'Welcome page' icons

I'm thinking I'm understanding the distinction between the "welcome page' and the 'course' templates. Whenever I create a new page using the template 'Welcome page', the icon is a smaller version of my main Welcome page banner. I dont' see anywhere to edit or upload another icon for these new pages. Due to the structure of our iTunesU site, we need all three levels, so we need the main Welcome page, a second level of 'welcome' pages, then the course pages. I can edit the icons for the course pages just fine.
I alos tried creating a new template based on the 'Welcome page' template, but that did not have the ability to add in a new icon either.
Is this a bug? or is this by design?
Thanks all
Dual 2GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Nope, it did not affect the Welcome Page at all. It looks like each new page created from the 'welcome page' template has it's own independant icon. I suppose it originally had the Welcome banner attached to it becuase I created the new 'welcome' pages from the main 'Welcome Page' template
<whew> confusing...
Perhaps it would be nice if the template wasn't called 'welcome page' as to avoid the confusion. In any case, you should be able to create a new template by copying the welcome page and giving it a new name (and presumably, a new default icon).
Eric
Interesting ... does that then remove the ability to
have a banner on the welcome page? The idea is to
have a banner on the welcome page, but to have its
icon be the 300 x 300. I'll have to play with it.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro ver. 9.4.2 Portfolio Welcome Page, Headers, Footers

Acrobat 9.4.2 Portfolio Welcome Page, Headers, Footers
I recently upgraded to Acrobat 9.4.2 and now cannot save welcome page, headers, footers in portfolios I create. Portfolios created in previous verisions of 9.X.X. properly display welcome page, headers, footers in 9.4.2. Anyone with ideas? Is there some setting I am missing?

Josh, thanks for responding. Following summarizes my workflow:
    - Files selected via Windows Explorer, "Combine supported files in Acrobat" option.
    -  Select PDF portfolio, Combine.
    -  After portfolio is saved, Acrobat opens in the Home Page view displaying thumbnails of the converted files and Edit Portfolio already selected.
    -  Select Welcome Page, Image and Text insert same.
    -  Select Header, Logo and Structured Text, insert same.
    -  When finished, select Done.
    -  Select Save Portfolio icon.
    -  Deselect Edit Portfolio.
    -  Close Acrobat.
    -  Open portfolio, either double-clicking portfolio file name or starting Acrobat and selecting Open, file name.
    - Acrobat opens portfolio in Home view. The Welcome Page icon is grayed out.
The above is my normal workflow; however, I observed that if after creating the portfolio's Welcome Page and Header and when exiting the program, if I receive the message "Do you want to save changes to the por tfolio before closing?", the Welcome Page and Headers are in fact saved. This is a very workable solution to the problem for me. There seems to be something going with saving via the icon. If for reason I do not receive the above message and the program exits, the Welcome Page and Headers are not saved.
My operating system is WIndows XP Pro, SP3. BTW, 9.4.2 works fine on my Windows 7 machine and another XP machine with 9.0. Thanks in advance for your offer to help, but the workaround described above works and lowers my frustrationlevel considerably.

  • Why won't Reader X display Welcome page created in AA 9 Pro?

I created a Portfolio file in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro that includes a Welcome and want to view it in Adobe Reader X.  Adobe Reader X opens the file but does not launch the Welcome page first- only the file icons page is displayed.  The Welcome page is displayed properly only if the file is opened in AA 9.  Did I miss a setting somewhere in AA9 that activates the Welcome in AR X and if so, where?

I am suddenly having the exact same error and PT 8 LE crash!!
Regardless of what Avid website says or anyone who quotes their official statement, I have been using PT 8.0.1 on 10.6.8 since 2010 with a Mbox 1, on a Macbook Pro, a Mac Mini and an iMac. It has ran perfectly all this time, never had any issues or crashes.  I have a bunch of plug-ins and have never had one single issue with anything. Now suddenly, I had to replace a hard-drive in my iMac (2011 3.4 i7) and re-installed PT 8 and then update to 8.0.1 and I get this crash error when opening PT:  EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP). I also cant even complete the 8.0.1 update installer because it fails at the last step: "run postflight script for Interlok Extensions".
This is so frustrating because I have installed this software more than a few times in the past 4 years and never had an issue.  This is totally out of left-field.
I cant find anything on the web, except I am seeing a few posts like this pop up recently. If anyone can come up with a solution, please let us know!
Again, it is totally untrue that PT 8.0 does not run on 10.6.8 because I have recorded over a 1000 sessions on it.

  • The Calendar on the ".Mac Welcome" page

What is the source of data shown on the ".Mac Welcome" page ?
Does the data displayed on the web page come from using Apple's Backup program or or from publishing one or more calendars?
Are all calendars merged together or is it all selective as to which ones are viewable ?

    Irwin,
The calendar on the .Mac welcome page will not reflect any of your calendar information. It only displays a calendar that allows the user to change the display of the selected month by using the <◇> icon. If the current month is selected it will display the current day in red.
This has been a source of confusion for many users and I agree that Apple has not provided a clear explanation. It would be nice to have the additional features that you want/need for an improved user interface I suggest that you Provide iCal Feedback.

  • Adding Background music to welcome page on Iweb.. any ideas? instructions?

looking to add background music to my welcome page on iweb. any easy instructions? thanks daniel malibu

Take a look at my page "source" code for some clues.
Editing published pages is as easy as opening the "raw" html code in TextEdit (preferences set to "plain" text) and applying your edits (copy/paste simple).
But once you edit these pages any changes made by the iWeb application and a new "publish" would remove your hand edited code.
To change what appears in your "Title" would only require you edit that line of code. To add metatags is the same.
The "snippet" part of iWeb 2 is always in the "body" part of the page code. Title and custom icons are part of the "head" tag code. Javascript code could be in even more parts depending on its function.
None of this is for the faint of heart or for those that don't understand the basics of html page code.
Open your published iWeb 2 page with a text editor and edit the "title" tag code to change the displayed "name". To add a custom icon requires you upload a 16X16 image file (the size of the icon in the browser address bar), upload that file to your server and then use that URL in the edited html code for your page. These are part of the "head" tag code.
    Hope this helps.

  • Pages icon keeps jumping on my mac?

    how do u fix this?

    Hi falfad,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Are you asking about the Pages icon on the Dock of your iMac?   Check your Dock preferences in System preferences for your Mac.  You may have your icons set to bounce when you open an application.  Icons on the dock will also bounce when there needs to be some action taken in the application.

  • Welcome page ammendements

    Hi,
I want to make some ammendements to the home page. I know its in welcome page file but how do I delete/activate the quick link icons?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
The items in the Quick Start box are not links - it is just to inform the user of what each option does. It is a little outdated as the OrgChart icon used to be on the OrgChart button in TVN1.1 and below. You could make them hyperlinks by removing the line that produces the box and adding some HTML code that opens up the relevant pages.
    <asp:Table id="tblModInformation" runat="server" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="2" border="0"></asp:Table><br />
You can use the aspx pages or the javascript launch function for the modules you want to put there.
    I hope that helps!

  • How do I fix add-on welcome pages that keep reappearing?

This has been happening to me in version 32. The pages reappear every time I restart Firefox. I kill them, re-start the browser, and it happens again. Searching around the web for a fix, someone suggested restoring Firefox to its defaults. Did that, and it worked, but the problem eventually recurs, after I began customizing the browser again. I have the program set for fairly high security. I also have it set to reload my tabs from the previous session, but this gets changed to "show my homepage" without my action, and the welcome pages line up in tabs once again. Clearing history failed; checking for viruses proved negative.

    Hello,
I had this problem in older versions of Firefox - for some reason they kept appearing until I quit Firefox from the menu. First make sure that your start-up settings aren't set to load the previous session:
    * Tools (or menu [[Image: New Fx Menu]]) > Options > General
Then exit Firefox from the menu:
    * File > Exit, or [[Image: New Fx Menu]] > Exit Firefox (bottom right-most icon)
Start Firefox again and hopefully they won't pop up again until the next update. If your preferences are not getting saved, see if the article [[How to fix preferences that won't save]] can provide some more help on that.

  • Reconstructed Welcome page will not animate a .gif clipart

Upon having to reconstruct my Welcome page because the weblinks had to be re-entered thanks to a friend informing me they were not engaging, upon rectifying the weblinks, when I published the changes, the animated gif did not appear. After several attempts, I reconstructed the page by getting a fresh page. I was able to successfully copy-paste the contents, retype the side-bar that included web links, pasted in from file, the animated gif. It pasted in but would not animate. I tried many times over with no results. Gifs located on other pages are active. But, this one that is animated on the website were I download it

Yes, it is about the flying dove. I'm not changing the subject, apologies, if you thought I was.
Yes, the dove animates on the previous welcome page which no longer exists as I am in the process of uploading the entire website. I will not know if the animation occurs until I finish the upload.
Right, you are. It is not an iWeb issue if the gif file does not animate when I open the file on the desktop. But, as I typed this sentence, my brain awoke to the idea that I must not open the file, copy, paste it into iWeb. Instead, one must drag the file into iWeb. I just tried that and VOILA! the animated bar is there.
You just prodded me enough to resort to using my brain with your last sentence. I had completely forgotten that gif files are drag files.
    Case resolved.
Again, thanks, for taking up your time to move me forward. One gets bogged down, if not weary, when they have problems with their projects.
    Cheerio!

  • How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user

    gurus,
    i'm using -
    Oracle 9i Database
    Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
    1. logged into portal
    2. clicked on builder
    3. clicked on administer tab
    4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
    5. went to the preferences tab
    6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
    7. logged out of portal
    8. open a new browsere session
    9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
    Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
    The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
    buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
    infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
    sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
    ideas anyone ....?
    thanx a bunch.
    hero

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.
    Regards,
    Ved

  • How do i make a photo slideshow / banner for the welcome page in iWeb

How do i create a photo slideshow or fading slidshow for the welcome page in iweb

There are trillions of slideshows to be found on the internets.
Download the one you like, make it work the way you want and put it on the server.
Display it in the browser to see if it looks the way you want.
Then use the <iframe> html element to display it in a HTML Snippet.

  • Can't change the color of text of links on my Welcome Page

I have a Welcome page with four links that happen to be text that I dragged over from my list of sites. I can change the text style and size but I cannot change the color from the default reddish brown.

To change the color of any hyperlinks, you need to select the link, go to the Hyperlink page, choose the Format option, and then select the color you want for Normal, Rollover, Visited and Disabled.
    This should work.
You can also set the default colors and formats you want for all other entries on that same page.
