user 1015988,
Please note that the forum space for that product is an archived space.
There has been no usable activity in it since Spring 2013.
That archive status and lack of activity suggests the OTN forum site is not expecting it to be continued as a resource.
I suggest you go that link for the software product, get ALL the documentation and every software component download, then consider spending time within the various Oracle Cloud spaces of the forums.    Go read months of Cloud postings before you think about initiating your own post(s).   You may find that the Social Network product isn't what you initially guessed but is a bigger suite of applications that requires a bigger investment in time and hardware than you choose to do.

  • Integrating Oracle Social Network with ADF Application in UI

    Hello,
I'm new to ADF as well as OSN, I went through the ADF tutorial (Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF) and understood a little bit.
My requirement is to integrate the Oracle Social Network in the ADF web application UI. I found the link "Implementing Oracle Social Network Integration - 11g Release 7 (11.1.7)"
I'm finding difficulties in following the documentation, particularly the pre-requisites.
    * I use JDeveloper version 11.1.1.7.0 and I have downloaded all updates related to webcenter in my JDeveloper.
May I request you to add few more screen shots that explain where to enter the Oracle Social Network URL in JDeveloper.
Else a simple tutorial with screen shots would be a great help!
    Thank you,
    MC.

MC, the documentation you are looking at is specific to Fusion Apps developers integrating with Oracle Social Network.  If you are looking to do generic ADF development including work against OSN then this is probably not the place to start.  Are you a Fusion Apps developer, or are you an Oracle Cloud Apps customer that has an application and OSN that you are trying to extend?  If you could provide a little more context about what you are trying to achieve we will be able to advise the right route for you to take.
    Thanks,  Andy

  • My Oracle Support Community Forum

    Survey:
Is anyone participating in the new "*My Oracle Support Community*" Forums? I'm a bit confused as to the purpose of the forum since they cover virtually the same topics that are discussed here. I did do some research and found the following answers....
    * The OTN (Oracle Technology Network) forums are not being replaced by the My Oracle Support Communities.
    * Oracle Support does not participate in the OTN forums.
    * Since the OTN forums are outside of My Oracle Support and used by participants who may or may not have Oracle Support, existing knowledgebase  articles and bug records may not be leveraged to answer your inquiries.
    * The OTN forum will continue and remain open to the public.
    * Oracle built the My Oracle Support (MOS) communities to specifically help customers and partners that have support contracts*
    * OTN is not part of customer support, though some of us support engineers have voluntarily contributed to it in the past.
Personally, I see the same type of topics/questions being discussed in both forums! ?:|

I believe the difference is that the Community Forum is moderated and you need a valid CSI number to access it. Overall this forum seems more active, but it looks as though Oracle Support Engineers may be more active in the Community one.

  • Welcome to the Oracle Warehouse Builder discussion forum

    Hello!
Welcome to the Oracle Warehouse Builder discussion forum!
Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) product management and development will monitor the discussion forum on regular basis.
Please use this forum for asking product related questions, giving feedback, suggesting enhancements, reporting problems and requesting collateral.

    Bonjour "Etudiant from Tunisia",
I'm not sure what you mean with "please give me the user/password".
As far as I know there is no online OWB available where you could try out the product (if that is what you mean).
If you would like to learn more about OWB, read online documentation or for instance the link that is provided in an earlier post in this thread.
Otherwise simply install OWB and try it yourself. The Installation and Configuration Guide is clear enough even without much experience installing Oracle software, and the OWB User Guide provides some basic insight on working with OWB itself.
    Good luck, Patrick
ps If people are still expecting what Igor mentioned when he started this forum ("Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) product management and development will monitor the discussion forum on regular basis"), don't count on it; fortunately the product itself has been around long enough now, there are quite some users that can share usable insights and/or drop some useful lines on the new threads... ;-)

  • Navigation/BBM/Social network/ problem - How to contact BB ?

    Hey everyone,
I have a BB curve 3G bought in France, but unlocked by my telephone operator there.
I moved to Canada and get a internet cell phone plan (with Fido) but it seems that it doesn't work here... :-( I can call, send text message, but navigating, BBM or social networking don't work.
They told me my french phone doesn't  "take care" the Fido network...
Anyways, they asked me to contact blackberry for a reboot or something like that.
The thing is I can't find a phone number or an email adress to contact technical support !
If anyone experienced the same problem than I or knows how to contact BB, please let me know !
    Thanks for your help !

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!
Front line support for BB's is, by contract, not provided by RIM. The carriers and authorized resellers are responsible for front line formal support to end users. It is possible to bypass your carrier and seek assistance direct from RIM, but such involves fees since you are bypassing your support agreement with your carrier. The "Support and Services" tab toward the top of these forum pages provide information about that. But, if you do go through your carrier for support, they can escalate into RIM at no fee to you if they so choose to.
What you are attempting is actually a rather complicated thing. But, if you desire to ask other users for specific assistance about how to get the most use out of your BB, then this forum would indeed be the correct place for that.
    Good luck!

  • Social Networking not functional... Carrier says nothing they can do

    Carrier : Fido
    Blackberry Curve 9360
I recently changed my mississauga number to a waterloo number and immediately after, my social networking dosnt work. BBM shows the red clock and twitter says "Could not find a service book entry for IPPP". Fido has tried everything to send me some kind of prompt to accept so they can work on the device but i cannot recive it. The wifi does not work either and i cannot connect to any wifi avaliable.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you will need to continue working with Fido...they are 100% responsible for ALL of your services and ALL of your formal support...right now, they seem to be delivering neither to you. Think of it like this -- who do you PAY for your services? Fido even has the ability (indeed, responsibility!!) to escalate cases into RIM if they cannot handle it...and they've not bothered doing that for you.
Frankly, you are paying them for services, and they are claiming that they can do nothing? That's bogus...a total fob off...because there is so much more that they can do. My guess is that the agent you spoke with was (I'll be gentle) not well trained...I suggest you try again, but this time knowing how the support model is supposed to work.
    Good luck!

  • Apple's Social Network?

    Hello again,
I am looking to leave Facebook, especially since it will be owned by or already is owned by microsoft. I am interested in locating Apple's own Social Network, I am aware of our very own "Ping" for music.
Thank you again for any assistance in this area.
    Mohegan

Thank you everyone for responding. To clarify my recent comment about Microsoft taking over or possible buying out Facebook or even helping FB. I read so many articles and misspoke myself and here is one article I read about this.
    http://www.zdnet.com/search?q=facebook+being+sued+
I will clarify next time, for this is how I would like it to be, however I am still in favor of an Apple Social Network and will support any effort in this regard...

  • New Look of Oracle JDBC & UCP Forum

    Hi All,
We have enhanced existing Oracle JDBC & UCP forum with a new look.
You will now find all Oracle JDBC resources such as latest white papers, FAQ, Blogs, Tweets etc., in this forum.
Please post your JDBC & UCP questions specific to Oracle Database here at Oracle JDBC & UCP.
Note that this forum is only for Java related JDBC questions.
    Thanks,
    Nirmala

    Kmensah-Oracle wrote:
The generic Java Connectivity is inherited from SUN and destined for questions related to JDBC spec and every vendor while the Oracle JDBC forum is dedicated to our drivers. These two were joined for a moment, by mistake.
However, if the community strongly feels we should re-join, we can look into that.
    Kuassi @kmensah)
Re-joining would be MY preference. I first posted a 'why two forum' question in the community feedback forum last year when I first discovered that 'other' forum:
Why are there two DIFFERENT JDBC forums?
That second forum only has three recent threads and, so far as I know, just became visible when some recent changes were made to the Jive software.
    It is located at
All Places > Database > Database Developer Tools > JDBC
Can someone research and determine if that second forum should just be consolidated with the main JDBC forum? I contribute ALL of the time to the other forum as does one of the JDBC developers. I never knew this other one existed so I doubt if people will get much help there.
If you read the thread you will see that I never got a reply from anyone.
But the comments above that I made then still apply. Joe Weinstein (one of Oracle's JDBC experts) and I have been the top contributors on this current forum for some time. I don't believe either of us posted in that 'other' forum and I didn't even know it existed. The link in my thread above to the original 'other' forum still works but gives an 'unauthorized' message so I assume it is now an internal Oracle site.
My opinion is that people with a JDBC question and just going to post in the first one they find which is usually this forum I am in now. I don't think the general public will understand the 'fine' distinction you provided above for Oracle related versus non-Oracle related JDBC questions.
So the main issue for me is that there is no good way to respond to someone that posts their question in the WRONG jdbc forum. For other forums we just do NOT reply to the question but ask them to post in the correct forum and provide a link to it: I run across this most frequently in the Sql Developer forum and usually respond with:
    Wrong forum!
This forum is ONLY for Sql Developer quesstions and your question is NOT related to Sql Developer. Please mark this thread ANSWERED and repost it in the Sql Developer forum
    SQL Developer
The result is that by providing the link to the correct forum the Jive software creates a SECOND thread in that other forum.
The bulk of the JDBC questions posted in this current forum are, in fact, for the Oracle database. The few that aren't are easily answered by providing what help we can, suggesting additional info that needs to be provided and then suggesting that they post in an IBM, Sql Server or other vendor forum for the JDBC product for their database.
Havng just ONE forum for JDBC would make it easier to provide a higher level of support to users in my opinion.

  • No tnsnames.ora in C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin in client

I have a observation that there is no tnsnames.ora file in path C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin when we select client install of oracle in windows server. But, when we install oracle server version on windows, the file tnsnames.ora file is found in the path C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin. Also, to note is that the tnsnames.ora file is found in path like C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\sample.
So, does it mean in client install, we need to copy tnsnames.ora file from C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\sample and put it in C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin.
I hope, my question is clear.
Please help in solving the doubt.
    regards

Yes copy both tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from the sample directory.
I believe your observation is correct. When we have installed the client in the past it does not put the tnsnames.ora or sqlnet.ora for us...we copy our own copy into the directory to allow users to connect to our various databases.
As far as the the full server installation, the only thing I can think of is maybe you told the full server install to create a starter database? If so then towards the end of the install it may try to create a listener.ora, tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora (I can't remember at the moment as it has been a while).

  • Social network algorithms in java

    hi all,
can anybody help me, i want to develop an application like that of a myspace wherein it shows your friends and friends of your friends, in short social networking. I don't know how to implement this one. Or can somebody give me a simple example for this?!
thanks in advance. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I just don't have any idea on how to start this.

    Sure
    package com.james_newbie.myspace.ripoff;
    public class MySpaceRipoff {
// rest of code goes here
}Do you seriously expect someone to post anything
    close to a complete social-networking website?Have
you any idea how large a project that is? There's
nothing that could be posted here that would be of
    any worth at all
"I'm thinking of porting XFree86 to Java, could
anyone give me an example of how to do this?".Argh,
when will the outrageously-scoped demands for code
end??thanks!!! you are of great help. all im asking is a
little idea from you guysI am of great help. I'm helping you understand the futility of your question. There is no "little idea" to be had here, the project is too large in scope for us to give you anything of worth. You've not even bothered to come up with any requirements, all you've done is said "I want to rip off myspace. How do I do it?". How are we expected to answer that? Think about it, what is it you're actually asking? If you're just asking for "a little idea" that really means you don't know what you want to do, and need someone else to tell you exactly how to build a fairly large, complex website from scratch. Is that really something that can be answered in a forum?
Don't fall into the typical newbie trap here, and get into a flame war because I didnt' fall over and give you exactly what you expected to hear. We see this happen every single day now, and it always ends the same way - you get no help, and ensure you probably never will because you were rude. Distinguish yourself from those other losers and realise you've asked a duff question
