  • 5200-903: Agere Mini-PCI will not find WLANs

    Hi all,
I have recently installed the correct Toshiba Mini-PCI card (Agere drivers) onto my Satellite. Drivers installed fine (v. 7.62.0.390), but card refuses to find my access-point. Config-Free utility says: no connection with WLAN. I've checked cables more than twice :-), know what configured (IP, WEP etc.) ... After de-checking that WIN XP should configure WLAN, it did not work either (MSKB 871122).
Is this a know issue to anybody, or are there other compatible config-tools for the Mini-PCI?
Thanks for any help in advance!

    Hello
I hope that WLAN antenna is connected properly. Check if the white cable is connected to the MAIN and a black to the AUX.

  • Replace WLAN Mini PCI Card in U350

I got a brand new U350 end of last week, and beside the fan noise I'm really happy with the device (like many others I do hope Lenovo will provide an updated BIOS that will change the fan behavior to make it more quiet).
However, I'd like to replace the Broadcam b/g WLAN Mini PCI Card with a b/g/n card. I was thinking of getting an Intel 5100AN card and was wondering if such a card would work, or if there is a lock in the BIOS that will prevent it from working (I read somewhere that even if Lenovo uses such cards, the ones you can purchase in stores would not work).
    Thanks,
    Mike

Thank you for your answer. I appreciate.
Since my question, I've found a solution for my wifi card to work. It was given by "electrochain". It just consisted by manually disabling a specific pin on my card. And now, it works.
    Thank you again.
    Best regards

  • How can I turn on the mini-PCI WiFi card on Satellite 1905-S301?

greetz! I have installed an optional mini-PCI wireless LAN card into my Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 notebook and turned on its power switch. MS WXP Pro SP2 recognized the hardware and installed its drivers - there is no cross or question mark next to the Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter in the Device Manager. However the Wireless Network Connection Manager is telling me there is no wireless adapter present. When hitting Fn+F8 a window pops up saying There is no build-in wireless LAN.
What do I need to do to enable my optional wireless LAN mini-PCI card??? If possible, email your suggestions to my email, please!

    Hi
You have to enable the WLan switch at the notebook side!!!
Additional select the WLan card properties and check the Advanced tab.
There should be an option called Radio on/off. You have to set it to on.
    greetings

  • X121e, other uses for WWAN mini PCIe slot?

Does anyone know whether the mini PCIe slot in the X121e that the optional WWAN card goes in can be used for other cards?
I'm aware of the whitelist, which had been suggested may only apply to wireless devices (e.g. WLAN and WWAN) - although I'm not sure whether that's certain (i.e. doesn't apply for non-wireless devices).
I've heard some people have tried mSATA devices in this slot with no success (which isn't suprising as whilst mini PCIe is physically compatible with mSATA it isn't electrically, and so you need mSATA support in the hardware).  However I've been wondering about mini PCIe SSD cards and whether they would work.  I've heard that they're not brilliant when compared to mSATA devices - however I can't afford to get a large SSD for this machine, and in general, people don't need to store all their MP3/videos on SSD, as the best benefit comes with the OS and applications being stored on the SSD, with user data being fine on an HDD.  My using a mini PCIe SSD, I could potentially put the OS etc onto a cheaper/smaller SSD, with the hard drive for 'data'.
Has anyone tried this, or any other non-wireless mini PCIe devices in the X121e?
    Thanks

Might be of interest to you that I tried a half mini pcie micro sd card reader in my X301.  It would allow 64gb if it worked.  However I got an error message on boot up - can't remember exactly what it was.  Other than that the only other option was the intel turbo memory which was of little benefit to me.

  • Does dm1z 3000 Laptop have an Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive add on?

Trying to figure out if my dm1z 3000 Laptop has an Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive add on. I opened the back of my laptop and it looks like it has a slot I can place a Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive.  But my concern is will that slot work for placing Windows 7 OS on that Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive. [Personal Information Removed]

As far as I know that slot supports a WWAN module and nothing else.

  • Wireless mini PCI card for Satellite P10

    Hi all,
can anyone help me find a wireless mini pci card for my Satellite P10-304 in the UK?

    Hi
I found several WLAn minPCI Wlan cards which could be compatible with the Satellite P10 notebook.
Wireless LAN card PA3212U-4MPC (Agere 802.11b)
    PA3273U-2MPC (Atheros 802.11ab)
    PA3300U-1MPC (Atheros 802.11g)
    PA3298U-1MPC (Atheros 802.11a/g)
Please take a look on the WLan 802.11 standards!
If you WLan router support an 802.11 standard I would recommend taking the PA3273U-2MPC or PA3212U-4MPC

  • IdeaPad U550 WLAN-Karte wechseln

    Gruß

    Hallo Phoenix6454, willkommen im Forum,
    welches WLAN Karte hast Du jetzt im Gerät eingebaut?  Laut die Ersatzteilliste (67KB pdf) passt die 6250 WiMax Karte. (FRU 60Y3195).  Nach weitere Rescherche scheint dies Karte die folgende Karte zu sein;
    Intel Advanced-N Wimax 6250
    http://ark.intel.com/products/59468/Intel-Centrino-Advanced-N--WiMAX-6250-Dual-Band
Die gleiche FRU ist auch auf die T520 usw. Ersatteilliste zu finden. (ein Bisschen nach Unten scrollen bitte)

  • G500 half mini PCIE ssd??

    Hey Lenovo Community
     I recently purchased a new G500 i5 3230m+radeon 8750m on the 30th December, yesterday I added an extra 4gb 1600 ram
and saw a that there is a half mini PCIE wireless LAN card, I can sacrifice that and put a half mini PCIE ssd, will it work or do I need to do something in the BIOS? That is my main concern.
Also, what would I need to prepare before replacing stock HDD with SSD 2.5'? Do I need to clone this drive or I should just make a recovery DVD and pop it in once I installed the SSD 2.5'? Will everything install smoothly especially the OS (windows 8.1)?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Jessie

    hi jcagara08,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I believe this will work as the miniPCIE in your system supports Data signaling for both WLAN and SSD.
It should be detected right away once rebooted.
    Replacing HDD with SSD.
If your Operating System is Above Windows 8, you wont have an option to create Recovery CD using the One key Recovery,
I may suggest using Paragon Backup & Recovery 12 Home (free trial) and use the Migrate option (see this thread).

  • S10e bootable from mini PCIe SSD?

    Hi
I'd like to keep the SATA bay reserved for a regular hard drive for storage capacity (using the S10e as companion for camera) but also speed up boot time with a SSD.
Is it possibe to boot the S10e from a mini PCIe SSD card with SATA controller on the card, i.e.

    Rgds/Kjeld Olesen

    Hi again,
to clear your quest , you want to remove the WLAN minipci-e card and install a minipci-e SSD instead ,
... that will not work at all not recognized from BIOS, will only recognize WLAN cards ... and even when ...there is no boot from that  device...
one other way would be the   Express Card Slot 34 on the right side , but there is no boot option again  ...
...by the way 2.5" harddrive with 9.5 mm high with 1 TB capacity is available and recognized 100% by your Ideapad ,
... enough for huge pictures  and faster than origin harddrive  ...

  • Startup gets 'Network cable unplugged' on mini-PCI wireless card

I recently installed a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and now have an intermittent problem connecting my Tecra 9100 to it. If the 9100 has been shutdown for a while (like overnight), when I restart I always get 'Network cable unplugged' for the wireless connection. Rebooting a number of times (anything from 3 upwards) I eventually get connected to the router and all then works fine for hours. Even a quick restart at this point (i.e. once the wireless card has connected) does not cause a problem but as soon as I leave the machine shutdown for a length of time it fails again at reboot.
There are no errors in the Event log.
I am using the built in mini-PCI wireless card and have already upgraded to the latest driver.
Any ideas gratefully recieved, at the moment each morning is a 20-30 minute frustration of rebooting trying to get my connection working.
    (Running Win2K Professional)

Checking other boards for help (Netgear etc.) it seems that the 'Network cable unplugged' is a common message when wireless connectivity is failing. However, to prove the point, I have disabled the other LAN card (for which I was also getting 'network cable unplugged' but as expected since it was). I still get the same issue with the wireless card, although now the reboots are slightly more predictable - it normally seems to succeed on the third reboot. I guess disabling the other card has changed the startup timing slightly and in that way made things slightly better.
Again, any other suggestions gratefully received. As this seems to be a timing issue at startup, I am suspicious that one of the other things that runs at that time is causing the problem.

More info : I have found that this is time related rather than related to the number of reboots. It always fails on the first reboot after being shut down for a period of time. At this point, however long I wait the connection never comes up. However, if I wait a few minutes and then reboot, the second reboot will always successfully establish the connection.
On this basis, the problem has become slightly less annoying as I have a workaround - boot once, wait a few minutes and reboot. That being said, any information on how I can isolate this further (e.g. tracing what is running at startup) would be gratefully recieved.

  • SSD in Mini-PCIe slot on mid-2009 MacBook Pro

    Hi all
I've just bought a mid-2009 MacBook Pro (the one with a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo and 9400M and 9600M GT).
I want to add an SD to the current mechanical storage to install OS X and programs on. I don't want an Optibay as I would rather keep the optical drive so I am now looking at the Mini PCI-Express SSD drives. Currently the Airport card is in that slot, and I can replace that with a small USB Wi-Fi dongle.
My question is does the slot run at full speed (i.e. 1x or 2x, as I hear some run at USB 2.0 speeds only), and is it fully-functional or has Apple limited it to the Airport cards only, as Toshiba do with some of their laptops?

I'm not talking about the ExpressCard slot, I'm talking about the Mini PCI Express slot. I haven't opened the mid-2009 model yet but I presume it has a Mini PCIe slot with a Mini PCIe Airport card in with the aerials surrounding the display, like 99% of laptops and the other MacBooks?

  • MSata vs mini PCIe

I think I have this right...mini PCIe is for periphery cards (e.g. wifi) but sometimes can be used for SSDs, while mSATA is used for SSDs, and nothing else, right?
The T430s has both a mSATA (for a boot/storage SSD) and a mini PCIe (populated by the wifi module), yes?
    Tangentaly related...
On eBay, I see there is a 4gb intel "turbo cache" memory module that fits mini PCIe; says it's for Thinkpads T400 and X200. For example:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-4G-4GB-Turbo-Cache-Memory-Half-Size-Mini-PCI-E-Card-For-Thinkpad-T400-...
I assume this module could not be used as a storage or boot drive? Since it says it's for cache, it would get erased upon powering down or restting, yes?
I'm scheming on using a small PCIe-based SSD coupled with a full size PCIe adapter card for a simple boot drive on a FreeNAS server.

    wiki comes through...
    mSATA
An mSATA SSD on top of a 2.5 inch SATA drive
Mini-SATA, which is distinct from the micro connector, was announced by the Serial ATA International Organization on September 21, 2009.[29] Applications include netbooks and other devices that require a smaller solid-state drive. The connector is similar in appearance to a PCI Express Mini Card interface,[30] and is electrically compatible; however, the data signals (TX±/RX± SATA, PETn0 PETp0 PERn0 PERp0 PCI-express) need connection to the SATA host controller instead of the PCI-express host controller. Due to the absence of a standard for quite some time, there is still some confusion around this subject. For host devices which support either an mSATA SSD or mini-PCIe card interchangeably, this application note from NXP explains how to use a PCI-express/SATA router chip. This chip is essentially a four-channel bi-directional multiplexer. The vast majority of computer motherboards however have single-purpose headers which may support one of either an mSATA SSD or mini-PCIe card, but not both interchangeably.
So I'm guessing the Lenovo is interchangable?
