Welcome Screen and Manual

1. I have been using Premiere Elements 7.0 for a while and have just installed PE8. Since I am quite familiar with the basics of PE I do not need the "Welcome Screen".
How can I get rid of it?
2. Where can I find a manual for PE8? (I stll have the one for PE7).

As far as the manual for PrE 8, I think that Steve Grisetti's Muvipix book is as good as it gets.
Regarding the Welcome Screen, there are a couple of threads on changing its behavior. Seems that ATR (A T Romano) offered a full set of tips on the Welcome Screen. I just do not recall the steps and will likely mess you up badly.

PSE 6 Blank welcome screen and nothing else

What happens if you turn off your internet and then start pse 6?
There has been a rash of posts over in the photoshop forum about photoshop cs3 doing something similar, so i wonder if it's related
since pse 6 is based on the cs3 code.
If it's the same thing, then that might be the registration screen your seeing (or not seeing because it's blank)
If you start pse 6 up without the internet on and it's the registration screen you see, press Never Register and that should hopefully resolve the issue.

Everytime I start Itunes, I get the Welcome Screen and everything is reset

everytime I start ITunes 64 bit on my Windows 7 64 bit PC, I get the Welcome Screen and all is reset.
Seems to be ITunes can not store the settings after closing.

I am having the same problem! Everything worked fine last week and now it looks as though iTunes is brand new. I can't sync my iphone without restoring. and I if I reload my library or even a song, nothing saves when closed. It just sits there empty.

OK. My friend had bought an iPhone 4 online, second hand. He does not have the SIM card. He had recently changed his passcode and FORGOT IT, and we had to restore it. The problem is that, after we restored, it askes for the SIM activation. And none of us have a MICRO SIM Card. So my question is how can I find out what carrier the iPhone is with if it is stuck on the welcome screen and if I can borrow someone elses SIM card to activate the phone so he can use it.
(we could not contact the person he bought the iPhone from to find out what carrier it is with.)

Go to the apple store and they will figure out what sim card it is.

I have checked for updates and it tells me I have the current version. I check in PS I have version 14.2.1. I also have CS6 installed on my PC, could this be somehow be doing something or am I doing something wrong. Would anyone have any suggestions.

Welcome screen and setup appeared out of nowhere!

I have G4 iMac, running 10.4.11. Upon logging out of my user, my iMac went to the welcome screen and the setup programme, as though I had just installed for the first time!
I decided to shut the machine down and now, when I restart, I get the gray screen and the apple shows up, but then it hangs and the fans start running.
HELP!!! What should I do?

Whew, we've got at the very least some Disk Corruption, occasionally this will work...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), if it eventually boots, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If not, "Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... though I was just thinking, this new User probably shouldn't be the same name as an existing one.

View your landscape photo with your phone in the upright position.
Tap on the photo once so the background goes black
Take a screenshot now by pressing the round button and the top button together.
Go back into your photos and find this new screenshot - then apply this as your wallpaper. You should be able to resize it :)

I would recomend reseting the PRAM. A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that Mac OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings. Hope this helps!

Want to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it will only start in Orgaizer, can't get to welcome screen and the .exe file that Adobe said to look for does not exist on my files

Have tried to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it continues to start in Organizer. I do not want my pictures loaded in Organizer at all. Saw a page on the web that said to click on an .exe editor file but that is not on my files. Also cannot get a welcome screen to come up, only an organizer even though I checked it the first time to come up in photo editor. I'm now having Organizer crammed down my throat. Tried online chat but was cut off with the statement that no support is offered for v12 any longer.

You failed to say which operating system you are running on so I'm assuming it is Windows of some type.
You should be able to find the following files, using explorer, depending on your system.
64bit system: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
32bit system: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Double clicking on that should start the editor - suggest to create a shortcut to it.
If you can't find one of those files, then you either installed it somewhere else or you need to re-install elements.

Thousand of small stripes on the welcome screen and then My Macbook pro 17"

Sunday ( 3 days ago ) after a call with skype my computer freezed.
I forced to reboot but the screen appear with strange short stripes in series of 5 all over the display. This when the Apple ws behind them in the center of the screen. And this is the only sign of life my computer does, After that is just a light blu screen with no arrow.
I installed the last adobe suite 1 mnth ago, and the last OS a couple of month ago, but I do not think these events are related. But just after that my Laptop frezeed a couple of times , I fixed that with a simple reboot.
I´m desperate cause I have all the time machine stuff on an external drive that just crashed the week before that
what should I do?!

Will your MacBook Pro start into [FireWire target disk mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8443.html]? If so you can get your vital files off of the MBP before you do anything that might lose the files.

You could also:
Go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalisation > Tones > Scroll down to "Warning tones" and change to "Off"
You will also lose "low battery sound" and "camera shutter sound" to name a couple more if set to "Off"

PSE 7 Welcome Screen startup options and turning off the advertising

The PSE 7 Welcome Screen no longer provides a start-up option for bypassing it and going directly to the Organizer or Editor. In addition, many people are annoyed by the advertising for Photoshop.com on the Welcome Screen and by the constant flashing tips in the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor.
Here are some workarounds:
Create shortcuts directly to the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to
> C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0
Find the file PhotoshopelementsEditor.exe, right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. You can then drag the shortcut to your desktop or the Start Menu. Alternatively, you can right click photoshopelementseditor.exe and click Pin To Start Menu, which will place a shortcut on the Windows Start menu. Do the same thing for the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe.
Turn off the advertising on the Welcome Screen. By turning off the advertising, you can still use the Welcome Screen to get to the Organizer, the Editor, Photoshop.com, and the tutorials. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
>C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Welcome Screen Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone (The path is a little different on XP.)

I am using XP and the path to the folder is as follows:
C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
However, I can't figure out how to "set the permissions". Is this possible in XP? Could someone please elaborate.
I am only interested in changing the tips (in the lower right corner that lead you to photoshop.com) in the Editor, since I do not use the Welcome Screen or Organizer.
