Where Do I Report A Stolen Ipod Touch?

lost
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing

File a police report and include your serial number. You can only block/erase files if you had Find My iPod set up on the device, otherwise you are SOL.

  • How to report a stolen ipod?

I was told that I could come onto the apple site and report my already registered ipod as stolen so that the thief would not be able to add music to it, but the site seems pretty worthless on any subject of the nature of stolen items. Before I start randomly calling the tech support numbers and getting put on hold for days at a time, I wanted to leave a post here to see if anyone has any information about telling Apple that my ipod was stolen. Or is there a way to email apple? I wasn't able to find that either. Thanks to anyone who can help!
    -Mary

less than a year ago i purchased an ipod photo and it was recently stolen. It is inconceivable to me that nothing can be done to assist in locating it. I am a registered user of Apple.Com, iTunes, and my iPod is/was registered... Even to be able to say that someone is attempting to update an ipod on a system that you are not registered to... Why do we register? What's the point? Im so frustrated that I now only have part of the music on iTunes available to me (and nothing to play it on except my home pc) and that my iPod is gone and Apple 'cant' assist in locating it, that I dont think I will purchase a new iPod, nor will I suggest anyone else purchase one.

  • HT1689 reporting a stolen iPod Touch

My son's iPod touch, 4th generation was stolen last night.   Should this be reported to Apple in the event someone tries to register it?  The iPod has his credit card number included in his account for iTune store purchases.  Is it protected from anyone using that information?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • How could I report a stolen ipod using its serial number?

I lost my ipod but i have its case, so i know its serial number. Is there a way i can find my ipod using this code?

No.  Change the passwaords for all accounts used on the iPOd and report it to the police.  The police need the SN.

  • Stolen ipod on thursday. i have serial number and all other info

My ipod was 'stolen' this thursday at school. Today is tuesday. Is it not possible to track my ipod's current ip address with the serial number and such? And I did reported the missing ipod to my school. What else can I do? I can report it to the police. But how do I do that? And its rather late so I don't know if anyone will listen now. I'm already a couple of days late in reporting so the chances of me not ever finding my ipod is bigger. I also plan on contacting the Apple media helpline (408)-974-2042 and ipod technical support (800)-275-2273 tomorrow morning. Also, is the same serial number in my receipt engraved into my ipod?

I'll do exactly what you've said. To report it to the police. I will then have them call ipod technical support (800)-275-2273 because apparently if I give them my ipod's serial number AND someone happened to plug it into a computer, they can find it. I'm basing it all upon from a site that I read which is (  http://forums.ilounge.com/ipod-nano-1g-2g/165385-how-can-i-report-my-stolen-ipod -apple.html ) Even if the information was changed, as long as I have the original box, which I still do, perhaps I can do something about it C: I'm very hopeful. It wouldn't and it really isn't the end of the world if I don't find it. But I want to try my hardest in finding it.So I'll report it to the city police station near my school. Thanks for your time!

  • Stolen ipod nano

my friend's blue ipod nano got stolen today and she wants to know how to trace the serial number of that nano, she said she registered it online with Apple. she plans to submit the serial number to Apple or the authorized repair centers/resellers hoping, just hoping that if that stolen ipod is brought for service, she can be informed.
how can you view/trace the products & their serial numbers that you have registered with Apple.
    thanks.

THe only thing that can be done is to report the stolen ipod to the local police and hope that it is recovered.

  • Ipod 5 reported as stolen and dont know what to do.

My friend needed an ipod, and she bought it for $120. The seller told her to meet up at a park and she saw it was okay and she had thought it was on factory settings left like new so she bought it and when she got home she saw it had been reported as stolen/lost. It was icloud locked, we could not do anything about it. She tried calling the seller but he wouldn't pick up, She even emailed him but nothing. The owner left a message threatening to call the police so it was pretty much stolen. She called the owner but he/she won't pick up but she lost 120 dollars so what should she do? It is an ipod 5 and it is blue.

I think the $120is gone unless you can get it from the person or the police can get it from the person.
The police should do nothing since you mistakenly purchased stolen merchandise and then turned it in to the police when you found out it was stolen.
