Welcome vid?

Hi all;
Just began using my new MBP (upgrade from elderly TiBook; totally wonderful) and have a profoundly non-essential question. The first few times I started up the new Book it offered me the standard "welcome to your new Mac" video tour thing. I was too busy at that time getting up and running and back to work to actually watch it; but now I would like to take a look at it. Also, I have a friend who's considering switching from a PC to a Mac, and she wanted to see it as well. However, it no longer auto-starts anymore when I start up, and I have no idea where it is/how to access it. Gone forever?

System/Library/CoreServices/SetupAssistant.app(control click and click "show package contents")/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle (show package contents again)/Contents/Resources.
In there you'll find the video file, "intro.mov" and audio, "intro-sound.mp3". They are sepetate and you would need to mix them.

1. Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant.app/ as the folder's location. When this folder has appeared, reopen the Go to Folder window and enter Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle/Contents/Resources/ If the folder doesn't appear, rerun the first command with everything after CoreServices removed, control-click the Setup Assistant, choose Show Package Contents, and continue from there. The file you want is named intro.mov.

Yes, you're dead on...my point was to create interest and awareness of this method as an option and maybe spark us into using it creatively and productively. Might not work for everyone but it's food for thought.
I agree on the MIDI Pipe option, on top of what you said, I found it kinda confusing but maybe that's just me
On your item 1) about not being in control, you're right and I totally understand...I use an external controller to stop/start the sequence wherever I want. I think it depends on the implementation as well...I have multiple songs spread over different tracks and just arrange a group of tracks by song and then mute/position what I want or don't want. The other way is to spread them out horizontally and run your sequence by position. Or have separate Logic files, there are lot's of ways to do it. The interesting thing is that if you mute let's say a PC track(s) Logic just doesn't send out the MIDI data...kinda handy. Might be a bit on the manual side, but at least I have an option available to me that I never had before
On 2) I'm running 4GB (nothing crazy) on my 2.16Ghz Core 2 duo iMac...works just fine.
On 3) On the how...yeah, you're exactly right, I haven't done the "how to" video yet - will try to do over the next day or so and post. But the short answer is just create a track for an external instrument, click the Library tab in the media browser and the IAC Bus created through Audio/MIDI setup will be listed there, choose that. Then just add in the MIDI events via the Event browser/editor.

HELP! laptop wont load past Welcome and warranty out

I have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 Home OS. I have no repair disc/install disk as I bought it brand new with the OS already installed and ready to use. I bought it in Fall 2011, so my warranty is out and I can't get help from Tech because they want to charge me just to talk to me over the phone without a warranty.
My laptop will load until the Welcome screen, and I have seen many posts already about this issue, however they are all able to load in Safe Mode and/or still have their warranty. I cannot load in Safe Mode. System Tune-up will not complete, stops halfway through as Failed, Startup and Run-in tests also fail. I already had problems back in March this year and had to restore to factory settings.
What boggles me most, is it was working fine until 2 a.m. this morning, when i stopped playing Fallout NV - was offline, have not connected it to internet for some months now. However, after the game I unplugged my laptop and took it upstairs and plugged it in in my room, and since then it hasn't worked. I can get to the boot options (Esc, F2, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12), but unable to do system repair due to no disc, and even though when I restored it to factory settings in March and made sure to do a Restore point at that time, the OS is not finding that restore point at all. It is not acknowledging any external hard drives I attach so I can do a new restore point. I don't want to just lose my photos - they are the only photos I have of my children (i think this is why most of us don't want to just restore to factory settings all over again).
Is there any way to do get it up and running again without losing literally EVERYTHING? I don't give a crap about the games or apps, those can all be installed from Steam later on again. But i don't want to lose my photos and baby vids and documents.

Here are a couple of methods you could try to back-up your existing data.
1. One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the process detailed in the link below. The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ) and I've often found it to be successful in retrieving data even from a failing Hard Drive. When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.

2. Another option would be to remove the HDD, place it in an external caddy - an example is on the link below - connect this to another PC and see if you can access your files.

Pentax Optio S5N - does not play vid clips on OS 10.4.8. How do I fix?

I have a Pentax Optio S%N and when I download my pics and video clips the pics transfer but the video clips only play sound with no video. I installed Div X player but this did not help.
Any suggestions? This vid clips play on my PC.

There are so many different codecs for video that you've landed on one that doesn't have a mac version installed.
First port of call, the Pentax site and see if they have an updated version for Mac.
Second, try install Perian: http://perian.org/ It's a collection of Codecs for QT that might help.

Vid 0166 problem

Using DW CS3 in Windows Vista Ultimate,
First I viewed the video tutorial which worked fine.
I downloaded the files for Vid 0166; Spry Framework for
Ajax., printed the tutorial pages, unzipped the files, set-up a
site with the unzipped files, and followed the instructions.
The first instruction is to view the file events\index.html
and test the Spry function is working.
A dialog box opens with the message: "Exception caught while
loading events.xml: [object Error]"
The tutorial indicates the browser may be responsible by
restricting Active X contenet. I veriried this is no the problem.
I completed the tutorial based on 05_ajax_spry,html and all
steps were completed without problems.
When the site was tested using IE 7, the same error message
appeared.
Finally I built a separate XML file and rebuit the
application again with the same result.
Any advice would be welcome.

Sorry to tell you that the free solution you seek does not exist. To the best of my knowledge, the only Palm OS applications which could play Youtube videos were Kinoma 4 EX and CorePlayer Mobile for Palm. Unfortunately, Kinoma ceased sales of its Palm OS application earlier this year. CorePlayer is $30.
The TX was released in 2005, so while that wasn't quite 8 years ago, it had a very good run.

My music vids are loading on my ipod as movies , so everytime a song is done i have to select the next manually , is there a way i can set these up as music videos in Itunes , or have a flow setting on my ipod ?

Is there *Media Type* set to *Music Video* in iTunes? You can check by right->clicking on a music video and choosing "Get Info". Then under the Options tab, there is a section with a drop down list to change the tracks *Media Type*.

BUT now I'm face with following setup for Export:
HP- IA64 BL870c, 4 CPUu2019s Dual-Core + Hyperthreading activ (mean's 16 "CPU'S" shown via top or glance)
64 GB RAM, HPUX V11.31;
MAXDB 7.7.07
ECC 5.0; Basis/Aba 640.22
SAP-Kernel 640-Unicode Patch 381
8 sapdatas are configured on unique 200GB LUN's and VG's in HP-UX; on storage-side the 8 220GB LUN's are located on (only) 9 300GB-Disks with Raid-5 Level and within HP-UX each VG/LVOL is mirrored via LVM to a second desasterdatacenter (200m distance)
LOGFILES:
2 x 4 GB LUN Raid-1 on Storage and via LVM also mirrored to failover-center

My major problem is the export-runtime with over 4 days on the first dry-run (6 R3load's running on Linux-APPL-Server), and 46h on second runtime, 6 R3loads running on DB-Server IA64)
the third trail-run was aborted by me after 48hours and 50% export-dump-space was written. In all 3 dry-runs, no more than approx 3.5GB DUMP-Space were written per hour!
My first question to all MAXDB-Guru'S: How can I influence/optimize the TEMP - Area in MAXDB?? I didn't find any hint's in SDN or SAPNOTES or MaxDB Wiki or google....As fare as I know, this TEMP area "resides" within MAXDB-datafiles, thus it's seperated on my 48 datafiles, spreaded over 8 LUN/VG/disks. But I see LESS throughput on disk's and MAXDB-Kernel uses only ONE of ten's cpu-cores (approx 80% - 120% of 1000%).
The throughput or cpu-usage doesn't change when I use 2 or 4 or 10 or 16 R3load' processes in parallel. The "result" is always the same: approx. 3,5 GB Export-Dump and 1 CPU MAX-DB Kernelprocess is used !
so the BIG Question for me: WHERE is the bottleneck ?? (RAID-5 Disk-LUNS mirrored with LVM ???)
on HP-UX scsi_queue_depth_length I'v increased default value from 8 to 32 to 64 to 128 --> no impact
2nd question:
I'v read OS-Note 1327874 - FAQ: SAP MaxDB Read Ahead/Prefetch, and we are running MAXDB 7.7.07.19! (MaxDB 7.8 is not suppored via PAM for IA64 640-UC-Kernel) and as far as I understood, this parameter will no HELP me on EXPORT with primary-key-sequence ! is this correct? THUS: which parameter HELPS for speeding up Export-Runtime?
MAXCPU is set to 10, but ONLY 1 of them is used??
so this post is for ALL MAXDB GURU'S!
who will be intrested to contriubte on this "high-sophisticated" migration-project with 1.5TB MAXDB-Database-size and ONLY 24h Downtime !!
all tips and hints are welcome and I will give us coninued updates to this running project until WE did a successfull migration job.
PS: Import is not yet started, but should be done within vSphere 5 and SLES 11 SP1 on MAXDB 7.8 ....and of yours in parallel to export with migration monitor, BUT again a challenge: 200km distance from source to traget system !!!

nice project ... just some simple questions:
Did you open a message at SAP? Maybe you could buy some upgrade support, this could be usefull to get direct access to the SAP support...
Which byte order do you use? I know Itanium could use both. But it should be different, otherwise you would use a backup for the migration.
And the worst question, I do not even want to ask: What about your MAXCPUS parameter? Is it set to more than 1? This could be the problem why only one CPU is used.

Header and Welcome disappearing in PDF Portfolio

Good day,
The Header and Welcome pages disappear in my PDF Portfolio after saving and closing. It appears to be related to the most recent update, as I don't remember having this issue before. If I create the document from scratch and save, it appears on the first open; however, if I edit that document the problem repeats itself. These Portfolios will need to be updated on a fairly regular basis, and I would prefer not to have to constantly re-create them if possible.
I tried the trial of X (had heard bad things), but it doesn't have the same choices for layout styles and the file size has increased dramatically from 9 to X, likely related to upgraded look and feel (which feels cartoonish to me).
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
Version 9.4.3 or X, if you can provide a source for layouts that allows a file preview.

This may be a known bug. See thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/3491158#3491158 , specifically the scenario/workaround Josh_Corey posted on March 7th at 6pm.

Photoshop/Premiere Elements 10 installed but won't run past Welcome screen

I bought and downloaded Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 for Windows 7 - 64 bit on Dec.31/11. There were no error messages in the download, although the Akamai downloader screen didn't seem to show 100% before proceeding to the next step. Everything appeared to install correctly (it's a long process!).
At first, clicking on the desktop icons or the Start Menu list would bring up the Welcome splash screen, where the broad options (Organize, Edit, New Project) were shown. However, clicking on these options had no effect at all. Eventually even the Welcome screen wouldn't appear. I checked the Windows task manager and no applications were running.
I checked the shortcut properties and noticed that there was a separate executable in the target directory (eg. existing link was to "Adobe Premiere Elements 10.exe", but there was also a file called "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe"), which did run...however, I couldn't launch the Organizer from that program, and the "Home" link to the Welcome screen didn't function either.
With thousands of these programs being downloaded, I'm surprised that this serious glitch hasn't surfaced before. Any ideas?

There are three different programs -- Photoshop Elements (PSE) which is for editing bitmaps, Premiere Elements which is for video editing, and the PSE Organizer which is for cataloging your media.
I don't like the sound of that Akamai downloader not registering 100%.
Uninstall all the Adobe products, reboot, and download the installation package again. Check the Properties on that downloaded file and "Unblock" it if Windows has flagged it as "possibley harmful and coming from another computer" before starting the installation.

Dúvida no fluxo do processo de rejeição/recusa

Embora tenha participado de alguns projetos de nota fiscal eletrônica, uma coisa nunca ficou muito clara para mim. Estou em um novo projeto agora e eu queria fazer da melhor forma possível.
A primeira dúvida é sobre Recusa/Rejeição. Basicamente qual a diferença entre os dois? Eu sempre entendi que uma nota é rejeitada pela SEFAZ, e recusada pela validação do GRC ou do outro sistema de mensageria. Essa abordagem está correta?
A segunda dúvida é sobre essa mesma validação. Quando o GRC, ou outro sistema encontra erros de sintaxe do arquivo, ou de qualquer informação, qual deve ser o status dessa nota? Ela deve ficar como recusada? E o status de comunicação do sistema?
Quando uma nota fiscal está recusada, qual o melhor fluxo? Considerando que o erro foi apontado pelo sistema de mensageria e não pela SEFAZ, a nota fiscal não pode ser cancelada. O sistema também não permite o estorno da nota, nem mesmo depois de resetar seu status . Uma vez eu debuguei e vi que é porque ela está numerada.
Meu último problema é sobre inutilização. Alem do report, existe alguma outra forma de fazer a inutilização, direto pelo monitor? Penso em fazer isso justamente quando uma nota está recusada/rejeitada sem ter ido para o SEFAZ. Daí usaríamos a própria entrada dela, no monitor, para solicitar a inutilização da numeração.

Esta dúvida é comum principalmente que boa parte dos projetos (no início) não fez a implementação de NF-e por Support Package mas por aplicação de notas, então os termos originais Rejected and Denied foram traduzidos de forma diferente em cada projeto (a SAP só entrega traduções por SP), isso deu margem a boa confusão no tema.
A primeira dúvida é sobre Recusa/Rejeição. Basicamente qual a diferença entre os dois?
Existe rejeição (2xx, 4xx,999) e denegação (301 / 302)
- Na rejeição a Sefaz rejeita por algum dado incorreto e não deixa salvo no banco de dados dela, você deve tentar corrigir e enviar quantas vezes necessário
- Na denegação é uma situação específica que o emissor ou o destinatário estão com irregularidade fiscal junto à Receita, neste caso a NF-e é armazenada na base da Sefaz e não deve ser novamente enviada (o ERP ao receber a denegação dispara o cancelamento automaticamente)

- Sim, a rejeição da validação é devido a algo que provocaria uma rejeição da Sefaz se enviado você também pode tentar acertar até passar pelo validador/Sefaz

Quando uma nota fiscal está recusada, qual o melhor fluxo? Considerando que o erro foi apontado pelo sistema de mensageria e não pela SEFAZ
- Em linhas gerais o fluxo básico seria RESET + tentar corrigir o que o GRC ou a Sefaz informaram + NF-e -> Send
, a nota fiscal não pode ser cancelada. O sistema também não permite o estorno da nota, nem mesmo depois de resetar seu status . Uma vez eu debuguei e vi que é porque ela está numerada.
- Em um ERP e GRC corretamente atualizado com os SP's e notas isso não é normal em cada caso a causa raiz deve ser encontrada e sanada com notas ou chamado à SAP
Meu último problema é sobre inutilização. Alem do report, existe alguma outra forma de fazer a inutilização, direto pelo monitor?
- Que report? O de encontrar gaps? Este report é para sanar um side effect quando os clientes não implementaram ainda o decouple. Hoje em dia todos os clientes devem implementar o decouple job para evitar vários transtornos como (gaps (já não dá mais medo), NF-e autorizada no GRC/Sefaz e não existe no ERP (isso é terrível), inconsistência de transmissão (dados obtidos em memória X dados obtidos do banco)....
- Inutilização é direto no monitor, que situação está descrevendo?
Penso em fazer isso justamente quando uma nota está recusada/rejeitada sem ter ido para o SEFAZ. Daí usaríamos a própria entrada dela, no monitor, para solicitar a inutilização da numeração.
- não entendi. Hoje uma nota Rejected seja pela Sefaz ou pelo validador deve ser cancelada pelo monitor J1BNFE. Entendi errado sua pergunta?
- Existe também uma nova funcionalidade "Cancel Prior Authorization" que permite o cancelamento de uma NF-e antes mesmo dela ter sido numerada
