Well Done, Apple! iTunes 11 is Gorgeous!!

iTunes 11 is one of the most beautiful pieces of software that Apple has ever released!
I also find it to be incredibly functional!
Beauty and function is a hard combo to get right sometimes!! So grateful!!!

  • Well done, Apple! Spotlight is flying after 10.4.6!

Since 10.4.5, Spotlight was considerably slow to start searching things.
After this morning update, Spotlight took off and is flying really fast.
    Well done, Apple!

Please re-Update using the downloaded Combination updater. (Apple downloads)
If that doesn't help, the only other thing I can recommend is to resinstall OS X using the archive & install option in the installer.

  • Custom MBP Delivery ... Well done Apple!!

It's nice to be able to thank a manufacturer-supplier nowadays.
I ordered my custom anti-glare 17inch MBP last Monday 17th ... I got the usual 1-3 day shipping notice, so I opted for free shipping with outside estimate on the 25th. However the MBP did not ship until the 21st from Shanghai - with a delivery of the 27th - the date I am leaving on a film shoot and needed the MBP.
So I called Apple on Friday with my problem to see if they can move it along? My MBP is on the delivery truck in my hometown as I write this - will be here any moment.
    Well done Apple!

    Hi,
    Have your email.
I played the sound in Mail and it used Quicktime to do so and I do not think the sound was particularly loud. Obviously Play back was at Output Volume that I had set.
I then put it in my Home folder/Library/Sounds and selected it in iChat.
It did seem to be louder or at least more piercing than my Regular one for Video Invites when used as a Test sound in iChat itself (As you Describe)
Now something very strange then happens - when I invited my self to an Audio Chat (I set it as the Audio Invite Alert).
It does not play. My computer gives me it's standard "bonk" noise that I have set as the entry Error sound.
I have Quicktime Pro and have tried Exporting it and Extracting it as well as changing the settings to 8 bit rather than 16 bit and to Mono rather than Stereo but I still can not get it to play in iChat when it is supposed to be the Alert (Again just as you describe)
I have even tried though iMovie HD
At this stage I am at a loss as to why your sound file is behaving differently to all the rest of mine.
I will send you one of mine and see if you can find the difference.
It is not .aiff but I have others that are.
The only thing I can spot is the sample 16 bit integer versus 8 bit integer

  • Well done Apple...

Ok, have to admit I was sceptical that Apple would deliver rentals to the UK this side of Christmas, but things are looking up.
Missed the 'news' earlier today having been at the local hi-fi shop to see some new high-end equipment demoed - I took my AppleTV with me on the off-chance I might be able to compare it with the new £4,000 hard drive based music/CD player but decided it wouldn't have been received well had I suggested an a) vs b) comparison!
Suspect Winston and Chenks are downloading movies - AppleTV (with 2.02) is in the car boot - don't think I can be bothered to try the rentals at this hour.
Of course, all we need now is to see a price drop to about £130 in line with what happened in the US when rentals were announced.
I'm quite excited by this - the future really is in on demand viewing not archaic physical media like BluRay.

I think they did a good job too. I'm happy that:
iTunes Playlist Folders now show up on the Apple TV. Before, they were just all combined into one massive list.
iPhoto '08 Events now work with the Apple TV. Before, it would only show iPhoto Albums and Smart Albums.
YouTube Subscriptions show up on the Apple TV. This is really useful as it enables you to navigate all the video content of one user very easily.

  • Good work on the iPhone - job well done Apple.

For a first run G1 do it all Phone/computer -- you have really built an amazingly good interface that just works and works well.
I don't know who runs your human interface group, but I for one would like to meet the person/group and just thank them. I've never worked on a interface that just flows so well -- and the zoom in/out control and positioning is flawless!
    Bravo! Take a bow.
    Rob.

As my preacher is oft to say: Now is good time to say, AMEN!
    Bravo Indeed!
A hearty and heartfelt thank you to all at Apple for this wonderful piece of technology!

    from Byron.

You can indeed burn moves and shows from the iTunes Store to a data DVD (via Finder or other software) for backup purposes, which is I believe what Byron is asking about (though I can't be sure). You just can't burn them to a video DVD to be played in a standard DVD player.
Well, I'm not sure about that. Having just re-read the terms, it appears that you may re-download content, and that you can burn songs, but this appears to not include videos (unless it is iTunes Plus content):
(iv) You shall be authorized to burn an audio playlist up to seven times.
    (v) You shall not be entitled to burn video iTunes Products or ringtone iTunes Products.
(vi) iTunes Plus Products do not contain security technology that limits your usage of such products, and Usage Rules (ii) – (v) do not apply to iTunes Plus Products. You may copy, store, and burn iTunes Plus Products as reasonably necessary for personal, noncommercial use.
Reading further, then there is this:
    (ix) Content Rentals
    (a) Content rentals are viewable on only one device at a time. You must be connected to the iTunes Service when moving rentals, and you may do so only between your computer and other compatible devices. Content rented using your Apple TV, iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation) may not be moved. If you move a rental to a compatible device and then use the iTunes Service to restore that device, or choose Settings > Reset > Erase all content and settings on that device, the rental will be permanently deleted.
    (b) You have thirty (30) days after downloading a rental to begin viewing. Once you begin viewing, you have twenty-four (24) hours to finish viewing a movie, and forty-eight (48) hours to finish viewing a TV show. Stopping, pausing, or restarting a rental does not extend the available time for viewing.
Some iTunes Products, including but not limited to Content rentals, may be downloaded only once and cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. It is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage iTunes Products once downloaded, and you may wish to back them up.
Even after years of deciphering contracts and the sometimes rather complex content, I find this a bit confusing and I'd be checking with Apple to make sure I'm not doing anything I shouldn't be.

  • Unfair apple itunes policy!

I felt the need to vent about this - i hope apple does not delete this message.
First, let me say I'm a big fan of itunes. I use it now for ALL my music purchases. I have an ipod and a shuffle. BUT... I was alerted to this new policy that is very disturbing to me, and I can not fathom how or why apple is doing this. They are now picking certain songs, and making it impossible for you to purchase that one particular song without purchasing the ENTIRE album! This stinks of corporate greed - which surprises me coming from Apple. For example, a popular classic song called "American Pie" by Don McClean. You can not purchase this song anymore for 99 cents, but now must purchase the entire album for $10!!! What is even more underhanded is that if you go to a movie soundtrack to purchase a song... you can not. You must purchase the entire soundtrack... BUT if you do a search for that particular song, and can find it on a different album (in some cases) you CAN still purchase it for 99 cents. So if you are not well versed in itunes, and not familiar with how to search for a song, then you are "tricked" into buying the entire album due to lack of knowledge. This just plain stinks. Apple, if you are listening. PLEASE stop this new practice. You will alienate fans (old and new) and force them to look elsewhere for individual songs! I for one will not purchase 10-14 other songs just to hear the one song i do wish to purchase.
    I'm very dissapointed.
    Cyen

    Cyen:
This is far from a new policy - certain tracks have been "album only" since the store first opened.
As the earlier responder noted - this isn't a policy set by Apple, but by the record lables who contract with Apple.
    As for your statement
What is even more underhanded is that if you go to a movie soundtrack to purchase a song... you can not. You must purchase the entire soundtrack..
That is completely untrue - I just check about a dozen different soundtracks, most of which were on the "Hot Soundtracks" bar, and all of them were enabled for individual track purchase.
As for being tricked into purchasing an entire album - frankly, that is complete bunk. You have to press the Purchase Album button - which is separate from the Purchase Song buttons. Maybe you can't read or are dyslexic, but anyone else with even basic intelligence can tell the difference between the word "album" and the word "song."
You really need to calm down - a little less coffee, maybe?

  • We could not complete your Apple iTunes Store request. Unknown error 5002.

I upgraded to iTunes 7.7.0.43 and am no longer able to connect to the iTunes Store with my AppleID. Here is the exact message I receive:
+"*We could not complete your Apple iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002).*+
+There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."+
Well...I've tried for two+ days now. I've been through all of the help/debugging suggestions (e.g., flushed dns, checked firewall, etc.) but still no luck. Please note that I AM able to connect to the iTunes Store using an older AppleID, but it's not the one that has an account balance.
    Please help!!

FYI - I don't think this is a PC configuration/firewall issue. I went to the local Apple store last night and asked them if I could try connecting to the iTunes Store using my AppleID from one of their systems. I still received the same error:
+"*We could not complete your Apple iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002).+*
+There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."+
Since I can connect to the iTunes Store from my PC using other AppleID's, it stands to reason that this particular problem is with the iTunes Store servers and not with the PC configuration.
APPLE TECHS: Any updates/suggestions you might have would sure be helpful.

  • APL*APPLE  ITUNES STORE charged my bank

total 60.92 how can i get refund back! it supposed charge 0.99 cent each a games how come that charge too much!

Charges From APL*APPLE ITUNES STORE with Phone number 1-866-712-7753
I noted charges on my credit card from APL*APPLE ITUNES STORE. I contacted my bank and then this morning contacted ITunes at 1-800-676-2775 regarding these charges.
ITunes informed me that my card has been used to setup another account (not set up by myself) and then used to buy gift certificates. ITunes stated that they could not refund the charges but are going to cancel the gift certificates. They, informed me that I am going to have to go through my bank and file a dispute to get the charges reversed.
So, Your Telling me they used your company (ITunes) to rip someone off and then your going to save your own butt and cancel the gift certificates that the perp bought with a stolen card. But, force me to go through a mess to get my money back instead of reversing the charges.
That makes (ITunes) a thief as well. I don't do business with thiefs.

  • Selective blocking of Apple/iTunes traffic.

With the move for iOS devices to now use iCloud services we are seeing a tremendous spike in traffic being classified on our BlueCoat as Apple/iTunes - so much so that it's comprising close to 50% of traffic on our public wireless network at times.
We don't have shaping abilities on the BlueCoat device but we are running all Cisco switching/routers and using a 5520 ASA as our primary firewall.  All of our wireless gear is Cisco as well.
What would be the best way to go about blocking iTunes/iCloud from our public wifi?  It's on a separate network from our production traffic which is necessary as we have iPad assets that do need to access these services.  We just want to block the personal devices.
    Thanks in advance.

  • So, I have created my home sharing from my base computer to my laptop. On my lap top I see the tab for home sharing but it will not let me connect to my computer to share my music over. I have done everything iTunes has told me to but it still won't work.

So, I have created my home sharing from my base computer to my laptop. On my lap top I see the tab for home sharing but it will not let me connect to my computer to share my music over. I have done everything iTunes has told me to but it still won't work. Any help would make my day...

I got some more info that may help.
I put a cd on my laptop, and was able to share it to my computer... So the problem is only from my computer to my laptop. I tried the firewall thing and it did not help. I read the rest of the trouble shooting page, and nothing else applies. iTunes is an execption and already was. I can not think of anything else being my problem. Do you think I should re-install iTunes or would that be a waste of time? At this point I am about to just call Apple for some help because I am getting to stressed over this.
    Thanks

  • How do I find out what purchases were made on a particular day/time?  My credit card has a charge and I didn't purchase anything from APL*APPLE ITUNES?

My credit card has a charge on it for a particular day/time from APL *APPLE ITUNES.  The charged amount and date/time of the charge do not ring any bells with me and I don't have kiddos that would be charging downloads or whatever.  How do I find out what the charges were actually for?  I've tried to figure it out in the iTunes store, but not having much luck.  I'm new to this iPhone 'thing".  Please help.
