod (don't worry, I'm not just doing what I can to kill these things. I've been using iPods for a few years now, so it's not like I'm throwing them against walls or anything like that). So I'm hoping there's some solution to this (because, other than the broken glass, everything worked fine up until this point). The other issue that I think MIGHT be related to the new issue is that I have had to full restore my Touch whenever I update the firmware (this has been twice now) because it suddenly began acting up when I tried to update it.
    So yeah, I'm worried that something really wrong happened to my iPod that won't be fixed because of a shoddy repair policy. Any help will be appreciated.

    I can't imagine that repairing this unit will be cheap, but you'll get good service and a fair price here:
    http://www.ipodjuice.com/ipod-touch-battery-replacement-products.htm
    These folks can evaluate your repair, quote the price, and repair the unit itself.
    Apple, of course, will not pay for repairs on a unit with a broken screen, and it's uncertain whether they'll consider it worthwhile to support a unit whose main problem may very well be related to the original broken screen. For that reason, getting an independent repair (at a good price) may be your more sensible option. First of all, your iPod will be fixed to your satisfaction; second, you won't have to pay Apple's high prices for repair.

  • My Mac book pro screen has a constant white mark on it.

    Hi,
    My Mac book pro screen has a constant white mark on it, i have no idea why, its like its inside the screen, its never been dropped or had anything fall on it and the mark is starting to get bigger. Has anyone else had the same problem? i've inserted a pic of it, hopefully you can make it out.
    Thank You

    I see a multitude of white marks on your display.  Your best option is to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians examine the MBP.  Hardware problems such as this cannot be solved via these forums.
    Ciao.

  • HELP!!!  Weird white bars appearing in exports...

    We have just hired on a fabulous graphic designer to our company, but every time we export her designs as jpegs instead of PDFs, horizontal white bars appear going across smaller images. The bars do not line up with each other, even across images of the exact same size. There are no hidden objects to get rid of and this happens no matter which machine we open it on, hers, mine, my assistants, or any one of the other 5 computers in our studio. What is going on? Why does it look perfect as a PDF and crappy as a jpeg?
    We are using InDesign as past of the new creative suite that includes photoshop CS3.

    Well Buko that doesn't sound like an answer at all but as a workaround to a flaw in the program itself. Are you telling me that the only way to get a jpeg out of InDesign is to first export as a PDF? If that's the case, then it means Adobe has put out a product that doesn't work as it is supposed to.
    Buko, you did not attempt to answer my question, and in fact tried to make me feel stupid for not seeing the obvious answer of spending more time doing what InDesign already should do. No one likes a smart aleck.
    This is a serious question to the rest of the world. My question is NOT how to eventually get a jpeg. My question is this: Why can I not export a jpeg directly from InDesign? What is going on? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a bug in our version of InDesign, or is this a common problem?

  • My Screen Has White Marks In It. Can It Be Fixed?

    My Mac Book Pro screen has these two white blobs on it and they wont clean off so they have to be premanate, I think i recall placing my foot on it while it was closed on the ground. Did really step on it hard but has to be the only reason why this is happening.
    Is this an easy fix, or can it be fixed at all?
    here is a pic of it
    http://i49.tinypic.com/kd66wy.jpg
    PLEASE Help!!!!!

    It's hard to say from that photo, but if you stepped on it, that could result in physical damage.  If that is the case, there is no cheap and easy fix.  The screen, which is a very expensive component, will need to be replaced, and accidental damage will not be covered under warranty.
    You'd better contact Apple for a final diagnosis and repair.
