Welcome page uploading incorrectly

My "Welcome" page is not loading correctly. In iWeb it all looks correct, but when I publish and look at it online, the "blog" page goes to a different page, and several of the other pages are named incorrectly. What can I do to correct?

Please provide your url so others can see what is going on, including verifying that your problem is not just a local one caused by not clearing your browser cache, etc.

  • Reconstructed Welcome page will not animate a .gif clipart

Upon having to reconstruct my Welcome page because the weblinks had to be re-entered thanks to a friend informing me they were not engaging, upon rectifying the weblinks, when I published the changes, the animated gif did not appear. After several attempts, I reconstructed the page by getting a fresh page. I was able to successfully copy-paste the contents, retype the side-bar that included web links, pasted in from file, the animated gif. It pasted in but would not animate. I tried many times over with no results. Gifs located on other pages are active. But, this one that is animated on the website were I download it

Yes, it is about the flying dove. I'm not changing the subject, apologies, if you thought I was.
Yes, the dove animates on the previous welcome page which no longer exists as I am in the process of uploading the entire website. I will not know if the animation occurs until I finish the upload.
Right, you are. It is not an iWeb issue if the gif file does not animate when I open the file on the desktop. But, as I typed this sentence, my brain awoke to the idea that I must not open the file, copy, paste it into iWeb. Instead, one must drag the file into iWeb. I just tried that and VOILA! the animated bar is there.
You just prodded me enough to resort to using my brain with your last sentence. I had completely forgotten that gif files are drag files.
    Case resolved.
Again, thanks, for taking up your time to move me forward. One gets bogged down, if not weary, when they have problems with their projects.
    Cheerio!

  • The Counter on Welcome page is not showing up. How to find it?

Bottomest line is: My first Welcome page is not showing the Counter. I put a counter on it and nothing shows. I tried disassembling the page by lifting layers, and maybe I did it incorrectly, but I cannot find the errant Counter.
I tried going to the menu and de-selecting the Counter and then selecting it again, but that did not fool iWeb. It did not put a second Counter on my Welcome page because it knows that Lorna already put one there and it does not care that to the average non-Superman eye, it is invisible.
    QUESTION:
How do I find that invisible Counter? What must I do, or do better?
    — Lorna in Southern California

Is the welcome page the page with the big picture of
a flower overlaying everything, linking into your
site? Your page source does show a counter to be
present at location 34 pixels from top of page and 40
pixels from the left, but you have the picture over
    it!
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
Yes, that is the welcome page: the pink flower. What page source? How do you see a page source? Anyhow, I went to the Welcome page in iWeb and moved the pink flower picture to the side and out of the window. I see nothing! No Counter and no picture covering a Counter. The only picture I see is my pink flower picture.
It is probably still counting, but you won't be able
to see it. If you remove your picture (or make it
smaller) and republish you will see it.
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
But I have moved the pink flower picture away and have cleared the field and see nothing. I did not make the picture smaller; if I can just push it out of the way, why would I need to make it smaller? (I suspect I am missing something here.)

  • Adding Background music to welcome page on Iweb.. any ideas? instructions?

looking to add background music to my welcome page on iweb. any easy instructions? thanks daniel malibu

Take a look at my page "source" code for some clues.
Editing published pages is as easy as opening the "raw" html code in TextEdit (preferences set to "plain" text) and applying your edits (copy/paste simple).
But once you edit these pages any changes made by the iWeb application and a new "publish" would remove your hand edited code.
To change what appears in your "Title" would only require you edit that line of code. To add metatags is the same.
The "snippet" part of iWeb 2 is always in the "body" part of the page code. Title and custom icons are part of the "head" tag code. Javascript code could be in even more parts depending on its function.
None of this is for the faint of heart or for those that don't understand the basics of html page code.
Open your published iWeb 2 page with a text editor and edit the "title" tag code to change the displayed "name". To add a custom icon requires you upload a 16X16 image file (the size of the icon in the browser address bar), upload that file to your server and then use that URL in the edited html code for your page. These are part of the "head" tag code.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS2580 Only my welcome page published, not the links to the other pages.  My server says they are there, but not showing up, any ideas?  Thanks.

I developed my web site and published it with myserver.  However only the first page shows up, no other pages, and the links to the other pages are missing on the welcome page.  The host tells me that it is a software problem, that the pages are on the server.  Pleae advise?
    Thank You.

Rest assured, your pages are there :
    http://www.lynxag.com/Welcome.html
    http://www.lynxag.com/Products.html
    http://www.lynxag.com/Photos.html
    http://www.lynxag.com/Contact_Us.html
    http://www.lynxag.com/feed.xml
You could have determined the presence of the pages by typing the pagenames in the URL.
The second option was to connect to the server and see with your own eyes what is there.
And since you do not use a Sitename in the URL, I assume you uploaded the files yourself instead of letting iWeb do the honours.
Regarding the Photo page, I do not see any photos on the page. Yet they are on the server too :
    http://www.lynxag.com/Photos_files/Media/
If you did put the files on the server yourself, verify that you did upload every single file iWeb creates.
Edit : since the directories are open, you may want to consider closing them. Ask your webhoster to do it for you.

  • Help Removing Music File From My Welcome Page

    Hello
Any help would be really appreciated as I'm new to all this!
I have dragged an mp3 file from Itunes into the welcome page of a site I'm making on IWeb.
I don't want it there now as it takes the page too long to load. I tried removing it but its gone from the actual page but when I save the site ready to upload with ftp the mp3 is there in one of the welcome files, also when I go to the site at work using firefox its looking for Quicktime to play it but you can't see it on the page!
    Many Thanks

  • Welcome page linking to mainpage?

I was wondering if i could make a welcome page that was linking to the main page without buying more than one domain?

Yes, but it is easier to create two different websites, so say the main site in English and then another site in French and you have two different sites.  When you create the links from the main site, you link to the French site and it will go directly to the French site.
When you publish your sites you only need one domain name, so what you would do is upload the first site and then upload the second site in the site folder, so that if you named it French for the French site your url would then be http://www.domain.com/French and so on.
You are better off creating two webites or basically create a new website for each language you want and then upload the folders to your server and simply create links between the sites in iWeb itself.

  • 'Welcome page' icons

I'm thinking I'm understanding the distinction between the "welcome page' and the 'course' templates. Whenever I create a new page using the template 'Welcome page', the icon is a smaller version of my main Welcome page banner. I dont' see anywhere to edit or upload another icon for these new pages. Due to the structure of our iTunesU site, we need all three levels, so we need the main Welcome page, a second level of 'welcome' pages, then the course pages. I can edit the icons for the course pages just fine.
I alos tried creating a new template based on the 'Welcome page' template, but that did not have the ability to add in a new icon either.
Is this a bug? or is this by design?
    Thanks all
    Dual 2GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Nope, it did not affect the Welcome Page at all. It looks like each new page created from the 'welcome page' template has it's own independant icon. I suppose it originally had the Welcome banner attached to it becuase I created the new 'welcome' pages from the main 'Welcome Page' template
    <whew> confusing...
Perhaps it would be nice if the template wasn't called 'welcome page' as to avoid the confusion. In any case, you should be able to create a new template by copying the welcome page and giving it a new name (and presumably, a new default icon).
    Eric
Interesting ... does that then remove the ability to
have a banner on the welcome page? The idea is to
have a banner on the welcome page, but to have its
icon be the 300 x 300. I'll have to play with it.

  • Can't post iWeb to Mac, have 58 welcome pages... Help?

I've had no problems with iWeb and i tried updating my site today. No errors came up during publishing but the site refuses to load. I've also noticed that I have multiple welcome pages (58 at the moment) which I'd like to delete as well.
Are these problems related and how do I delete the excess pages?

It looks as if the .Mac servers are having lots of trouble as of now (they may have crashed) so you may want to put off uploading until the servers have been restored, as this is most likely why your site is not loading.

  • IWeb welcome page design question

I am working on a web page for my company the company is divided into two sections. My question is this........ is there a way to creat just a welcome page with a link to one side of the company and then a second link to the other. THEN when you click on weither of those links you go to that part of the company and you do not see the other????
Basicly I want to host two web sites on one server but they share the same welcome page.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Most hosting services will allow you a fairly large number of sub-domains for each standard domain.
For example one of my accounts allows me to have 8 standard and 300 sub- domains.
You would create a Company website as the standard domain and then a sub-domain for each separate part of the company. The sub-domains are linked to the standard domains but are in separate folders on the server.
You can give people the URL for a sub-domain so that they can go straight there without having to visit the standard domain first.
The only time I had to do this I found it easier to build the standard domain and the subs as separate websites in iWeb so that I could load them one at a time and do updates without having to deal with the whole website.
This also makes the initial upload easier as well.
The first time I tried this I screwed it all up in my usual fashion and had to get the hosting service tech support to bail me out! It was a good learning experience.

  • Why is Acrobat labeling my page numbers incorrectly?

Whenever I open up Adobe Acrobat Pro X to convert a Word file to a PDF, it labels the page numbers incorrectly. For example, even though there are 8 pages it will say on the bottom right '1 out of 3 pages' or '7 out of 3 pages'. This also happens whenever I open the file in Word (2007) and click "save as --> PDF". The only time it gets the page numbers correct is when I open the file in Word, and click "Save As" and on the pop-up window I change the file type to PDF. The only problem with this is that most of the time I am trying to convert as many as 100 files at a time and this get can excruciatingly tedious after a while...please help and save me from a lot of clicking!
Let me know if you need anymore details...

I think you may find this happening if you print to paper from WORD also. As I recall, it was a bug in WORD and an update of WORD resolves the problem. However, it has been a long time since this has been reported and so I may have remembered wrong. It would not hurt to update Acrobat also. You did not mention the version number of either, or your OS, so I am just suggesting typical things.

  • How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user

    gurus,
    i'm using -
    Oracle 9i Database
    Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
    1. logged into portal
    2. clicked on builder
    3. clicked on administer tab
    4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
    5. went to the preferences tab
    6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
    7. logged out of portal
    8. open a new browsere session
    9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
    Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
    The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
    buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
    infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
    sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
    ideas anyone ....?
    thanx a bunch.
    hero

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.
    Regards,
    Ved

  • How do i make a photo slideshow / banner for the welcome page in iWeb

How do i create a photo slideshow or fading slidshow for the welcome page in iweb

There are trillions of slideshows to be found on the internets.
Download the one you like, make it work the way you want and put it on the server.
Display it in the browser to see if it looks the way you want.
Then use the <iframe> html element to display it in a HTML Snippet.
