    Hi experts and wanna-be experts:
Welcome to the Utilities space on SCN.
Before anything else, read The SCN Rules of Engagement

Before posting your question or response, please ensure that you have followed these basic rules:
Search the forum to ensure that the question has not already been asked and/or answered.  Use the text or tag filter.  Duplicate posts will be removed.  Consistent violations will result in loss of forum privileges.
Ask specific questions - how can I default value 'X' in process Y instead of tell me how ISU works.  Here is a blog Asking Good Questions in the SCN Discussion Spaces will help you get Good Answerswith hints on how to ask questions the right way and [another|http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html] with great internet forum tips.  Generic posts will be removed.  Consistent violations will result in loss of forum privileges.
Asking for documentation about billing or meter reading, etc is not allowed. Posts will be locked immediately.
Do your work prior to posting.  The forums are not a replacement for your own research.  Show what you have investigated.  Intelligent, thoughtful posts will get the best responses.
Do not share your email address within your posting.  Add it to your profile or send a user a direct message.  Sharing email addresses within threads is not permitted and the content will be removed.

  • Do you know where is the rules of engagement ? How often do you read It ?

    Hi,
Do you know where is the [rules of engagement|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/FgQ] ?
Many people know exactaly where it is, but i noted that major of SCN never read this document.
Today i noted this document link in:
Left box menu in [Community Guidelines|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/communityguidelines] on the folowing pages: [Forum|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/forums] , [Wiki|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki] and [Blogs|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs].
    [Expert Forums|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1]
    Some Forum has a locked thread like [Welcome and Rules of Engagement|Welcome and Rules of Engagement;
There people that never saw this document before. Others already saw but they never read( this is other problem ).
The SCN is a dinamyc community so the rule can be changed at any moment. How often do you check it for updatings  ? We know that the general rule probably won't be changed but new rules can be added !
Wouldn't It be a good idea if this document link stay in All Threads next to link Reply to this Thread or in any place of this page ?
    Thanks,
    Marcelo Ramos

    Hi Marilyn,
Please tell me if I'm wrong but when I see new SCN member or someone that doesn't respect the community's rules I add the one of the following phrase:
"Welcome to SDN Forum. Don't forget to read the [rules of engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement] !" As the follow [thread|Program with Top includes;.

"Lets make the SDN better we are responsible for this !" As the follow [thread|want to upgrade GUI to ECC 6.0.;.
    "PS.: Others SDN member can use your question resolve their problems, so is important you don't forget to mark this Thread as answered when your question be answered !" As the follow [thread|SAP ECC 6.0 GUI;
I noted that it's working for some people ! mainly for New SCN members !

  • A new "Read the rules of engagement" plague?

Has someone else recognized the the new phenomenon of someone posting a trivial and/or meaningless question and several respondents finding it worthwile to post something like
    Welcome to SDN.
Please read the Rules of Engagement....Your thread will be locked ....blablabla....
Sometimes I think there are a lot of Strange Characters out there
    anton.

    Hi Vijay,
Yes, I know. Also the person might cross-post after someone has (correctly) answered the first thread.
That is why I do not always delete everything from cross-posted interview question series - but a plausibility check is advisable anyway.
When people stop answering those types of questions, then eventually the folks who are too lazy to search will stop asking them.
Goal => Search first, ask specific questions later!
    > Recently it happened once.
Sorry about that. Rules are rules, and currently they are rather strict.
I look very much forward to the day when we can relax the strict moderation again
From what I can tell, the "urgnt" and "plz riward" are now a thing of the past (relatively speaking).
Any other tips or tricks for combating the copy&pasters and the interview questions? They seem to be the hardest ones to crack.
    Cheers,
    Julius

SDN has now introduced a <a href="/people/mark.finnern/blog/2004/08/03/announcing-the-contributor-recognition-program Recognition Program</a>. Which in short text means that for each question you have 10 points, which can be given to the person that answers your question.
Why worry? But at the end of the day, all of us are human, and a small recognition goes a long way. This way, you win in getting a good answer. The person answering gets that warm feeling of having helped and with enough points gets a small reward.
SDN is a community that lives for and from its users. Which means when asking a question, <b>you also assume the responsibility</b> to assign the points. Recommended is that you assign 6 or 10 points once to the answer/person that helped you the most. Assign 2 points to everyone that contributed something. See also <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/Contributor+Recognition">FAQ</a>.

Welcome to the SAP forums. Before you post, make yourself first familiar with the rules of engagement.
<b>Disclaimer:</b> This is <b>NOT</b> a support channel. For urgent problems, especially if it concerns your business, <b>SAP Service Channel</b> is the only way to go! If the place where your problem gets logged and tracked, where there are escalation processes available, and where we can involve different groups as appropriate to get a problem solved. Problems can and will only be handled via SAP Service Channel, not in this forum.
    <b>Step 1: Finding your answer</b>
Rule number one: Try to find the answer first. There are tons of resources out there, show that you have tried to find the answer. A question that shows that the person is willing to try and help themselves is more likely to be answered than one which simply demands information. Tell us what you have tried to solve the problem yourself - often we can learn from that too!
Search the forums, the articles, the blog posts and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in the WIKI ( https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki ) for your topic.
    <b>Step 2: Asking a question</b>
Once you have verified that no resources are available solving your problem, ask your question. Do the following:
    <b>- Use a good subject line</b>
The subject header is your golden opportunity to attract qualified experts' attention in around 50 characters or fewer. Don't waste it on babble like "Workflow question". As we all have busy jobs, often we just skim through the list headings and read those that interest us. Also, DO NOT reply to an unrelated post to ask a different question. This confuses those reading the thread and may lose people that would be interested in your question. Always start a new topic with a new mail.
Bad subject: <i>Urgent problem with workflow</i>
Good subject: <i>Error after transport: "Inconsistent workflow definition"</i>
Do not use any of the words urgent, quickly, burning, etc in your message. Especially not in the title! This just irritates and does not help you to get to your goal. From our side, we definitely not answer faster, nor better when we see these hot words.
The same for such things as ??? or !!! in appends. In English language one ? or ! is sufficient to terminate a sentence.
<b>- Only one question per posting</b>
For each question that you have, make a separate posting. Don't ask multiple question in one pisting, this is confusing for people and might not get answered, as the subject line is not reflecting all your problems. If a new and unrelated question comes up during a thread, start a new thread.
    <b>- Provide enough information.</b>
For starters, please tell us which version and type of system you're working on - e.g. SAP R/3 4.6C or SRM 4.0 (EBP 5.0). If your question is regarding an error, include the message. If it is a request for info, please be specific. Questions such as "How do I administer workflow" are vague, tell us exactly what you want to know - "I'm the administrator, how do I forward work items to another agent?". If it's a big query, rather break it down into separate questions.
    <b>- Re-read your query before submitting it.</b>
Put yourself in a reader's position - does the question make sense? Can I understand the problem? Is this enough information to be able to answer the problem?
This is a very valuable technique, because many questions end up answering themselves when you read them carefully. It also leads to better questions. Many list readers like good questions, especially if they are thought-provoking and thus help all of us understand things better. This is one of the main reasons many experienced consultants read the list regularly.
<b>- Why is nobody answering my question?</b>
There may be variety of reasons:
    1) never assume that you are entitled to an answer. Remember: this is a community forum; the people on the list have jobs just like you and respond voluntarily. Perhaps nobody knows the answer.
    2) Did you let other users enough time? Don't be impatient. If the question is urgent, go to the official support channel.
    3) Is your subject misleading, your post in the right forum or your problem description understandable?
    <b>Step 3: Give feedback and an update</b>
Lastly, it's also nice to <b>follow up with a brief update </b>if you have found the solution. People may try to help not because they know the answer, but because they are interested in solving the same problem; or people may just encounter the same issue in the future and be searching the archives. It's a good way of giving back to the community, irrespective of whether you are a beginner or an expert.
    <b>Step 4: Thank others by giving points</b>
SDN is place where developers meet other developers. One takes the time to see the problems other developers are facing, the time to read possible solutions (to learn), and maybe one day the time to answer some questions.

  • Import dimension and member via maxl, how to create data file and rule file

    Hi
I have a task to import dimension and member into Essbase, for project requirement, I have to use text file or spreadsheet file.
I wonder which format can be imported into Essbase?
I tried to create them, failed.
Do you have any samples to help me? dimension file and rule file...
I search a lot in http://gerardnico.com/wiki/epm/essbase/dimension_build#about , but there are no samples.
    Thanks in advance...
    Best regards,
    Samantha

import database Sample.Basic data from data_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.txt' using rules_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.rul' on error append to 'C:\TEMP\logs\dimbuild.log';Here issue is not with rulefile but in reading the rule file.
I hope rule file is in the database directory (By default it will get saved there only)
    Try with the below command
    import database Sample.Basic data from data_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.txt' using server rules_file 'GENREF' on error append to 'C:\TEMP\logs\dimbuild.log';
Rule file also had one issue
Market, Product, Measures, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, DecHere I am seeing only four dimensions from the Sample.Basic database
Scenario is missing. So define Actual (Scenario Dimension member) in the rule file header definition.
All dimensions must be identified to parse one data file with rule file.
PS: Naming (GENREF) is also irrelevant if you are loading data. It is apt for dim load.

  • Help on Time type 0903, Identifying Schema and Rule configuration?

Can you please help me with the following:
    1. What is time type 0903?
    2. How to identify schema and rule configuration?
    3. How do I identify the number of employees affected in case I have to make a configuration change?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    1) Time type is identified according to what purpose it is used. Check table T555A for details on why it is used in your configuration.
    2) There is no configuration in schema and rule. Schema and rules has the programs in them.
3)What configuration changes you are planning to do? Depending on this we can then try to identify who is affected.
    Hope this answers your questions.
Let me know if you need more info on how to configure time management and write schema and rules.

  • Implementing roles and rules based authorisation with Azure AD

    Hi all,
I would greatly appreciate some input on feasibility and patterns I should look at for a complex technical requirement that I am currently tasked with designing.
We have a system that comprises a web and mobile app. In the past we have implemented session based authentication through ADAM and authorisation through custom business rules contained within the applications. The authentication mechanism is in the process
of being migrated to Azure AD and authorisation is planned to be moved to Azure AD for our next release.
Existing authorisation within our web application is already complex. We have users that belong to different groups with a range of permissions such as read, write or admin. Additionally each user is granted access to N customers and also N locations within
each customer. We have a requirement that any number of combinations of customers and locations be supported. Users also need to have different permissions for each entity, i.e. read access to customer 1 location 2, write access to customer 4 and administer
customer 7. Currently these privileges are maintained within a relational database and enforced as part of each PageLoad(). Essentially this is a combination of roles and rules based authorisation.
We are struggling to represent this complex matrix structure within Azure AD and efficiently implement the authorisation decision in Azure AD. The driver for this technical requirement is to provide re-usability of the authorisation component to other (as
    yet unidentified) applications.
Currently the best option we have come up with is implementing custom attributes for each class of permissions and storing within this 2048 bit field a bitmask that represents whether this permission is granted for a given location (which has a many to one
    relationship with customer).
Any help or comment would be gratefully received,
    Phil

    Hi
When "Advance routing" is used for Task assignment; the task service asserts the folllowing fact types : Task, PreviousOutcome and TaskAction to the rules engine. These facts gives all the reqd info about the task (like outcome of the participant, task stage .. etc)
Now in the defined ruleset; we can have rules as per our requirement that can extract info from the asserted fact types and assign task to the required/next participant.
Also note that we write the advance rules for exception cases only.
For example; let's say all participants have 2 possible Outcomes [COMPLETE, RECHECK]. We have defined the ideal task routing flow as :
Participant A -> Participant B -> Participant C. This is the flow when all participant selects "COMPLETE"
Now suppose B selects outcome as "RECHECK" then the task shld move back to A. So for this case only we need to write a advance rule.
Pls refer to the code sample at : http://download.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/hwf/workflow-106-IterativeDesign.zip
Also dev guide : refer to section 28.3.7.2 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_hwfmodel.htm#BABBFEJJ

  • Roles and Rules for workflow.

    Hi,
I have some basic conpectual problem about roles and rules.
What is the diffrenece between roles and rules in sap business workflow ?  What is the Tcode for Role creation/Change/Display and Rule creation/Change/Display ?
I am using a standard workflow for PR Release "WS20000077".
I have done all the setting except this agent assignment using roles or rules. The default rules used in the task "TS20000159" is "20000026". The Binding from workflow to rules container is also defined by the workflow itself.
This rules is defined using a function module. When I am putting a breakpoint in this function module and tring to execute my workflow it is not going to the given breakpoint but the workflow is running successfully as shown in the event trace "SWE2".
What could be the problem..Pls suggest?
