Weirdness on screen, first lines, now madly flitting mouse pointer

Ok, I use a fan control now to keep things cool. The horizontal lines haven't happened for a week or better. But then twice the mouse pointer went nuts and shot all over the screen.
First time round when a lot of apps were open, second time when Time Machine was to do a backup and I turned off the Modem before. Turning off the old ZyXel modem NEVER caused a hick-up. With the ZyXel I never had the lines issue either (under Tiger and all the way up to 10.5.7).
- Might there be mobo/graphic card trouble?
- Could the Motorola modem have some incompatibility (EtherNet connex, not WLAN)
- Or some software / OS 10.5.7 problem?

Try trashing your Desktop preference file. You can find the file here:
Macintosh HD> Users> Your Username> Library> Preferences> com.apple.desktop.plist
Drag the file com.apple.desktop.plist to the Trash. Empty the trash and restart your iMac.

I'm not sure if this is the same as the many other posts on problems connecting the Mac Mini to an external monitor. In my case, after it wakes, there is no login menu - but the mouse pointer is visible and I can move it around the screen no problem.
At present, I have to power the Mac Mini down and back up again, which is unacceptable.
What's causing this and how can I fix it?

Yes, I have this problem too. I reported to Apple about 3 or 4 weeks ago. They said no one else ever reported it and said they would escalate it but they have never got back too me. It is a pain because my mini is a media center pc and hard to get to when this happens.
For now the work around I use is to unplug the mini dvi connecter and plug it back in; this fixes the issue until the next time it happens.
+My mini (2009 version) is connected using the mini-dvi connector to a Denon receiver (with a DVI->hdmi connector) which is then connected to a sony 1080p TV. This replaced an older mini (intel duo) which did not have this problem using the same setup.+

Help! 10.4.6 made my mouse pointer turn into a little white square :(

i have a dual proc. 450 mhz g4 powermac (gigabit ethernet). the only 'extras' i have put in is a superdrive, a usb2.0 card (for my new ipod) and thats it. it has os 10.4 on it. it had the standard ati rage 128 pro video card in it.
well, i attained a nvidia geforce2 mx card with 64 mb on it. so i decided to put it in the mac. all was fine. well tonight i finally software updated my system which put 10.4.6 on the computer. when restarting i usually saw the black mouse pointer appear in the top left coner as login and all that took place. but now with 10.4.6 i saw a blue square.
now my mouse pointer is a little square of various colors. sometime it is white, which is a pain when a document or webpage is in the background. sometimes is is mutil colored, sometimes pink.
im sure it is something with 10.4.6 and not hardware related. when i start up from a tiger install disc or panther install disc its a normal pointer. but when updating to 10.4.6 the problem occurs.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Are the lines like psychedelic herringbone? If yes, I had that happen once, it was something serious, like the
Logic board. The good news is that it was fixed without any loss of data on the hard drive. Take it in to have Apple look at it ASAP. I took it to TekServe at the time, they are very nice about preserving your data and user library when possible.

You can charge anytime. You can also plug it in over night if you want because you can never over charge it.

Truncate text after first line in TextFlow

I have a TextFlow object which is rendered in a Sprite with multiple lines.
For a compact display I now want to display only the first line, followed by 3 dots (...).
I didn't find a good approach so far.

There is some support for truncation. It's limited to label use cases and requires using the TextLine factories. There is no support for editable text with truncation. Example below.

Module pool- only first line item data saved, rest disappears??

Hi Experts,
I have one module pool that was developed by other developer. It has header details input fields and items details input by table control.
Now below scenarios occur:
1) When I enter only one line item, and save it, the data is saved properly
2) when I enter more than one item data and save it, it only saves first line item data.
3).When I press ENTER button after every new line item data, it saves all the data properly.
I tried to debug the report but could not find the exact problem statement as the code is written very badly without any comments.

If I press ENTER after entering each line item, all records come in IT_GP but if not then only first line item comes. Also if I dont press ENTER after entering the first line item and and add one item (total 2) and then press ENTER then sometimes both the lines disappear.

I need to change the "from" address (the "add to addressbook" address) in the first line of emails that I send so that people reply to my email alias not the address where my emails originate. How do I do this?

So you have added a new 'Identity' to your existing email address.
If someone sends an email using that 'other identity'
you have a choice of where those received emails can go. they can be received into the original mail account, like a collect all in the one Inbox or perhaps sent to Local Folders, so you can see them as separate. Or you can filter on that identity to put those emails in a specific folder.
When you REply to any incoming mail that has used that new identity email address, it will use the new identity in the Email address in FROM assuming the received email in the main mail account of which the new identity email is applied.
This should also now offer the added identity email address as an option in the FROM drop down list. So you can easily swap when sending an email if required.
If you want to send using your default email address to people, but want their reply to use the identity email address:
Tools > Account Settings
select the original email address mail account name
Where it says: 'Reply to addresses: enter the reply to identity email address.
click on OK
This means when they click on 'Reply' it will auto insert the Reply-to option.
This will work providing it is a 'Reply' to an email you sent which contains the Reply-to email address.
If someone is not actually replying by using the Reply-to new identity email address:
In other words they are sending you a new email using the original email address because perhaps that is the one in their address book or the one they located on a webpage etc.
Then, when you select to Reply to that email, it will use the email address to which it was sent to in the FROM field - the original email address. Hence why you would need to select the new identity FROM in the drop down list.
One way to get around this is set out below.
If you do not use an identity - instead you create another existing mail account for the 'identity' email address, so you have two mail accounts for the two email addresses.
You can move selected emails manually or perhaps using a filter to screen them from the original mail account into the newly created mail account.
Then when you click on Reply, it will use the new mail account email address instead of the original email address.

How to set cursor at the first line in a table control?

I have a customized infotype screen where a table control is being used to input new values.The tab control has 30 lines.Now, the problem is that when the screen is displayed, the cursor always starts at 8th or 4th line.The behaviour is not very consistent.I tried the following statement in the PBO, but no effect.
SET CURSOR FIELD P9417-ZCOUNTRY LINE 1. ( P9417-ZCOUNTRY is the name of the tab control field where i want to set the cursor ).This is the last statement in the PBO.
Can someone please tell me why still I am not able to set the cursor at the first line? I have infact noticed that , in the debugging mode , sometimes the cursor starts at the first line.Please help. Thanks

I have got a new requirement on this now. If the table control does not have any records , then the cursor position should be on the first row.Otherwise, if it already has some records, then the cursor should be at the first empty row.I wrote the code like below.

I am facing a strange problem now.The table control has some 10 rows when you see the screen for the first time.If the number of records already present is less than 10, I am able to position the cursor on the first empty row.But if the number is say 15, then the cursor position goes to eighth or fourth line or sometimes the first line.
Is there any way to display the last few records , ie, if there are 15 records , is there any way to display the last five rows when I see the screen for the first time, rather than showing the first 10 records?How can I position the cursor at the first empty row, when there are more records?

I do use my iChat account on two computers, but I am never logged in from two machines at the same time. I get this message even if I have iChat running on only one machine.
It used to happen occasionally and I would just type "1" and that was an end to it for a while. Now it is beginning to happen repeatedly. I type "1" and about 5 minutes later I receive the same message again.
My screen name in the message is slightly garbled. It has an "(" on the front and the last character is replaced with a smiley. Mean anything?
The option in iChat preferences "Allow multiple logins for this account" is checked and greyed out. I have another AOL Instant Messenger account which doesn't give me the same problems. This one also has that option checked, but its not greyed out.
My first worry is that this is a symptom of someone trying to hack my system via iChat? But if not I would like to stop it happening while still being able to use this iChat account from more than one computer (but only one computer at a time)
If anyone has encountered this problem and knows if it can easily be fixed I'd be grateful.

Specifically using the Logout option on the AIM web pages does in fact log you out.
It is when you just close the window /tab to the page that their Setting take effect.
If you are set at "When I quit iChat, Set my Status to Off Line" that will also log you out fully when you Quit iChat.
There are some Oddities that can cause this without a second location or computer being used. (well not directly).
Are you doing Internet Sharing from this Mac to another computer or a cell phone ?
This can cause a sort or Loop via the other computer to the internet and iChat can see the Internet twice. I have also seen this with iChat and an iPhone using Internet sharing. (Instead of being wirelss to the wireless router the person had used the Airport Card to Share the Mac's Internet connection thinking it would lead to better syncing).
Also are you using the AOL Mail Servers and logging in from Mail (every thirty Minutes) to get your New Mail ?
Are you using a MIMO routing device as iChat can see these as two or More connection to the Internet.
DO you have another AIM based Instant Message app ? (AdiumX or ProteusX)
Do you have an AIM transport set up for a Jabber Buddy List ?

Weird Splash Screen with 32.1

We have this Download Error problem with our Magazine App. So I made an update with the new App Builder to v32.1. Now I get weird Splash Screens in the Developer App.
If I'm starting the App horizontally I get the vertically Splash Screen for a short time at the end of the startup process. If I'm starting the App vertically I get a rotated vertical Splash Screen for a short time at the end of the startup process. Please see screenshots attached.

First Line Truncated

Today I noticed in the Bridge and Photoshop forum that my first line of a response does a carriage return about a quarter the way across the page. The first few times I thought I inadvertently hit the enter key. But after it happened each time I decided that was not the case.
Has anyone else experienced this?
It did not happen on this Forum.
Damm, had to retype as it gave me an error message on posting.
Tripple damm, this is the 3rd attempt, "unexplained error has occured", but still logged in. But did a copy before posting and then paste this time.

Welcome to the "New & Improved" Adobe forum experience. There is a new feature, the automatic line break. When the editing screen thinks that you need a line break, it gives you one.
Acutally, this is happening to many of us. The published "fix" is to, well fix it.
To date, this normally is happening in the first 3 lines of text, but not always. Keep an eye on the screen, as you type and be ready with the Backspace key. Mine is getting worn out. Normally, by about the third line, you're OK, but I had one instance tonight, where there were maybe 5 and I was on about line six.
I've noticed that when these happen, the justification icons on the Toolbar often flash, and move slightly. Right now, with no auto line breaks, I see that the justification tools are offset about 2 pixels, from the formatting icons above. I do not know what this means, and it's just observation.
Along with this, the Block Quote function is about 1:3, and sometimes cannot be used, regardless of what the user tries.
Also, the camera icon attachment of an image is dead for many. Lately, others have used it, and have no issues. Maybe this is a rolling "fix," and will one day get to Arizona? My "guess" is that this was fixed in San Jose, and progressed westward. That means that I will be the last, but if it does get fixed, I'll live with that.
Keep the faith, and just keep an eye on the screen, as you type. Hope that there is a real fix coming down the pike.
