Welcome screen never comes up when starting Pre 12

At first it did but then stopped. I trashed the Prefs and no help here. I uninstalled and did a clean install and still no Welcome screen? Yes I can select it from the Help menu and tell it to start with e Welcome but it still does not appear. Anyone have a clue?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
First go from the 12 to 12.1 Update (See Help Menu/Update).
Assuming that you are running your program on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit and that the program was installed to the default Local Disc C location
Go to
Local Disk C
Program Files
Adobe
Premiere Elements 12
and in the Premiere Elements 12 Folder are:
Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe
and
Adobe Premiere Elements.exe
Double click the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe file. Does the program open to its Welcome Screen?
You say that you are instructing the Welcome screen to open with Welcome screen by going to settings and selecting Welcome
Screen, followed by Done. Are you hitting Done as your final action there before you close out of the program and reopen it?
If so, if you cannot set for Welcome Screen, can you set for Organizer or Video Editor with the Welcome Screen settings?
More later.
Looking forward to your follow up.
Thank you.

  • Screen Saver Come On When Unwanted

OK, this one has me stumped. It started about a week ago.
Using 10.5.8 on a Dual G5 Power Mac, the screen saver comes on even though all of the Preferences settings are set to be off. This happens even when there are computer processes going on, such as recording a long movie screen capture using SnapZPro for example.
The Screen Saver preference pane Time slider is all the way to NEVER. All the Hot Corners are set to nothing. Yet it still comes on.
I could not find a Screen Saver .plist to trash in order to try and reset it.
    Any suggestions for a fix?
    Thanks in advance.

Also take a look at the Energy Saver settings for when the display is set to go blank / dark / turn off.

  • Welcome screen does not appear when I open Elements 10

Following installation of a new hard drive, I re-installed Elements 10.  However, I now don't get the Welcome page when I open it. It goes straight to EDIT. This never happened before.  How do I change this so that the Welcome page appears?  I have un-installed and re-installed Elements, but that has made no difference.

    Hi,
Glad you have got it working.
The preferences are never touched when you uninstall elements. In the majority of cases this is an advantage in that you can reload the code without affecting your settings.
If you need to reset the preferences, there are ways to do it. Occasionally it is necessary to reset them when strange things happen.
Some people have trouble with Welcome screen and it became known as the Unwelcome screen. In that case they use shortcuts direct to the application of their choice. I tend to have a shortcut direct to the organizer because that is where I always start from.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Screen that comes up when a tcode is executed

    Dear experts,
the screen  with various fields that comes up when a Standard tcode is executed is determined by what settings? i mean are the fields standard, or customized? If customized, please how is this done?

    Bisolaaina,
At a very basic level, SAP maps the Tcode to a program.  When you enter the Tcode, SAP executes the program.
Each program can have one or more screens attached to it.  Most standard SAP screens allow some kind of customization.  Some of the screens can be altered in configuration, some can only be changed using ABAP.
It is possible to create customized Tcodes, which can execute customized screens, or can even execute customer created programs (commonly called 'Z programs' because the customer program names usually begin with a Z or a Y)
For more information about this topic, you are advised to consult with an ABAP developer.
If you really want to get into detail on your own, here is a link that gives an overview of ABAP (the programming language upon which SAP is based).  Although this doc is a bit dated, 'screens' are covered pretty well.

  • Recently when clicking on Safari, it refused to open saying there were some components damaged. It was suggested I backup, remove OSX and reinstall. Now all I get is white screen and apple logo when starting. What to do?l

I Have an iMac desktop purchased in 2010 with OS X 6.1.6 and Snow Leapard. Recently after starting up, I was not able to open Safari. I checked for updates and all was well. I tried again and got a message saying Safari could not be opened because some components were damaged. After using Disk utilities to try and repair, it was suggested I uninstall OS X and reinstall from the disk. I did not at the time because I wanted to backup some info to a USB drive. But now when I startup all I get is the white screen and Apple logo and the loading symbol. What happened and How can Imfix it? I am not very tech savvy and don't know where to turn!

    Hi nancy mfromamity harbor,
Welcome to the Support Communities! It sounds like reinstalling the Snow Leopard operating system is your next step.  This should not affect the documents and data that you currently have on your iMac. I'll include the information to show you how below.
Mac OS X 10.6: Reinstalling Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH6606
Under some circumstances, you may need to reinstall Mac OS X. You can reinstall Mac OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact.
Note:To reinstall Mac OS X from another computer on your network, see:
Using another computer’s DVD or CD drive
    To reinstall Mac OS X:
Insert the Mac OS X installation disc and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current Mac OS X disk (in most cases, it will be the only one available).
If you want to control which parts of Mac OS X are installed, click Customize, and then select the parts you want to install.
To start the installation, click Install.
If you purchased a standalone version of Mac OS X, these installation instructions are in a PDF file located on the Mac OS X installation disc.
If you need to reinstall the version of Mac OS X that was on your computer when you purchased it, or if you need to restore all the software on your computer (including Apple software, third-party applications, and other printer drivers), refer to the documentation that came with your computer.
If you need to reinstall Mac OS X and you’ve been using Time Machine to back up your applications, files, and user settings, you can easily restore this information from your Time Machine backup disk after you’ve reinstalled Mac OS X.
Nancy, here is the contact information if you need technical assistance to get your iMac up and running.

  • White Screen on Qosmio G10 when starting

I have an old Qosmio G10 which I bought from a licensed dealer in Beijing about 2 years ago.
After about a year of use at home I discovered that the screen would sometimes turn white when the screen was moved or shaking.
Some days it would work perfectly fine others it wouldnt even start up without going white.
Towards the end the screen would only show a picture when the screen was put in a certain angle.
Now, the screen just goes white the second I turn it on.
Am I looking at a hardware problem here or have there been known to be software problems with some of the similar laptops?
    Thanks,
    T

    Hi buddy,
sounds like the display cable is maybe loose. I would point on a hardware problem, but before sending your machine to an authorized service partner, go to an local computer technician and let him check the cables on the display.
If realigning of the cables does not help then your display is defective and needs to be replaced by an authorized service partner. I dont know how long your warranty is, but if you want anyways send your machine to an service partner, you should visit the following link to find the nearest one in your country:

  • Stuck on grey screen with apple logo when starting up?

    Hi,
My Macbook (2009 aluminium unibody (Leopard 10.5.8)) won't boot. When I try to start it up it gives the chime and then gets stuck at the grey screen with the Apple logo and some spinning gear below. I have tried booting with the install DVD and repairing through Disk Utility but this doesn't work. Disk Utility can see the hard drive but none of the partitions on it! This makes me think the hard drive has died.
However, I can still boot to Windows through BootCamp. From Windows 7 I can still see and access files from the Mac partition. So maybe the hard drive is ok and something else needs fixing... SATA cable???
    Other info:
The night before this happened my computer froze when trying to shut down from Windows and I had to force shut down.
The current internal hard drive is only about 4 months old (a bit short for it to be dying already - its a Western Digital 750gb 7200rpm). I replaced the old one as it had stopped working (at least i thought it was the hard drive ). The hard drive I replaced had lasted about 2 years (Seagate 500gb 7200rpm). Maybe the 7200rpm gets too hot?
Any help much appreciated as I really don't want to be reinstalling again.
    Thanks

Boot from the OS dvd and start the install process, but stop immediately after the language selection. (You are not reinstalling.) At this point you will see a Utilities menu. Open Disk Utility, select your start up disk, and click on Repair Disk. When that is done, quit DU and restart.
See if that procedure will let you boot as usual.

  • My Mac's screen is blank white when starting up...Help!

This afternoon my web browser suddenly did not response. I had to shut down the computer by holding the power button.
Then I restarted up my Mac and the screen became blank gray, and then a flashing question mark.
Did some research, found a solution and followed: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440.
I met a trouble on the fourth step: Click the First Aid tab. The "repair disk" button is unavailable. After clicking the "verify disk permissions", First Aid failed because of "no valid packages".
Then, I tried to install Mac OS X. However, no destination volume showed up in "select a destination" page.
At this time, I feel exhausted and disappointed>_<. People here are so nice, so I am looking for some advices: what is my Mac's problem? How to fix it? Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
Recently i also got this flashing question mark error. The apple told me that its an Internal HD error.
Well how common is that with the macbook ?
The apple did changed my Internal HD ( for free). New one - Hitachi. I also have backup on my External HDD where the latest backup was 2 weeks before my Intenal HD crashed.
Is it safe to do the system restore completely on my new internal HD without causing any new problems ? As i have heard that the complete system restore can give lot of trouble.
And one more question, after getting repair, am I eligible to apply for Apple Care protection Plan ?
My warranty expires on 26th January 2010.
    Thank you
    Milan

  • Display the Welcome screen when Photoshop CC starts up?

I have researched and found lots of incidences where people want to keep the Welcome screen from displaying but I am want it to display and it will not.
The checkbox under Edit>Preferences>General that says "Do Not Show Welcome Screen on Launch" is unchecked. I have tried checking that box saving, then unchecking saving again and restarting Photoshop. I have tried uninstalling Photoshop twice, once saving my preferences, the second time discarding my preferences and re-installing. Still no Welcome screen at launch. I have read that there is an option under Help>Welcome... to reopen the Welcome screen. I do not see that option and believe that is on the Mac only.
By the way the Welcome screen opens/works perfectly in Illustrator CC 2014.
I am running a Windows 7 PC with the latest version of Photoshop CC 2014.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

I believe you have an installation problem.  Others have had problems  with the Welcome Screen and I had a problem after the 15.2.2 update.  Others were not able to Play the video tutorials from the welcome window.  Photoshop seems to use CEPHtmlEngine.exe to display the Welcome screen.  The CC 2014.2.2 update installed on my machine without a problem.  CC 2014 worked and I had turned off the welcome screen.  However I did not have the new Photoshop CC 2014 preference Do not show Welcome Screen on launch and when I tried to use menu Help>Welcome I received a popup error stating Photoshop could not start the plug-in because it was not signed.  The way I was able to fix this problem was to download the direct CC 2014 installer and install CC 2014 on top of the CC 2014 currently insall.  CC 2014 installed and was installed activated and after I used menu Help>Update  to get CC 2014 up to CC 2014.2.2 all worked my Add-ons and preferences were still there.  However if I start CC 2014 and immediately try to open the Welcome screen I will get the pop-up your getting Welcome Dialog not installed. But when I click OK and try menu Help>Welcome a second time it works.  The new Preference Do not show Welcome Scree on launch is there and I can set it there or from the welcome screen option.

  • Want to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it will only start in Orgaizer, can't get to welcome screen and the .exe file that Adobe said to look for does not exist on my files

Have tried to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it continues to start in Organizer.  I do not want my pictures loaded in Organizer at all.  Saw a page on the web that said to click on an .exe editor file but that is not on my files.  Also cannot get a welcome screen to come up, only an organizer even though I checked it the first time to come up in photo editor.  I'm now having Organizer crammed down my throat.  Tried online chat but was cut off with the statement that no support is offered for v12 any longer.

    Hi,
You failed to say which operating system you are running on so I'm assuming it is Windows of some type.
You should be able to find the following files, using explorer, depending on your system.
    64bit system: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    32bit system: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Double clicking on that should start the editor - suggest to create a shortcut to it.
If you can't find one of those files, then you either installed it somewhere else or you need to re-install elements.

  • Lock up at Welcome Screen

since the other thread (How to disable the welcome screen?) has been "Answered" starting a new one:
after launching PS gets stuck at the welcome screen. i can't scroll down to tell it not to show.. BECAUSE IT's FROZEN. there's not content in it and i can't quit PS unless i go to task manager.
the only way i can get it to work is to disable network access, launch PS, close the welcome screen, and then re-enable network access.
i checked my firewall and host file, tried multiple dns servers, double checked iptables on my router, nothing works.
all other CC programs launch fine, including the welcome screens - which i was able to turn off.
the "Do Not Show..." should not be a part of the web content as, you see now, causes a problem when it won't load and no way to turn it off. at least make it an option in the prefs b/c i can hit ctrl+k before the welcome screen comes up to change some things.

In all the cases that we've seen where display of the Welcome screen truly locks up the computer, its been due to a corruption in the anti-virus software on that computer.  Modern operating systems don't allow application processes to lock up the whole system.  Its only OS level processes that can take down the whole system.  The anti-virus software hooks into the OS level to intercept network communications and thus when it has problems, it can hang the whole system.  We're not yet sure what it is about the Welcome screen that uncovers this problem.  My suggestion to you is to try uninstalling and reinstalling your anti-virus software.
There are cases that we're tracking where the Welcome screen appears mostly blank, but the system is not locked up.  In these cases, the window can be moved, the red button to close the Welcome screen works, and you can pick menu items to open a file from disk.  This is a different problem and the computer is not locked up, not even Photoshop is locked up, only the Welcome screen is.  We think we've narrowed this problem down to certain special characters in a name of a recent file that's causing the Welcome screen to fail.  If you clear your list of recent files, then the Welcome screen works as intended.  We're working on a fix for this issue right now.
    Hope this helps.

  • PSE 7 Welcome Screen startup options and turning off the advertising

The PSE 7 Welcome Screen no longer provides a start-up option for bypassing it and going directly to the Organizer or Editor. In addition, many people are annoyed by the advertising for Photoshop.com on the Welcome Screen and by the constant flashing tips in the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor.
    Here are some workarounds:
Create shortcuts directly to the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to
    > C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0
Find the file PhotoshopelementsEditor.exe, right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. You can then drag the shortcut to your desktop or the Start Menu. Alternatively, you can right click photoshopelementseditor.exe and click Pin To Start Menu, which will place a shortcut on the Windows Start menu. Do the same thing for the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe.
Turn off the advertising on the Welcome Screen. By turning off the advertising, you can still use the Welcome Screen to get to the Organizer, the Editor, Photoshop.com, and the tutorials. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Welcome Screen Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone (The path is a little different on XP.)
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)

    You said -----------
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)
I am using XP and the path to the folder is as follows:
    C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
However, I can't figure out how to "set the permissions". Is this possible in XP? Could someone please elaborate.
I am only interested in changing the tips (in the lower right corner that lead you to photoshop.com) in the Editor, since I do not use the Welcome Screen or Organizer.
    Thanks,
    Ken
