Went to bed fine, woke up crashing

I went to bed last night with my iphone working just fine, however, when I woke up this morning nothing will work. I've rebooted it 3 times and reset it once. The problem is that if I try to run any application other than phone, the system starts to load the application then just exits it placing me back on the desktop.
I've got purchased programs on the phone too and not sure what to do. If I do a full system reset will I loose my purchases? Will I loose my notes that I've created on the iPhone since they don't sync with my computer?
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might have started happening?
Thanks,
glenn

sounds like you may have entered the same issues some others of us are having. you can check this here:

as far as a fix... i haven't gotten anything good from apple support. and you can tell from the threads above that we're really trying to make our phones work again.
i'm going to try a few things today and see what i can come up with.
regarding your questions
1) itunes keeps your apps, and the itunes store keeps record of your apps so you can re-download at any time. if only they were so helpful when people lose music
2) you may well likely lose your notes. better get those copied soon.
3) it started happening because of demons plotting with gremlins who hate us.

I got a brand new Iphone 4s, fully charged as I went to bed. Woke up to see the time and I was expecting a call. The screen was blank, I can not turn it on. Nothing is happening. I 'm in freeze mode. How can I turn it on?

First be sure it's charged.  If you're not sure, plug your charger into a wall outlet for at least 15 minutes.  If it's still unresponsive, try to reset it: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release.

  • I have a new Apple TV, I plugged it in yesterday and it worked fine. I then did the update and went to bed. Today I can't get the Apple TV to turn on again! HELP

I have a new Apple TV, I plugged it in last night and it worked fine, I then, I was mirroring with my iPad and everything. It then prompted me to to the update so I hit update and went to bed. Today I can't turn the Apple TV on!
It just says no signal on my tv.
I've tried pressing menu and down arrow for 6 seconds, an apple appears on my tv screen but then it goes back to saying no signal!
    Is it broken?

    Check these troubleshooting steps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1551?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Specifically I wonder if the AppleTV may be trying to connect with an unsupported resolution giving a black screen.  Try cycling display resolutions using these remote commands in step 6:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Select button will immediately cycle to the next resolution.
If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
If HDMI isn't working on an Apple TV (1st generation), try component cables instead (and disconnect the HDMI cable temporarily). Read more about HDMI vs component video.

Download the yahoo email app, if you already deleted and reinstalled the email account and still have issue.
This is a known issue with Yahoo email account.

  • HT1766 I started a iCloud backup of my iPhone last night before I went to bed and when I woke up it said 15 hours remaining and stayed that way for over an hour and has not changed

I started a icloud backup of my iphone last night before I went to bed as I was told at the apple store yesterday that it could take up to 3 hours to backup.  When I woke up this morning it was still going and said 15 hours remaining.  After an additional hour or so the screen still read 15 hours remaining.  I need to understand how I am suppose to backup the device to icloud without having to take this long as I cannot be without my phone for an entire day or longer due to work requirements.

If you're in recovery mode, all data is ALREADY lost.  You've no choice but to restore.

sounds like a hardware issue with the battery
    1. you can try different chargers if you have any
    2. while plugged in, Hold the Home+Power at the same time for about 20 secs, if the apple comes up then release both buttons
3.if that doesn't work you may have to go into Apple store

Actually don't hold down the Power button, but instead hold down the Home button until you see a graphic on the iPhone screen telling you to connect to iTunes.  This is putting your iPhone into a Forced Recovery Mode.

  • I locked my ipod before i went to bed the other night and i tried to turn it on the next morning and the screen stayed black and now i was wondering what i could do to try and fix it.(besides plugging it into itunes)

i locked my ipod before i went to bed a few nights ago and in the morning when i woke up i tried to turn it on but the screen stayed black so i put it on the charger to see if it was dead or not but it wasnt. i left it on the charger for an hour or two thinking it will turn on but nothing happened and i just tired to connect to itunes and nothing happened.

    Hi,
Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • Battery was working fine but after crash...

My iphone had been working perfectly. I got it on launch day and have really put it through it's paces. I experienced no charging problems and only a few situations where Safari would shut down and only once where I had to hold the sleep button to power down.
    but...
2 days ago it froze hard in Safari on the Apple web site. It was on and would not shut off - no response - so after 5 minutes I did the reset where you hold both buttons. It worked perfectly and came back up.
I was at 80% so I pugged it into the computer that night and when I got up in the morning it still was not fully charged. I had the lightning bolt. I used it down to about 10% and then charged and it worked perfectly with the timings we expect. About 2.5 hours for 80% and another 2 hours or so to get full charge with battery.
So I used it again until about maybe 30% and plugged it in again yesterday afternoon. I noticed that after about 6 hours of charging it was just slightly over half. I was having a party so didn't pay attention to it but got up this morning and there it is. Charging for about 18 hours and I still have the lighting bolt.
I have read of the many battery problems and people returning them but my batter was fine unti the crash. This makes me think it is something more software than hardware related.
    Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone went to Apple tech support with this?
Has tech support told anyone to do a system restore to fix this?
Has anyone done the system restore thing in iTunes to try and fix this problem?
    TIA
    Havrek

I always charge via USB. However my frist charge aftre the iPhone crashed and I had to hard reset was via A/C because I was at work. This never went from lightning bolt to plug.
My next charge was via USB over night, like usual, and it went it worked and my usage stuff got updated.
This last charge again was from USB, like usual, and will not go from lightning bolt to plug so my usage stats won't reset because it thinks there has not been a full recharge.
My statistics now say over 23 hours of usage and 2.5 days of standby. I wished the batter lasted that long.
But for now I just wish the battery would go back to normal.
I have done a shutdown and restart but no luck. I'm going to drain the battery for a while and then try again. I was getting ready to restore just to see if it would go back to normal but I saw posts about no restoring today/activation down.

  • When I went to bed I had 3,000  song and multiple playlists.  This morning I have ~30 songs and no playlists.  What could have happened to my songs playlists?  I run iTunes on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.  HELP! (oh, and the Songs are not in recycle bin)

My wife's ipod nano was plugged into the machine overnight.
When she went running with it, there were no songs on it.  She checked the computer and was horrified to see that the playlists had disappeared and most of the songs had disappeared.
    QUESTIONS:

  • I am running out of hard drive space so I clear 32GB of space at midnight, went to bed. When I wokle up I had no space left even though I had not used the computer, the system.lg is FULL of stuff and I have no HD space anymore? What's eating it up?

    What's eating it up?

    WORD TO THE WISE
the OmniDiskSweeper was a very helpful download, because it laid out the HD and all the files on it in a "largest to smallest" fashion. When I did this I found that I had an inordinate amount of memory being taken up in my Mail Data folder, this did not make much sense so when I dug deeper I found that a 59MB scanned file that I had emailed 3 weeks ago had not been delivered, so the computer was retrying every minute and saving the history of what it was doing, so it was saving the 59MB file as well as the log about the 59MB file and hence for the last 3 weeks it's been chewing away at HD space recording the activity of the undeliverable file.
I deleted the Data record folders and removed the yahoo account from My Mail and reinstalled it with proper IMAP information and the HD is secure and holding at 331GB of free space. Like it ought to be.
I love the fact that if something very strange is happpening on your MAC there is a REASON....find it and fix it, and move on. In the PC world you would reboot 20 times, call some guy in India who will ony try to sell you a new subscription or warranty for $99 and never solve anything.
I am at rest once more, thanks for the tip
